Papa John’s Pizza

I used to love Papa John’s because I feel like out of all the chain pizza restaurants. They have the best tasting pizza but this time I was wrong! We haven’t had papa johns in a while so we decided to give it a try. Mehhhhh so disappointing! Such a thick crust on the bottom and very little topping (super skimpy on the meat the sauce and please note I always order extra Sauce) Overall, it was just a disappointing experience. It’s not the same as what I remembered. I guess I’ll stick with Dominos since it tastes way better there and cheaper price.

Worst delivery service ever. It has now been an hour and a half. I wonder if the pizza will still be warm and if it will ever arrive

This location as been a hit or miss but from a delivery person throwing my order at me to a delivery taking over an hour long the quality also ranges. The pizza has arrived as ordered and actually warm and other times the order arrived extremely overcooked with barely limited toppings and no sauce. Unfortunately this is the only closest location in the area so there is no other option. The parking lot is small and awkward and even pick up orders are not ready at the given time. I call the location to get the status of the order and when informing the worker that my order has still not arrived after an hour she says the driver must be right down the street and that she will call them and hangs up on me. Great service then the driver calls to ask if I want my order delivered to the office? Why would I want my pizza delivered to the office? Then he states he is on the way here… Over an hour STILL waiting. When the pizza finally gets here an hour and 20 mins later it is cold and inedible.

Ordered a pizza with «monster» toppings which was pepperoni and two types of sausage. Pizza arrived with those toppings but no cheese. I called and was told to look for the cheese «under the pepperoni»! They fInally obliged me and resent a new pizza with cheese. This one arrived with cheese but only pepperoni and neither of the two kinds of sausage. I called back and once again was told to «look under the pepperoni»!!! I handed my phone to the delivery driver to describe the lack of toppings and to validify my skills of observation (sometimes questioned at home when looking for things)! It is now two hours after my initial order and they want to make and deliver a third pizza to me. I declined and we agreed that they will provide me the correct pizza one day next week when I have more time to waste.
I normally order elsewhere without issue in product quality or order correctness. I will remember this when I want the occasional pizza in the future. If asked where my next order for Papa John’s is, I’ll just say «look under the pepperoni».
Just realized that the coupon attached to my pizza box gives me 50% off of my entire online order! Now all I need to do is get a time machine so I can travel back to sometime before two days ago when the thing expired! Are you freakin kidding me!!!

Stay away from this Papa John’s every time I order their the Pizza comes wrong or late who wants wrong late Pizza
The dominoes across the street is much better pizza comes faster and fresher

Their pizza is good, definitely prefer Papa John’s over Pizza Hut. The crust and cheese on their pizza just taste better. What really wins me over is that Garlic sauce. I always order extra since I would like my own when eating.
I like their dessert cookie. It’s really just a big chocolate chip cookie that they cut into slices. Now they have a brownie dessert. I think they still might make this dessert pizza but not positive.
Nice location in the middle of Mira Mesa. Good for delivery and take out. One thing though… Peyton Manning, he’s all over their commercials. Go Chargers!

Let me start off by saying I didn’t always like Papa John’s. I always used to eat at Domino’s when I was younger, then Little Ceaser’s with their $ 5 ready to go pizza’s &my broke budget. I always found Papa Johns to be a bit pricey, but now whenever I order I end up getting their 2 large 2 topping pizzas with a drink for $ 22! Not bad. I prefer thin crust. Pepperoni with sausage on the first pizza &pineapple with mushrooms OR pineapple with ham. They have the pizzas delivered in 30 – 45 minutes. 45 – 1 hour if they’re busy. Their garlic butter doesn’t come with their pizza anymore unless you ask for it. So make sure to ask for some!

I bought a small for about the same price as California Pizza Kitchen, but it tasted terrible.
Delivery was twice as long as quoted on the phone. 50 minutes.
And of course the pizza was cold.

