We had wonderful service on a quiet night on Mission Beach and really enjoyed the Sneak Joint. This was election night and you’d think it was Monday night football watching people get so wrapped up into the Reds and Blues. Wine selection is tiny but the service, throwback atmosphere and friendliness made for a fun night. This place is very inexpensive and definitely worth trying!

They’ve got an awesome location, just a stone’s throw from the Mission Beach Boardwalk. I’ve come here many times for their breakfast burritos after a morning spent on the beach. It’s a pretty solid option although the service can be pretty slow. I’ve been in there a couple times when there was only one girl working(the bar and waitressing) with a pretty full house. I’m not sure if they just have inconsistent crowds or they just aren’t good at scheduling enough people. That said, it doesn’t really stop my from coming here since the location is convenient and the food is acceptably good. Although, I have to admit… I miss the place that used to be here. Liar’s Club was awesome and hard to live up to.

After spending some time at the beach, I stopped here to have some lunch and a adult beverage for lunch. Sneak Joint is located right on Mission Blvd., so it is very easy to find. I ordered their small grilled chicken nachos for $ 5.95( ) and a pint of bud light for $ 3.95. Quite reasonable.( ) Oh yes, the nachos are not on the menu, so you have to inquire about them. The grilled chicken nachos were good, I really enjoyed the tortilla chips. I forgot to ask them if they were house made, because if they are, they add a nice spicy seasoning to them. The chicken on the nachos was okay. It was moist but could of been better seasoned. The cheese was not of the liquid variety, which I was hoping for, but rather they sprinkled some cheddar and quickly baked it. The guacamole was a little on the sour side. Probably to much lemon or lime. The nachos were topped of with some chopped tomatoes and a generous sprinkling of cotija cheese.( ) They were some descent good nachos for $ 5.95. The service was quite good. The young lady I had was polite and on point. She was the only server on the floor and was quite capable of handling the place.

Your typical small divey type bar, except that the waitresses are smoking hot, and wearing very little, athough it was somewhat cold and cloudy. wearing bikinis but with sweatshirts. I am all for it, but they are incredibly slow, and seems as if they just forget about you, despite the lack of any crowds. I got over it. I came on a sunday, 25 cent wings. Not bad, not great, but cheap, and there are definitely plenty of cute girls that frequent this establishment. Not a great beer selection, but they had Stone, Race 5, and this other double IPA that was good enough for me. $ 5 bucks for a beer, not too shabby. All in all, pretty cool little spot, that I would go back to, hopefully on a warmer, sunnier day, if you catch my drift.

Only gets two stars because the wings were 25cents each and were absolutely amazing. Me and my girlfriend ordered 10 to share for an appetizer and got the buffalo and the teriyaki and they didn’t disappoint. Aside from the awesome wings, the service was so-so, our waitress was very nice but seemed to forget about us when a group of her friends showed up. I ordered a kettle one martini on the rocks and by the time i received it, it was so watered down that it tasted like a vodka water. Not to mention they served it to me in a plastic cup. Worst martini ever. I drank it anyway and by the time our waitress got back to us we had finished our wings and both of our drinks and we decided to go elsewhere. I would definitely come back for the wings but i will opt for a beer next time. Wings: A+ Service: C Bartender: F

On my last day in SD, after a big brunch at Isabel’s we all started to get a little hungry again. I wanted an acai bowl before I left but then the thought of sweet potato fries came to mind and I made that vocal to the group. They were sold and that’s when the appetizer crawl started. Both of the girls I was with live or had lived in PB. I said that we could get sweet potato fries at PB Ale House but I had already been there, that’s when they quickly suggested we head to Sneaks Joint. They kept ranting and raving about the sauce that it was served with and how thin and crispy they were. We grabbed a table outside even though it was a little bit on the cooler side and Sneaks deck area was in the shade. Our waitress came over, eager and happy to serve us, probably because we were her last table! We ordered 3 waters(detox from Sunday Funday) and then a large order of sweet potato fries. Within minutes the cone shaped paper full of beautiful orange fries were placed in front of us. Dusted lightly with a little sea salt, the fries were thin, crispy and had almost no greasy to them. The sauce that it’s served with was a chipotle like mayo but the sauce that the girls really like with it is the Sweet Chili Chutney from the calamari dish. That sauce for me was too runny, where as the sauce the fries were served up with had more texture to it. And for $ 6 how can one go wrong!

