Nothing but good things to say about Jason. Every personal goal that I set was met during the past year that I’ve trained. He provided consistent guidance and new workouts that were tailored to my body’s strengths and weaknesses. He was flexible to accommodate my ever-changing work schedule too, which is always helpful. I think the key part about training with him is committing to the process. You can’t just hop in here for a few workouts and expect results. You’ve got to stick to the nutrition guidelines in addition to working your way through the fitness program each week. We accomplished in 1 year what I couldn’t do on my own in 5 years, and for that, JMP gets 5 stars.

I trained with Jason for 7 months before I moved to Boston, and my entire approach to fitness and strength training changed under his guidance. Regrettably, I’m not a wealthy celeb who can travel with a trainer, but if I was, Jason would be spotting me on the bench press right now. Jason’s approach to fitness training is all about progression, meaning, your regimen adapts to your physical capabilities and lifestyle and is slowly changed to reach your incremental goals. Jason will measure your physical capabilities through a mobility assessment and your lifestyle habits through a self-evaluation form that’s updated every two weeks. In tandem, these reports allow Jason constantly tailor your regimen in and out of the gym so that you can reach your goals without ever feeling overwhelmed or ill-equipped. For example, my primary goals were to gain muscle mass and increase strength. I progressed to eating 4 times a day but struggled to eat 5 times, and this obstacle continued for over a month. We had an honest discussion about the challenges of meal prepping for me, and we decided to supplement my diet with Trader Joe’s frozen meals. In doing so, I finally broke my weight goal of 140 lbs. When I began training with Jason, I had a novice’s understanding of weight lifting, and the lack of knowledge precluded me from training at a gym by myself. Every session with him provided more education about proper form and the physiology of training, and I now feel confident in working out by myself and creating my own training programs. The benefits of personal training is one-on-one interaction, and Jason has extensive knowledge of the body, training, and nutrition to educate you. Some other details: JMP Fitness operates within the FunctionSmart building which provides physical therapy. You will train in a large lit warehouse-style room(with fans and AC) with equipment lining the perimeter. If you choose the semi-private training package, you will sometimes work out alongside 1 – 3 other clients, but you’ll rarely have to wait to use equipment as each person’s regimen is unique. There’s never a shortage of parking outside. Scheduling is typically flexible, and you will be accommodated even if you have an abnormal retail sales schedule like mine. And lastly, ask Jason to play the Spin Cycle station during your workout; it’s awesome.

I have been working out with Jason for a little over a year as a personal training client, and am really happy with the results and his program. He works closely with his clients to develop programs specific to them, and specific to their goals(even if those goals are ever changing). Jason has helped me run faster, take minutes off my sprint triathlon time, worked with my knee injury to help me feel stronger and more secure, my overall strength has increased dramatically, and in my last program he even catered specifically to my snowboarding obsession. In addition to the personal training, I am also a regular at his Beer Run series every Friday during the Summer. We meet up at a different craft brewery in the Sorrento Valley area(there are so many to choose from, I love San Diego) run the predetermined mile course a few times, and then grab a beer. The beer almost tastes better after working up a sweat, Jason buys the first round, and its a great way to get my workout in on Friday when after work I would usually just want to crash. I would recommend Jason for any level of athlete, or aspiring athlete. Keep up the good work, Jason!

The year’s have come and gone and JMP’s focus has stayed the same — their patrons. I don’t know many people that care so much about their customers as Jason does. Sure he’s a little bit of a fitness geek, but that’s why we love the guy. He’s about you and your health. Keep it up Jason.

Look no further for your fitness and performance needs! JMP Fitness and Performance is where you want to go if you are trying to get in shape, improve your sports performance or are simply looking for something new to include in your workout routine. Jason is a San Diego State University alum and NSCA certified personal trainer and really knows his stuff. Whatever your personal and unique goals, he will help you meet them. He also sponsors the SDSU Cycling & Triathlon team which is awesome. The facility they operate in has a full range of equipment and space and is a great break from the crowded school gym. Working out at JMP is motivating and I highly recommend going here. Thank you Jason!

I started training with Jason a few months ago. As a fitness professional(group fitness instructor) and Ironman triathlete I am pretty well aware of how to workout, I just needed that extra boost in the weight room. Jason totally fit the bill. He is very smart and safe when it comes to training. I brought my fitness professional sister in for a work out and she too was impressed. He has great prices, a fun personality and a really perfect workout plan just for me! The changes I have seen in my body inside and out are exactly what I have been looking for.

Jason is the best! I go to Jason for personal training as well as weekend bootcamp classes. Jason is great at assessing your level of strength/training and pushing you to your personal ability. Even the bootcamp activities have different levels of difficulty ranging from easy to badass, so it feels tailored to you. Thanks to Jason, my husband and I have gotten into running and have been able to train for a 5K and half marathon, when both of us have tried and failed to do these in the past on our own. Jason will help you reach your goals of living a happier and healthier life!

I’ve attended Jason’s fitness classes and am a client for personal training. Jason has a great rapport with all of his clients and will tailor any exercise to your needs. I always leave his sessions feeling like I got a great workout, in addition to being pretty tired! His prices are extremely reasonable as well! He makes you feel like you can do it, even when you think you can’t, and is a great motivator. I have noticed a big difference since I’ve been working out with him(better endurance, better muscle tone and I am definitely stronger) and know it will only get better the more I work out with him!
