I went to this place with Debra and Jose R one day ago for a hot beverage. Debra R got a cappuccino. Jose R and I got the hot chocolate. The beverages were really good for the cold weather and the flavor was perfect.

Came here because my bf and I were both tired out from touring Point Loma and Sunset Cliffs. We were greeted immediately by the barista. We ordered the dark and medium roast House coffee of the day — House blend — Dark roast, A perennial customer favorite, this inviting Latin American blend is a perfect introduction to Peet’s coffees. bright, balanced, and medium-bodied. Pleasant hint of spice with a crisp finish. Café Solano — medium roast, A worldly medium-roast blend of vibrant and aromatic beans from Africa, the Americas, and the Indo-Pacific. Lively yet perfectly rounded, with floral notes and a subtle berry brightness. Those are descriptions made by the company. I prefer medium roast while my bf prefers dark roast. We both enjoyed their house coffees of the day. But we still prefer their Major Dickinson coffee bean more, which unfortunately was not brewing that day. We stayed there for 1 hr+ and enjoyed relaxing there. There’s the nice coffee shop music playing in the background. Some booth-like style seating as well as outdoor seating. Clean bathrooms too. There’s a pitcher of cold water for anyone to drink from.

I came here last year to use an online promo offered by «Swagbucks.» I never got the full payout and Swagbucks has not addressed my concerns. In fact, they never responded to my original complaint. Shocking, I know. I could dispute the charge but it’s not really worth it since I spent $ 5 and am owed $ 25. Doing business with unreputable companies cheapens your brand. I was gonna do coffee here as a Meetup but it’s now on my blacklist thanks to this pleasant memory.

Zero star actually for this coffee shop Cashier guy today was showing an attitude. Mr curly hair was rude! He told my kids to turn down the volume of their IPads. Totally uncalled for! Discrimination! They were not loud playing their electronics. I swear! He’s just picking us! He was the one was loud laughing! What an a***** ! never ever come back here again! And oh he said that the Unilocal $ 1.00 off check in discount is not valid or something. He’s such a jerk ! Hope this bad review will be forwarded to the management.

After a long hospital shift, I really appreciate good service and delicious meals/drinks. It always takes me at least five minutes to choose what type of pastry or coffee that I’m feeling for the day, but the staff has always been so patient. Their iced coffee is refreshing and doesn’t taste bitter or burnt, the way some other coffee places taste. I’m an avid coffee drinker and this place does the job of getting me through the 3pm slump and into the gym after 8 hours on my feet! The inside of the coffee shop is very rustic, plenty of wooden tables and seats to go around. And their wifi is quick! If you need to use the restroom, they have a key attached to a huge spoon that’s on the counter. The location is unfortunate. Luckily, I am able to walk from the hospital but the parking lot is very small and the street parking is always loaded. It is also tucked away between two bigger signed restaurants. Keep an eye out for this wonderful coffee place!

Love this shop. I’ve been to several in Ventura and I’m really glad we have them in SD! Super friendly, yummy drinks. Fast service. It’s also a good place to work :)

HONESTYISTHEBESTPOLICY! My review is based primarily on the actions of an employee(CHLOE). While finishing a delicious Caffe Macchiato, a young lady had been sweeping around my area, as Peet’s would be closing shortly. Much to my surprise, a $ 5.00 bill had dropped to the floor, out of my pants pocket. Unhesitatingly, she inquired as to whether I was missing money, and returned it to me. It was very refreshing to have a total stranger, do the right thing in those circumstances. This is where I want to do my business in the future. Thank you Peets! Thank you CHLOE!

This place opened up when Starbucks did, and I never went here until now. Now I know why. They are a chain who happens to have smirky, unprofessional employees who don’t do their jobs right. From the cashier in all his dreadlocked glory(it was tied up, but a bit unsanitary with it flying everywhere), to the barista not wearing gloves(although I’d just say she was a grumpy woman), I ended up with watered-down tea that had no sweetness whatsoever. They were both unhelpful when we asked for something not too cloyingly sweet. There is a difference. Know it. Just merely adding honey does not make it sweeter. It seems to me that it’s the barista’s job to know. When she called out my name, she actually left the hard plastic squeezer WITH the teabag inside the cup, all the while pushing it over to me, which indicated to me it was ready to drink. Big deal, I took it out. As she saw me taking the tea bag out, she handed me a small cup to put it in. What she should’ve done was at least take the plastic thing off before serving. I looked at my receipt while waiting because the price seemed high for an unadorned, simple tea. Honey added… seriously? At that point I should’ve said, «Now kindly make my tea in the size I originally ordered, not the larger size you charged me for.» But I didn’t b/c the point would’ve been lost on her since she most likely would’ve regarded it as moot. I could tell is get attitude. I asked for a Small, and she charged for a larger size. Medium. But. I just went on my merry way and my daughter and I left, instead of sitting down inside. The manager of this store needs to take charge. Will never return to this store again. Do not recommend.

