We went here some time ago and it was a pleasant experience. We went for the Monday lunch special for the 50% mark down and two for one Sapporos. Food was good(I had a sea snail for the first time) and service was attentive and friendly. I would return if they still are running the specials as they used to.

If you’re seeking an inexpensive sushi fix, RB’s all you can eat option gets the job done. Appetizer favorites: fried calamari, garlic edamame Nigiri favorites: salmon belly & uni(only for dinner), albacore, ika Roll favorites: garnet, caterpillar I must note that I have observed their fish quality decline significantly over the past years, particularly with their salmon. They’ve also managed to increase the amount of rice on their nigiris. Not a good sign, but the price is still decent for what you get. Really hoping that the quality doesn’t continue on this downward trend. In the meantime, I look forward to future visits.

Love the all you can eat selection and price. Best AYCE sushi spot by far. Gets pretty busy on the weeknds. Make sure you get there 30 mins before closing and are in your seats to get AYCE! Last time we sat down 3 mins late and weren’t able to order off the menu…

Got the all you can eat sushi! We sat at the bar with the sushi chef Gabriel and he was awesome! He was very attentive and always had a smile on his face. He made the experience very enjoyable and also the sushi was delicious! I got the rainbow roll, dragon roll, and popcorn zarigani. The popcorn Z was delicious 10⁄10 recommend it. The dragon roll was also really good and the rainbow roll was basic but good! I took one star off because my friend ordered one roll(didn’t do all you can eat) and she ordered ten minutes before me and received her roll ten minutes after me so it was slow for her! Other than that everyone was great. Thanks Gabriel!

Nigiri and fresh rolls are staples avd you can’t go wrong with all you can eat option ! Kama(collar grilled) and the hand roll of unagi and avocado top the must have in my book! Service that night was hit and miss with the lady that helped us was working with many tables I thought, but all good . This location for me trails a bit overall than its BRUH over at hillcrest!

Justine, kudos to you on your fantastic service that night! You really made our first experience there an awesome one. Thank you. It was a Tuesday night and we were immediately seated, though it started filling up quite fast after we sat down. Justine, our waitress, was very warm and gave us some of her favorite recommendations on the menu. We decided on some good beers(BOGO), RB Fried Rice, sushi and appetizers. I loved the RB fried rice and have had it before at the Hillcrest location. Since we’ve since moved to North SD, this location is mere minutes from our home… bonus! The energy in the restaurant is similar to that of a lively sports bar with a more elegant feel. Our food came out a tad slowly, the menu items a few at a time, but we didn’t mind. We were enjoying the ambience and used the time to relax and unwind with our adult beverages. Another server had brought our gyoza to the wrong table, we did not fault Justine, who was completely apologetic. By then we were stuffed to the gills so it all worked out. We can’t wait to return and try the other items on the menu! 4 stars.

Came here on a Friday for AYCE lunch. Service was great, we came at 11:30am, which was right when they open so there was no wait. Typical 3 rounds of ordering, but we didn’t even make it to 3 lol Standard variety of nigiris. Too bad they only have unis for dinner. The rice and meat ratio is a shame, could really use way less rice. The special rolls that they have are pretty noteworthy, Popcorn Zarigani: Fried crawfish, lots of fried crawfish. YAS. It was delicious, just forget about the actual roll on the bottom. JK. But seriously, the crawfish was SOGOOD. We also tried other rolls and they were all not too bad, but this one was the only one that we reordered. Anyway, overall not bad, I just have a personal preference of nigiri over rolls.

RB Sushi is the best Sushi in town. The food is always delicious and never fails. The service and staff are excellent. I’ve always been a believer that attitude and leadership come from the top. Tuan is the GM there and he and his fellow staff are so kind and provide excellent service! The entire team at RB Sushi is super friendly and very helpful! Anytime you have a craving or just want a quality Japanese meal, you should go to RB Sushi and no place else. Bravo to the owners and the staff at RB Sushi! You rock!

All you can eat sushi that is quality. Need I say more. This place was packed. I guess the secret got out about this place. I sat down and stuffed my face for about $ 20.00. Normally I would spend about 30 to 40 on that quality of sushi. The service was pretty quick, but they seemed tired and irritable. Not a whole lot of smiling and chit chat from the waitresses, but they were not rude by any means. The parking was pretty good and they are located right off the 15 near rancho bernardo. Don’t remember if they have televisions, but the place has new décor and lots of seating. Good for large groups.

