This pub is closed. Maybe they have moved, but I walked down here with some friends hoping to try it out and just found a dark, empty building.

My first review. I thought I would break the norm and leave my comfort zone. I decided to head to old town with an old friend and new one to have some fun. We decided to hit Kelly’s Pub and see what kind of mischief we could get into. The atmosphere of Kelly’s Pub was a typical dive bar. Cheap booz, pool tables, dart boards and a juke box to boot. The bartender was friendly and greeted us with a smile. The bartender had a heavy hand and poured us some stiff drinks. I was like great! Time to get faded and play a game of darts. However, that was the end of my good experience at Kelly’s Pub. There is a sign for Kelly’s Pub that says kitchen is open but that joint needs to say closed. I had the worse eating experience ever!!! I wish I would have went to Mac Donald’s. I order a bacon cheeseburger and a side of fries and got crap on a bun. First, the bacon was burnt and looked like pork rinds. I could not put the bacon on the burger. Second, the fries where over cooked and came in the smallest portion. Third, I paid 11.00 dollars for this garbage, lucky I was starving.(Should have went to sushi) Moreover, the locals where not very friendly. I was playing battle of the juke box with the patrons. For instance, some dude loaded up the juke box with the cock rock hits of the 70’s and took the juke box hostage. In frustration or to be a prick, someone started playing Mexican music. Anyway, unsavory food, awful music, and a headache to round out my adventure at Kelly’s Pub.

This Kelly’s is right across the highway from my boyfriend’s casa so we’ve been here a few times. It’s Kelly’s! Doesn’t have the same nostalgia as Kelly’s East has but the bartenders are good at serving drinks. I’m good at drinking them while getting my ass kicked at pool. Cheap and frienly. Right up my alley!

Great«dive» bar in Old Town. We were killing time NYE day before our red eye flight and Unilocaled our way here. The crowd was eclectic(def an older crowd, but quite varied) and the décor screams Irish pub. The bar seemed very well stocked and the tap list was decent for a bar that doesn’t sell itself as a beer bar. The bartender NAILED it. She was friendly w/out being overbearing and took care of everyone w/out anyone ever seeming to have to wait. We enjoyed a champagne toast to Ireland’s new year at 4pm and enjoyed the congeniality of the crowd. It’s also open at 11, so if you’re looking for a decent beer before the other nearby craft beer bars open, find your way here.

Really liking this place. It is kind of a dive, but the music is bangin and booze selections are ample. Crowd is friendly. Also, I haven’t tried either yet, but the bar tender highly recommended both the chicken tenders and the mozzarella sticks because they are made fresh. It definitely smells of some fried delicious goodness in here. High probability of me returning to test out the mozzarella sticks on some late night in the future when my will power is weak. There are also fresh gourmet cupcakes, which aren’t my cup of tea, but are a bonus nonetheless.

Pretty good experience. Not much of a young crowd though.

I went here on St. Patrick’s day. It is definitely an older crowd, but it seems most folks that visit are regulars and are very friendly. I tried my first corned beef and cabbage here. It was ehh. But I did find great company here. Not sure if I will be visiting regularly, but Kelly’s Pub did leave me with a memorable experience.

Kelly’s Pub in Old Town San Diego does not allow MC Colors in their establishment. The bar’s admission policy constituted unlawful discrimination under the Unruh Civil Rights Act. We will not return to the bar and urge other bikers to not give them their business.

The kitchen closed! Bummer! Place hasn’t changed otherwise but I liked having the option of grubbing down on a BBQ bacon burger once and a while. No matter, still a good dive(and the only dive walking distance ot my pad), and now you can bring in food…

Pubs are tricky to rate because really everyone is looking for something different when they go out. Kelly’s is good for me. Aside from the fact that I live down the street, this is why… I have been coming here for about 7+ years. I’ve used it as a place to meet coworkers for happy hour, a place to watch sports, a place to host a friend’s bday party, a place to grab a couple drinks with my wife at the end of the night, and a place to have some drinks with my buddies while playing darts/pool/juke box. The service has always been awesome. Jen is the best! She is always friendly and quick to help everyone even when the place is crowded. Cocktails are strong, and there is always a beer special. There is a great beer selection as well. The crowd is diverse. There is definitely a good mix of regulars with random groups of people on random nights. It never seems to be too crowded which minimizes the chance of knuckleheads causing problems. On many nights, you could bring a large group of friends and have plenty of room for your bar activities. Also, there is hot food(but I haven’t really tried it), 2 real dart boards, free pool(I forget which night), great football watching, and plenty of TVs. Also, I’ve gone there to watch the occasional ufc non-PPV event, and they have changed the channel for me.

