The acai bowls are the ! The staff is so nice and easy going, always trying to strike up a conversation. I ordered the large acai bowl and tasted it and I swear it was like heaven. The honey is so rich and the fruit so fresh. Most acai bowls that I get from other places are good but lack freshness and sweetness. They usually taste kind of bitter. The acai bowls here are naturally sweet. With natural flavors! Geez I have no words!

This place has great coffee! Their baristas are knowledgeable about the blends and I’ve been pleased with any drink I’ve ever ordered(which isn’t true for other coffee spots in OB). I like their muffins and acai bowls but have been disappointed my some of the other treats that tasted rather stale. The place has a comfortable, fun, and young feel to it and I like spending time in this café. I usually go in the morning or early afternoon but have been meaning to check out some of their music events in the evenings. In the past I have planned on working out of their café but had problems with the internet connection — I’m not sure if this is still an issue. If you’re on the streets of Ocean Beach and in the mood for a coffee or tea drink I would recommend you stop by!

As a Brazilian I would say the Açaí bowls are not very authentic, however they are pretty darn good. I like to call it a big yummy fruit bowl when I bring my fellow friends here. I love the hemp seed granola and the berries are endless. They also add almonds, shreded coconut and honey. It’s such a huge portion for only $ 8. I find myself going out of my way and skipping lunch at least twice a week for their bowl. Staff is always friendly and fast. Even when there is a line, it doesn’t take 5min for them to hand in my order. Don’t forget to tip!

My new favorite coffee house & right in OB! Hubby & I tried this place after I found it on a Top 10 list of best Chai Teas in San Diego. Lazy Hummingbird was #1& now we know why. We have gone back 2 or 3 times now & here is my review– This place is Funky Hippie at its Finest and they know Coffee & Tea! Their Chai Hemp Latte is The Best Ever. Just the fact that they have hemp milk is amazing in itself but the rich delicious flavor of their Chai Tea is really above & beyond any I’ve ever had. I wish I had one or 10 every day! My husband loves their Iced Vietnamese & says it’s «spot-on & definitely gives you a boost!» He can’t get enough. Being loyal Obeachians we make every effort to spend our hard earned money locally so we are quite happy & proud even to know this amazing place is right here in our community & we will frequent the Lazy H often!!! Fantastic cold brew! I’m not a huge coffee drinker, but I do like the cold brew and this place has been my favorite for a while now. For $ 5 you get a little bottle of highly concentrated brew that lasts me for usually 4 drinks mixed with milk, cream, or just on ice for a slow sip session. I have one little qualm. They offer a $ 0.50 credit for returned cold brew bottles(which is great!). But I went in with 3 bottles(it was an amped Christmas) and they would only give me credit for 1 bottle. The guy at the front went back to ask the manager how the returns worked and he came back with some weird excuse that people could take advantage of the bottle return policy by stocking up on bottles and returning them all at once. Umm how does that make a difference? I mean, if customers are stocking up on bottles, doesn’t that mean they are buying lots of bottles? Simple things like this are a real easy way to irk a customer for no reason. Logic people, that is all I ask for.

Getting a hot Dirty Bird and then taking walk to the nearby Ocean Beach pier was a great way to spend a chilly morning. Great coffee/chai combo.

Love the coffee, wonderful staff, and peace pie options here. This is a great little space for studying or conversation. Cute seating both indoors and out. Lots and lots of travelers seem to come here, which makes it difficult not to overhear their travel stories, leaving you aspiring for more adventure in your life, and inspired to find your intentions for what’s next to come. May I note that their music option is exactly what I listen to when cooking or reading at home, which is an added bonus! Only con — no bathroom.

LOVED the oatmeal, but I felt that the people behind the counter were a bit pretentious. However, I should add that I got that feeling from many places in San Diego.

