Excellent little restaurant that is located near the stadium and convention center… food is truly American that will leave you wanted more… price reasonable for location.

First time to San Diego. Looking for a breakfast place. This place was more than I expected. Best burrito I think I’ve ever had. Will go back tomorrow. Service was top notch.

I made a mistake by coming here when I was really hungry. As soon as I walked in the place, I had the super friendly service. I ordered the Belgian waffles combo and when it came I couldn’t even take a photograph of it because it looks so good. The Belgian waffles were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a wonderful maple syrup that was served to me on the side. The eggs are on a separate plate over easy, perfectly cooked. The sausage was incredible. This was no commercial sausage. The links had that perfect snap on the outside with a beautifully seasoned meaty inside. I think one of the most impressive things about this place besides the awesome food, was how clean it was. It looks like it’s been around for awhile, when you look at the wood floors they look weathered and pitted, but in a way that makes you feel at home. Like you’re visiting your favorite aunt. This place was spotless. Definitely one of my favorite places in San Diego now.

Pros: Small business, Downtown location, open early, casual atmosphere, outdoor seating Cons: Price, limited menu items, limited seating This place is a very short walk from the Hilton Bayfront, and Petco Park area. I came in for Breakfast on a weekend morning. Not busy at all. I ordered a french toast combo. The bf order a breakfast burrito. The burrito was average size and pretty good it had avocado which makes everything better. lol The food was ok. However the FRENCHTOAST was the best part, it was very very very delicious! I would give this place another try for lunch.

Good food for the price. I was in San Diego for a work trip and had a morning free to walk and find this restaurant for breakfast. The line was out the door at 8:40am, so I saw that as a good sign. The staff was very friendly and the place had a local feel to it. I ordered the bagel sandwich with hashbrowns. It took about 15 minutes to get my meal. They forgot the cheese on the sandwich and it kept falling apart because they used cut up sausage links instead of a sausage patty for the meat. Still tasted ok for the price of around $ 10.50 with tax.

Had an hour to kill for breakfast before having to check out of our hotel. Went to Broken Yolk, but it was packed, so we walked around the corner to Lucky’s — so happy we did! Had fantastic breakfasts at a really good price. Our omelettes were delicious and came with all of the fixings. This place is kind of an old school diner type place with superior service. Will definitely return, and recommend for aure. I’d like to try lunch there one day.

They have phenomenal food for the price! If you’re trying to eat something good for breakfast or lunch within the Gaslamp area and you don’t want to spend a fortune go there! Staff extremely friendly, and atmosphere is great.

Amazing little spot that serves delicious reasonably priced food! We walked over from Omni upon checking in while we waited for our room to be ready. It’s an order at the counter type of place where you seat yourself and get up for refills. You won’t mind it though, the food makes up for it. We ordered their specialty chicken sandwich, potato salad and tomato soup. The sandwich was so tasty and served as a huge portion! The chicken was moist and flavorful and perfectly seasoned. I liked that they flattened it out to give it a nice crispness. The roll it was served on was a good choice, slightly toasted along with shredded lettuce, tomato and mayo. Simple and perfect. The potato salad it’s served with was also great. Large chunks of potato cooked well and still holding its shape. Enough mayonnaise just to hold it together, chives, celery and salt and pepper. We also loved the soup. It’s a good serving of roasted tomatoes. Creamy, well seasoned and served hot. It came with a couple croutons and a few slices of toasted bread. We loved this little joint and look forward to another visit.

Eh. Honestly, this was not our first choice for lunch. It was only sheer laziness and the wicked heat that made us decide to give this place a try. We wanted to get a sandwich to share, plus I needed to bring something home for my husband to eat, so we knew we’d be placing a to-go order. I placed my order(got the Reuben for my husband), and my cousin placed our order — a tuna salad sandwich. She asked the cashier if we could skip the sides and just have two pickle spears, instead. The cashier blinked a few times, then said it shouldn’t be an issue. Having paid and gotten our numbers, we sat down at a table to wait. We were given two cups of ice cold water, which was nice. I didn’t have much time to take in the scenery, as not two minutes later, our number was called. We went to the counter to pick up the tuna sandwich(with double pickles), while we waited for my husband’s Reuben. While we waited, my cousin thought it’d be a good idea to check the sandwich, to make sure we got the requested pickleage. Opening the(overly large) paper bag, she found that the box containing the sandwich had been taped shut. While trying to remove the tape to peek inside, she accidentally knocked over her water cup, splashing water and ice all over. The cashier noticed, and shot us the dirtiest look you ever saw, even while my cousin was asking for a towel to wipe up the mess. It’s not like we were going to leave it there! The cashier practically threw a soggy towel our way, without even bothering to help — or even offer to help — us clean up the mess. Before she could scamper away, my cousin asked her to check the sandwich to make sure we got the two pickles. Turns out, they had handed us the wrong sandwich! Had my cousin not thought to check, we would have walked out with someone else’s lunch. The cashier took the bag back, and we waited another few minutes to get the correct order, plus my husband’s sandwich. By the time we got back to my place, we were pretty hungry. The sandwich was good — not sure you can screw up tuna, but you never know — and my husband enjoyed his Reuben. They certainly don’t skimp on the ingredients, which is nice. The sandwich was bursting with tuna and one half was more than enough to fill us up for an hour or so. Thing is, the service left a bad impression. Not sure if I’ll ever decide to go back.

