We parked around Bankers Hill and wanted to check out a little bar that I hadn’t been too. When we walked in, it was standing room only on a Monday. So my girl and I were trying to find a place to catch the Monday Night game. Walking through Hillcrest was to no avail, unless you want to watch bowling. Finally we stumbled up to Washington St to find this little gem full of small, but a lot of TV’s. It was quiet when we walked in and it happened to be their Holiday work party. They catered in some chimichangas and appetizers and forced us to get some which was extremely appreciated because I was starving. It is cash only and the drinks are cheap. The crowd was familiar with each other so it seems to be a locals bar that doesn’t cater to the WeHo crowed per say. Business picked up as the evening went on. I will definitely be back. The bartenders are adorable and very attentive.

I love this place! Been here several times but tonight 10÷17÷157:57 pm i have had the worst service ever that makes me not want to come back. We came in celebrating a birthday and were sitting in a booth, enjoying our drinks. Because she has not been at our table to see if we want more drinks, i go up to order another round. As she is making the drinks, i come back to the table to get my cash. She calls from the bar to tell me my total. As I’m counting my money she starts to scream from the counter again telling me my total and wanting me to get my drinks at the same time. No customer service and laziness for not coming to the tables to assist. Have never had this service here. Love this place but the service tonight no bueno!

This place is so divey it wins as a dive bar. Great for pregaming, or great to pregame before going here. All first time visitors will be confused in finding the restroom — when I was here they put the sign on the wrong door. They’re almost inviting people to unload wherever they please.

So we live a block away. This used to be our go to spot for drinks! Destiny and Jennie are the best!!!(The five stars are solely for those two bartenders btw they’re the reason we come back) Last week someone bought a bunch of board games for customers to play(so fun and a way to make people hang out and drink!!!) but apparently the owner said that was not allowed(what a party pooper! And apparently a bad business man, or lonely, apparently he sits at home and watches the cameras, who wants that?!) If that’s the attitude that runs it, I can see why the business has died down so significantly in the years I’ve been coming here. I’m sure that this place would be a drinking destination not just a spot to kill time while you’re waiting for your table at sushi deli… apparently lamplighter or nunus is a better choice for a casual weekend drink. Side note-what bar isn’t given a comp tab to buy regulars/special occasions a round?!

Good bar tenders come through, but the creepy guy who owns the place keeps chasing off the good ones. He’s got this camera system that he constantly micromanages the understaffed place through. I had been going here and supporting the place, but after seeing and hearing how he treats the staff, encourages them to steal from customers, and the creepy camera micromanagement… I can’t give this fool any more money. Not stepping another foot in here, and my friends won’t either.

This place is a real dump. I love it. I come here on occasion for a cheap buzz, second hand smoke and television. They have a lot of flat screen tvs everywhere, so catching football on a Sunday is actually kinda cool. Some helpful stuff: Cash only but ATM inside, few beers on tap(Stone IPA, Stella, Guinness, Bud, CL, others), they have bar snacks available for purchase, but they let you bring outside food in(nearby: Bronx, JBox, Panda, Med. Café, El Cuervo.), oh and sometimes on Sundays the Owner will buy a few pizzas for everyone. Check it out! *I live around the corner, so that’s probably why I come here. Cheers!

was amazing. She was so welcoming and fun at 1 am… I work in a bar so where everyone else rolls their eyes and says last call. she encouraged us to sit and drink.

Great dive bar! They pour a good drink and there’s always some great people watching and funny conversations going on. Just expect to come to, well, a dive bar. Cash only, so come prepared!

This is our local dive bar as it’s very close to home. Always have a great time playing the jukebox or chatting up randoms on the patio. Also, Jenny is the coolest and best bartender!

Came to CJ’s Club while we were waiting for Sushi Deli to open. They’re a dive bar, so they don’t have fresh ingredients. They also don’t accept cash was completely surprising to me because it’s 2015 and who doesn’t use or accept card?! Drinks were cheap, three drinks rang us up at ~$ 11, where downtown one drink will cost you an arm and a leg. Bartender was nice, but I don’t think I’ll be back again. The place is very small, limited seating.

