Cali burrito and sweet potato fries. Such an absolute dream! Had to come by this place for this on our way south out of poway.

There was a short wait time for a table on a Thursday afternoon at 12pm. We ordered an eggplant tofu bowl thing and lemongrass rice dish. Samoa brownie for dessert. I like this place but every time there is something amiss. This time my order of eggplant was also amiss. It was bland, texturally unpleasant and above all heavy. I will not order it again. The lemongrass thing was tough to eat and too dry, again a little bland for my taste. Will not order it again. The Samoa brownie was scrumptious with the first bite that we had to earn because it was very hard to cut into with a fork alone. Subsequent bites left something to be desired but it wasn’t bad. I probably will not order this again either. Go try this place because there is enough variety for you to find something. They recently added fish burritos that might be my next conquest.

Five stars for being my first ever vegan restaurant ever and being so delicious! I was really pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the meal. I ordered two dishes and split with my friend. Décor and Service: so pretty! Dimly lit, I could see how it would be a great date night. Service was amazing even though it was a pretty crowded. The waiter always came up to us and asked us how we were doing. My cup was never empty. Hehe Food: 1) Clay Pot Sensation(8.50): Soy protein, seaweed braised in a soy based sauce. It reminded me of a Vietnamese dish called«Braised Fish in Clay Pot(Ca Kho To)». The protein was meant to mimic fish and did a pretty good job in doing so! There are four pretty big pieces and it’s the perfect amount to share between two people. 2) Tom Kha($ 8.95 for M): a Thai coconut sweet and sour soup with a variety of veggies. It was pretty yummy! I wish it was more creamy though. Otherwise, yum. Just the medium size was filling. Tip: check in for 10% off your order Would recommend totally.

My husband has always had a good laugh at(and general abhorrence of) vegans. So imagine my surprise when he announced one day that he wanted to try a plant based diet for a month. I thought for sure I’d jumped into a parallel universe! Meat — I can take it or leave it. I enjoy a good steak or burger, but it’s cheese that I can’t do life without. My husband, on the other hand, has a deep affection for meat, and can’t imagine a heaven in which it is not on the menu. But, after one of his favorite sports players recently raved about the results of cutting meat out of his diet, Hubby just had to put this vegan thing to the test. I have friends who have glorified Loving Hut over the years. Yes, friends that my husband mocked. He’d even laugh when we’d drive past this place, imagining all the ridiculous tofu«meats» people were pretending to enjoy inside. Fast forward to this past weekend, when, after a week of veggie finger foods and handfuls of nuts, he was begging for even a taste of something«meaty.» Here enters Loving Hut. Now, he’s half Asian, and grew up on tofu, but he just never could imagine it filling in the role of beef or chicken. The look on his face after taking that first bite of the Amazing Sauté? Pure amazement. With every bite after, he couldn’t stop raving about it. He even actually said, «if I could eat here everyday, I would never need meat again.» I ordered the large Hawaiian fried rice, which was also super yummy, and much more than I could eat in one sitting. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I think her name was Hannah. I do wish the place was bigger, to more comfortably accommodate the number of tables they have. Still, we will be returning soon because we can’t wait to try their California Burrito and Spicy Cha Cha!

My girlfriend and I came in with a Groupon during lunch on a weekday. Parking was no problem and there weren’t too many customers. We got seated right away and ordered: Loving Hut fresh spring rolls Royal noodle soup Spicy cha cha The spring rolls came out first. Springs rolls were tiny. It was like we got 1 whole roll but cut into tiny bite sizes. They were fresh and tasted good. Just wish they were a little bigger. Spicy cha cha was great. Served with brown rice, I couldn’t believe that I wasn’t eating shrimp! I think the dish could have been a little more spicier. The royal noodle soup was just ok. Had a good amount of noodles and«beef». The beef, on the other hand, tasted weird and fake. It couldn’t pass for beef like the spicy cha cha could totally pass as shrimp. The texture was kind of rubbery/chewy and just didn’t taste well to me. I think I’d come back to eat the spicy cha cha again and try other dishes. Customer service was pretty good that day.

