Rude waiter! How can you tell us the kitchen is closed then ask the table behind us if there is anything else they want to order because the kitchen is ALMOST closed?! How can one guy give us the dessert menu then another tell us we cant order because the kitchen is closed?! We are here to spend money. In fact, we are here frequently on Wednesdays! Be careful how you treat customers… We can spread the word to either give good or bad publicity. Thank you to the owner who apologized for his waiter’s bad treatment!!!

Dropped by here after the longest time after seeing this place pop up on my Unilocal and having it bookmarked for so long. Boyfriend went in first to order as I only had a hour lunch so I swung by once my lunch started to join him for our lunch date on a Friday. He ordered the dumplings appetizer and then a lemon chicken with rice. Dumplings were delicious and the lemon chicken with rice was pretty good. Lunch hour on Friday was decently crowded. Service seemed fast to me as he already ordered. The cool thing was that we had won a gift card for this place from a raffle and that afterwards we could start using it to accumulate points every time we eat at Khans.

Second Visit. 06÷6÷2016 Just to update my review for this hidden gem Gastro pub. I have to stay with 4 Stars because the food tonight could have been a bit warmer when arriving at my table. Tonight I decided to sit in the bar for dinner instead of the dining room decided to sit in the bar for dinner instead of the dining room. The Bar Area is first class with lots of Great table areas to sit. Tall tables short tables and even a nice bar. Again the service was a full four stars. Even the owner came by to see how I was doing and it was such a pleasure to meet and talk with. Now for the food. Tonight I started with the Dumpling Sampler. The dumplings could’ve been a bit warmer on the plate but the flavors were still fantastic. This time they came with two spicy hot condiment dipping sauces. Very Good. Next I ordered The Roasted Mongolian ½ Rack Of Lamb. My Only Mistake was not ordering a full order. The lamb was some of the best I’ve ever had. I see why this is their signature Dish. I will be back to have this again. I washed it all down with a couple of Heineken Beers. For dessert I had The Banana Cream Cheese Xango. (Mascarpone cheese in a Crispy shell kind of like a cannoli only Hot) Tasty and satisfying. To wash down the desert I had a drink I haven’t found in many places in a long time. A real Keoke Coffee. Nice, Tasty And Strong but again only lukewarm. Needed to be a lot hotter and was a bit pricey. Maybe because this was a Monday night the Cooks were just a bit off. All in All I Enjoyed my Dinner and will be looking forward to the next time I can get up this way for another meal. Bön appétit.

Went without reservations on a busy night, and the hostess was nice about getting us a seat right away. One of the servers saw that we were getting seated, and she made a groaning noise of complaint. Wow, what a way to make someone feel welcome. Food was too sticky sweet, overpoweringly sweet and so you cannot taste any other flavors besides soy sauce and sugar. To top it all off, our waiter(an older man) hit me in the back of the head with his elbow while he was walking by with a tray, and HEDIDN’T EVENAPOLOGIZE! He just pretended like it didn’t happen. Shame on you! I will never go back here again.

I came here with a co worker to have lunch. This was my first time here. We entered and got seated right away by the hostess. My co worker was telling me how good this place is. We got waters to drink. They have a lunch special menu. I decided to go with the creamy walnut shrimp with brown rice. It also came with a side salad. I took a bite of the shrimp and it was creamy and crunchy. The salad was lightly drizzled with a light dressing. The brown rice was cooked to perfection. Everything tasted great. My coworker had the cashew chicken and said it was delicious. Service was great and friendly. Waitress was quick to refill our waters. I loved the décor inside the restaurant and there was plenty of seating during the early lunch hour. We got there around 11 am or so. Parking was easy if you get here early. As we left, parking was getting full. I will definitely be back to try other items on their menu. They have happy hour and a bar which is separated from the dining area. I highly recommend this place.

I am a fan of Khan’s Cave Asian Tavern & Grill. Stopped by after working out and I loved it. They had good music playing and the servers/bartenders were absolutely charming and nice. TIP: Happy Hour All Night on Wednesdays Food: Xia Long Bag Spicy Popcorn Chicken Seared Skirt Steak with Onions All three dishes were delicious. After looking at the menu, they have different types of steaks served as a special. Also, on Saturdays they have live music. YAY! Ambiance is chill, nice décor and a lot of seating.