My office just moved to Rancho Bernardo and I am not familiar with the area at all. Thank goodness for Unilocal.RB Sushi is about a mile from my office and had good reviews so I figured I would check it out. It’s in a shopping center with other restaurants right off the 15 so the parking can be a little rough around lunch time. The lunch special is definitely the best offer. The 3 item combo is $ 10 and comes with your choice of any of the following rolls or nigiri: rolls — avocado, California; spicy albacore, spicy salmon, spicy scallop, spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail; nigiri — albacore, escolar, salmon, seared tuna, shrimp, smoked salmon, tamago, tuna, yellowtail. This has to be one of the best sushi lunch deals in all of San Diego. The fish is fresh and tasty and the service is great!

This place has nice tasting sushi but I prefer mine on the cooked side, just to be safe! I wouldn’t normally come here because the prices are a little much($ 11-$ 15 per special roll) but it’s my favorite sushi place in the North County region. The staff is so attentive and I appreciate the mints afterwards. I had the fire fire roll($ 10.95). It had baked salmon with shrimp tempura, crab, and avocado inside. It was delicious! I wish the salmon was a little more cooked however, the underside and inside of the salmon was surprisingly raw. My friend and I also shared the beef gyoza($ 4.95). It was deep fried and had a nice beefy filling with little vegetables. The sauce wasn’t too salty and complimented the gyoza well. Haven’t had a deep fried gyoza before! As someone on a budget, I think the most affordable way to get full without spending more than $ 15 would be to buy 1 sushi roll and sharing an appetizer. The special rolls can get big but I know the«non special» rolls can be pretty skinny. Also, if you come before 3pm for lunch, they have some great sushi combos. I’ll probably be coming then next time!

RB sushi has always been one of my favorite places to go. PROS: 1. They have AYCE sushi for $ 24.99 /person. Well worth it if you eat more than 3 rolls. 2. They have really good and fresh sushi 3. They have specials on certain days 4. They have ramen 5. They have everything you need for sake bombs 6. Some days they have a live DJ spinning music 7. The vibe here is cool and the workers are friendly CONS: 1. It’s always packed!!! Expect at least 30min-1 hour wait. 2. Their tables are small and their plates are big, it gets difficult stacking so many sushi plates and drinks all on your table. 3. There’s alot of parking spaces but it’s really tight. All You Can Eat: You don’t get to choose from ALL their sushi menu, but it’s a good amount to choose from. Around 20 sushi rolls, nigiri, hand rolls and appetizers. NOTE: AYCE Appetizers are served as half a portion, so make sure you order doubles! You basically have three rounds to order food. Usually you order the most during your first round, then start decreasing orders on your second and third round. They do NOT allow leftovers, and yes that includes leftover rice. Make sure you only order what you can eat otherwise you will be charged. Overall, this is a good place for sushi. And they have three locations: College Area, Hillcrest & Rancho Bernardo.

Heard about this place for their AYCE option for around $ 20 for lunch! It wasn’t super busy on a Saturday afternoon, and we were seated quickly and the AYCE menu was described to us(the service was excellent throughout the meal). Simply put there are 3 rounds of all you can eat and you mark on the piece of paper what you want to eat for each round and how many of these dishes per order. Any item that has more than half left when you ask for the check you get charged for. I was pleasantly surprised to find not only rolls on the menu, but also some«hot» items from the kitchen, such as calamari, shrimp tempura, miso soup, agedashi tofu, etc. We ordered a bunch of rolls and appetizers from the menu, and the stand out rolls were Fire Fire and Ocean Beach. Unfortunately most of the food was mediocre, definitely good for the price, but none of the hot kitchen items or sushi was super memorable. For most of the rolls the rolls kept falling apart when you picked up the pieces with chopsticks, and the rice would not stick to the seaweed. Many of the fried items on the hot kitchen portion of the menu were overcooked or had too much batter on them. Overall for a group of 4 is cost about $ 90, and while we left with our stomachs stuffed with sushi, I don’t think I’d come by again for the sushi unless we were looking specifically for okay AYCE options.