Note: This review covers the 3-course dinner + beer pairings offered during San Diego Beer Week featuring Stone Brewery for $ 30/person. After quite an amazing experience, I’ll have to reconsider coming back here to try their regular menu, hence the rating. My actual rating is 4.5, but I was very happy about the improvements and the overall dining experience so I rounded up. This 3-course menu/pairings were quite a pleasant surprise from last year’s offering, which was more so-so. — As mentioned earlier, I was VERY hesitant to try Sneak Joint again for their SDBW beer dinner special, as the food at the time [~Nov. 2010] was quite bland. The only reason why I went along with it was because it was one of the cheap beer dinners and I didn’t have to reserve, and my friend lives in PB, so it would be a short drive there. He also is conveniently available whenever I find my dining gems(ie Izakaya Masa). We came into a VERY packed bar because everyone was watching the Chargers-Raiders game. It took a while to find one of the waitresses, but it was understandable because of their Beer Week events as well as the game. Turns out that the waitresses were in bikinis. My friend, being a 34 year old single male who acts like in his mid-late 20’s, naturally appreciated such eye candy. I was wondering if I would find men in Speedos(upon asking, waitresses says they wear T-shirts and shorts, but she wishes it would be like that) We ordered the 3-course beer pairing menu, which consisted of the following Course #1 Me: Coconut Shrimp with Creamy Banana Sauce, paired with Stone Green Tea IPA. The jumbo coconut shrimp was PERFECT. The shrimp was firm yet tender, and the coconut masked the fried taste yet the coconut wasn’t overpowering. The creamy banana sauce added a sweetness that complemented the entire dish, and served as an alternate food source as my friend and I dipped our fingers into the sauce and ate the sauce itself. This is coconut shrimp done right. Said friend took the sauce home. Stone Green Tea IPA: I don’t like IPA’s(I don’t like very bitter or hoppy beers), so it is saying a lot that I liked mine. Could taste the hint of tea and it was like I was drinking alcoholic tea. Wasn’t the best beer that I had, but I’ll drink it provided it is paired with food similar to the shriimp. Friend: Braised Brisket Crostini: Noteworthy was that the brisket was braised in tequilla. It was a simpler version of the bruschetta with more meat and cheese. Pretty good, but I loved my dish better Stone Double Bastard Ale: Pass. Way too hoppy and bitter for his and my taste. Course #2 My friend and I ordered the Ribeye and Lobster Tail. I was a bit disheartened when the original beer it was supposed to be paired with ran out, the Stone Chocolate Cherry Stout, but the waiter mentioned that that beer had a limited supply, and ran out rather quickly, so we got the Stone Imperial Stout. This was my favorite beer as I had this taste in mind when I think«chocolate-flavored beer», and this beer is up there with the Stoned Smoked Porter. The dish itself was average, but it wasn’t like I was paying $ 50 for surf and turf, so it was good for the price. The ribeye tasted like a typical ribeye, and the lobster tail tasted like lobster tail. I didn’t like how difficult it was to take the lobster meat out, as a sign of a good lobster is that you can just take the meat in one piece. It also came with a side of mashed potatoes and sweet carrots. The beer was the stronger flavor between the beer and the meal. Course #3 The third course was Pumpkin Pie, paired with the La Citrueille Celeste de Citracado, French for«The Heavenly Pumpkin of Citracado», Citracado being the street that Stone Brewery is on. The pie is handmade served with tahitian vanilla bean ice cream, candied pecans and whipped cream. I knew about Tahitian vanilla bean as the last time I was served that was at the French Laundry. This dessert pairing is an example of a perfect food-drink combination. The beer has pumpkin taste, but adds the bitterness and rounds out the sweet flavors of the pumpkin pie and ice cream. The tahitian vanilla complements the sweetness of the pumpkin, with crunch from the roasted pecans and pie crust. The flavors and textures complemented each other to a very delicious dessert, which I enjoyed every bite. And I still have half that I will pleasantly enjoy over coffee as I tackle my studies this weekend. The experience was concluded with a personal visit from the executive chef. We complemented him on our experience while mentioning that last year’s event wasn’t that great. According to the executive chef, it was because they hired chef consultants and brought him aboard to change the menu, and they weren’t as ready to do Beer Week last year. As the executive chef, he was the one that wrote all the tasting menus for the event.