Ahhaaha. I just happened to be drinking and singin buck0nine right now and thought… hey, where is a Kelly’s Pub in San Diego? and, IS there a Kelly’s Pub in San Diego? Ask Unilocal: Yep. And then… wait for it… Not only is there a Kelly’s Pub… I’ve been there. Often. I vaguely remember good times, fair prices, good looking people… although from the other reviews maybe i was just THAT drunk. If only I could stumble down and drink another round. I do think we Americans should institutionalize lock-ins to allow for the late-nighters.

Capitan’s Log. Stardate: October 23rd, 2010. Location: Planet Earth, somewhere between Old Town and Point Loma. Upon initially running a scan on Sector Kelly’s Pub, I was wary. The inhabitants were older, and primarily male. Not to worry, they seem to be peaceful lifeforms. A very strong Irish ambiance just caused me to investigate the selection of naturally appearing elements such as Smithwicks and Jameson. The lifeforms here seem to enjoy a game called«Pool». and they have two stations for use. An audio-propagation device filled the bar with awesome tunes from yesteryear. My space-credit balance was relatively unaffected by the consumption of beer. They have great deals and a sweet bartender female that poured a guiness beer with a clover somehow imprinted in the foam. Awesome. I’ll be back to this little hidden colony within a few parsecs.

My only gripe about this place is when you enter the bar for the first time… you will get that wet dog or wet carpet smell. It kinda takes you aback a bit… but then you realize, hey, its just feet and ass I bet… who hasn’t smelled feet and ass before. Then you get used to that weird smell and carry on. This happy hour is awesome…$ 2.75 domestic, $ 4 premium and $ 3 wells, $ 3 wines. Coool, 3 bucks on wine. I went with the Woodbridge Chardonnay, their house choice. Looking at the glass, the pour is just a little bit smaller, but its 3 bucks, so I guess its aight. Not realy sure what to think of this wine. It was ok, slightly aromatic, but I guess ok on my books. The music was great!!! or whoever selected the songs on the juke did the right thing. Definitely kept me in there longer than I had planned. Had some college FB going on tonight, so there was an average size crowd. Other amenities: ATM, juke like I said before, 2 pool tables, 2 dartboards and a lotto machine. Bathroom was semi-dirty though. Had a couple of flies inside. No paper towels. $ 10 minimum on credit card purchases. Only had a few Irish paraphanelia all along the walls, but watev, they serve pretty much every alcohol here, and that’s all it really matters.

Kellys Pub in Old Town is great. The drinks are very reasonable and unlike other bars in the genre, they take credit/debit cards. Convenient for the TJ School of Law Students, and a great local for folks that live in Old Town and Mission Hills. Kellys is what you make it; you can stop in for a quiet drink, or get rowdy with a group. All the bartenders are awesome too, super friendly and knowledgeable. Diversions: 2 pool tables, 2 dart boards, a stacked juke-box and 5 tvs(with Sunday Ticket). Oh yea, and Happy Hour is 11am to 7pm, every day. Bam!

Two *real* dart boards + one Juke box + zero hipsters = good times at Kelly’s. This is a dive bar, folks, and not in the«ironic» sense but in the way dive bars are meant to be: TVs are a couple years old, locals hang out here during the day, and the drinks are a bit cheaper than what you’d pay downtown or in PB. The bartenders are friendly and competent and you won’t have to wait long for a drink. Strangely enough, where Kelly’s really excels is the kitchen. Besides throwing a mean dart, the chef has a knack for cooking up some of the tastiest grub this side of Washington St., so make sure to head in thirsty AND hungry. You won’t be disappointed.
