Fantastic food with great ambiance and service! I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back! P. S., the skillet buffalo chicken dip is a must!

Think Cheers with a definite So Cal/microbrew vibe. The service is great, the staff and locals are really nice, and the beer is on point. Go on Sunday nights to see Dan. Also a great place to watch sports.

Based on how few people were in here(and the three that were, all at the bar, seemed to be employees), we probably should have just gone elsewhere, but we were starving. The server was nice, though he seemed like he was stoned, super tired or at worst couldn’t be bothered by the only people eating. He was helpful at points, but seemed completely lost at others. We got the Loaded Tater Tots for an app. I ordered the Thai-Tanic flatbread and my boyfriend got the South of the Border Bowl with tofu. Thank goodness we got the tots, which are pretty tough to mess up and weren’t anything special, but were still tasty. The rest of the food was inedible or bland. I’ll preface by saying I have had Thai hot dishes at Thai restaurants and finished two plates: That Thai-Tanic pizza was like FIRE in my mouth. I tried to eat it, but after three bites, my taste buds were gone and I gave up. The bowl was bland and the tofu wasn’t done well. The bowl would have been worth half the price, at a grocery store. Though we finished the tots and bowl, I sent the flatbread back. There was an excellent beer selection though and we were both very happy about that, but it’s San Diego, so good beer is the default. The mini-mugs they used sure felt like a misplaced novelty though. Thankfully we were not charged for the flatbread, but unless I want a beer, I will not be back here. Maybe they could try adding some tasty, edible food or getting a server who isn’t falling asleep.

Bartender with the wavy hair was great. Knowledgeable and made the right recommendations all around. He offered a few tasters of what he felt we would like based on our description. He was the only bartender there and was still very pleasant and attentive. We will be back!

The food is amazing and the décor is very fun. Its a relaxing place to have a drink or some flatbread. I had a Hot Mama. Delicious! Even the left overs were tasty. The only reason I gave them 4 instead of 5 is because the second flatbread we ordered took a little longer but we were comped for it plus he kept us updated and apologized many times for the wait. Honestly, that flatbread is worth the wait. Looking forward to my second visit.

The selection of beers is great, but the queso and ceviche were terrible(not fresh). Got one for free though with the Unilocal check in deal. Good service on a Monday night. Next time I’ll come just for drinks.

This place is awesome. I went here around 4pm looking for a place to grab a drink and relax before dinner. The bartender was super nice and offered to let me try some samples before deciding on a drink. Their drink names are so creative — «Irish I were taller» and«Me so honey» just to name a few, and cheap during Happy Hour($ 4 per beer)! Unfortunately the Unilocal offer of one free appetizer is not available anymore, but during Happy Hour they do offer $ 5 bites for appetizers. Also, they have a nice corner with lots of board games, and one end of the bar has a shuffleboard table. I ended up playing both Taboo and shuffleboard.

‘Twas a dark and dismal night, but we just finished finals so what better way to celebrate than by eating delicious food? My friends and I arrived after choosing Toma Sol based on the fact that it wasn’t a Mexican restaurant — extensive criteria, I know. And, we were incredibly excited to see the fabulous check-in offer: a free appetizer with the purchase of two entrees! Honestly, one of the best deals I’ve ever seen. We ordered the Skillet Buffalo Chicken Dip, which came out in a timely manner with a weird cream cheese consistency surrounded by a film of oil. It did however taste delicious. We also ordered the Loaded Tater Tots because girls have to watch their figures. Or more like watch the waiter walk around the desolate restaurant for 30 minutes without our second appetizer. Alas, we saw him emerge with two plates — our entrees… My South of the Border bowl was so incredibly bland, but that’s what I get for buying the cheapest thing on the menu. And then my friends’ incredibly large flatbreads were served along with our post-entrée appetizer. Everyone enjoyed the flatbreads, which turned into two meals, and the tater tots, despite their untimely delivery, were pretty good. What seemed like a millennium after we arrived, we begged for our checks and left right before they closed. The food was good, but the most memorable aspect of the visit was the unusually terrible service. What could the server possibly have been doing in the empty restaurant? Maybe he was sunbathing in the back.

Great happy hour deals. A nice place to grab a pint, a bite and relax. I bring my 2-year-old all the time and she can run around or play with some of the games. Great craft beer selection as well.

So, I had been here once before a few months ago for beers at the bar with friends and had a pretty good time. So this week when I had to pick a place for a few friends to get together I thought of Toma Sol because it doesn’t get overly crowded and is close to home. Unfortunately, our experience was subpar this time around. The biggest issue was the fruit flies! They were everywhere and a big turn off for people that are eating. We sat at one of the tables instead of the bar and didn’t get great service. It took a long time for anyone to come around for to ask if we wanted to drinks or food. A few friends did order food: the ceviche, a rice bowl, and a flatbread. The shrimp in the ceviche looked terrible and the chip were Tostitos straight out of the bag. The rice bowl was weird because the chicken was hot but the rest of the ingredients were still cold and the flat bread was very average. Also, we would have probably had a few more drinks but no one actually came around to ask us if we want another drink. Overall, a disappointing experience.

