Went with friends on Saturday. Fairly crowded. If you come just to drink whiskey then you will love it. There is a lot of wood and you can smell the oils from oranges and lemons that are used for garnish. There were tthree of us and I was the only one who could get the drink they wanted. One friend had to sub her order for a mule… which was served in a super skinny glass filled with large ice cubes and very little alcohol. Isn’t a mule supposed to be served in a copper cup? Even their fancy menu says a drink will be served in a «coupe». Must mean something different to them. My other friend got a «make do» for her order of the cobbler cocktail and it is served with a mound of shaved ice which makes the drink messy and difficult to drink. All our drink were incredibly tiny and for $ 11 – 12 a drink, I want more and better.

This was my first time going out in North Park and while it was enjoyable, I wasn’t overwhelmed. Pros: the whole place is very 1930s, which is pretty cool; pool tables; plenty of staff who always come and remove the empty glasses, so they aren’t sitting everywhere; reasonable amount of parking; smoking patio(I’m not a smoker, but it had plenty of seating and was cooler than inside). Cons: really pricy; not a ton of seating; crowded to the point that you basically had to elbow your way through to get anywhere; hot. Did I mention hot?

Love the old-timey bar keeps and awesome ladder set up behind the bar. Super knowledgeable bartenders, which is great. Enjoyed a few concoctions including a few manhattans. Tasty drinks for sure and cool ambiance. Just be aware it’s a dimly lit bar, which I think is cool. Sometimes it’s a hipster crowd and at others it’s an older crowd. Very cool bar!

I love a good whiskey bar– so we came to Seven Grand for business drinks. First of all, I just don’t get it. The logo looks super tacky– and not what you would expect from an upscale whisky bar with higher end drinks. Still we ventured in. The server and bartender were absolutely rude. The bathroom was disgusting with paper everywhere and a dead roach in the corner(eeww). The music was so loud that you couldn’t even have a conversation. It was weird to have a DJ at a whisky bar– and frankly the vibe just felt off. I don’t have any intention of returning.

Seven Grand was great when they had live music and a party vibe in the back room. Now they’ve made it into a private lounge area where you have to get past a doorman and be seated by a hostess, at which point you can choose between three cocktails of their choosing. Lame. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

First time going to North Park. Originally from central Wisconsin but new to San Diego. Took my girlfriend here tonight. Car almost got towed. Since it was raining my girlfriend and I thought the attendant at the parking lot was gone so my girlfriend and I took a gamble and didn’t pay but we rolled snake eyes so we lucked out. Cheers to first time at Seven Grand. Maybe I’ll go again. –Cooper

This place has some of the best old fashions around. Love the atmosphere, cigar lounge, and pool tables. Gareth makes this place energetic and makes you want to keep coming back.

Place is chill. They sell cigars and have an absurd amount of whiskey options. There’s a side smoking area and some interesting private room that you have to press a button to call someone to open. I’m not quite sure what it’s for but another time I went, the room was completely open and they had live music playing. The drinks are a little pricey but not ridiculous. The old fashion is strong and tastes great. They also have pool tables. My only gripe is that the bar and the pool tables are separated by this little divider. The problem with that is that it makes the bar area super cramped because some people will bum it there after they get their drinks essentially clogging up the bar.

I really enjoyed this place when the boyfriend and I went. We wanted to go to a speak easy and were delighted to find that the bar itself had pool tables! The drinks were delicious and the ambience as a whole was awesome. It had a rustic feel. To get to the whiskeybar speakeasy, you go to the back and flip the light switch. Make sure to not bring your drinks back there from the bar itself because they won’t allow you to enter the speak easy with them. The staff was very friendly and were very helpful in recommending things and places to visit in San Diego.

These guys(and gals) sure can make an Old Fashioned. Seven Grand is a whiskey bar. The shelves are lined with different kinds of whiskeys, but they still have some good ol’ San Diego brews on tap, just in case whiskey isn’t your thing. This place is ALWAYS packed so prepare yourself. The bartenders will get around to you and try to be quick about it. There is a «speakeasy» in the back. It is more like a door in the back that leads to another room, but whatever.(TIP: Don’t get a drink at the main bar if you are planning to head back there. They will stop you. Found out the hard way.) Bands play most weekends. There are two pool tables which are popular, of course. There is a small patio with lots of smoking. Not recommended. Cigars are available at the bar. The thing that sets this whiskey bar apart is the odds touches here and there. TVs around the place show old, messed up, weird movies. Antlers hang from the walls. The wall paper and fixtures suggests an early 20th century dining room. It is just weird and it works.

This is my go-to place for whiskies. They recently changed the backroom from a live music venue kinda of bar to a posh speakeasy lounge. Not sure if it’s a good idea cos I hardly ever see people drinking there. On the other hand, the main room is awesome, cool crowd, chill area with awesome drinks. Selections of whiskies are not crazy impressive but it was decent, mixed drinks were good too, my faves are their old fashioned and whiskey sour. I heard they have happy hour too, but I never made it that early.

