2.5 stars. I had a Groupon for a family meal, so decided to try it out. Service wasn’t as terrible as I expected. The only problem was when I called to place an order, I requested naan instead of rice, and the lady just kept repeating rice to me. So rice it was. FAMILYMEAL — Lots of rice with lots of spices — Chicken tikka masala was alright. Not terrible, but nothing to write home about. It wasn’t particularly creamy, and the chicken was a little bit dry. I could taste the smokiness in the chicken, so I’m pretty sure it was tandoori chicken(either intentionally put in the oven for this dish or leftover tandoori chicken repurposed). Dish lacked complexity of flavor, but it was a little bit spicy. — Salad was fresh — Hummus was standard Not bad to feed a family of 4 for about $ 10 with the deal, but not somewhere I would go back to regularly.

The food was okay. The deal was fair, but not as big as I expected for family size. The employees are not too overly friendy. If you have a coupon it’s worth it!

I would comment on the food but they would not honor the groupon. The address on the groupon is wrong. The name on the building didn’t match the groupon. I found them only cause the phone number was correct. The set up is confusing and I had to stand around and wait as they are understaffed. I left.

Tried to place an order for a corporate event and their phone lines were busy from 11:30 — 12:45. I stopped trying.

This place is NOT bad at all ! unlike all of the Unilocal reviews. My sister got a groupon here and told me to come pick up the food for her. Upon arriving, it was a bit shady since the restaurant is connected to a grocery store. I was greeted when I arrived and the owner gave me the options of the food I can get with the groupon. She told me it would be a 30 minute wait(but in reality it was prob 20 minutes) and was super nice! Even told me to call in next time so I won’t have to wait since they make it fresh so it takes longer. I received a HUGE box of rice(probably 2 – 3 cups of rice before it was cooked). The chicken masala was delicious!!! And they gave us a huge portion too. I loved how flavorful it was and the chicken was not dry at all. The salad was whatevers, just normal lettuce and they gave me some green sauce that tasted good with it. I was very surprised when I saw the hummus though. Probably one of the best hummus I’ve ever tasted and it looked like it was homemade too!!! I really enjoyed the food here and next time if I’m craving indian food I will come here. I recommend: — Family style meal w/chicken masala & hummus!

I love Indian food, it’s one of my favorites. I was excited when I found a groupon for this place not to far from my area. It was a huge disappointment. I ordered Tikka masala, my favorite indian dish and the chicken was dry and the watery sauce didn’t even taste like tikka masala. The hummus had absolutely no taste at all and the salad dressing was so spicy that we couldn’t even have a couple of bites. The naan bread was chewy like it was made hours ago. In conclusion I will never go back to this place. I thought it was a good deal but we ended up throwing out almost everything.

My girlfriend got the Groupon before checking reviews and from the moment I arrived to get my order I knew something was amiss. By the time I got home and tasted what they claimed to be chicken tikka masala, it was too late to change my mind. Unfortunately, it was the second worst experience with Indian food I’ve had. :( The flavors are way off. The rice wasn’t very tasty… I don’t have many words aside from being very disappointed and won’t be returning.

We ordered the lamb chops. The picture looked good on the menu. But what we got was an over-spiced pile of bones, fat, gristle and very little meat — didn’t even look like lamb chops. We won’t be back.

Saw a Groupon for two sandwiches which is unique to Indian food so I gave it a try. They were burritos and stacked with chicken(no other options) but they just weren’t my flavor. You win some and lose some.

I hate to leave negative review for this business as I love helping small business out. I used groupon without any trouble and was very excited to try their food. The chicken tikka masala was way too spicy. It feels like a level 8 in terms of spiciness. I was so disappointed and so upset. That is really my only complaint, please please ask for level of spiciness next time. All the food ended up being wasted since I could not eat any of it.

This restaurant would not accept my Groupon. When i called the first time, they told me they do not take Groupons after 7 pm because they are too busy. When I called 5 minutes later, they told me they are out of food. They said I need to call back the next day. When I asked what time, they told me that I should call two hours before I want my food depending on how busy the restaurant/store is. Skip this place. They are terrible and rude, and I think they are using Groupon as advertising but not honoring the deals. If you purchased a Groupon, complain to Groupon so they will not make agreements with Indian Express … because Indian Express is not giving me the food I paid for and they promised.