This is one of my go to places when I want to be heathy for the day, but that probably doesn’t really work because I end up always getting fries from here, with each meal I get. Haha. The drunken noodles here are to die for! It’s filled with so much flavor! It’s also loaded with vegetables, which I like. The sauce hides that vegetable taste… For those who don’t like veggies like myself. I also like getting the spring rolls here. It pairs really well with the peanut sauce, or the spicy sauce that they offer. Yes it’s a vegan place, but trust me, the meats here really do taste like meat!

This place was good. My favorite item was the Cali burrito. The menu is seriously huge and there are so many options. Probably going to come back just for the burrito Here’s what I ordered or tried: *Boba tea– pretty good especially for my first time trying boba *Spicy spring rolls(forget the name) — really good! *Chow mein-this was okay but probably wouldn’t get again *Tom yum– this was good *Cali burrito– seriously the best burrito I’ve ever had. I was very surprised.

I love Loving Hut! And yes the pun is intended! So glad to have watched this business grow since 2011, see employees come and go, and to have become good friends with Ted and Iris. They’ve never compromised quality and portion sizes are generous. I recommend almost anything on the menu!

I don’t know why I don’t go here more often, especially when it’s just around the corner. I went in there for a little solo date night, but it was packed :/I ended up taking it to go, and even that took a while. The food is amazing though. I had the jalepeno sandwich… I forget what it was called, and the sweet potato fries. I’m getting the noodles next time I go.

I’ve had vegan before and unfortunately it tasted like a pile of bland mush(probably because it was free and was being passed around by some random organization at UCSD). Loving Hut is a far cry from bland mush as their food is the most convincing knock off of the real non-vegetarian stuff. In a good way though! All are soy and plant based and seasoned a little extra with various spices. There’s a mixture of ethnic food to be had as they offer typical American style food, Thai, Vietnamese and Mexican. I had the Lucky Lo Mein, the BBQ drum sticks, and a Thai Tea. I didn’t know any better at the time but, I thought I was eating beef in the Lo Mein. The soy product was ever so carefully crafted to mimic beef… at least the look of it. Obviously, the texture and taste were a bit off, but it was still an enjoyable meal with the noodles and vegetables. The BBQ drum sticks were a successful fool though. I completely forgot I was not eating meat. I’m really not sure how these were made, but it was a nice touch to have it on the sugar cane. Made for a nice, sweet and tasteful snack after the dense soy blocks of imitation meat. Surprisingly, the Thai Tea met my standard too. It was sweet how I like it and was still very milky. I imagine it was made with soy milk. So much soy going on, like woah. After that meal though, I can say I was a bit bloated. That soy was brewing something. And TMI maybe, but my urine smelled like major funk afterward. I enjoyed the meal, but I don’t know if I can handle that much soy(or whatever it was) during one sitting. In any case, I won’t knock on them because their food is actually very tasty. I do wonder why vegan’s won’t eat meat yet aren’t turned off by the sight of it. It is in that thinking that I believe Loving Hut to be the perfect transitory restaurant for the newly inducted Vegan. Or, as a way for the meat lover to get their Vegan fix on without entirely removing the meat experience. Just my take at least.

