Yummmm endless mimosa brunch! Tried chicken and waffles for the first time and I’m happy it was here. The pistachio bread pudding French toast was better with each bite. Stacey was our server and was awesome!

Stopped in here with a girlfriend in town from LA late-ish on a Saturday night. We had been to a few other local spots before arriving at west Coast Tavern, just looking for a casual spot to enjoy a fair priced cocktail and catch up. The staff was awesome from the bartenders to the door-staff. Drinks were reasonably stiff and priced just right. I’ll definitely be back :)

I really like this place. There is great food and large selection of beer. Minus one star because it is so damn loud! I ordered the mushroom burger which was fantastic and my bf got the buffalo and cheese which was awesome! There is a parking structure nearby that is very reasonable.

I am a fan of West Coast Tavern. I like to go there after work with my friends to have some drinks! and they have awesome drinks! In particular we like to share the gigantic mule. I love the décor and the atmosphere it’s usually very relaxed there. The food is good… It used to be great! They used to have sliders on the menu and then that disappeared and now they serve Brussel sprouts. Don’t get me wrong I love brussel sprouts but I really loved those sliders, and theses of course are off of the happy hour menu. This is the reason I give it four out of five stars is the fact that I don’t go in there unless it is happy hour. The reason is because of the prices, I think their menu is way overpriced outside of Happy Hour. If you do catch them during those hours then it’s a great place to hang out have some drinks and get some food.

Cool place, good atmosphere and food/drinks. I would advise going during happy hour 12−6pm. Cocktails are $ 6 and so are some food items. I went on a Sunday and they had a dj playing 90’s hip hop/r&b. My only complaint was the 2 hr table maximum. If you stay at your table more than 2 hours, a waitress will start clearing your food/drinks to make way for another party.

I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich, which came with a surprisingly spicy cup of tomato soup. Bf ordered a chicken breast sandwich, which came with fries. Unfortunately, the side of garlic aioli was my favorite part of the meal, as I kept dipping fries in it. My boyfriend wasn’t thrilled with his sandwich’s flavor or temperature, and I was a bit grossed out by the amount of grease that dripped off and out of my lukewarm grilled cheese. We both thought we ordered the wrong item, after we saw the Mac n cheese go by, and it looked unbelievably good. I might eat there again, but I sure wouldn’t order the same dishes.

Last night was my 2nd time here and once again it did not disappoint. I have been here before and just had appetizers. I tried the BBQ burger here last night. It was amazing! It had very thick bacon in it and a cole slaw inside it. I will warn you that it is hard to eat. It gets messy. A little less BBQ would have probably taken care of that. My burger was a bit pricey at $ 17. Yikes! The fries were great as well. We had Moscow mules and they were okay. I probably should have asked what type of vodka they used. It was probably too weak for my high alcohol tolerance.

West Coast Tavern offers great drinks! They have some unique names and taste great! The mimosas are a perfect balance of Fresh Squeezed OJ and Bubbles(Champagne)!! Cheers to everyone! PS: Can’t wait to come back and try their brunch!

I’ve been coming to west coast for years for, brunch, dinner, and drinks. The location is central and I love that it is/was an actual theater. Fun on Friday/Sat nights if you want somewhere to dance. They have a very small dance floor so it doesn’t feel like a club to me. It’s dark enough to feel comfortable dancing, but you could also just sit at the bar to have a drink and not feel awkward. Brunch: I enjoy the unlimited mimosas(who doesn’t) and when I was here on Sunday I experienced great customer service. Halfway through eating my Veggie Breakfast mac i found a rather large chunk of hair. The server immediately apologized, brought me back a new dish quickly, and the meal was covered. Make reservations for large parties and don’t go here if you expect super cheap drinks since this is not a dive bar.

Did someone say Make Your Own Bloody Mary bar? Because color me sold. Great ambiance and vibe for a brunch spot, we were seated quickly on a Saturday morning and served just as fast. The food was a bit heavy, but it was downright delicious and I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Awesome awesome awesome. Maybe it’s how faded we got at happy hour, maybe it was because we were waiting to see snoop Dogg. But this place knocked my socks off. Awesome food and great drink specials. Britt was the best, hope you get her section. Well be back West Coast.

