This was THEWORST Chinese food I’ve ever eaten. I was a little suspicious when parts of the sign were missing making it «RI. .NG», and almost walked out when I came in and saw how dark, dingy, and dirty the place was… almost walked out again when I found out they took cash only, not even debit cards, and I had to write a CHECK. But, I was craving Chinese and had to dash back to work asap. After I ordered, I heard her put something in the microwave(yes, the place was so quiet and empty I could hear the microwave in the back). Almost waked out then too. I don’t know what they microwaved… could have been the chewy and soggy kung pow chicken, or perhaps the orange chicken that was more like fried bits of bread dipped in a sweet sauce.

What happened to this place… for the last couple weeks it’s been closed, there’s paper in the windows, and it looks«boarded up». I’ve lived in this neighborhood for years and usually stop by after work and have them make me up a tofu veggie dish that is always made to order and fresh, healthy, etc. The couple who run it are really nice and always I’m wondering what the heck happened, did they close shop or retire or???

to be honest guys. this place isnt as bad as everyone talks about. they are serving sushi now which was in my opinion was good enough. they had to have more customers so that their food is always fresh. their food taste a bit funky because they arent fresh. if they get more customers and more chance to cook and replace their food stock regularly, they are potentially good. give them a chance! the couple who are there to sell the food is nice n friendly too.

I think the place looks a bit dicey … and when I walk my dogs, we always pick up the pace around this eatery. I ate here once and it was a bit funky, and I must not be the only one that thinks this cause there is hardly ever anyone in there eating…

I feel a little guilty for giving this place 2 stars, but as I looked at my range of reviews, I realized that I have very few places on the low star spectrum. This place still earns my patronage, but only because it’s close and cheap so it’s a quick fix for those hungover Mondays when I don’t crave phở at work. It’s pretty much Chinese food at its worst. Heavy, greasy, always soggy, and probably made with a healthy dose of MSG(mmmmmm). I pretty much always just get the 2 item combo with spicy orange chicken(not very spicy, and not crispy at all /sad face) and beef brocolli. I get half chow mein and half fried rice and douse it liberally with Sriracha to make me forget that fact that everything in my styrofoam container tastes the same. It appears to be family run and that’s legit, but for as slow as it always is when I’m there, I’m surprised they’re able to stay afloat. Oh well, good for them, keep on truckin’!

The first reviewer is right, sometimes when time is short, and money is shorter, you do things you’re not proud of. And eating here is definitely high on the list of things that while you’re doing them, you’re thinking«oh no, what am I doing, just stop… stop…walk away… no…wait, did I really just do that… oh crap.» Your stomach is none too pleased after eating here, probably because it’s filled with flavorless grease. The food is so sad, that you actually long for food court quality Chinese food and start thinking about other terrible places you’ve eaten at that suddenly don’t seem so bad.

Of all the Rice Kings I’ve been to, this one is more like a Rice Squire. Food always tastes off when I come to this one. I’ve told myself multiple times that I wouldn’t go back but when it’s 3:24pm, I’m low on cash, and I haven’t taken my lunch yet, I want something I could practically walk to from work and won’t break the bank. This Rice King is not the answer. Every dish I’ve had here stands out as being less than mediocre. I always leave disappointed like when you’re 6 years old and get clothes for Christmas instead of toys. Things I find noteworthy: They serve Korean BBQ short ribs, which I’m a total sucker for, but I don’t think I’d try them here because I don’t want to feel like I do every Christmas morning. The orange chicken here will never rekindle the memory of crack laced Panda Express orange chicken or what they used to serve at Torero Grille on a good day. The place doesn’t feel very clean(old, faded posters and hand written signs). The folks who run the place are pretty nice though. And the prices are somewhat low. Probably what keeps me from taking this down a star.