A couple of nights ago, my friends from Temecula planned a get together to celebrate their birthdays and start of a new job offer. And, seeing how it was a Friday, and most of us were observing Lent(as well as one of my friends having major food allergies), they decided to have their party at Loving Hut. I especially was looking forward to this, as not only hadn’t I seen my friends in a while, but I was curious about the menu… which mostly didn’t disappoint. When my friends set the reservation, they also planned out the menu, which was laid out family style. So, it went something like this — SHAREDAPPS: Texas Fries, Heavenly Salad, Tom Kha Soup The Texas Fries were basically french fries with grilled onions, topped with sour cream, sliced jalapenos, diced chilis, cheddar cheese, and grilled onions. The fries were crispy with a fluffy interior, and while delicious, I wonder if the chefs can make this with tater tots(also on the menu as a side). The Heavenly Salad was like an Asian cole slaw, with shredded cabbage, carrots, onions, bell peppers, and garnished with peanuts, soy protein, tofu, and a rice vinegar dressing… it was pretty light, although I was wondering if adding some crushed ramen noodles would’ve made it even more delicious(but would it have changed the vegetarian/vegan theme to the place? I wonder…). It was my first time having Tom Kha Soup; this hot and sour Thai dish is made with coconut milk, shredded cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, bean sprouts, mushrooms… and instead of shrimp and ham like the classic version, Loving Hut’s comes with tofu and vegan ham. Not that bad, and I want to try the original version of the soup next time I go out for Thai cuisine to compare. MAINCOURSES: Spicy Cha Cha, Amazing Sauté, Eggplant Tofu, Cha Cha Fried Rice, Drunken Noodles, Amazing Chow When doing my research on the place, almost every Unilocaler raved about the Spicy Cha Cha… and after having it, I’m inclined to agree! You can’t tell it’s soy protein, because I swear it’s like eating real panko-fried shrimps and scallops(same with the Cha Cha Fried Rice)! The Amazing Sauté is a vegan version of stir-fried beef and bell peppers, with the result being the same as the regular version. The Eggplant Tofu… well, if you’ve had Eggplant Tofu dishes at other Asian restaurants, you pretty much know what to expect(though admittedly, Loving Hut’s version isn’t as heavy on the sauce). Of the two noodle dishes, while both were great, I preferred the Drunken Noodles over the Amazing Chow; the wide rice noodles, vegetables, soy protein that tasted like chicken, tofu, and chef’s special sauce(whatever is in it is awesomesauce!) melded close to perfection. DESSERT: Chocolate mocha cake Now, this was the only mildly disappointing part of the meal — while the chocolate mocha frosting was light and tasty, the cake itself was a bit on the dry side. When eating it, you could tell it was made with vegetarians/vegans in mind. Service was spot on — for the eleven of us, they made sure we were taken care of on a busy Friday night and kept our pot of Lavender Green Tea filled(even if the two little girls in our group got the last of the lemonade and couldn’t get refills). Although, I kinda wished they gave us bigger plates than the smaller ones we had — and I would be remiss if I didn’t address the parking situation(it sucks — I ended up parking near Denny’s and taking the stairs up. With the popularity of the restaurant, small wonder that there were groups waiting almost all night). However, seeing how Loving Hut has a vegan California burrito(!), as well as vegan burgers(!!), I’m curious to see how those are, especially on meatless Fridays during Lent! Definitely worth taking your carnivorous friends to, just to see their reaction when they find out they’re not eating meat!

This is a tour-de-force of entirely-vegan eateries. The menu is extensive and everything is delicious. Reasonably-priced, too. Had the Cali burrito today; it was huge and full of flavor. Décor is an Asian take of American diner. Wish there were more of these around.

An A+ spot for Vegan food. The restaurant has ample parking, though some of the lot is 15 minutes only. There are about 20 tables inside varying in sizes. The menu is very expansive and has a lot of different food genres. Phở, Thai food, burgers, burritos, soup, and won tons were things I remembered. Amazing sautee was appropriately named. The sauce is sweet but not over powering. The«meat» was cooked very well, though a little stringy. Couldn’t tell it wasn’t meat. Garlic fries are realllly garlic-y