I love their pizza! Not as greasy as other places

Its been at least a year since my kids or I have had Papa Johns pizza. Now I know why, because the online and storefront promptness, delegation, and/​or teamwork needs some tweaking. The reason I stated all this was because when I originally placed my order, the email confirmation stated that my order will be ready in about 25 minutes. So I basically waited around for 20 minutes because I live 5 minutes from this Papa Johns location and did not want to stand or sit around while it was raining outside. I ended up wrong anyways because after arriving at the appropriate scheduled time, there were about 4 other people ahead of me (with very tired and disturbed looks) waiting for their pick-​ups. I was then told that I may have to wait an extra 30 minutes past the estimated time. And then after finally receiving my order, and nearly an hour of waiting (typical estimated online order wait + extra stotefront wait) for my food all I got was a ‘sorry for the wait.‘
My other complaint may be company wide because they do not offer any miltary discount. And considering the Marine base is literally 7 minutes from this place, they might want to look into this. I do understand my complaining may be a bit nitpicky, but at the other pizza places in Mira Mesa (Dominos, Pizza Hut, Knockout Pizza, or Best Pizza and Brew) I always got my order on-​time. Or, if there was even a hiccup in the process we were compensated with free breadsticks, soda, or coupons rather than fake smiles or gratitude. Lastly, right when I was leaving with my order and just looking at people’s reactions (going from that tired and disturbed look to a small grin) that were looking over my shoulder and gave me a thumbs up as I typed this let me know that I may be a little louder than most people and just listing all of our thoughts onto this Unilocal review.
Food quality: C+ (Pretty subjective, but tastes like any other average franchise pizza place)
Customer service: D (Please improve, because once I see the Unilocal reviews for this plcae earn a whole star improvement, I may come back as a customer. But until then, my family is taking an indefinite break)

I purchased a small pepperoni pizza for $ 17 and had it delivered to my office. It arrived about 45 minutes later and the pizza was so cold it was chewy. I have to say I am pretty disappointed. The irony here is my office has a cafeteria and they serve pizza. Had I known my pizza was going to be over priced AND cold, I would have just gotten pizza at my office cafeteria.

Hello again Unilocalers. This is not going to be a good review for Papa Johns in Mira Mesa. If you had some bad experience please let me know, because I don’t want to get the impression that I’m the only one. Now that’s done this is what happened. Last Saturday around 4:30pm, girlfriend and I decided to order online a specialty pizza $ 12.99 coupon, salad, and 2 litter coke. The website said 40mins for delivery. Unfortunately, after 1hr and 15 mins we called the Papa Johns and the phone person said the order was completed. WTF? What do you mean completed? We have no pizza here. He then said he will check on the driver and call us back. We then decided to call the corporate #. They informed us to not accept the pizza if it’s cold and to ask for a new one. While talking to the corporate office, the driver shows up and the pizza was definitely cold. We asked him to return it and make a new one. He seem surprised of the request and was not apologetic whatsoever. In addition to that he forgot our salad. What a mess! After hanging up the phone will corporate, we called the Papa John’s store again and spoke with their manager. He said he will make another one and will have delivered about a hour. WTF! It has been over 2 hours since we placed the order and no pizza. We told him forget about it and that we will not order Papa John’s again. He said ok. I can’t believe how their is a lost trait of providing the utmost customer service. I worked at a pizza place in the past, and I have seen how a manager correct the situation by either giving them a free pizza in the future or a big discount for the inconvenience of the one delivered. Maybe I’m just getting too old, but that is how things were done back then. Papa John’s you suck! Hello pizza Hut, New York pizza and Filipies pizza.

Melinda and Erny made my and my boyfriend pizza a week or two before valentine’s and the experience was one to remember. Melinda held awesome conversation about her amazing tattoos and pizza skills, and Erny handled those anchovies like a champ! Lol! I had a really good night because of them and the pizza turned out awesome! Thank you!

