I ordered rigatoni with meatball and meat sauce. The meatball was good, the rest of the sauce was pretty terrible and the pasta tasted funny. But oh my goodness, the garlic bread knots are what saved the day! They are so good, I might come back just for the bread!

Build your own pasta. I love the concept. Also, the prices are very affordable. I ordered a baked pasta for extra. I liked the cheese in it, but mine was more watery at the bottom compared to my boyfriend’s pasta that wasn’t baked. For my toppings, I opted for mushrooms and peppers. One of my favorite parts was that they let you taste the sauces(like an ice cream shop) before you order. However, I didn’t really find a sauce that I absolutely loved. I ended up getting one of their sauces of the day(mushroom something). The pomegranate marinara one was rather bland(very similar to the normal marinara) and the one that they said was spicy had a chipotle flavor that I didn’t like very much. I wish they’d make a sweet/spicy one. This isn’t amazing pasta, but it is cheap and fun. I’ll definitely be back to give the sauces more chances because they seem to have a great selection with the rotating daily specials. Also, next time, I’ll get normal pasta(not baked). That’s the cool thing about a place like this. You can get something totally different each time and it’s made specifically how you want it.

Build your own pasta! How to order: –Pick a small or regular(Just 60 cents more for a regular) –Pick your pasta(extra for gluten free) –Pick your sauce(pesto is simple but wonderful, sundried tomato and cream makes for a treat) –Pick your toppings(3 available with a regular versus 2 for a small) –Pick your meat(extra cost if you do choose to have it; their Italian sausage and meatballs are homemade!) Watch the server cook your meal right in front of you on an electronic stove top. Meals are packaged with two garlic breads as well. These are SUPER garlicy! Make sure to bring some mints or brush your teeth later if you’re going back to work. A regular size will leave you brimming full unless you’re super famished beforehand. They give you your food in a to-go bowl though, so whatever you don’t finish can be easily taken home for later. They also offer Pizza, Calzones, and Panini Sandwiches. Can’t say I’ve had any of these though. Awesome lunch spot although they are opened late enough for you to enjoy their pasta for dinner.

Right, This place is one of the those places where they keep the place simple yet their food elegant. The pizzas are thin crust, most of them, and are delicious without much fancy dressing. i also tried their pasta which tasted really good. They have pick and build your food option which makes sense as people like me like to experiment. Cons: I might be wrong in this as i went to the restaurant a little late around 8 and there was only 1 guy to take the order, serve and bill. To add to this there was quite a bit of crowd. Some of them lost their patience and left! So overall, i would recommend this place for some delicious pastas(whole), pizzas(Gluten free), some good flat breads too. Prices are decent too! GO check it out

Great healthy on demand pasta, pizza and salads. I like they allow customers to customize their food with ingredients that way you always get what you want and it’s fresh! They have craft beer, soda and mineral water. A little bit slow during lunch but other times like dinner and late afternoon it’s not bad. Parking is plentiful and they have outdoor tables if you want the al fresco experience.

I love this place! Customizable pasta & like everyone else said, it’s in a Subway-like setup. The workers here are very kind and they all take their time with you and work through the lunch rush well. You get to watch them cook your pasta, too. It was very tasty and the portions were large enough for my sister, boyfriend and I all to take some of our leftovers home. 10⁄10 would recommend.

Surprisingly good! I wasn’t a big fan of how the sign was in Comic Sans. Ugh. But the food is pretty good for a quick meal and low price. The portion is quite large as well so I ate about 2⁄3 of it and saved the rest for a tiny dinner. Today I felt like getting something tomato-saucy, so I came here. I tried a few of their sauces and I got bowtie with vodka sauce, sausage, corn, black olives, and ricotta. It’s obviously not going to be the best pasta ever, but it’s tasty and cheap and I’m coming back.

Family felt like spaghetti and Unilocaled this new spot close to home. Nice spot for a quick meal. Took longer to pick out the ingredients than it was to eat the food. Food was pretty good. Had the spaghetti with meat sauce and home made meatball. Wife and daughter had cheese tortilini and son had pepperoni pizza. Good price for the quality of food. Will come again for the quickie!

