La Mexican Fiesta

Delicious food and generous portions. Super friendly; I think this is family-​owned. I had the carne asada plate, which came with rice, beans, guacamole and lettuce. Clean dining area. Plenty of parking.

My family and I absolutely love this place. Their carne asada tacos, carne asada fries and pork adobada tacos are good. The meats are seasoned well and nothing bland like other places. Their guacamole is a bit different and believe they add sour cream to it but its not bad at all. The salsa is on the spicy side including the green sauce. We definitely will be back to try more.

Mildly obsessed with this spot. Authentic Mexican food that’s so good I could visit twice a day!

This used to be called something else. As i was too tired to deal with the traffic on Mira Mesa and go to one of the other Mexican restaurants i figured i’d try this spot again. Should have known better as the restaurant was empty. Nice salsa bar and friendly staff, and great prices, but the flavor and the quality of the food was just no. The filled there Surf N Turf burrito with this saucy salsa that did not compliment the burrito well in my opinion. The meat, like another review mentioned, smelled off. I wouldn’t say spoiled really but just OFF. i have no idea. I will not be back and would not recommend. There are plenty of other local Tacquerias that i feel have better food.

Taco Tuesdays 1.19 is the best here. The tacos are the shit and the sauce DO NOT EVEN GET ME STARTED… The sauce is perfectly spiced! They have saved there self because about a year and a half ago. Their food sucked @ss! But they have Def redeem themself.

I love their fries here. But the meat is ok, sometimes it has a smell/​weird taste it. I stay away from the burritos. I love their tortilla chips with free salsa! Nice salsa bar and they don’t mind you taking a lot or charge you for taking a lot. Very sweet cashier lady!

Been going to this place for 30 years! I knew the original owners and know the current owners. I ate there everyday in 1989 while pregnant with my oldest! Our kids went to school together. The customer service is awesome and the food incredible! The salsas are made fresh everyday, I craved spicy while pregnant and would drink it fresh out of the container! Make sure to ask for Mexican guacamole, it’s good and chunky and taste like Mexico! Although a little more than some of the Mexican restaurants in town, the owners make it up with the wonderful friendly service!

Recently stopped in for Taco Tuesday. I played it a little safe and chose one chicken taco with rice and beans. Came out to $ 4 – 5. BF got an order of three carnitas tacos, at maybe $ 1.50 each. Our containers were huge! I should have taken a pic — was too hungry to remember — because the one taco I got was probably as big as two of the smaller carnitas ones. It was delicious! So much meat that I actually stole one of the extra tortillas from the carnitas (the street tacos are all double wrapped) and made myself a second taco. The rice and beans were really good too, and BF enjoyed his carnitas very much. Their salsas are pretty tasty too. Really spicy and delicious. Can’t wait to go back.

First time there and I thought the food was great! Hot sauce was on point, their carne asada fries was BOMB and it was a good size, so I will be coming back again for sure.

Good quality. Clean place. Comfortable seating. Not too loud. No TV. Fresh food. SERVED ON PLATES!!! Salsa bar is great! The best onions I’ve had in a Mexican place for a long time… really! Sweet onions are difficult to come by in a restaurant.
Down side is they still use plastic utensils, unclear if you pay for chips or not, and awkward feeling if you are the only customers there. Might be the awkward ordering counter… don’t sit with your back to the door and you might not notice.

I’ve been coming here for years and the owners have always been very friendly. I’ve gotten many of their dishes but my favorites are the Carne Asada Fries or a chicken burrito. Their fries are good, I like how they season their meat. They also add in tomatoes to give it a sweet tangy taste. The chicken burrito is good, prepared a little on the sweeter side but its a unique taste and the portion is big.
They have a Salsa bar so you can get as much hot sauce as you would like. They also have some sides available there. I recommend the green and red sauce here, its very good and prepared fresh on ice so its always cold. The décor is nice and fairly modern and the plaza they are situated in has plenty of parking.
This is a take out or dine in type of restaurant. If you are dining in, they have complimentary chips there that are kept hot. Food comes out fairly quick and they do get pretty busy during lunch and dinner rush.
Come in and give this place a try, you will be glad you did.

Worst carne asada quesadilla I have ever tried. I went to get a carne asada quesadilla the other day and got it pretty quick which I thought was pretty cool, until I got home and opened my food. The quesadillas did not look nor tasted good. I opened the quesadilla to find that they had added tomato and onion inside of it and a lot of seasoning. The combination was not good at all. I didn’t even finish it because of the bad taste, it was as if they had covered the taste of the carne asada & cheese with all the seasoning, tomatoes, and onions. It was pretty gross tbh and I’m not trying to be mean here im just saying it how I see it. I honestly feel like throwing up and nauseous after eating it, I hope it’s not bc of the quesadilla. The meat looked pretty well cooked, maybe it was just that the seasoning and the tomatoes upset my stomach.