Breakfast was delicious, from the eggs cooked perfectly to the waffles. Definitely will make this a must stop when visiting San Diego. Staff was friendly and gave us tips of spots to visit.

Favorite place downtown for breakfast food. Whether you want to go in and sit at the counter or order to go, food is consistently solid. The bfast burritos are the best in the area(i know its not a mexican place, but try them). If you find yourself watching waaaayyyy too much«Diners, Drive Ins and Dives» and craving some flat top food from a short order chef, this is your place! Only complaint is the early closing time. I would love to come here for dinner…

Stopped in for a traditional breakfast on a Sunday morning on the way out of town, found a street side parking space directly in front of the door which was super convenient. The doors and windows were wide open which is one of the advantages of being here in San Diego with its near perfect weather year around. We found a few stools at the counter and we were immediately greeted by one of the servers after grabbing a cup of coffee we placed our order and it was only a few minutes before breakfast arrived which was exactly what we were looking for. As you can see it was nothing fancy and leaning towards boring, but it was served hot and was of good quality. I’d definitely visit again maybe during lunch next time, this is a very small space and obviously it doesn’t take long to fill every seat, but they do turn the tables rather quickly so the wait shouldn’t be to terribly long but you should probably plan on a wait. It’s a pretty cool little diner if you’ve haven’t experienced this type of setting. The staff was friendly but not overly talkative maybe it’s a different experience for the locals who frequent Lucky’s solid four stars…

What a cute little place. If I lived in San Diego I would be a regular. We stopped in for lunch and enjoyed sitting in stools at the counter and people watching through the large open window. Lucky’s has diner staples like burgers, sandwiches, soups, potato salad, cole slaw, salads, etc. My veggie burger was not only huge and delicious but clearly house-made, not that frozen patty stuff you get at a lot of places. The service was friendly and the prices were very reasonable. My friends ordered the club sandwich, which was massive and loaded with nice thick cut turkey, and a lunch salad which was huge and served in a metal mixing bowl which I thought was a nice touch. It is refreshing to see a place that isn’t trying to be a gastropub but just serves good, «staples» food.

Being from New England I was really excited to eat at a diner. The breakfast was lack luster at best. We had the Belgian waffles, eggs and he had bacon, I had the sausage. The waffles were small and they don’t offer any toppings. So they look sad. They were good just boring. My sausage was cold. In all fairness I will try them for lunch b/c they do have what looks like a tasty lunch menu.

Came here during lunch per my sister-in-law’s request. I just started working in downtown and her company’s office is actually right across the hall from mine, so she has tons of recommendations for me. Came here to get a build your own salad. You choose your greens, five different toppings(includes a cheese), and a dressing for the low price of $ 7.50. If you want more than five toppings, they’re only an additional $ 1.00 and protein toppings range from $ 3.00-$ 4.00(chicken, salmon, egg, etc.) I ordered a spring mix lettuce salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms, bacon, and goat cheese with their house vinaigrette roasted balsamic and it was amazing! Their salads are abundantly filled with all the toppings. It’s not everywhere that you find goat cheese on the menu and hardly ever is it a place where you can build your own lunch. I was also recommended the pastrami sandwich, which is the sandwich my colleague ordered when we came here and he said it was amazing. One thing that I loved was that the restaurant had a very small town feel. i’m from a small town where everybody knows your name and people in every local business ask you about you and your family. My sister-in-law frequents Lucky’s, and they all knew her by name and were talking to her as if they were old friends. That’s a quality that you rarely find here in San Diego and it’s something that I think is invaluable to a company. Definitely order over the phone or come before the normal lunch rush(noon-1pm) to miss the rush of people and wait in line.

Brought 6 here for breakfast. Not really a place for big groups. It is a lunch counter — operative word — counter. There is one big picnic table on the street that we took advantage of. All the food was fresh and properly cooked. Excellent flavors. Chicken fried chicken and sausage gravy was over-the-top good. Would come back here for lunch in a heart beat.