Several visits later and I’m still in love with Pastalini! My boyfriend happened to be in the area getting his tires replaced and texted to see if I wanted anything from Pastalini. «Hell yes!» I responded. I think it’s impossible to not be in the mood for a delicious bowl of create-your-own pasta. I kept my usual order of baked pasta with black olives but swapped the alfredo for sundried tomato cream sauce. The entire dish was mouthwatering delicious. Unlike my first time, I noticed the ricotta, which only made it better. Since I’m a rather light eater, I’ve only managed to eat half of it over the course of two meals. I still have half of the tin in the fridge and I can’t wait to eat more of it. My boyfriend, on the other hand, scarfed his entire serving down in one sitting so I guess it all depends on how much you can eat. For me, it’s a great deal though as I get three to four meals out of it for less than $ 9. I see many more Pastalini visits in my future!

Always satisfied when I come here & always leaving stuff. I usually get a pasta dish, with shrimp or sausage but decided to try the baked pasta. Great choice! It was cheesy & so yummy.

The concept of this place is cool. The food ehhhh, could be better. You do get a lot for the price. Pretty much its like a subway, chipotle set up. Pick your pasta, sauce toppings then they sautee it all for you and bam done. They also offer other things pizza, salad etc. It’s good for a quick meal but wouldn’t go out of my way.

Hands down best pasta joint in my neighborhood. I love creating my own pasta. You can also get their specialty pastas. My fave is the cheese tortellini, shrimp, pesto sauce, spinach, and cheese. It’s affordable, delicious and they give a good portion. Great place to go for pasta.

Reminds me of a subway but for pasta. There’s a lot of options here. They have a preset menu, where u can pick ure own pizza, pasta, or baked pasta. I think they are more known for creating your own pasta because that’s what I heard from other people and that’s what brought me to this place. I think it’s a good carb load for a race and I’m always looking for new places to eat lately. Ordered the cheese tortellini with pepperoni, olives, garlic, corn, mushroom and peas which will prolly be a repeat order for me. Friend ordered the rigatoni special and they were both good and filling.

Haven’t been here in some time so here’s an updated review. My first time eating here. We stool awkwardly for about 10 minutes until someone helped. Angel hair Alfredo pasta with salmon and shrimp. I asked for calamari on it and she heard me but my friend also asked for calamari so I guess that voided my calamari? No vegetables, only garlic, salt and pepper. OOOOOH was my pasta extremely salty! Shrimp was flavorful, salmon was drier than a hot summer day, but it wasn’t bad still. I just know to never get salmon here again and I love salmon. Bummer. Mine came out to be $ 13. The woman working seemed like she was lazy and hates her job. Or she was really high. But she wasn’t rude towards me or anything. My friend got fettuccine Alfredo pasta with sausage, calamari, shrimp, broccoli, corn, garlic and it came out to $ 20! Didn’t expect it to be that expensive honestly. It’s crazy! It’s like going to subway and one sandwich being $ 20. What I noticed is if you eat there they give you 3 bread loads and if you order Togo they give you 2.

So excited about the idea of a create your own pasta bar. Located on Miramar Rd, you can also call in ahead of time and pick up your order. We ordered tortellini with calamari and pesto sauce, their spaghetti had a different texture but my husband liked it, and the baked rigatoni was fabulous! You can pick your type of pasta, several choices of sauce and toppings… Served hot with a fresh roll. Will definitely come back.

I stopped in for a quick bite while furniture shopping on Miramar Road. Had the organic whole wheat fussili pasta with meat sauce, veggies & artichokes. Huge portions, very friendly service, and the food was good. I can only eat half of the regular size entrée, so I’ll have the leftovers for dinner. The downside here is the atmosphere. The place looks a bit dirty and run down. I realize the location doesn’t require a fancy dining room, but I feel the food is better than the setting. They cater, so I’ll bet the nearby businesses enjoy the nice food in their office.