This is an amazing vegan restaurant. If you’ve been a vegetarian or vegan all your life and you’ve always been curious to know what meat tastes like then look no further. This restaurant does a great job of imitating the flavor of meat. I’ve been here various times and so far this is what I’ve ordered: All American burger, Steak soft tacos, Organic tempeh reuben, and Texas Fries #1. All American burger: Absolutely phenomenal. This one definitely tastes like a burger. My mind was blown at how awesome this tasted. I highly recommend this one. #2. Steak soft tacos: I go to Tijuana a lot and I’ve eaten a lot of street tacos in my life so with that being said, I can definitely say that, THISTASTESEXACTLYLIKETHESTREETTACOSYOU’D FINDINMEXICO. However, unlike a street taco in Mexico, this one is quite expensive. Street tacos in Mexico are normally a dollar for two tacos. The tacos here are $ 8. Still, if you wanna try their vegan take on tacos, then go for it. #3. Organic tempeh reuben: OK guys, I haven’t taken a test yet to see if I need a gluten free diet but yes, I’m one of those people who prefers eating gluten free. Tempeh is definitely not gluten free because tempeh IS gluten. However, I ordered this because I miss eating a reuben sandwich(I stopped eating processed meat, that’s why I haven’t had it in a while). This one ALMOST does a great job of tasting like reuben sandwich. However, it doesn’t have that smoky and meaty flavor of a reuben sandwich. Oh well, not eating processed meat is better than eating one I suppose #4. Texas Fries: This one is amazing. Oh my goodness, I must emphasize it once more, THISONEISAMAZING. The fries are seasoned and cooked to perfection. The melted«cheese» on the fries is wonderful; it tastes EXACTLY like melted cheese. Remember, this is a VEGAN restaurant meaning, they can’t eat dairy such as cheese. Everything about this dish was perfect and I really recommend this one So, with that being said, if you’re a newly convert to the vegan/vegetarian lifestyle and you miss the flavor of meat then GOHERE. I like this restaurant and I will be a regular customer. 5 stars well deserved

If I don’t feel like driving to Sipz in Clairemont, Loving Hut is the next best thing for my faux meat craving. I’m pretty much addicted the the spicy cha cha. I’ve had the clay pot sensation, but the taste just didn’t compare to the spicy cha cha. Every time I get the spicy cha cha, I’m amazed by the texture and taste of it! It seriously looks like shrimp with the orange markings on it. I like the crunchy bits of garlic, bread crumbs, and other seasonings that get tossed onto the plate as well Compared to Sipz, Loving Hut is a wee bit more expensive and doesn’t give you as much bang for your buck, but it’s still worth a try.

If all vegan food was like the spicy cha cha or the Texas fries, I’d probably consider turning vegan. After being introduced to this place by a friend who’s quite picky, I have been here two other times out of my own free will within two months. That’s actually pretty often if you ask me. I’ve ordered their Crispy rolls, Texas Fries, Wild West Burger, and Spicy Cha Cha. My favorite hands down would have to be the Spicy Cha Cha, which is a mock version of deep fried shrimp with rice. It’s delicious I tell you. I instantly regretted ordered the medium as opposed to the large. The texture of the mock shrimp is pretty spot on and the spices are just wonderfully mixed. Their Crispy rolls, Texas fries and Wild West burger are pretty good too. Their portions are of a good size and you will most likely walk away from this full. I do have to emphasize that their wild west burger was huge. If you’re hungry, order this or just spring for the large Spicy Cha Cha. It was worth it. Service is always very friendly and I’ve never had a problem. Also, there’s a 10% discount if you check in on Unilocal.Bonus! I will definitely be coming back.

Finally got here to try out the food. Though this time, I was coming on my own so I ended up going takeout as it seemed kind of awkward eating alone and taking up 2 – 3 peoples worth of seating. Plus it seemed like there were so many people waiting and takeout was a much quicker option. Parking was a somewhat hassle as I couldnt get into one due to some cars not parking in their spot and then other spots getting taken after I circled around. After parking however more spaces opened up. Might have just been my timing though — came around 2pm on a Labor Day Saturday. So for those ordering takeout its best to circle in towards the counter. I already figured to get the amazing sautéé and the texas style fries due to the many reviews/pictures I saw. I could not believe that the sautéé was not meat. It turned out to be tofu. Savory delicious tofu! And the texas style fries — oh wow. Why did I not get them with sour cream earlier along with ketchup? Plus they are the wrinkly kind. Hope to dine in next time when I have a food partner.