If you love whiskey this is the bar for you. If you don’t… Maybe not so much. Similar to polite provisions and all the newer hip bars that makes craft drinks from whiskey is «super cool». Expect to wait a good amount for well made cocktails. Yes– maybe too super cool for me. I’m not into this uppity style bar and there is nothing wrong with it. It’s just not for anyone. I guess I just don’t care too much and just love that inexpensive keeping it real dive bar. I don’t have money and I honestly don’t want to spend 7 grand, more like 7 dollars… Side note, they don’t let you wear baseball caps in(sure, I would say that’s fair bc it’s a classy bar) BUT they let guys with beanies in??? Now that I don’t get! I guess a beanie has more class than a baseball cap? It’s okay– I don’t own either. But when I do come here, Whiskey sours are made superior here, highly suggest it. But Whatever you do, do not get the nasty mint julep, it’s was the grossest thing I’ve tasted. Other than that been here several times and it’s a place in North Park you’ll find class instead of trash.

Nice little wiskey bar tucked away in North Park. I got there around 7 and the place was pretty empty. They had a very extensive whiskey list so it took a while to choose what i wanted to drink I ended up getting a mixed drink. It was their Toby Mule, which was pretty much a Kentucky Mule. I was looking for Ballast Point whiskey and they mentioned it was in their back bar. So turns out there is a bar within the bar. IT was actually super legit. They have a back room bar that has a ton of high end whiskey on the list. They had Pappy Van Winkle, Ballast Point, All the Japanese whiskey that is out there. Needless to say if you are looking for some rare or hard to find whisky Seven Grand most likely has it! Over all a very nice spot and am looking forward to coming back so i can drink some more tasty whiskey!

HOLYHIPSTERS, batman! THEY’REEVERYWHERE. Apparently, if you wear thick framed glasses, a paperboy hat, rock a ‘20s mustache and jeans that are too tight, I believe you’ve come to the right place. Honestly, I have nothing great or terrible to say about this place other than MEHH, I’ve had better.

The boyfriend and I love a good, dark bar full of whiskey and scotch. If there is leather seats to shimmy into and some animal heads and/or antlers on the way, I’m even more enthralled. If it’s a speakeasy, I can’t even and this joint? Has it all. In the back there’s a room that opens up to a small intimate music venue — and up front you’ve got a wall of spirits and plenty of bartending folk to muddle things for you. We settled into a half circle lounge couch in the back, with two fingers of whatever struck our fancy from the extensive menu. The also have vintage cocktails, fresh squeezed juices and they make their syrups in house. They have live music in that back speak easy — it’s down the hallway past the bathroom and doesn’t look like much from the outside, just a simple door — like a speakeasy-esque music hall should. They also have a smoking patio for cigars and some pool tables up front. I imagine on a busy Saturday night it gets a little too cozy and there is a dress code that is relaxed Sunday through Thursday then no NOBALLHATS, TANKTOPS, JERSEYS, SHORTSORFLIPFLOPS on Friday and Saturday. If you chill there during the week, don’t be caught in your shorts and flippy floppies on the hot nights.

Live music in the back room and pool tables in the front. There is a Hipster/Speak Easy feel. The bartenders are dressed-up and are über friendly and make awesome whiskey drinks. TIP: Holly is the BEST and my most favorite bartender in San Diego. #ThatisAll #DropTheMic

This review is a long time coming… With its great selection of whiskey in an area of SD so focused on beers, Seven Grand is a breath of fresh air, or at least between sips of smokey drinks. The bartenders here know what’s up and can(and will) give you specific drink profiles should you seem to be interested in a drink to enjoy rather than merely consume in large quantities. They will also spend ample time preparing your drinks which can be a fun sight to watch in its own right. Frat boys go home, the mixed drinks here will put hairs on your chest and anything you can with no rocks, you should. The music venue in the back room does a great job of booking up and coming bands of different genres with sometimes local groups and often times touring musicians stopping by after/before an LA stretch. It can get a bit crowded and hot on the weekends, but there are always an act or two in the middle of the week perfect for locals, odd hour workers, and the youthful who tend to not give a f#$@. All in all, one of the musts in North Parks once you are sick of the brewery tours or feeling like a little more than beer tonight.

Whiskey, whiskey based cocktails and more whiskey! What more can a whiskey connoisseur ask for? If you’re looking for a chill place to enjoy a pour or two, come here before peak hours. You can score on some $ 5 Old Fashions or $ 6 pours of bourbon or scotch from 5−7pm during the week. There’s a decently sized patio if you’re looking to pair up your cigar with your drink. What’s better than having two tasty treats that complement each other very well?! Their original location is in DTLA, on the corner on 7th and Grand, hence the name(a little FYI for you). If you’ve been to the OG location then you’ll notice how much smaller this Nutty Ps spot is! The whiskey selection is quite extensive and you’ll find everything from the typical stuff you’d see at most bars to some artisanal ones from micro-distilleries. Those are a bit on the steep side but if you’re looking to indulge, go for it. Just avoid this place on the weekends, you’ll barely have room to even stand!

Drank a whole whiskey sour all by myself here. Sobered up, drove all the way to Del Mar to drop off a friend, then drove all the way home. Got white girl wasted, had no idea. But goddamn was that whiskey sour good. Would totes do it all over again, sans the driving part because I’m that lazy. There are so many things right about Seven Grand, so many things…

Seven Grand’~ This is a fun bar located in North Park that always entertains with a live band on weekend nights! The live music can be found at the back room, while the front room as pool tables for those who prefer to play. As for the ambiance it has the roaring twenties/speakeasy feel. The bartenders are dressed up like prohibition era times and they are really friendly, and great at mixing and making their whiskey drinks which is their specialty… other cocktails if whiskey isn’t your thing! The crafty cocktails here are worth the trip as well as bands that perform here. :) TIP: The best Old Fashioned and Whiskey Sours. a must try!