Interesting joint in Mission Hills, this place offered a nice selection of wine and local craft beer along with some tasty treats. I came here on a weekend with the wife just trying to find a new spot to have a drink and an appetizer or 2 before meeting some friends and was honestly happily surprised with this place. Coming in not knowing anything about them made it interesting but as soon as I walked in I was happily greeted by their draft taps behind the bar. I also noticed they had and interesting selection of craft beers in the fridge, some are some seasonal beers, I was intrigued by one beer that if sold it wouldn’t be good anymore as when it was first bottled. I understand businesses trying to stock up on great beer selection but Cmon you need to make sure you keep a fresh inventory and not just let them sit. I noticed they have what I believe is a beer challenge which consists of drinking all of they beers on draft and you get a Tshirt and a pic on a wall. Food was surprisingly good for technically not being a restaurant/wine bar. I enjoyed the Bruschetta although I would prefer a bit more crunchy bread. Parking in the area really sucks but I honestly agree with many reviews, this is a hidden gem. I’ll definitely come back for happy hour.

My boyfriend and I’s new favorite go to beer place. Great little options for food– have had almost all the different appetizers all delicious and their BLTT sandwich, good amount of food and comes with chips. Shuffle board table hidden by the bathroom and a shelf of board games. Bartenders are awesome, very friendly– our favorite is Tyler! Got us to join the 12 club(12 beers in 12 days), were actually on our last day today, were pretty stoked! Also very knowledgable on all the beers on tap and great to have a convo with while your enjoying some beer.

Not a bad spot to grab a drink after a long week. Good amount of seating, TV’s and some bar games, they’ve got shuffleboard. Not the most exciting bars I’ve been to, but a nice addition to the neighborhood never the less. Didn’t get a chance to try the food, but from what I saw being passed around it looked pretty tasty. Not a giant menu, dips, sandwiches and the like. Seems like somewhere you’d come for apps and drinks rather than a full on dinner.

Too bad this place turned into what it is now. Nothing to look forward to here, dead here. Overpriced beer with a few games and tv’s, nothing you can’t do at Home. This place was better off as a Coffee shop . Can’t say I’ll be coming back here again. Sorry guys.

I came here with a group and I was really happy with the chill atmosphere, the selection of beers on tap, and the superior service. I really enjoyed my grapefruit sculpin and hefeweizen, but my flatbread was… meh. I swear it had ragu on it instead of marinara. I had the Mediterranean flatbread and the only part I liked about it was the crust. Sliced olives that looked like they were straight from a can. The basil was fresh though which was very nice. The panini’s looked really yummy though and I nearly got the grilled cheese, in hindsight I wish I had. Still, this is a nice and cozy spot with great beers on tap and wonderful service so I will be back.

This is a friend’s hang out so I don’t want to get too critical on this place. But the very nice owner who took our order… can you please train your server better? She was so sweet, but lacked SO much confidence in not only NOT knowing her own menu, but was almost not even able to just talk to us without stuttering and showing her own lack of confidence! Even though he took our order(thank god!) she took our drink orders. My friend’s wife and I ordered ice tea and she said… we have ice tea? Look, I know it’s a pub really, but C’MON! I had to point to it on the menu to show they DID serve ice tea! She said no one ever ordered that before! What… has she been only there a few days? Geesh. Anyway, we ordered two dips(one was free with a Unilocal check in!) and the Buffalo Chicken dip just killed it! The spinach dip was super disappointing. It didn’t taste like any spinach dip I’ve ever had. And it had no flavor really. But that Buffalo dip… man, I told my friend to bury me in it! They serve their dips with pita strips that have been heated up and get a little crispy… just perfect. Loved that. I ordered a roast beef sammie with gorganzola cheese and onions on it and was ok. Not bad, just not real memorable. Now my friend ordered the sammie version of the Buffalo Chicken dip and I had a bite of that… OHMAN, it was just as good if not better than the dip because it also had this awesome bread with it! I would for sure order that next time! In the end I asked my friend why our bill was so cheap and it seems the owner took off one of the sammies, although I certainly didn’t complain about it. I guess he heard I was disappointed in one of the dips and he knew what we went through with the ice tea. Super nice of him to do that, but it wasn’t necessary. That kindness and that dip and sammie will bring me back again for sure!

I’m going to have to give this place a real review after I eat here. Came in with some friends the other evening for some beers. I was pleased with their tap beers and the various crafts that they had available. The atmosphere was real laid back and has large windows so you can enjoy the sights while sipping on some of San Diego’s finest. I’ll be back very soon and I’ll make sure I snag a bite to eat.

There is a hidden gem in Mission Hills, which serves excellent craft beer. Toma Sol has a dozen to choose from: local and a mixed variety that will make you happy. It is far from being a dive bar. I will be honest. I am not here for the food. Just the beer. When meeting up with a very good friend, he requested to come here. We had a business meeting to go over, which makes this a perfect place for conversation. A cozy atmosphere, laid back patrons and friendly service will make you feel at ease. I started off with a pint of Belching Beaver Beaver Milk Stout. This has been on my list to try, which was really worth the wait. By the time for the second round, a friendly server approached us and recommended local breweries. Toma Sol offers you the chance to have your picture on their wall. «Club 12» members have joined by drinking all 12 taps in 7 days. Not a bad deal for local recognition, but legend of the«Club 12×12» sole member(he doesn’t wear a Member’s Only jacket but has a distinguished mug). It is only earned after meeting the Club 12 requirements twelve times! An engraved name label affixed to the giant mug for the exclusive«Club 12×12» sole member. Who is this guy?!? I got more drinking to do. There will be blood! The fat: Excellent beers + service = happy drinkers The skinny: Take advantage of their $ 3.50IPA Mondays and $ 4 drafts Saturdays.
