This little neighborhood café has the best iced tea and it was just what I needed after a long hot walk around the hills and cliffs of Point Loma. Great location and friendly service. Shaded outdoor seating too.

Cute little neighborhood café with great organic coffee and good breakfasts. They have an outdoor patio just a few step east of the café which is not easily noticed. Prices are very reasonable.

I have been a patron of this coffee shop since it’s first owner. It’s very convienent for those living by the cliffs. I just can’t get past the aloofness of the girls that work there. It’s almost uncomfortable! I have never been greeted, they never engage. I’m not a fan of dropping your change on the counter and walking away. Service is slow. It’s just coffee and for nothing much on the block, I would ramp up the customer service. Hours are not conducive to those wanting an afternoon cup of Joe or something warm when checking the sunset. ITs worth the trip to Newport ave or instant coffee

Absolutely great shop. The baristas are great and friendly, and the coffee is sublime. If you get an iced coffee, make sure you get the coffee ice cubes(if they haven’t all been grabbed by previous customers yet!) The local artwork is great, and always makes me want to buy it. Overall a great little coffee shop!

Great little coffee shop. Their breakfast sandwiches are awesome. We ride our bikes here every weekend. We just saw note that they got sued by some hack for their lack of public bathroom. So rediculous that someone would be so heartless and evil file a legal suit against such a great small business working hard to do well. My wife and I would both recommend this shop to anyone.

Not impressed. Walked here Friday morning for a drink because it was close to the house I was staying in on vacation. Service was slow. I got an iced chai with sugar free vanilla and it was literally iced milk. Completely white in color. I couldn’t taste any chai what so ever. I had three sips and had the throw the rest away. A couple of the other girls tried it and agreed it tasted like pure milk. I would never return.

I go here a lot b/c I live so close. The iced coffee is great, so is the turkey and basil panini. Sometimes the service is great — staff is nice and friendly — and sometimes the girls that work there are very aloof and cold. I have a service dog — I tell them this every day, and they give me a ton of attitude about it — every time.

Cool, neighborhood coffee shop, that I’ve been visiting the past 15 years or so. Mellow vibe w/interesting local artwork. Friendly service, not always speedy, but take a seat, and relax for a moment. I love to stop in, often w/kids and pup(front and side patio is dog friendly), before a walk on Sunset Cliffs, which is always amazing. Java Beach has been here about 17 years; but changed ownership a year ago in 2014. Miss the last owner, Larry, and the service might be a bit slower, but still good coffee drinks, and few breakfast and lunch sandwiches/wraps. Coffee is now from Joshua Tree Coffee Co., which is organic and roasted in Joshua Tree. Worth a visit. NOTE: it’s located on Point Loma Ave at Ebers, not where the Unilocal pin is, about 11 blocks away.

Decent food, but pretty terrible service. Girl took our order, forgot to make half of it. No real reason to come back unless you live within a block. Nothing special and front counter girl may have amnesia.

The new ownership has turned me back into a fan, very friendly staff, great Joshua Tree espresso, and love the menu. Stopped in this morning and had the egg, chorizo… wrap…wow! Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

I have been coming to the former Java Beach for years when in town for amazing lattes and breakfast. Although warned by others it had recently changed hands that the coffee had greatly suffered I decided to try for myself this morning. Sometimes a new owner needs time. Wow… my latte was not only bad it was just not drinkable. The milk tasted of low quality and possibly non organic, the coffee… stunningly bad quality, not brewed properly and old tasting not to mention not a proper grind for a good coffee. Hardly any flavor. We got it to go so there was no time to bring it back and give them a chance to remake it. If the coffee is going to be this distasteful, it is not worth it for the rest of the menu. I hope they will improve this and bring the coffee back how it was.

This coffee shop has new owners and what a huge difference. I used to go here just to support a local business over the the large corporate coffee shops, but I had to stop. The coffee before was terrible, always had a burnt taste. Now I stop in whenever I’m nearby aprox. fours times a week. The coffee served is organic from Joshua Tree and it is great. The Ice Teas are just as good and anything here can easily be customized. I have also tried several of the Panini Sandwichs, yummy. Great service, great coffee, tea and food.

Formally know as «Java Beach,» the new owner. Neuy has registered the new business under Sunnie’s Java Beach Café, named after a dear family member. He has been busily remodeling and has recently acquired the help of a local artist and has since filled the walls with some great art works. I stopped in for some blood orange tea( ), and this time around, a serving of oatmeal mix with fruits and topped with fresh granola, berries, nuts, and honey( ). The oatmeal was perfectly cooked and with a touch of milk and topped with all the goodies, I was ready to dig in( ). The oatmeal had great flavor, especially with the added mangoes, berries, and nuts. I have to say, the addition of the honey, just took it over the the top( ). Great oatmeal. The blood orange tea was packed with flavor, and iced down, made it quite refreshing( ). The people who work here are very nice, including Neuy. They use Café Moto coffee grinds and others. They also provide baked goods, Acai bowls, and sandwiches.