I’ve been craving some carbs… Really good carbs… Carbs are heaven. We all must enjoy carbs! I wanted to try another lunch place close to the office. I normally go to the same places so I wanted to try something new. I haven’t felt this full in a long time. The small bowl was enough for lunch and dinner. I was overwhelmed when I walked in. I didn’t know where to start. There was so much to choose from! The staff was friendly and explained what they offer. Everything looked so good. I love the subway style of ordering food. I went with one of the options they suggest. I picked the bowl with fettuccini, pesto, Alfredo, sausage and mushrooms. It was heaven on a plate! I used to eat pasta all the time but I cut back on it. It was nice to indulge on one of my weaknesses. I love pesto on pasta. Adding sausage and mushrooms were perfect! So delicious. Glad I finally tried Pastalini. Definitely adding it to one of my go to lunch spots.

Came here on a random Thursday to try it for the first time. It was really slow. They are also doing construction on the outside. Plentiful of tables inside and outside. Plenty of parking spaces as well. I love the idea of «Create Your Own Pasta» It’s like a subway styled pasta joint. You can choose from pre-made options as well. You can choose from a small bowl or a regular sized bowl. The small size looked waaaaay too tiny for anybody, suits more for children i suppose. Even with the regular size bowl, the food server did not fill it up all the way. It was partially filled up with noodles. Then one scoop of everything else. It was quite disappointing on the portion size when the regular sized aluminum bowl was huge. Step 1. Choose your noodles. Step 2. Choose your sauce. Step 3. Choose your toppings. Step 4. Choose your meat. I ordered parsley spaghetti with pesto, garlic, olive oil, spinach, mushrooms, shrimp, oregano and feta cheese. Personally, i think it was a good hearty mixture. Toppings and meat were a bit scarce. Each bowl comes with two garlic biscuits. It is basically made of pizza dough and lightly flavored with garlic. It was ok. The bread was just chewy and not much flavor. SERVICE: Customer service was a bit lacking. The food server did not acknowledge us very well. Did not welcome us as we walked in. Messed up on my order without apologizing after I pointed out that when i said I wanted Aioli, i meant the garlic and olive oil stated on the board rather than roasted tomato aioli. And did not say Thank You after our purchase or while we were walking out. Overall, this place has good intentions and a great concept. But not enough food for a real meal. It was more like a quick lunch stop for the busy people.

This place is like the Chipotle of Mexicali food… the Panda of Chinglish food… the Yogurtland of froyo – EXCEPT much better quality with the same fast and quick service. Came here for an early dinner with a good friend and we first thought that Pastalini would be like dining hall food because of the way it was set up. If you are a UCSD homie, you’ll think that this place is like the Pines’ pasta bar. However, the flavors are much more delicious and rich, and you have way more options in terms of pasta style/flavor and toppings. Get the spinach spaghetti… you can finally say you’ve had green noodles :) It’s a specialty here, so go for it – it pretty much tastes the same as regular spaghetti anyways. Just don’t forget your mints/gum after you finish eating here because dat garlic breath doe! Fun tip: With your pasta order, you get three delicious butter bread rolls with your meal.

Read about this place on Unilocal yesterday and decided to check it out for dinner. All I have to say is if you are anywhere near this place and you decide to waste your money on a fast food«value meal» you need your head checked. For $ 6-$ 7 per person you can get a delicious, freshly made pasta dish with freshly baked mini garlic rolls. If pizza is more your thing they have that too. It’s on a yummy thin crust and they’re not stingy with the cheese. I had the baked pasta with tortellini($ 1.75 extra). It was cheesylicious. My hubby had his own creation of angel hair, pomegranate marinara, shrimp and sausage. He loved it. For my son we got the pepperoni pizza special. So fresh, cheesy and crispy. We all ended up taking a little bit home, which is fine with us. I really hope this place catches on and they open more locations. This is a great idea done right. Best of all the owner was so nice and humble even. He was really concerned about whether we liked the food. We told him we loved it and we would spread the word through the military community. We’re always looking for good food at a great price.