Ordered the lettuce wrap(not sure that’s the name), rack of lambs, and they were perfect! Been working in China for two years, so I’m able to tell that this wrap is pretty authentic! The rack was tender, saucy, and just the right type of medium rare. Appetizers and other dishes were also pretty good, and I will go back for sure! PS. The draft beer the waiter recommended(forgot the name tho) was also tasty! Icelandic draft beer!

I must say I am now a fan. Today I decided to go to lunch with a friend to Khan’s Cave. I had the Chicken Dan Dan Noodle and she had Tangy Crispy Chicken, both dishes were extremely tasty. The Dan Dan Noodle was in a spicy peanut sauce with enough heat to make my nose run. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the sauce was plentiful as well as the chicken. I immediately dived into this dish whereas I did not even get a chance to take a picture. I don’t think I ever put the fork down I just kept on eat each amazing forkful until it was gone. My friend raved about the Tangy Crispy Chicken and stated it was the best she has had. I must admit I had a taste and the chicken was perfectly cooked not hard and dry with the perfect blend of spices and sauce. Each dish was scrumptious and I will definitely be back for more.

I had wanted to eat here for a while now and finally did for dinner the other night. Came in and were sat down right away. I was not impressed with their HH menu, nothing seemed to be that good of a deal. We went with the waffle fries, a complete panic order. They tasted like, you guessed it, waffle fries. We then ordered the Singapore chow mein and honey want shrimp. Everything came out of the kitchen extremely fast. I thought the chow mein and honey walnut shrimp were pretty good dishes with good portions too. The service was fast and good.

Khan’s is a spacious place with lots of food options. Inside there is plenty of room for seating with nice décor. The staff was attentive and friendly. Our order included, lettuce wraps, duck sliders, fried rice, garlic Naan, spicy shrimp appetizer, and a half rack of lamb. The spicy shrimp appetizer was my favorite, I loved it. Everything else was also good and I enjoyed it. Although the fried rice I personally thought was a tad plain I wouldn’t order it again. The garlic Naan appetizer was OK again I probably would try something different. The lamb chops were good, they had a nice BBQ Mongolian style flavor that I enjoyed very much. The duck sliders didn’t blow my mind but they were good and worth ordering. All in all I think this place is doing a pretty decent job giving you LOTS of menu options and plenty of elbow room to enjoy. It takes a lot to knock my socks off, call me spoiled. I probably won’t be back I’ll be off trying new places and Unilocaling it, but at the same time I enjoyed my experience here and hopefully you will also. Happy eating!

Stopped on in with my fiancée for lunch during the week. Around 11am The ambiance and décor is interesting. Alot going on. Theres a dining area and a bar area. The Happy hour looks pretty good, maybe one day i will give that a shot Only a few people were sitting around waiting for food. Mostly workers that worked around the area it looked like. We sat in the bar area, and ordered waters and food. My fiancée ordered the Loco moco with brown rice– The patty was a over cooked but the gravy was pretty good. I ordered the Chicken curry with brown rice. the chicken was rubbery, the rice was lacking in portion, but the sauce was pretty good. –also the food took 20minutes to come out. A bit long for only a few people waiting. not sure if they were just warming up the grills at that time. but its a long time to wait especially if your one taking a 1 hour lunch break. Id try this place again and give it a shot probably for dinner. But for now. its just ok for me.

Best Asian fusion in San Diego. Specialties in lamb are the best. Great happy hour deals and become a member for regular discounts. Check out the daily«whisper» deals for amazing dishes not on the menu and unbelievably priced. Frozen mango dessert is my favorite! Great beer and wine selections too. Casual and live music on weekends.

I believe that all of these reviews suffer from«bar syndrome». That is, I think that the reason people aren’t accurate in their reviews for this restaurant is because they likely went there to go to the bar and not to eat delicious food– although admittedly the drinks are HORRENDOUS as well. My boyfriend and I visited this establishment hoping to have a yummy drink and some good Asian fusion. The first red flag was that the place was dead on a Saturday night. Then I noticed that the floor was sticky and the place smelled like old, spilled alcohol. The prices that they charge for their food is outrageous. After the meal, my boyfriend remarked that the experience wouldn’t have been as painful if they cut their prices by about 30%. The moral of the story is: this place is overpriced, has bad craft cocktails, needs a good cleaning, and needs to re-think the food they are serving.