Service was excellent, extremely attentive but not overbearing. The quality and flavor of the sushi was good. It’s AYCE Sushi for $ 25! It’s worth it to try, especially since there is so many options to please anyone! Baked Mussels: Simple, good flavor, but way to much mayo Some of the sushi had a bit too much eel sauce, but it was still good. Definitely recommend ordering what you know you can eat, otherwise by the time you wait for your next round of food to come by, you’re full! Good luck :)

If you’re not going for AYCE you’re doing it wrong. AYCE is the best bang for your buck, especially since the a la cart pricing on the menu is reeeeediculous. But in my opinion RB sushi is by far the best(and as of recently, the only) AYCE sushi place in San Diego and its worth not having to drive up to asahi up in corona(which is better). But let’s talk RB sushi: — you’re not limited to 3 rounds like on the paper, you can get another sheet — If you go for dinner they have bellys and uni available(limit one order per person per night. and they might not tell you or have it on the page but its a thing. ask to make sure) — The proportions of rice to fish on the nigiri isn’t the greatest, but it’s doable. — Do not fill up on the rolls — The hand rolls are huge and filled with rice and imitation crab meat. Like a lot. I’ve never been charged the leftover food fee, but the mere thought of it always forces my friends and I to play to high stakes games where the loser has to shove more food down their already to capacity filled stomachs.(Read: don’t over order. Although it’s been years and I still cant help it. Sigh) Sometimes it takes a long time for you to get your food but its okay. Service is always great.

I’m a sushi lover, like eat it 4 – 5 days a week kinda lover. So I’m always a fan of any establishment that offers AYCE! I love RB because they aren’t sticklers about fine print, etc. for the most part, if you don’t waste food you’ll be okay. I recently ate at Big Bang down the road that also offers AYCE and their rules killed me. I’ve been coming here for years… and they have stayed pretty consistent. Decent, affordable, and quick service most all the time. On Fridays, they have a dj and 30% off rolls which is nice when I’m not feeling AYCE hungry. What’s cool though, that I learned on my last visit, was that I can get AYCE and my gf orders a la carte. Anyways, RB Sushi is one of my favorite places for a quick sushi fix. A lot of their rolls are good, but one non roll item my gf loves is the shrimp dynamite something… Like shrimp egg roll. And some kind of shrimp dish I forget. It’s like sautéed and has a dipping sauce

I’ve been here numerous times with family and friends, every time is an enjoyable experience. Ambiance: There is booth, table and sushi bar seating. Friday and Saturdays they provide a live DJ to play music. And the big fan attached to the ceiling is cool. The décor is nice, bamboo and wood. Service: The staff is always very nice and makes sure you have everything you need. They are quick. And will ask if you need any water refills or more ginger. Food: They have a la carte and happy hour, but when I come here AYCE is the way I go! Lunch Buffet(before 3pm) is $ 20.95. Dinner Buffet is $ 25.95. And it’s worth it! The quality of the sushi is not the very very best like sushi ota or other sit down restaurants, which is shouldn’t be compared to. But compared to other AYCE sushi places, it’s good for an AYCE place in this area. They have a large selection of rolls and also offer handrolls. The nigiri is usually always good, but there are times where I don’t feel the nigiri is as fresh as the time before. The rice to sashimi portions are decent, not too much rice, but not little enough. The appetizers are my favorite, especially that very crispy fried tempura!!! I also really enjoy their sashimi salad, tofu, garlic edamame, salmon kama and mussels.

Came here after havasu. Our 45 min wait turned into a 10min wait. On top of that we ordered a ton of food, seaweed salad, sashimi salad, gyozo, calamari, yellowtail, all the sushi rolls on the menu and they came out quick. We were stuffing as fast as we could as the food kept coming right out. I was expecting it to take a couple min but we were all surprised with the service. Asked for hot tea, comes right out. This is by far my favorite all you can eat sushi place. They have a good all you can eat selection on appetizers, sashimi, and rolls. I normally hate how there’s too much rice when you order sushi, but not here. The portion of rice to sushi is just right. The appetizers were a good small size also and not overfilling. About 3 bites and the seaweed salad is gone. Everything was on point. I’ll be coming here a lot.

All you can eat sushi!!! You can’t beat the price! Came here for my brothers birthday. Our party was about 15 people with most of us getting the all you can eat sushi– the price us great! Our first round was a pretty bid round. We had passed the sheet around and everyone probably put 2 – 3 rolls a person. Once the food started coming, we were pretty much out of space. We could not keep up with all the sushi rolls they were bringing us! The sushi wasn’t bad at all. You would expect a lower quality for all you can eat, but it was pretty good. I got to sample quite a bit of rolls. Once the food comes in a large party, it’s hard to tell which roll is what. I do remember the salmon belly being one of my favorite pieces. I also like the appetizer variety. Ordered miso, seaweed salad, gyoza, and tempura. For the large party, the server was pretty good. She came frequently refilling drinks. Many others helped with clearing plates too. Overall it was a good experience. Good food and everyone was happy afterwards.

