Beautiful morning in San Diego. Prepared for a long wait at this Starbucks in the Marriott but was greatly surprised by the 3 women that worked the counter like they cared. Long line but was in and out in about 5 minutes with multiple coffees and pastries. Happy New year! Amazing team work — they need to train other locations

This is the absolute worst Starbucks I have ever been to. The line was crazy long. When ordering, I was informed they didn’t have a way to heat food. All of this was annoying, but tolerable. The death blow was after ordering $ 20 worth of drinks and snacks, I asked for a cup of ice water for my 9yo daughter and was informed that because of the drought on California, they aren’t allowed to serve drinking water. How is that even possible?! How does a restaurant/drink and dining establishment NOT serve a cup of water to a paying customer. I will never ever visit this Starbucks again. I’m furious.

Waking up early in this gloomy San Diego morning, I was hoping that after passing the group of unsmiling fellow guests in the lobby, this Starbucks location inside the hotel will brighten up my morning. There was no line whatsoever and two cashiers were attending to me. They said they only accept Gold Starbucks card that starts with 60. No problem. I normally don’t fuss about the price of my Starbucks items but yes, they have higher price. After I said«Thank you», I did not get any response from them and they just looked at me. Same with the one from the pick up counter. They also don’t give water so just buy one at The Exchange for $ 5~. I guess they are having a gloomy day as well as I was not impressed with service.

Couldn’t understand the barista. Terrible attitude. Got two oatmeals with away too much water. Horrible experience. I won’t be coming back. I usually really love Starbucks! So bummed!

We’ve been staying at this Marriott for at least the last 5 years. This year the management changed. Side note before the main complaint: Took a chance on the sandwich one year during Comic — Con, got sick. The drinks this year were never what we ordered no matter the time of day or the line. ALSO I order for my family. Rather than serve all the drinks to me at once my order is put into line with everyone else behind me as though they got there in front of me. So if my order were represented by letters I’d be ABCD. The person in front of me and the next group of people behind me I will represent with numbers. 1, 2, 3, then my order starts A, 4, B, 5, C, 6, D then everyone else behind me. As you can see, I have to wait 8 times as long not 4 times as long for ordering 4 cups. On a personal note, the manager looks thoroughly unconscionable, just his manner in how he carries himself. Never smiles, very stuff. He looks as unyielding, this is only undesirable. Our drinks are always too watery, too bitter, too sweet, not enough of one component and it throws off ALL the flavor. I never ask them to re make it because when I come I don’t have the time. I have meetings to get to and no time for regularly occurring errors. The SB in my neighborhood RAWKS! Why? They are not stingy with the whipped cream as this location is AND they have the chocolate whipped cream for the cookie crumble frap. Also it is bear impossible to stop MYSB from re making your drink if you bring up an error AND they are ALWAYS fast on the draw. SUCK it Marriott SB manager. You make bad bad bad employee decisions. Go do something you know how to do, being a dick and screwing customers out of their money at a place where folks expect it. The morning employees at the Marriott work in a bumbling manner. You can tell they are frustrated due to hardly knowing what they are doing. Again, BAD manager. Being that I’ve come here for so many years you can trust my opinion.

I came here to grab a hot chocolate for my wife and a Cookie Crumble Mocha Frappachino for myself. The price here is a lot more than a typical Starbucks because of the location, but thankfully as an Elite member at Marriot where this location is, I got 20% off which actually made it cheaper then most Starbucks. On this occasion I was one of the last customers for the day because for some reason, they were closing in the middle of the day. It was rather annoying that they didn’t bother to post any signs they were closing early, in fact their sign still said they were open until their normal closing hours. This proved to be a problem for me because someone accidentally took my drink and when they offered to make a new one, they forgot to put all the ingredients in it. I came back about 5 minutes later when I realized it wasn’t made right and when I pointed it out to them, they just basically said, opps, sorry, then gave me a blank stare like, go away now, we are closed. This probably isn’t typical for the quality that comes out of this location, but it was disappointing to be treated that way and I’d only come back again if it wasn’t before closing time.

This Starbucks does not honor free refills that are part of the Starbucks Rewards program because they are privately owned. They also ignore special requests such as easy-on-the-ice(or Light Ice in Starbucks lingo). They are also more expensive(about $ 1.50 more) than the nearby standard Starbucks on 4th and Market. If you are at the Marriott and in a rush, this is good enough. Otherwise I recommend the one on 4th and Market.

What to say? It’s a Starbucks. Yes, I’m a Starbucks whore. I like my overpriced coffee drinks consistent. I will say that I walked to this Starbucks from the Manchester Hyatt next door because the Hyatt doesn’t HAVE a Starbucks. I’m grateful that the winter weather in San Diego is quite pleasant in the morning, because I would’ve thought long and hard about making such a trek if I was in, say, Buffalo, NY. This location had staff that were still smiling despite the long line of convention-goers that spilled into the hallway. Kudos to them. Here’s a tip: If you’re walking from another hotel to get your SB fix, turn left once you enter the main lobby. Proceed straight ahead and follow your nose.

All the of the things you look for in a Starbucks. The barista’s can be a bit slow on occasion.

Located in the lobby of the Marriott this was the perfect spot to grab your favorite SB drink instead of one of the little kiosks in the convention center OR the Starbucks in the convention center either — the line will be insane at that one, a short walk to the Marriott which is connected to the convention center will save you waiting in that huge line and you get better service because the baristas aren’t convention employees who are tired of seeing people dressed as Super Heros.

This is the Starbucks located inside the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina Hotel — in the South Tower Lobby. Had a number of caffeinated beverages here over the course of a few days: mostly Grande coffees and triple shot iced lattes. Good coffee, good espresso, and drinks are cranked out quickly!