I admit that I tend to stay away from«Asian fusion» anything. I visited for happy hour a looooong time ago and was not happy. The food was really awful. The menu was a mess. It did not taste good and was too salty. I didn’t want to write a terrible review unless I gave it another chance(which I hadn’t planned on doing). Fast forward to today. I’ve been(reluctantly) dragged here twice by the boyfriend. Luckily for me, he does not carry the same disdain for Asian fusion that I do. Admittedly, I’ve only eaten the banana dessert(twice), which is pretty darn good. How can one say no to creamy cheesecake banana encased in crispy, doughy goodness? Last time, boyfriend ordered a chicken and lettuce wrap dish. It smelled really, really, really good. I think I will come back and actually eat the food next time around. It may even become my guilty pleasure. I’ll have to rethink my narrow view on Asian fusion.

I was pleasantly surprised when I came to Khans Cave. The name and location possibly through me off, and walking in, I thought this was just another bar and grill place. We started off with appetizers since it was happy hour. We had the calamari and lettuce wraps. The chicken for the lettuce wraps were tasty. Each order came with around 5 lettuce pieces. Fire Cracker Calamari wasn’t bad, but from the name and description I anticipated a burst of spiciness or flavor. Happy hour went into dinner. To eat I ordered the pork chop which comes with broccoli and rice. Others ordered the cashew chicken, and dumpling sampler. The pork chop is a ribeye cut with peppercorn sauce on top. The pork chop was moist and tender. The cashew chicken was good. Service was excellent. I did not get our servers name, but he was attentive and helpful. If we needed anythjng, the other servers helped out. Happy hour is a good time to come. They have several TVS to watch games. Their bar area is pretty large with additional seating outside. They also have a dining area available. I would definitely come back!

It’s alright… My coworkers and I come here every so often for lunch. To me this place is like an Asian diner, serving up a myriad of average Asian dishes that are a little over priced. Yes it’s in Kearny Mesa, but definitely does not live up to the standard KM/Convoy qualities. I guess I’m just not a fan of this place because it’s just not tasty.

Whoa! You don’t hear that often, but surprisingly nice. Gentleman walks in, ‘Can I get a table over here for two?’ In perfect Cantonese… From a white guy! I think the owner was surprised too! Lol! It’s been a long while since I have been here, but I remember the food being pretty good. The atmosphere is nice, with a Thai Asian infusion feeling. I work pretty close by and felt like some chow fun(thick rice noodles stir fried) it’s one of my favorite dishes. I ordered it Togo so I can go back to work and get some stuff done. Their response was not quick just to order. Sitting here waiting for my order… Was not fast either. Apparently my food was ready and no one followed up, so my food was chilling and I was just hanging out. Definitely call in a Togo order. The restaurant was not packed during lunch, a decent crowd. Parking in this lot is always full, but if you circle around, people leave. I have always found parking. I do like their beef chow fun. The taste is on point and cooked correctly. The portion is smaller than one would expect(of typical Chinese dishes). But I have come to find in San Diego good Chinese is not plentiful nor cheap. The happy hour menu pricing has a slight discount but nothing to leave work early for, good till 7pm M-F. I’ll be back to check that out.

I found Khan’s Cave in the San Diego Reader and decided to give it a try for HH. Since we were not familiar with the menu we decided to stick with what we knew. We decided to sample several of the small plates. We had the wings Thai Chili and Peppery Fried both were good. Dumpling sampler and Pub Steak & Fries also good. The food was not bad per say it was just mediocre. Nothing I sampled had a particular Wow factor.

First off very weird location and such a strange décor. You walk in and are food that is a tavern, but then you get seated in the back of the restuarant and are fooled that its a sit down chinese food place. We order a boat load of stuff, from the calamari, Khan’s special ramen, sriracha hot wings, and pork buns. The calamari, ramen, and pork buns were delicious, worth getting. The hot wings I was not able to try but was told they were really spicy. But, what topped it off was our bill came up to $ 74 so we divided it by 3. With different amounts for the 3 of us, we tell the waiter to charge different amounts on two cards and have cash for the other. He then started to write down the amount and add them up in front of us. Then tell us that we are short because he calculated $ 65. We were shocked, REALLYDUDE! Just because us asians are great at math doesn’t mean you need to prove it. But guess what you were WRONG! So we show him on our phone what the calculations were and I told him to go ring it up on his register, that will show you the correct amount. He looked at us and walked away. After that uncomfortable and rude experince, I probably will not come here again.

