This is a diamond in the rough! Restaurant is nothing fancy setting but the food is PHENOMENAL! The won ton soup is delicious and the beef(in my opinion is better then chicken). I come here at least twice a month; parking is validated for an hour so that is cool! My mom and GF fly in from Texas and every month they’re here they request HONGKONG! Maybe ill get togo tonight: D

We ordered the combination dinner for two because I wanted Moo Goo Gai Pan, but instead they served us another dish(some chicken in a gooey sauce with broccoli) without any explanation. As for the shrimp, you can tell they are frozen – they always test mushy. This was the second time I went there. The first time, I didn’t really care for it, but I went back because it was late and it was open. Bottom line – this will be the last time I go.

5star food! The best walnut shrimp in San Diego! 1star service– by far the WORST service! You’ll wait several minutes before any type of greeting or a table to be seated at, and don’t even think about trying to call ahead to order… IF they pick up the phone, they’ll hang up on you, and if they don’t hang up they’ll tell you you must come in to order. Yikes if the food wasn’t delish, no way would I keep going back. Now when I go in to order to go, it’s almost funny to watch how rude they are to customers because you seriously expect nothing less.

the service attitude is extremely awful. And the food just tastes so so. I’ll never come here again.

I’ve been going to this place since the 90’s and I love the food there! The staff is awesome, on point, friendly, and very accommodating. The workers there have been there for a while and they are pretty direct with getting you in and seating you. Don’t be intimidated! It’s a small restaurant but its great after the club and getting some culture. Egg drop soup is good and Mongolian beef is really good. The crabmeat soup is very tasty too.

It is a busy restaurant. We were the only Chinese family at beginning in the full restaurant. They served with big plate and a lot of foods, we can only finish half of them. The sour and sweet pork is good, the other dishes are ok. They served slow because they were too busy. They fried everything which is typical for American Chinese food, but not healthy. The restaurant decoration is weird with pink light on front. It is not Hong Kong foods I know.

Ehhh mediocre at best. I had high hopes for the food based on recommendations from friends but it didn’t live up. Not to mention, my tummy was really upset afterwards.

Ok, perhaps I was too tough on Hong Kong in my last review. After going to several other Chinese restaurants in San Diego, I have to say Hong Kong sometimes fails to impress BUT it never fails to disappoint. What you get here is classic Chinese American food, no frills, but tasty and they are open late. I personally recommend the chicken broccoli(they don’t skimp on the broccoli!) and any of their soups. I once tried their walnut shrimp and it was tasty, but I think I had a mini heart attack hours later.

There is something to be said about being able to find savory Chinese food(non-craft/dim sum) in San Diego– damn near impossible. Or so I thought… Now I don’t know if being from the East Coast makes me bias, but I have had an incredibly difficult time finding somewhere to satisfy my insatiable craving and this place had me at «old school Chinese horoscope placemats.» We walked in about 1:30 in morning, expecting very little in terms of service. I reserved a small amount of hope for the food and chose two standard dishes– chicken and vegetables + beef and broccoli. The plates came out quickly –steam hitting us right in face; nom. Generous amounts of meat and vegetables. The two servers were owning the packed dinning room floor, hustling and bustling, and wait for it… smiling. Very pleased this gem is only a 10 minute drive.

Ordered take out from here tonight. It would have been REALLY nice to know that the«cream cheese wontons» have crab in them. Why wouldn’t you market them as that???

Yes its open late, yes the service is quick, yes the food is mediocre. Small but efficient use of space. I started with a few apps and I wasn’t too impressed. The fried shrimp was about 90 percent batter, 10 percent shrimp. The spring rolls were pretty fire tho. I ordered the kung pao chicken and the bae had some beef satay and some rice. The food was good but nothing to brag home about. I would def come here if it was 2am or I was 3 bottles of wine deep. The service was good but there was a def English barrier PS — the hot mustard tastes interesting …

We ate dinner here tonight. We had spring rolls for an appetizer. They were delicious. My husband had Hong Kong special fried rice, which he enjoyed. I had chicken with broccoli and it was also very good. The portions are huge so you’ll definitely have some to take home. The server we had was very nice and friendly. They weren’t busy and our food came out not too long after we placed our order. The only con was finding a place to park without fearing our truck would be towed, which it wasn’t thankfully!

I really loved this place. I ate here yesterday with a friend around 5 o’clock. There was only one other group there when we got there so we were seated quickly. We decided on the dinner option that for an extra $ 4 you get 3 spring rolls and a soup added to the dishes you order. The wonton soup tasted freaking delicious and the spring rolls were super crunchy. We ordered Kung pao and orange chicken and we were not disappointed. The dishes were huge! And we had plenty left over for the next day. This is gonna be my go to Chinese place from now on.