I’ve got to say that if it weren’t for the long line at a neighboring restaurant for Sunday brunch I would have never thought to try West Coast Tavern and then I sure would have missed out on such a delicious meal. Came to West Coast Tavern with one of my girlfriends before a day of shopping. Located right in the heart of North Park it was the perfect day to have Sunday brunch on their patio. The service was quick and we were seated immediately. Their brunch menu was not extensive and had quite of bit of Mexican inspired dishes. Our server was nice unfortunately I forgot his name but he was very knowledgeable about the menu and he gave us his recommended choices for breakfast/brunch dishes. We ended up both getting the biscuits and gravy. Their coffee came one of the local coffee shops nearby, Dark Horse coffee roasters. They did have a choice between regular coffee or cold brew! The service was very quick. The portions were quite hefty. The biscuits and gravy were delicious but very rich. Almost too rich. Probably a dish I would have just shared nonetheless it was good. I wouldn’t mind coming back here again for meal. Prices were decent at an average of $ 12/plate and of course parking is always tricky here in this part of town so either on the street or at the structure. I’ve come here before also for a drink and it is a very fun atmosphere when the sun sets. Definitely a must try while in the area.

Our server Brian asked what my name was, then asked«can I call you beautiful»? Are you freakin kidding me? I think my bottom lip dropped to the floor. I told him I’d see him tomorrow and to make my reservation. That said, they have a new regular. Oh yeah, and the chicken friend chicken concoction they serve up with that ridiculous make it yourself bloody mary bar… bomb! It’s not the most posh looking spot, nor is it very large in size, but they serve up some tasty brunch options… and servers with a lot of swag!

West coast is not so bad… But quite pricey for food. I guess everywhere in north park has pricey food now because that’s the thing with previous ghetto neighborhoods turning into«hipsterish» neighborhoods, prices of everything goes up, housing, food, drinking. Good for San Diego economy… The food is pricey. I wouldn’t come eat here for dinner again, but Brunch yes. And I’ve come here for brunch, they have good brunch and build your own Bloody Mary. The BYO bloodys are awesome, you can add everything you like. Don’t get me wrong, food is good. I like their Benedicts. I wouldn’t choose to eat here, rather a good olé drinking spot for a girls night out. Been here many times for the night scene. It’s pretty cool, crowded and always a good time.

I’ve been coming to West Coast Tavern for years! Here’s why I always come back — it’s consistent. I’ve never had a bad experience here. Whether I’ve stopped in for drinks or am grabbing a quick bite. I’ve seen different wait staff, bartenders, and security guards come and go. But here’s the one thing that’s always remained the same, they’re nice! There are no grumpy security guards. No rude waitresses. Everyone is friendly and helpful and for me, that goes a lot further than being the trendiest or coolest place on the block. Let’s talk about food! The quality of the food has really evolved over the years. I remember for the longest time, we would only order apps here. That all changed a couples years ago(I believe they have a new chef). The food is thoughtful, creative, and delicious. A few of the standouts are the Brussels Sprouts! Bacon, shaved parmesan and a light delicious coating make these some of the best brussels around. The chicken, spinach mac n’ cheese is another favorite of mine. The cheese sauce is creamy but not overwhelmingly cheesy. The grilled chicken and spinach add great flavor and texture… and also fool me into think I’m eating healthy. There’s a Dj after 930. The place gets packed so plan accordingly. Also, they’ve transformed the old theatre attached to it(North Park Observatory). There are a ton of big artist that play there. If you happen to go on a night when there’s a concert — note that the place gets packed. And it’s packed with whatever crowd is going to see that concert(indie music — indie fans; hip hop artist — hip hop heads… you get it). It’s good people watching regardless.