While they have a good happy hour from I think 3 – 7, The service is HORRIBLE the three or so times I’ve been. Not only did it take 10 mins to be greeted to take my order, but another 10 to get my drink(and every other time I ordered one), mind you we were a table of 7 which should= $, but apparently not to them. I order the bbq pork sliders and they were fine I suppose if you don’t mind huge chunks of fat and very little sauce. Granted the meat was tender. I got fries with them which were a perfect amount but not really for the 2.50 they charge to add them on. Not to mention the HUGE chunk of someone else’s food stuck hard as a rich onto the plate… UNDER the fries so I didn’t see them until I finished them and proceeded to throw up in my mouth. What got me was that he either was told or had the balls enough to come back himself and say it was MY food rock hard stale stuck to the plate, seriously!!! I know people can lie but he even scraped at it himself. At least they have decent lychee martinis… the only weird thing was that the waitress served our third round but made us pick them up of the tray she held and inch from me…

Appetizers… Ahh he, Poke Asian platter, Dumpling platter, Fire Cracker Squid, Panko Shrimp. Entries… Lamb Brochette, Ginger Glazed Shrimp, Seafood Linguini, Specialty Rib Eye,(Aweaome Spicy Hot Dog for the Hungry Little Girl), Grilled Salmon, H S Naan brocheete. Drinks… … … … … !!! Gosh Just witnessed a Ferocious Mud Pie Attack. Two in our party said their drinks was off. But Khan was nice and accommodated switching. These two peoples are very familiar with drinks. Guess bartender was not on Game this night. Our family frequents Khan’s Cave. And will again LOL. I was spooked. So my drink was Ice Tea.

I went to Khan’s Cave(KC) once for a work lunch, but I had the chance recently to meet a friend here for dinner. KC is one of her favorite places, and as a restaurant regular, she always likes to go during Happy Hour. I have to admit, this place definitely is a great spot for HH. The HH is usually from 3 – 7 p.m. during the week, and there are a good amount of items on the menu. Since just two of us were there for dinner, we got several items to share. However, it was hard to just select a few items that I wanted! TIP: Check in on Unilocal and you can get half off on your first drink. I normally don’t order beer with my meals … but I saw my favorite«Peanut Butter Stout» from Belching Beaver was on the menu, so I had to go with that since I don’t see it available that often at restaurants. The restaurant was more crowded than usual – according to my friend – because there were two grad parties going on at the same time. So, though service wasn’t the best it could have been, our server was still pleasant and my friend and I had a great conversation, so we didn’t mind the wait. Here’s what we got: «Garlic Naan»: This is a great appetizer to share. I liked the taste and texture of the flatbread – not too crispy and crunchy for my liking – and it contained just enough garlic taste. I love the flavor of garlic, so any type of garlic bread I order has to have enough on there! And I do like naan, in general, so this was a good flatbread to start off with. «Lettuce Wraps»: This app came with four cups and you could choose your filling — either chicken or vegetarian. Of course, we decided to go with the chicken option because I wanted some meat in our dinner. My friend just ordered the crispy noodles that usually come in the lettuce cups on the side because she doesn’t like them, but that was fine by me. I thought the lettuce tasted fresh and the chicken was flavorful; the bowl of chicken that was provided wasn’t too little so that each cup got a good portion of the meat. I’d definitely order this dish again if I’m in the mood for something lighter and fresh. «Sliders»: You can choose between crispy fish and BBQ pork and you basically get three of one kind of slider(I think you are charged a slight fee if you want different meats). Though I really do like BBQ pork, I wanted to try the crispy fish since I do like fish sandwiches. The sliders with the fish were awesome; the fish was light yet flavorful, and we ordered the tartar sauce on the side so I could spread it on the sliders at my leisure. The buns were soft and I actually ended up really liking the tartar sauce flavor — it didn’t have too strong of a mayo flavor for my liking. «Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Stout»: Since you can get your first drink at 50 percent off with a Unilocal check-in, my friend and I took advantage of this and ordered the«Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Stout,» since this is my favorite beer and I don’t often find it at many places. My friend and I basically shared the glass since I still can’t drink the entire one by myself, but we both enjoyed it. If you like peanut butter/coffee, you’re sure to like this flavor. «Mud Pie»: There were so many different desserts to choose from, but we settled on this one. I thought that the pie would come with less whipped cream and a little more chocolate(and I also thought it would be served a la mode), but I was wrong on all those accounts. The majority of the pie had a mousse-like texture that was similar to pudding, and the entire top portion consisted of whipped cream. I probably should have asked what was in the pie before ordering it, but it was still yummy and provided a sweet end to the meal. I think the cookie crust was my favorite part of this pie. «Egg Fried Rice»: I had my eye on this fried rice dish, and perhaps next time, I’ll get to try it. I’m not sure what else this fried rice entails besides eggs; I normally don’t like too many ingredients in my fried rice(just meat and eggs), but if this dish is popular, I would make an exception. «Spicy Popcorn Chicken»: This dish caught my eye because I absolutely love crispy chicken – as well as garlic and basil – but I wasn’t sure about the chicken’s spice level. I’ll have to ask one of the servers next time, as I do love the crunchy, savory taste of popcorn chicken and wouldn’t mind trying the KC version if it’s not too spicy. «Sauteed Garlic Butter Shrimp»: I have a weakness for garlic shrimp, and this one sounds phenomenal because it’s tossed in white wine. I don’t get sautéed shrimp all that often, but this dish provides the perfect solution for when I have a craving for it. What can be better that shrimpy, buttery, garlicky goodness?