Nice dive bar. Especially if you are waiting to eat sushi next door. Prices are reasonable.

CJ’s doesn’t look that great from the outside but inside is a different story. It’s a very comfortable bar, the staff is nice and the drinks are super affordable.

Cheap booze, divey atmosphere, smoking patio and sports. What more could you ask for? It’s a great place to relax and grab a drink!

It’s better than you think it is. Remember its still a «dive». Drinks are cheap. Cash only. Friendly Staff. Dog Friendly. TV’s. Booths. What more could you ask for?

A lot nicer than I thought it was… It had a lot of flat screens all over the bar and the bar seating was pretty good. The Filipino lady wasn’t working when we came Friday night. Drinks were decent and cheap. There were a fair amount of people. Good spot before hitting up the sushi joints or a good pre drinking place. Only complaint, there’s a small patio to smoke, but all the smoke just gets in the bar because of the opening and closing of the doors and the wind blowing it inside… so basically a useless feature to keep smoke out of the bar.

Love CJs, it’s our favorite dive bar. We come here every Friday after hitting Rk Café. Jackie is the best. She always remembers our drinks and is just a cool person to talk with.

I am a big fan of CJ’s. The cocktails are about $ 3 – 5 with kind pours. Beers are priced about the same. They have plenty of TV’s and the servers will put on any game you like. I also love that its next door to the Sushi Deli, which usually has a long wait. I always sneak in CJ’s for a few drinks while I wait. Then I somehow find myself back at CJ’s when Im done eating. The servers are always cool people. I like this spot!

For some reason, I had always been scared to go into CJ’s. I’m not really sure why, but I was. However, one Saturday night I got a mean craving for Sushi Deli. After entering my name onto the list after about 15 other parties, my friend and I were assessing our wait. She said, «Why don’t we just go grab a drink at that bar next door?», and I said, «Ok!» And it was decided. So, we popped on in. Booths on one side, bar on the other. Small, but sufficient. We saddled up to the bar and ordered a couple of beers; 2 pints was around 6.50(I believe a Stella and a Bud Light were ordered). Super reasonable! We threw back a couple and walked back over to SD just in time to hear our name called. The bartender was nice and the prices are right. This place gets the job done. I’m glad I have a new way to spend my Sushi Deli waiting times!

This is a very chill neighborhood bar. It’s not much to look at, and it’s not really a place where you should come dressed to kill or anything, but it’s a cool place to grab a drink or two and just hang out. My friend knows a bartender here so we stopped by one night after dinner. I had a couple drinks and played some dart games with some friends. The great thing about this place is that you can bring food in from elsewhere and eat it in peace. Some guys brought in Bronx Pizza from across the street and shared so I was all over it. Oh yeah, it’s cash only, but there is an ATM there in case you need to pull out.

This place can grow on you. Since I just moved to the area I’ve been checking out my new surroundings and My Hunny and I stumbled upon CJ’s. It’s a small dive bar with lots of small TVs. Prices are decent and the bartenders are pretty cool. Two thumbs up for Sylvia! It’s a cash only bar but you can always run across the street to Mission Credit Union ATM instead of paying the ATM machine inside of CJ’s. They have a small patio for the smokers and/or people watchers in the front of the bar… almost makes you feel like you’re in County with the crazy metal bars they have. If you sit in the prime seat the bartender will even serve you drinks through the window. What makes this place interesting are the people… We’ve been some crazy ass people here and some super cool people. You have some 80 year old ladies to 21 year old cool kids. You got the jocks to the gay guys to the Hillbillies to the people that just got off work from UCSD. It’s always been adventure. Oh and don’t forget Fernando, the owner that works in the mornings… funny as hell but his staff thinks he a major jerk. Best tip I got for you is if you’re hungry and don’t want to wait in that long ass line at Sushi Deli just walk in place your order come back 20 minutes later and eat at one of the booths in CJs. Most irritating thing about CJs though is that the mirror in the woman’s bathroom is so high and can only see my chin if my standing on my tiptoes. Please put a lower mirror in there so I can check out if I have something on my butt.