This place is a great substitute for Starbucks. Although I wanted so much to give them a good review, there were just problems with the couple of visits that I have been. First time I went was great, the cashier was very helpful and welcoming. The problem was that the drink she recommended wasn’t anything special. Not her fault, just I was hoping for more flavor in an iced tea. The coffee is pretty tasty though, with a good balance. The most recent visit is what drove me to write a review. I came in and saw that there wasn’t really a line, so i went to the register where I always ordered. The girl making drinks clearly saw me standing there and saw me ask the couple of folks if they were in line, yet she failed to let me know that I wasn’t standing in a line. As I was waiting there like an idiot, a line formed at the other register all of a sudden. This was pretty annoying, and what was worse was that there was no sign on the register that I was standing next to stating that it was closed. When I actually made it to the correct register, the lady was very helpful and cheerful, which defused my need to complain, so that was good. She helped with my Matcha Javiva, which was delicious, and she even gave me a heads up on not adding the syrup because it was already sweet, which was good because it would have been crazy sweet. Altogether, mixed feelings about the place, but I wouldn’t turn down the place if my friends wanted to go here.

Nice location within 10 – 15 min walk from Hillcrest Hospital. Nice for grabbing coffee right after a bite to eat from Bread and Cie. Drawbacks: not a whole lot of seating, given the space. Nor many electric ports to plug in. Restroom requires a key, which is kind of annoying.

Nice place, nice staff, but this isn’t for coffee connoisseurs. I ordered a drip coffee, and what I walked away with had the burned smell & taste of a typical overroasted«French» or dark roast, so I went back and they kindly switched out for their medium roast(which they had to brew), but it wasn’t much better. If you’re looking for something better than Starbucks, go here. If you’re looking for craft-roasted coffee, look elsewhere(I don’t know where, though — I’m just visiting).

Much better espresso than the Green Mermaid of Starbucks offers. The customer service here is especially personable. It is Hillcrest and thus parking is metered which can be a pain if you don’t carry coins, or suck at parallel parking haha. This is one of my go to coffee places on the weekend. I always go for simplicity, just plain espresso(usually a double shot). The espresso is slightly sweet and bitter. Fantastic on it’s own and not nearly as acidic or burnt tasting as Starbucks. Peet’s all the way

Nice ambiance but I wish the seating was a little more comfy. The baristas were stoic, but I appreciated that. I don’t like walking into coffee shops and having some tweaked/caffeined out person greeting me like their life depends on it. Wish they had gluten freen junk food, like a nice cheese danish or even a rice krispy treat. Perhaps a chocolate chip muffin. I think bananas are the only option.

My husband and I went into this Peet’s today at about 3:00. It was nice and quiet, only like 3 other customers there. So I ordered a hot tea for myself, and a vanilla latte for my husband. The cashier gave me my tea and asked me my name for the coffee. I went and sat down. After about 10 minutes, my husband says, «did you order me a coffee?» I looked over to the counter and there was a cup sitting there. I went over and asked, «Did you call Janice for this?» and the girl says, «No, I finished making it right as you were paying so I set it here and saw you walk away.» She said this with a shrug, as she turned away from me. I was a little taken aback, so just said, «Oh.» and took it. Really? If you saw me walk away and go sit down, did it not occur to you that maybe I didn’t know the coffee was ready? And there were hardly any customers there, so maybe you could have even brought it over to me?

Excellent service and friendly staff make this Peet’s coffee one of the finest I’ve been too. Lots of neighborhood camaraderie including military, working folks, gym boys & hotness behind the counter(Grant.)

I am SO lucky there is a Peet’s Coffee right next door to where I work. I can sneak away in between patients, when no one is looking, and come back with a nice warm coffee or an ice cold tea before anyone even notices I’m gone! The place is usually full of people but the line never takes too long and the people making the drinks are the fastest in town! I love how they give you your coffee without the lid on it so it invites you to fancy-it-up by adding cream, sugar or even some cinnamon(which I almost always do). Right now they have killer holiday drinks with my new fave, Hazelnut Cinnamon Latte. Woot, Woot! SOGOOD! You’ll hear people tell you that Peet’s far surpasses Starbucks in quality and flavor and they ain’t lyin’! There’s something special about Peet’s Coffee and because of that, I’ll always pick it above the others. Every time.

The staff is exceptional in their friendliness and overall knowledge of coffee & teas. You cannot go wrong asking the opinions of the staff. Overall cleanliness is above par. I have been in several other shops and have noticed the inability of those shops to clean u nder ledges and tables. This in not the case heee. «Attention to detail» as if in the US Navy. If you want to sh are your opinion, Peggy makes herself available. You can’t ask for better service. Two thumbs up and(5) !!!

While it’s definitely a chain, the customers and staff definitely give the place a local community feel to this coffeehouse. I’m a big fan of Peet’s coffee, but their ice teas are so refreshing and light on a warm day. The baristas are awesome(shout-out them all for doing such a great job), and the patrons are super friendly. Dog friendly outside seating, awesome people of Hillcrest, and an awesome staff really makes this Peet’s an amazing place to relax on weekend(and possibly weekday) mornings.
