Papa John’s Pizza

Ordered delivery, then waited one hour, called and they said they had a driver on the way. Then waited 2 hours and called, guy on the phone was nice, but had said the «driver knocked on the door and no one answered» obvious lie, because I was home. they were able to deliver pizzas before to my place so there shouldn’t have been an issue. I might be mad at the fact that I waited 2 hours and got that response over the phone. Get new drivers.

The General Manager, Jesus, made an exception for the deal I purchased (i had trouble redeeming, and it expired yesterday).
Great Customer Service starts at the top and trickles down, and the Pacific Beach Papa John’s is no exception.
The pizza is very reasonably priced, and is quite tasty. Thanks Jesus — we’ll be back!

Just save yourself from disappointment and go to Dominos if you’re looking for coupon rate /​chain pizza with a parking lot. This place has screwed up for the last time with me.
Since there’s only about a 60% chance of getting a decent pizza here, I gave up on delivery. Paying that extra $ 7 and getting a crappy pizza is much worse than picking it up and getting the usual crap pizza. I’ve lived here for 15 yrs so I know what I’m talking about… Oh, and it’s always really great when you walk in for pick up and they say they’ll be right with you and you can see your pizza on the shelf and you get so frustrated you’re tempted to just step behind the counter and grab it!
In the last few weeks I’ve made two attempts. On Dec 30^th I ordered online and it said 20 – 25 minutes so I wait 20 min and have about a 10 min drive.
I get there and they tell me it’s almost ready. A half hour later I finally get it and get home to see that the mild pepper rings were not cooked on the original pizza. They were just lying on top and barely warm. They screwed it up and half-​ass fixed it. Pretty much the norm at this place. They did seem a little busy and only 3 or 4 people inside working but still… Crap is crap.
Today, I order online and wait a full 35 minutes before leaving my house because I want to be sure I can just run in and pick up and leave. I about get run over by a female driver carrying a stack of delivery bags out the door and I get to the counter and there is no pizza. The girl says that my pizza is gone and the driver must have taken it (like it’s no big deal and happens all the time) and they’ll have to remake it. They’re not busy at all — one pizza sitting on shelf and no tickets waiting. I tell her to give me a refund and tell her about my last experience and she says ‘you should have told the owner’. Well, I’m telling YOU and if you were any good at your job YOU would tell the owner. This place just sucks and I’ll never spend money here again.
At least when Dominos screws up the owner or manager (think his name is John?) will go out of his way to take care of customers and make sure they’re happy.

Very disappointing by the service at this location. It was my first time ordering Papa Johns and not only did they take over an hour when I finally got the pizza it was cold. I called 3 times to see why it was taking so long once on the 45 min mark another on the hour and 15 min mark and one right after to cancel my order that then arrived shortly after so i was stuck paying for the cold unappetizing pizza.

worst customer service ever i ordered a pizza from theme and the woman on the phone said that it is gonna be there 30 – 40 minutes after almost a hour I called and the same woman answer in I asked were is my pizza and she was very rude and hang up on my do yorslef a favor and dont order a pizza from there

I was very impressed with the store, I just happen to be in the area so I stopped in for a pizza. The manager was very friendly and professional. The service was fast and friendly. It was a very good experience. Thanks for being so fast and friendly

I like papa johns pizza. This rating is just my experience at this visit.
I showed up to take my pizza to go. I guess it was the pizza «that got messed up» so they were going to have to remake it. I kinda knew something was up when I saw a pizza that looked similar to the one I ordered being man handled by the employees, tugging at the crust. Then they asked if we wanted it and showed us what was «messed up». Seriously, the holding of the pizza thing by employees not looking like the cooking crew weirded me out. Such a weird experience. Then after reading the review about «dirty hands» even more scary.

Waited almost an hour to get the pizza completely upside down and squished in the box… I’ve ordered from this papa johns before and it’s generally been okay. But the fact they tried delivering this pissed me off’ clearly dropped and the entire pizza is in half the box squished. Looks more like a horrible calzone then a pizza. I did call and they refunded me my order so at least they did that but at first they wanted to deliver me another pizza I had to push for the refund.