Frequent customer. First time reviewing the café. I order same smoothie every time and it’s usually yummy. Acai, almond milk, fruit, heavy on blueberry. When the guy handed it to me, he said, «Oh, I didnt get the ‘heavy on bluberry part, but there’s blueberry in there’ «…frustrated that I paid $ 7, for a not quite there smoothie today. The service appears to be inconsistent, especially when the owner isn’t there. I’ll just make my own at home from now on… Also frustrated that I’ve been earning stamps on a card to earn a free coffee when I thought after 10 buys at $ 7 per smoothie, I would get a free smoothie. Sadly, I don’t drink coffee, so I handed my free coffee to someone in line behind me.

These acai bowls are the best I’ve ever had in SoCal! My friend who introduced us to this place was actually born and bred in Brazil, and he says it’s the closest he’s come to tasting the real deal. They offer two sizes — a small for $ 4.50 and large for $ 7.25. Both are infused with delicious chopped almonds, hemp granola, coconut flakes, and topped with huge strawberries and blackberries. The staff here are SUPER friendly too! Ambiance is really unique — it shares a space with a postal place, and is very small and casual. People walk in here barefoot and all! There are some couches, and artwork hanging on the walls… and it definitely has that beach shack feel.

I hardly ever go to OB but hey I was here one morning to run some errands and I needed caffeine. No Starbucks nearby, ok I will support local. Found Lazy Hummingbird with great Unilocal reviews. Honestly, LH is not the cozy kind of coffee shop that you want to sit down for a couple hours to read or lappy toppy. Chairs are not that comfy, people going in and out for the photocopy shop on the other half of the store, the crowd was… interesting. And most importantly, they don’t have a restroom! Not sure how it was possible, maybe people peed in the ocean? I ordered what Unilocalers recommended, a drink called dirty bird. It’s half chai and half espresso. brilliant, brilliant, brilliant idea! Yeah I liked it.

Dat acai bowl doe. 7.25 $ for a large that’s more than enough to share with another… but why would you want to share? Acai bowls are always a bit pricey, but if I were to ever spend what could buy a decent meal on one, it would be at the Lazy Hummingbird. They’ve found the perfect proportion of fruit, to acai, to granola, and to sweetness. The acai is ground up really well and doesn’t have that excessive grainy texture. I wasn’t into acai bowls until I came here! I love the chill environment there. It’s an ideal spot to hang out on a hot sunny day to just people watch and munch on some tasty acai bowls. It’s kinda weird that there’s like a Fedex inside the building but it’s not that big of a deal. They’re pretty quiet and somehow integrates into the ambience pretty well. It’s a small shop and I’d say it’s not ideal for long-term studying, but might be nice just for a few hours.

Came in Friday 7/3, to introduce my dear friend to their award winning iced coffee blends. Everything about this place reminds me of a local hot spot. You walk in and it’s a semi open layout and its shared with a copy/shipping place. Kinda cute. Couches, small patio and few tables for mingling, mostly wifi’ing. I didn’t want coffee, so i ordered a real fruit smoothie and it was seriously amazing. I highly recommend smoothies here if you’re not down with coffee and you’re not into coffee. They use real fruit and it reflects in the drinks. Delicious. Minus one star. $ 6.00 for a small smoothie. Whatever I’ll still likely be back.

Lazy Hummingbird is the sh%t! Hands down… you’ll always see a group of eclectic hippies hanging around, you’ll see someone working on their computer and maybe some live music will be going on. I was told first hand from a Brazilian to go there for the acai bowls. Now my routine is coffee and acai bowl whenenever I am in OB. I can’t get rid of the addiction!

So what can I say about this place? The only good thing is the Vietnamese coffee. They’ll give you coffee iced cubes in it for an extra 75 cents. My friend got a regular coffee and that pretty much tasted like dirty dish water. The actual place is really really really rundown. Like homeless person-rundown. As in there were literally homeless looking hippies sitting outside playing music. I get it– I’m in Ocean Beach, SoCal, but come on! Tell those guys to go home! They took up half the patio and I didn’t want to sit anywhere near them as I tried to enjoy my coffee and get some work done on my laptop. They don’t have a bathroom for customers either. How do you sell 20oz coffees and not have a bathroom? They told my friend she had to walk across the street to CVS if she needed a bathroom. So weird. If you want to check this place out– I recommend running in, grabbing a Vietnamese coffee and heading to the beach.