Why the 2-star update? Because Sneak Joint is getting worse and worse. I’m still bitter about the crappy time I had here last weekend… * Food consistency is a major issue. For example, I’ve ordered the grilled cheese panini with added turkey on several occasions and each time received something very different. Most recently, the panini contained very little turkey and was barely edible due to the extremely acidic onion goop. * I’ve never had a burger cooked anywhere close to requested doneness here. * The champagne listed in Sneak Joint’s drink menu is $ 9 a glass. I just laughed out loud as I typed that. * The $ 15 «Shark Bowl» I split with some buddies – wasn’t my idea to order such a thing – was ridiculous. What a lame excuse for an alcoholic beverage. And the flighty waitress who repeatedly urged us to push the gummi sharks to the bottom of the bowl so the sharks can become«marinated in alcohol» really needs to get out more. * Love loud music, but the music volume here during a recent lunch made conversation impossible. You can imagine how pissed I was later in the day when a friend of the owner explained to me that the reason for the extra-loud music, according to the owner, is quick table turnover. Real nice. Sneak Joint won’t be benefitting from my business any time in the near future.

Okay, for starters, I am NOT the person to write a one star review. ever, ever, ever. Mostly because I work in the industry and I know that the people who write reviews on here can be completely ridiculous. However, my review is based on several visits here… and by several, I mean like six. This is a popular place to grab a burger or drink, in general. The food and drinks are pretty decent for beach grub. Unfortunately, I haven’t been impressed by the service, which for me is a major determining factor. The location sells itself, so when I have visited, there has always been a decent crowd. I have walked in, sat down, sat at the bar, etc, and literally been ignored for more than 10 minutes. I say ignored because it’s not because this place was cranking busy. I am understanding. In fact, one time in particular we were 2 of the only 3 people in there and it was almost comical how back we were being treated/ignored. My boyfriend actually stood up, waived his hand and said, «Sorry for the inconvenience, we will go somewhere else.» I was so irritated that all I could do was laugh. The server/bartenders have seen me(and my party), walked by, looked at me, taken a phone call, talked with friends, walked by again… you get the point. This is happened every time I have been there. I am NOT the gal who needs a drink in the first 60 seconds. However, an acknowledgment, or an, «I’ll be right with you», absolutely. As I said, I have gone back time and time again to meet friends and ultimately give this place a chance to change my mind and redeem themselves, but I remain disappointed and tell myself every time I leave… I’ll never be back. I hope the necessary changes are made, and this place does better. Bottom line, regardless of the«scene», the cool concept, and the beautiful girls who work there… call me old fashioned, but customer service is still what works for me. And this is definitely something missing from the picture.

Something here has changed over the past 2 years and it has NOT been for the better. The waitresses are great to look at(usually), so that’s a plus. It’s kind of like hooters except they have bikinis on, so the scenery is nice. But the past 5 or more times we have visited this place, the waitresses didn’t know a darn thing about the menu, specials, or drinks. Meaning on a day where wings were .25cents, the waitress forgot to tell the table until food was ordered and we noticed tons of wings being served, and asked what was up. She«forgot». There has been things on the menu that are left on the menu, that are no longer offered. Such as deserts. At least that’s what we were told. The food has gone downhill too. It’s not terrible, but it’s not worth the price. It’s a shame because the vibe is cool and the location is great. If the waitresses there would actually learn the menu like any other server, that one simple step would make going here a lot less painful. We have no desire to go back anytime soon. Hopefully the management gets their act together and starts to make their staff do their job. The only reason to go here(fellas) right now is for happy hour and good scenery, but don’t expect the scenery to know anything about the happy hour prices. –TGBJ

The perfect boy bar… beautiful ladies serve you while clad in bikinis, what more could you possibly want?! good food, decently poured drinks. A smaller sized bar with mostly laid-back clientele. A nice place to visit while having a casual beach day in Mission.

I bought a deal on one of those sites so I was able to get 40 dollars worth of food for 15. That’s a deal! Anyways, we visited on a busy night I’m guessing. The bar is tiny, so it was packed! We made it for their mardi gras special where they had a hosted bar for an hour. FREEDRINKS! Looove it! We had the ceviche, kobe beef sliders, and some fried shrimp dish from the mardi gras menu. The ceviche was delicious! There was so much seafood in it. The tater tots were so crispy too. Everything was so yummy! Our server was so attentive although the place was packed with people. By the end of the night, we had enough food and drink in our bellies, and I left the place satisfied. The price of the food could be pricey for bar food however. They have awesome drink specials everyday too!