50% off 1st drink means there’s a bug in your drink. I ordered an old fashioned and I found and bug in it. Terrible! As for food, I ordered the lettuce wraps which were standard. The wings weren’t and good as most places. I just like the fact that they have a variety on the menu but aren’t ALL good. Most of them are but what I ordered that day wasn’t pleasing.

Wow! So sadly disappointed! A recommendation from a good friend who went there a year or so ago. I liked the 4 stars and the menu looked good. When we were seated there was a server on a cell phone pacing next to our table. When he hung up he turned and asked us what we wanted to drink… so you’re not on break? He showed us the happy hour menu and I got a glass of wine(both our wines were terrible!). My wine was $ 8 on both the happy hour menu and normal menu and when I showed our server my Unilocal check in offer of 50% off my first drink he told me I was saving more with the happy hour price… I asked if the wine was typically $ 16 a glass, in which case it is spoiled and I would have pointed that out! Finally got my 50% off that $ 8 glass! Oh the food… where to begin?! The pork sticky buns were good but really dry, the wings were flavorful but so greasy, and the seared skirt steak, we sent it back immediately! It looked so good, cooked to a beautiful red inside, at first bite… we couldn’t chew through it and it was coated in a strange oil. No flavor other than the onions it was served with. Do not waste your time! I see how this place may be a hit in the evening as it’s the only restaurant near tons of business parks with easy access to the freeway, but you should try somewhere else.

This place is so funny! I actually laughed when we drove up, because I had read reviews with people stating how it’s hard to find… but I don’t see how because the whole storefront is covered in lights! Not what you would expect from an ‘Asian tavern’. We came on a Wednesday night for happy hour(happy hour is from 3-close on Wednesdays). I ordered the lychee martini(you can order it spicy or sweet — I ordered sweet), my friend the scarlet mimosa, and we shared the garlic naan and chicken lettuce wraps. The chicken lettuce wraps were really good, and a great price($ 7). The garlic naan was also something I’d order again because it was cheap and pairs well with a sweet drink($ 4). The happy hour menu is quite extensive and includes dishes that could serve as entrees. The last thing I ordered was a glass of cabernet, and my friend ordered a pacifico — both were really cheap and I almost wished I’d started off with a glass of wine. On a wednesday night it definitely wasn’t full, tons of room to find a seat, but people started filling in a little later in the evening. I’d come back here for happy hour if it weren’t so far to drive for me!

Hidden in the back of a little strip mall, this place is worth finding! I met a friend for lunch and ordered the panko chicken sandwich which came with fries and a salad. The chicken had a perfect panko crust and was tender and juicy. The bun was soft and fresh but held together until the very last bite. The lettuce was fresh and the sauce — whatever it was — tasted delicious. The fries were crisp and the asian fusion salad had a dressing that made me want the salad to never end. All of this was priced extremely well and was the perfect lunch portion — I wasn’t stuffed but left feeling full. I should also mention I had a Thai iced tea to drink and it was as good as anything I’ve had at the best Thai restaurants I’ve been to. Service was attentive but lacking any warmth. But that might have been because she was observant and didn’t want to be intrusive; I hadn’t seen my friend in a year and we were engrossed in deep conversation. If I lived in the area I’d be a regular here. Great place — 4.5 stars!