Back in December I reviewed the RB Sushi on El Cajon Blvd. and gave it four stars. Today we had the chance to eat at the Rancho Bernardo location and I am happy to give this restaurant five stars because it is even better. The location is nicer as is the neighborhood, parking is easier, the interior of the restaurant is decorated more tastefully and has a nicer ambiance, the lighting is better, the seating more comfortable, but best of all, the sushi is better. Three of us had the all you can eat option, aka AYCE, to me not the best acronym to describe what we were served, and one ordered only rolls. Here is the rundown of what we ordered: Nigiri Sushi: Octopus: Well cut and very fresh. Not chewy as at the El Cajon Blvd. location. Very nice flavor. Salmon: Also very fresh and flavorful. Seared Tuna — Cajun: We liked this so much we ordered it three times. Wisely very little Cajun season was applied, so the taste of the sear and tuna came out well. Shrimp — Ebi: Very fresh taste, no chemical taste like you get with day old or previously frozen shrimp. Spicy Scallop: Very tasty, not too much spice, so the taste of the tiny scallops came through. Squid — Ika: Also fresh and well cut. Flavorful and not chewy. Tuna: Much better than at the El Cajon Blvd. location as it was fresher and a better cut. Almost melted in my mouth. Yellowtail — Hamachi: Same as Tuna. They’re using much better and fresher fish at this location. One thing I noticed with all the Nigiri Sushi was that they were using much less Mirin(Rice Wine) in their Sushi Rice and therefore it did not overpower the fish which was the case at the El Cajon Blvd. location. Also the ratio of fish to rice was much better. You don’t want the rice portion to be too large. — I would like to see more variety on the menu, such as Salmon Roe, Conger Eel, Red Snapper, BBQ’d Eel and my personal favorite Flying Fish Roe with Raw Quail Egg. Rolls: Dynamite — Krab, Cucumber and Avocado, topped with Assorted Fish, Masago and something baked?: This is the«Lasagna» of Rolls. The taste is good, but there’s no way to eat it with chopsticks. I found this one a bit over the top. Kryptonite — Spicy Krab, Scallop, Avocado and Cucumber, topped with Seared Tuna, Albacore and Lemon Slices: What a combination of delicious different flavors that work so well with one another, and then you dip it into a soy cilantro sauce. My only criticism is that the tuna was overpowered by the other ingredients. Rainbow — Spicy Krab, Avocado and Cucumber, topped with assorted Fish, Tuna, Yellow Tail, Salmon and Shrimp: I liked this roll a lot for ascetic reasons as I liked the way they made it and I liked the taste very much. With the various fish on the outside the flavor came through nicely. Spicy Albacore — Albacore, Jalapeño, Red Onion and Cucumber, topped with Green Onion: This is really good and works so well together, with a taste of fish, crunch of the red onion and cucumber and just the right amount of heat. Spicy Crispy — Spicy Tuna, Jalapeño, Avocado, Deep Fried Gobo Root Topping: As with the Dynamite Roll, this is a bot over the top. Delicious for sure, but a strange combination of ingredients that overpower the Tuna. Rolls seems to be thing and they dominate the menu. They are creative for sure and tasty too, but to me none of them come close to the pure and refined taste of Nigiri Sushi, where you only taste the fish and the Sushi Rice. So here you can have the best of both worlds, great Nigiri Sushi and an extensive selection of rolls. I think AYCE is the way to go, with both types of Sushi. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive even though the restaurant was quite busy. One negative I need to report is the state of the Men’s Room which was not good. The Men’s Room needs to be renovated and kept cleaner. This is also the case with the El Cajon Blvd. location. Good Sushi and shoddy looking unclean Restrooms don’t go together. As this review is only based on a first visit, I will update it after future visits. First impressions, are important, and ours was a positive one today. We all enjoyed the Sushi and plan on returning. I can recommend RB Sushi highly. Update May 2, 2015, Lunch, Three orders each of Tuna, Yellowtail and Seared Tuna; One order each of Mackerel, Salmon, Shrimp, Squid and Octopus. A la carte = $ 72.00AYCE = $ 20.95. You do the math!