I went back with some friends for Monday night football and wings. Kinda wish I didn’t. Here’s the greats and not so greats: Greats: — Busboy dude was a pretty funny and personable guy — Good crowd. Full, but not crowded Not-So-Greats: — The service could not have been slower. Well, maybe it could have been, but that would have been even more ridiculous. Getting beer was slow, then getting cups to drink the beer from was even slower. Food came out… well, better late than never — Wing selection is weak. Three flavors I believe. Do NOT get the teriyaki style. I know it’s hard to make the sauce stick, but I’d just take them off the menu. They might as well have called them«plain with some salt» — This is a personal preference, but the hot girls in bikini’s serving thing is old. It makes me almost not want to chat up my server, because she’s there on display in a place where everyone else is fully clothed. That’s just my opinion… we weren’t there for checking out the servers, we honestly came in to experience a different local for Monday Night Football Maybe I’ll go back to get a beer on the porch, but I won’t be eating there any time soon.

Sorry friends. Sneak joint was LAME! Yes, the girls look barely 21 and are in skimpy clothes. That is about the only attraction! I payed $ 15 for a pitcher of bud light.(see picture posted!)The music was bad and with so many other options in the area I would definitely skip the sneak joint.

«I thought this was a bikini bar.» «Well, the waitresses are wearing zip up hoodies over their bikinis tonight because it’s cold,» explained our hero to his misguided friend. «But still…» «Look buddy, this is a bikini bar, not a nipple bar.» Regardless of how much(or how little) the female servers and bartenders at Sneak Joint wear, their Monday and Sunday wing nights from 4PM to 10PM aren’t shabby. 25 cent wings? Not too bad for value. The quality could be better and the drumsticks are a bit small, but it’s still pretty cheap. They only have two varieties here: buffalo and teriyaki. Choose teriyaki if you prefer a crispier wing. The service isn’t bad, and it’s not as blatantly marketed on sexuality as Hooters, or the Tilted Kilt is. However, the service still makes good use of their assets when they casually bend forward to pour your drinks from the pitcher to the glass… S L O W L Y… No complaints there. PROS: — Super cheap wings for a quarter each on Sunday and Monday nights until 10PM. — A fair number of flat screen LCD TVs. — Service is fast and friendly. CONS: — No nearby parking. — Tight seating for groups for more than 4 or 5 people. — The margarita pitchers are cheap, but about half filled with ice. — They ding you an extra dollar for teriyaki sauce when you order teriyaki flavored wings.

If you are a male with erectile dysfunction, put away the Viagra and head to Sneak Joint. Hottest bar staff I’ve ever seen! My neck hurts from being here on a Sunday for football. I went back and forth from the games to the amazingly hot servers the whole time. They wear bikinis and look like they just stepped out of a swimsuit calendar, but are great in terms of service also. It’s easy to just skate by on being hot but, the girls here are sweet and very attentive as well. The bar itself is tiny, but has more charm than any other place in the PB/MB area, not to mention the drink specials galore. When I was taking a wiz I read about all of these hot deals on a poster in the restroom, and almost had a savings panic attack. If your Closter phobic it might not be for you but if you like hot chicas all up in your grill you have to try it. I didn’t eat, but my friend who did, said the wings were wingerific. They have a kick ass Sunday special, which includes a buffet and all you can drink bloody’s and mimosas for 25 bones. If you’re a Chicago sports fan don’t be fooled, because although they advertise being a Bear’s bar the Chargers audio is first priority on Sundays. No matter what I’m hearing, its hard to complain when you have gorgeous, sweet girls serving you cheap drinks while watching your team whoop some Seahawk butt! I think I’ve found a new place to drink and fantasize.

The last bar I visited before the fireworks and I didn’t want to leave! One of the 15 people I was with on the 4th recommended this place up, down, and sideways. So after drinking, flirting with chicks in PB, and eating all day the 8 of us ambled over to Sneak Joint. No cover, yes! We pounded 2 pitchers of Stone Pale Ale at the behest of host. The vibe here was crazy. Bumpin’ music, very, very, very laid back and mixed crowd, and bartenders dressed in bikins with very short shorts. Our waitress was a complete moron(we ordered 2 pitchers), but she was hot and that was more important to me. As a matter of fact all of the waitresses were hot, including one that I could not take my eyes off of. Damn. The host also prodded me to get the steak quesadilla as I was hungry as hell. Very good… or was it because I was hungry? Who gives a fuck? Then the real fun starts. In the corner, shirtless dude and barely dressed chick decided to bump and grind. It was like I was in a strip club without the poles and the DJ. Later, one of the bartenders jumps on the bar with a bottle of Grey Goose and decides to give anyone who approaches a shot. Crazy! They also have a outdoor area where one can smoke. I don’t smoke, but why can’t this be done in LA??? Note to self: You will become a dangerous person if you move to San Diego.