It’s been over 8 years since the last time I ate here. Back then the restaurant was fairly new and it is still the same great place with delicious foods.

I round up, because, really, 4.5 stars because the white rice portions are small, and sometimes people may expect more white rice. But thats the ONLY reason. Everything else is great. This is our GO-TO hangover food option, and only from Hong Kong. Love the Won-Ton Soup(the special with all types of meat & seafood), and the Hong Kong Fried rice is the bomb. Of course, the misses’ favorite is the crispy noodle with beef, which is delicious. Really, we’ve buffet’d quite the variety of dishes from here, and everything is most excellent. The location(we never eat there) is a classic Chinese pick up joint. I’d eat there, just like to eat my Chinese food at home. Oh, and open on all holidays and open late. AWESOME.

I ordered on the phone for pick up and the guy that answered was very blunt and didn’t even ask for my name or anything. He then said that my Orange Chicken, Crispy Beef, and Egg Drop soup would be done in 15 min. I was skeptical at first, as I felt the phone call was not very good. Then, I came to pick up. I got to the restaurant about 15 min later and the place was 100% capacity in the restaurant. The guy that answered the phone and took my order was one of two servers for the entire place. He was answering the phone, cashing out take out orders, putting together take out, delivering plates to tables, and refiling drinks, all with the crazy busy restaurant. And to think, with all that commotion, my food was still ready in 15 min, as promised. I was impressed! Now I understand why his phone call was so blunt. He simply didn’t have time for chit chat, with all his duties. The egg drop soup here is legit. I usually get egg drop from the delivery chinese places in Florida and every time, it is this bright yellow soup that looks like its almost glowing. I thought that was how it was supposed to be like. The soup here was a pale yellow, and actually looked like an authentic dish. It tasted great and their wonton strips were actually crunchy and not stale, as if they were made fresh in store, which I assume they are. The Orange Chicken was not that great, unfortunately, as it had too much breading and not enough sauce. All the sauce went to the bottom, so the rest of the dish was too dry. The Crispy Beef was very good, with the sauce clinging to each piece of beef. I wish I had known how big these dishes are, as I would have just ordered one dish for two people. Overall, definitely going back here. Way better than the stuff I had in Florida.

The pros: 1) Open till late, and I mean late. Maybe till 2.3am? It was the only thing open within the nearby vicinity. 2) Fast and efficient service. Got us our food at lightening speed. The cons: The food. =( My taste-buds had me questioning why I was there. Well, the answer was easy. We rolled in as a party of 4. 3 very hungry boys and my very hungry self. By the time I looked at the menu the guys had already ordered about 2 or 3 things they knew they wanted. I just basically sat back as they ordered, and ordered, and ordered… and ordered. Out of the handful of items that were picked, nothing left me thinking, «wow» that was good. Here’s a few : *The egg rolls — Since it was the first thing to come out, I quickly took a bite. Then immediately handed it off. Greasy. The guys seemed to like it(blame it on the aaaaallcohol) they got another order. *Beef and broccoli — Typical *Fried rice — Not much egg or any other ingredients. Mostly all rice. *Large wonton noodle soup — Hmmm, bland but salty(makes sense?) *Noodle plate of some sort — Nahh And 1 or 2 other plates that came out that I honestly don’t remember or passed up on. Quality of the food wasn’t great. I’d hate to say it but for those desperate times comes… well you know. This place sure fits that bill.

This is a great late night spot for Chinese. The service is no frill and the restaurant is casual, but the food is decent and the prices are right. It’s not gourmet, but it’s honest. We’ve tried numerous dishes; our favourites are: The Wor Wonton Soup is awesome, especially when you are feeling under the weather. The Hot & Sour Soup has layers of flavours and a nice spicy note. The Lemon Chicken is delicious — it’s awful for you with all the sugar, but it’s crispy and delicious. The Orange Chicken is just as delicious and just as bad for you. The Mongolian Beef is great. We really haven’t had anything bad there and that it’s open late and is affordable added a star right there!

1st time. Came here after bar hopping North Park. I’m very picky when it comes to good Chinese food but this place is good. Ordered. –honey walnut shrimp –house special pan fried noodle Tables are real small for a large party of 6 especially if you’re sharing different plates. Service was fast and I would definitely come back. They are open late and they have a great selection and portions are a good size to potluck around your table.

Yay! Open on New Years Day! San Diego got chilly so I was craving hot and sour soup. They had that and a lot more! All of the classic favorites and some unique creations too. I ordered spring rolls & garlic shrimp which was delicious! You get a lot of food for your money here. There is parking next door in a pay lot and they will validate up to an hour. The place is on the smaller side but can easily accommodate larger parties of 8 – 10 if needed. Staff is friendly courteous and helpful and polite. Will definitely be back to try more dishes.
