I was delighted to see a new breakfast place in Terminal 1. My excitement about what looked like fresh baked croissants quickly disappear at the first bite. Soggy croissant with bad quality ham and cheese plus egg, of course overpriced. Not worth the price. Fast and friendly service. Nice bar so seat and browse the internet or people watching. At least another option different than Peets coffee, but mediocre.

This is one of the options on the Alaska/united terminal side. Man is the food disappointing. The pizza seemed to be popular but looked greasy. And meh. I decided on a safe choice. A turkey and Swiss sandwich for 9 bucks… Ugh. And it had a soggy bread because they had slapped on their tasteless mustard/mayo mixtures before hand… As a result the tomato and lettuce was slimy and transparent. After taking half the ingredient off I managed to eat cheese and turkey and tore off some bun. I had to grab a bag of Doritos to add flavor. –Another reason why I gave them one star. The service… Many servers have long hair and do not have hair nets. –they only use two registers: one for cash and one for credit cards. When they ran my credit card they’re machine froze. I pray I don’t get billed twice.

This is the only option for breakfast sandwiches on the United side of terminal 1. After eating here, I wish there was another option for breakfast. The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich taste like it had been made the day before and had been kept warm with heat lamps since. It was dried out and hard, but still was super greasy somehow. Their selection of bananas were all super green. I asked for a cup of cold water and got tap with no ice. I wish I could tell you there are other options, but there aren’t. This place would get 1 star if it were not for the fact that I was starving. My recommendation is to eat breakfast before coming to the airport and skipping this one.

The Mediterranean wrap is the best sandwich at the airport.

Jetbox Market is further evidence of the San Diego Airport Authority investing in new retail and food options in the terminals. I would still have preferred a branded local restaurant but Jetbox Market is by any measure a dramatic improvement over what was available before. All the regular airport food options are there. Breakfast-time travelers can find their coffees, OJs, parfait yogurts, pastries, breakfast sandwiches — the usual. Things start to get more interesting with the lunch fare. Lets start with salads. Chopped(with turkey and avocado). Ok, sounds good. Greek? Yup, they got it. A hummus plate? At an airport? Yes, they have it. That’s the first point of divergence — the options are more exotic than one might expect. Now for the sandwiches. Here’s the second point of divergence — the sandwiches are toasted. Panini anyone? Good looking wraps too. These are all higher quality than the barely edible standard airport sandwiches of the past. I ordered one of the personal pizzas, the selection for which includes pepperoni, meatlovers, caprese, veggie, cheese, etc — something for everyone. My pizza was the Blanco Florentine, with grilled chicken, sautéed spinach, tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and balsamic drizzle. It was really delicious, especially with the drizzle. the chicken wasn’t overcooked at all, a rarity for such a pizza. It was also huge, probably at least 1 square foot. Despite having enjoyed the pizza immensely, I will call out difference #3: the price point is high, even for airport food. I paid $ 11.80 for the pizza, plus tax and drink. That’s probably why the personal pizza is so big — to try to justify the pricing. I shouldn’t have finished my pizza but I totally did, all by myself. I know, so gluttonous! I had a nice nap on the plane.

I was in a hurry to board my plane and as many other people flying, I was starving. I stood in a line for a few seconds at this little deli, when a man who was very kind asked me what I would like to order. I placed my order with him then after all was said and done, I changed my mind on what topping I’d like to have on my pizza… This would annoy me if I were in the situation, but Scott so kindly changed the order and was extremely polite and accomodating. This was a simple little encounter but I had to share my experience because usually these small convenient little delis seem to employ unpleasant, impatient people and I’m happy to say I was pleased more with the service than the food.

Everything at the airport is gonna be overpriced… But I liked the quality and ‘health’ characteristics of this place. Not too many options in this terminal, so I really appreciated the chicken pesto wrap that I got. The sauce wasn’t too heavy, the chicken was cooked well, there was a lot of spinach and some red peppers which made it pretty tasty. Their packaged /other products include the packaged fruit chews, kind bars, gluten free bars, and naked juice, so relatively healthy choices. I mean they also have egg, ham and cheese croissants, so… But in general they have yogurt parfaits and good sandwiches and wraps.

So after eyeing San Diego’s rare Diet Mountain Dew in their drink case, I figured I’d get the cheese egg & bacon sandwich to go along with it. The cashier didn’t even realize Pepsi made DMD. Go figure. Then when I asked her for the itemized receipt, she looked at me like I was speaking Japanese. Food venue in an airport?! This cannot be the first time she’s been asked for an itemized receipt, right? The sandwich turned out to be a croissant, only one piece of bacon. Meh.

Not a lot of options here currently at Terminal 1. This place has your usual sandwiches, salads, and a few breakfast items, including the«Health-wich» that I tried — baby spinach, sauteed mushrooms, egg white and swiss cheese. Not too heavy, not a whole lot of flavor, but pretty good, and reasonably priced at just $ 5.90. Would be nice if it came on wheat instead of sourdough(a little more«healthy»). Large coffees just $ 2.30. Worth a try.