I’ve been coming to this shop my entire life basically and I always love it. Same location since then. The quality of the food is really good and hasn’t changed much over the years. And yes I do notice the guacamole, but the «fake» and real stuff both taste good and doesn’t affect the final product too much. Most of the time it’s slow, but the food comes out fast. I remember when they had arcade cabinets in the back; still wish they kept them.

The absolute best mexican food I’ve ever had. Have been going here for a while and plan to for a while. Would reccomend to everyone!

So, my bf and I were craving a burrito after the gym and decided to give this place a try since it was on the way home. Let me just say, my ‘cheat’ calories were TOTALLY wasted on this place and that made me sad.
We ordered a carne asada burrito and it was yuck. The meat was super hard/​old/​cheap. And there was no taste in the burrito. =(The salsa was also super salty.
Gave this place an extra star cos the lady at the counter was super nice. But I’m still so sad that the burrito was so disappointing.

I’ve been going to Mexican Fiesta since 2001. The owners are incredibly nice. The place is clean and salsa bar is always full.
I love their «fake» guacamole. Their rolled tacos with the salsa is my favorite. I got my daughter hooked on their food. I prefer this restaurant over the others in Mira Mesa.

The carne asada burrito was pretty good. The actual meat was good, very well seasoned. But I’m used to burritos being stuffed. Before even opening the burrito I could tell it was lacking. And as I suspected, the burrito was «flatter» than I’d hoped for in a burrito. So I didn’t really feel like I got my money’s worth. My sister got a quesadilla that I thought was pretty good. It had sour cream, guacamole, carne asada, some beans. Though her biggest complaint was it didn’t have enough cheese to be called a quesadilla, it was more of a «super flat carne asada burrito». Also the horchata is way too sweet, but I think it’s a fountain drink brand or something.

CREAMY GUACAMOLE IN THE HOUSE! A lot more Mexican fast food restaurants offer «American Guacamole» (sour cream + guacamole blended together) in the East County, so the move to Mira Mesa left us hoping to find a place that had it. Grateful to all the negative Unilocalers who cried about their «fake guacamole,» because that’s how we found this place!
First, they offer BOTH kinds of guacamole — Mexican (regular) and American (creamy, blended with sour cream). You have a CHOICE. No point in giving negative reviews if you don’t like the creamy stuff.
+ Friendly lady greeted us and took the order. Seems like a nice, family establishment.
+ Take out order was ready very quickly.
+ She asked whether we want creamy or regular guacamole for each item. No excuses to hate on them, guys!
+ Salsa bar offerings were tasty and the bar was kept chilled. They have a salsa fresca option + a grilled, red salsa option. Both mildly spicy.
+ We tried (1) 5 Rolled Tacos with Guacamole (American), Lettuce, Tomatoes + Cheese (2) Cheese Quesadilla and (3) Carne Asada Burrito. Everything was on point.
+ Lots of parking and the shopping center is currently undergoing a facelift, which will hopefully draw a bit more attention to this little gem.
Definitely will be going back. We are so excited to have found a creamy guacamole joint near Mira Mesa!

Sadly, this place has gone downhill.
The food itself is the same, the portions have gotten incredibly tiny. Usually I only eat half a burrito, on a recent trip I ate my entire burrito! The shredded beef (was the same), but it was about 25−50% less of what they use to give you.
I would recommend Cotixan over this place.

Fanfare, please — my first one-​star review! Here’s how it went down…
The first clue I should have had was by how run down this place was. The salsa bar wasn’t that clean or well stocked, a lot of the signage at the counter was homemade, and the free chips and arcade machine that other Unilocalers noted in their reviews were nonexistent. Sure, there was a big screen TV, but it was off. You would think this hole in the wall would have SOME ambiance, but I guess not.
The second clue I should have paid attention to was how fast I got my rolled tacos — it was literally a minute since I placed my order and picking it up. Seeing how it was packaged in styrofoam and Saran Wrap, I wondered if the taquitos had been just warmed and had the toppings ladled on them. And given how the insides were a bit mushy and warm, perhaps that was the case.
But, here’s the kicker — Mexican Fiesta uses fake guacamole. That’s right… FAKE GUACAMOLE. Whoever came up with that idea deserves to be shot. If they use this glorified sour cream based dip on their carne asada chips and burritos… whatever, given the number of better Mexican restaurants in the Mecca (and there ARE better ones, believe me), I am so not coming back here.
One more thing — this place is located next to what was one of the diviest of the dive bars in the Mecca — the Mira Mesa Inn. Looks like it finally closed down a few months back!