This place is friggin awesome. I don’t know why it gets a lot of poor reviews. The bread is fresh made to order and is very good. The bad reviews are mainly service related. They have kinda limited English there, but the food tastes very authentic and has the correct spices, unlike many watered down Indian food places. It’s a little wired being there for the first time cause it’s an unusual set up, but once you manage to get your food(I always get to go), you’ll be very surprised. I for one, haven’t had a problem using the Groupon.

I purchased a Groupon deal for Family meal and tried twice to order as the Groupon specified. I called on April 25th around 615pm and was told that Groupon can only be redeemed between 11am and 6pm on Weekends. The lady then advised me to call back tomorrow when I asked her if I could do it tomorrow. I called again at 515pm on April 26th. This time, another lady said they are not doing Groupon today because it’s Mother’s day due to they have many catering orders. When I told her that the other lady told me to call back today, she simply said that she didn’t work yesterday. I then asked how long it would take to get a Family meal to go ready for today. She said 45 minutes. I said I will pick it up at 6 since we are still within the time. She said they cannot do it due to catering orders. I asked her why she said it could be ready in 45 minutes when I asked her. She just didn’t answer. No where on the Groupon it stated that it cannot be redeemed at certain time or certain days of the week. It would take a lot for me to want to give this place a fair chance.

I did the groupon deal for a family meal to go and was not disappointed! Very large portions and the tandoori chicken was perfect. The basmati rice was fragrant and flavorful. Just everything was spot on. The customer service was great too. I will definitely be back!

We ordered a groupon for a Family Size meal here. The groupon said to order by phone… I think that was our first mistake. I called and ordered Chicken Tikka Masala… I said«Chicken Tikka Masala» a second time half way through the call to confirm. When I show up to pick up my order, I showed my groupon and said«Chicken Tikka Masala?» As I was clearly the only person she was waiting for in the empty restaurant. She replied«Chicken Tandoori.» I told her«I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala,» and again her response was«Chicken Tandoori.» I then asked“You don’t have Chicken Tikka Masala?”(knowing that they do infact have Chicken Tikka Masala), to which she replied«Chicken Tandoori, she already made it.» Clearly the last thing their worried about is returning customers and customer satisfaction. In my many years as a restaurant server, whenever we screwed up a customer’s order, we corrected it. This restaurant doesn’t understand the importance of that very standard method of customer retention. I took the order(I really should’ve left her with it) and drove home bummed knowing I wouldn’t have my favorite indian dish — the only dish I ever order because Chicken Tikka Masala is like food-crack, I could eat it every day. I then drove home feeling like crap as I realized I’m going to have to explain to my fiancé why I returned home with something other than our mutual favorite Indian dish. Then I was continually bummed out with every bite of sauce-less chicken and rice. So… that in a nutshell is what you call a horrible customer experience. They can make food, but they don’t know how to run a business. We’ll never return because I cannot trust that they will make the entrée that I order next time, and if they screw up again, I have no reason to believe they’ll fix it. We’ll be getting our weekly Chicken Tikka Masala fix at another Indian restaurant.

Ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and it didn’t quite taste right. It was tasted too much like tomato sauce. It was also heavily loaded with cumin. The chicken was pretty dry. I have had many Chicken Tikka Masala so I have a general idea on how it should taste and this place was just a little off. I also tried my friend’s Chicken Tikka and the meat was also dry. If a place can’t cook the chicken right, we have a problem. The rice although served generously in quantity, was super oily. The plate was really shinny after I put it on a to-go box. This place is inside a deserted little Indian super market. I was not overly impressed with the quality of the food so I’ll probably won’t be a returning customer.

I loved chicken seekh kabob they had. They don’t serve it any more even though it’s still listed on the menu. It’s sad seems like this place is also going to close soon. My condolence in advance. Some how that lady on the cash register is cursed, so far every business she went to closed down.

While the service was good, the food was not. They could up their game by putting some effort into their plates. This didn’t taste like any tandoori I’ve ever had and the samosas were hard enough to throw at windows. The place was dirty and it looked as though they didn’t take much pride at all in it. I wouldn’t go back. You shouldn’t waste your time.

This place is solid. The chicken tikka(tandori chicken) was ever so slightly on the salty side but still very palatable. The lady who takes the order and rings up the register is so nice with a friendly smile! The lamb and chicken were both goos but I preferred the lamb as thr chicken was bland. A bit bland. The chicken with the bones also made it difficult to consume with it being in all that sauce. The lamb was yummy though!

Nice food… The closest you can get to Indo-pak desi food… In San Diego… Open for lunch and dinner … The place is in a grocery store… I think it’s in place of Bismallah kabob n curry … In the world produce market. Price is reasonable. would recommend for a quick bite.