Meh… it’s Papa John’s. Not cardboard and ketchup like Dominos but it’s also not the fresh made pizza from the mom and pop shops back home. Didn’t have any really negative experiences with this particular location until about a week ago. I ordered my pizza early (around 3pm) hoping to avoid the usual rush hour call of «oh we’ll be there but there’s too much traffic.» I didn’t get anything until my stone cold pizza and bread sticks showed up an hour and a half later. After I called the store and was rudely asked just who I was and if I had even placed an order. I made a complaint online and received a call from the store manager apologizing. He offered me free pizza the day or a gift certificate I could use later. Said he’d mail it to me the next day and I still don’t have it.

Out of all the pizza chains in Mira Mesa, I’ve always thought that Papa John’s was the best of the bunch due to the quality of the ingredients (the free garlic dipping sauce also helps). We decided to come here this past weekend due to heading to a party and needing something to feed a bunch of people and their kids.
We went with the Family Special (one large deluxe pizza and one large one-​topping pizza) for about $ 23.99 — we chose the Works (Italian sausage, Canadian bacon, pepperoni, onions, peppers, olives, mushrooms) for the adults and a pepperoni pizza for the kids. There was a bit of confusion between me and the order taker (shouldn’t familiarity with the menu and store specials be a must?), but once we got our order, the pizzas turned out just right, and my friends and their kids loved them.
I have to admit, the pickup area is tiny… and it does get hot inside (especially if you’re waiting to pickup your pies if you ordered inside). Still, Papa John’s is satisfying, and the price is right for what you get.

I’ve been recently converted to papa johns. I haven’t had it in so long and i just remembered a lot of bad experiences with papa johns so i was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their pizzas now!
We ordered two large two toppings pizza and my favorite cookie pizza for an additional $ 5.
The bbq chicken pizza is always good! And we pepperoni and sausage is never a disappointment. A lot of other pizza places has a think dough that the pizza never tats fully cooked. Here crust is soft with the right amount of crispness.
The only think is i only wish the cookie was bigger:)

Pizza is by far my favorite of the fast food variety. Second choice is Domino’s.
The quality of pizza is consistent although sometimes they are busier than others. Always order online and give them about 30 minutes so you can just go there and pick it up.
My favorites are Hawaiian, Pepperoni and Mushroom, and more. Really just order your preference and the ingredients use are great for the price. You won’t be disappointed and will satisfy your pizza cravings!

I would like to put a better review. I really would. Ordered a large pizza with the chocolate chip pizza for $ 18. Went to the store and payed & it wasn’t even ready yet. It was so scorching hot in the store. I had to fan myself while I waited. Then two other people came in got their pizzas… WTF! So I went and told the kid «I think that’s my order over there» pointed in the direction of my pizza & told him I have been waiting. Since the young lady obviously forgot about me, or maybe she was on her break… there really is no excuse! Anyways, needless to say, still disappointed

I was in the area and my girlfriend and her family decided to go out and pick up pizza. I searched on Unilocal & papa john’s was one of the few choices that popped up in the area.
I was aware of the reviews, but was hungry and just went ahead and ordered. I called and spoke to an employee by the name of john paul & asked about the specials, he was very helpful and recommended the works pizza. I’m a very picky person, I am glad that he was patient.
Moments later I went to pick up the pizza & met the person I spoke to. He made sure I was set and ready to go before I left the business. Your employee had such good customer service.

It is rare that I want to go the extra mile and call the corporate location for the TRASH that a terrible restaurant gives me… but a call from the «manager» surely has made me do just that.
My company ordered one large pizza for a luncheon that we were organizing, and decided to go ahead and pick it up from this location. My co-​worker gets there about 15 minutes after we placed the order, picks it up, and brings it back… it was digusting. (Ive attached a picture) What is this burnt piece of shit that they gave us? I dont know… maybe somebody ordered burnt shit and they accidently switched our ORDINARY order with theirs? I had to call and find out. After about 45 minutes, the «manager», a clearly 19 year old chick gets on the phone. She basically told me that she made the pizza «herself» and that she knows that everything with it was fine and ready to go before she went on her break. UHHHH… so basically you’re calling me a liar MELINDA?
I don’t like being called a liar. So… being the Leo that I am, I will do what I have to make sure she pays.