So I realize I gave them 3 stars which is apparently A-​OK, but I am not pleased with this place. The 3 star rating comes from the previous pizza deliveries that were at least 4 star (I mean come on… Papa John’s isn’t ever gonna deliver a 5 star pizza experience unless you are delusional or mentally impaired).
~4 days ago I ordered the cheese breadsticks. I asked for a side of garlic sauce and paid extra for it. They said 30 – 40 min.
Now honestly I don’t give a sh** how long it takes as long as the food is good and my order is right.
It took over 45 min. The food was cold AND OVERCOOKED (cheese very hard). To top it all off… NO effing garlic sauce.
Very displeased…

BEWARE: Dirty hands are preparing your pizza!
A few months ago I got a pizza here and was surprised when the cashier accepted my cash reached in the till and made cash and coin change then walked over to the dough and started to roll it with his filthy hands. Forgot about it until today…
Ordered a pizza by phone at 1pm and went in 15 minutes later to pay and pick it up.
The girl working did the exact same thing. Disgusting! So either they don’t know how to properly handle food, or they just don’t care. After handling cash (which FYI is filthy) one must WASH THEIR HANDS BEFORE RETURNING TO FOOD PREP. Felt bad for whoevers pizza this was!
I will never go to this pizza place again.

I don’t think this is the worse pizza that I every had but pretty close. The ingredients were uneven. Some slices only had cheese, other had meat and etc. It had way to much sauce so the cheese was sliding off. I known sure what happen but Papa John used to be some of the best pizza. Little Cesar pizza is way better now which tell you had bad this pizza was…

Just wanted to take a moment and comment on the great service I received from this Papa John’s location last night. We got a great deal on our pizza by ordering online. It came earlier than it was expected to arrive, and it was DELICIOUS (John’s Favorite). It was also still piping hot, and seemed unbelievably freshly made (to me, who always seems to be the last stop on other companies’ drivers’ list and always receives a lukewarm pizza). They even included a free garlic dipping sauce. The driver was prompt, kind, and courteous. I feel like employees can often go unrecognized so I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you and tell you how much I appreciated your service! :)

UNBELIEVABLY incompetent. Driver belongs in special Ed.
I’m done with papa johns. Long time customer of over 10 years. DONE. Because of this location. Congratulations. You guys suck.

Last time they didn’t bring the garlic sauces I paid for, this time they didn’t even cut my pizza into slices. Are you kidding me?

Seriously terrible pizza. They scrimped on ALL the ingredients. Worse than the worst frozen pizza ever.

I have been trying to eat healthy recently but one thing I am always craving is pizza. I am not a huge fan of fancy artisan pizza (don’t ask me why, I like my pizzas fast and unhealthy). Over the years I have tried pretty much all the other big box pizza places, however in my opinion Papa Johns stands alone in the quality of ingredients and overall quality. Lately they have been having a really good deal on carryout. The other night I got a large pepperoni and green pepper pizza for only $ 7.99! Add an order of wings for $ 7 and you got yourself a lot of food if you have two friends to share with. The people who answer the phone here are very friendly and they always have my pizza ready to go when I arrive.

Just a quick update:
We got our pizza today completely uncut. In other words, whoever put it into the box after it was cooked didn’t cut it. We called back to let them know, and the response on the other side was that they would send someone out with a pizza cutter. I wasn’t the person who called, so I’m not positive exactly what was said, but when my co-​worker told me that, I thought it was a joke.
It wasn’t.
The delivery driver showed up with a pizza cutter and cut the pizza 20 minutes after it had been delivered.
First, I just felt bad for the delivery driver. I had to walk away from there so that I’d be able to keep my mouth shut. Incredible. But is this what Papa Johns does? Like if they forget to put a topping on your pizza, they show up at your house in a half-​hour with a portable pizza oven and extra toppings? Or you order light sauce, they put too much on, so they cruise over to your house and scrape the excess sauce off your pie with the credit card-​signing pen?
At this point I actually want to keep ordering so I can see what type of debacle happens next. But I had no idea that making pizzas and driving them places could be such a complicated, chaotic travesty.

We love their pizza for the price and they always get it right. Something is different about the cheese, though. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it’s not as thick and chewy as the authentic places. I still love it.

Papa Johns sometimes delivers us great pizza, and sometimes they are skipping out on the toppings and sauce.

This Papa Johns is exactly ordinary.
It’s a little more expensive than Domino’s or Pizza Hut, but I think the quality of the ingredients is slightly higher.
They have a carryout special right now for a $ 5 two-​topping small pizza. I ordered two — one for dinner and one for lunch the next day — and it was exactly as one might expect. Good, but obviously not the best pizza around.
Also, and I can’t be sure that the pizza, but I think the pizza didn’t exactly agree with my digestive system.