This place is one of my favorite spots in North Park besides Urbn. It’s fun, hip and right down the street from new digs. I would have to say my go to items here are the build your own bloody during brunch, any of the flatbreads and last but not least then Asian five spice chicken wings. These chicken wings are high up on my SD chicken wang list! *Good place to drink and get some eats during the day or late afternoon. **Busy on Friday and Saturday nights. Can get trashy real fast.

I really like this place! Went here for the first time last night and it was very live. The bartenders were attentive and quick. & The music was on point. The next morning, I came here for breakfast too! I got the veggie Mac and cheese while my hubby got the pork belly waffles. My dish was good but his was way better! His waffle had a sweet yet not *too* sweet taste and the pork went well together. It’s kinda like chicken and waffles. They have bottomless mimosas for $ 15. I think this is only for brunch however. This place also hosts concerts inside the observatory. Talk about versatile!

Marrow. buttery, oily and just down right savory. And a good portion too… well for one hungry heffer for me. Served split into two halves, baked to a gelatinous perfection served with gorgeous slices of toasted parmesan bread. I cleaned that bone and seriously had internal thoughts of taking them home to boil them for a broth. I also ordered the charcuterie & cheese board…3 cheeses and 3 types of salami. A hard cheese, a soft creamy goat and a bleu cheese that was pungent and sharp. Chorizo salami had a spicy bit to it but with the cream goat cheese it mulled the bite. There was also a fennal one and I forgot the other one… but all I could remember of that board was the pairing of the hard cheese and the sweetness of the boysenberry… omg! it was like wine in my mouth. It was like the scene from Ratatouille when Remy was going off on the pairing of cheese and bread with fireworks and explosions going on in my mouth. The rest of my friends just looked at me with the most awkward face«I don’t get it.»

We had approximately fifty minutes between the time we stepped in to West Coast Tavern and the time we were told we had to be at the Observatory’s box office to line up for our VIP event. When we walked in, there were exactly three other people in the dining room, and one waitress behind the bar. We figured our chances of meeting our deadline would be pretty good. We grabbed a high table near the front window and took a look at the menu. Nothing truly jumped out at me(not so for my husband), but I eventually decided to order the Kale Caesar salad with the salmon(which tacked on an unbelievable $ 8 to the cost of the salad). My husband ordered the Shrimp & Grits and a draft beer. Once the waitress/barkeep/hostess took our order and delivered the beer, she basically ignored us. She slipped out from behind the bar to tend to the group of three that were there before us, and then to tend to the others who came in after us, but never came back to our little table until it was time to pay. Meanwhile, the clock was ticking on our meals. I can’t pretend to know what goes on in a restaurant kitchen, but with no patrons ahead of us(the group of three that I previously mentioned were solely focused on the beers, not the foods), and with one salad entrée and one entrée comprised of mostly shrimp, it’s hard to understand why it took more than 30 minutes to get our food to us. The waitress-type-person never once came by to check on us, or to tell us where our order was in the grand scheme of things. I was about two seconds away from asking her to check on things when another girl came out with our meals. And when it was placed in front of us? I STILL do not understand what took so long. The salmon piece was insultingly tiny(I mentioned they charged $ 8 for that addition, right?) And the salad itself was barely large enough to qualify as an entrée(and I know that makes me sound like a glutton). Conversely, my husband loved his meal. His little plate was piled high with shrimp and grits, and he said the flavor was really good. But again, he had shrimp — probably one of the easiest, quickest things to cook, and yet it took over half an hour to get to us. The salad was good, I’ll give it that. I loved that it was made of kale, and the dressing that they used was tangy and spicy, without being overpowering. It was more than just fresh cracked black pepper, which was nice. But the salmon was disappointing and the cheese was almost non-existent. At any rate, we had to flag the server-type girl down to get our check as we were shoveling food into our faces, just so that we could get to the box office on time. Certainly not conducive to proper digestion or a pleasant dining experience. I doubt we’ll go back, should we be in the area. There are just too many fantastic places in the North Park area to have to put with something like this.
