Awesome place to come have a great session. I stopped in lunch to check their lunch special, it was great. I ordered bulgogi and Star Wars roll which is my friend recommended. They tasted delicious and had a crisp exterior. They give me special on the house what call JJ special. Server Are very friendly and nice. Especially, Ray she is No.1

I am not surprised that my visit to the sushi spot across the street was going to turn out decent. We dipped out and cheated from our normal Grantville sushi joint to come here out of convenience and pure curiosity. This place was almost completely empty when we came the other evening. That’s a good and bad thing, but I took it as a good thing so that we did not have to wait for our food. We ended up sitting at the bar. The first thing that caught my eye was that their menu seemed pretty robust. They offer a good selection of 50% off sushi rolls, so you know I had to try at least one of the rolls. I also ordered their Bento Box with Beef Teriyaki. The Bento Box was a huge disappointment. The beef was not good and the teriyaki sauce was not sweet enough. The salad that came with the box was decent, but not great. The tempura was pretty good. What was really good was my accidental ordering of their Sweet Hawaiian Roll. That was delicious! I think what killed it for me though was the rice. It just seemed off. I think the quality was not as high as I’ve had at my other favorite sushi place. Service was good and they were very attentive! Parking is decent next to Macca’s, but beware when Costco gets nuts along with Ikea. Yikes! Maybe I’ll check this place out again, maybe I won’t. I’m not sure.

This is the place we always bring friends, family, and out of town guests. If you have a birthday person in the crowd let the staff know and they will give you a special surprise. some of my favorite are starwas roll and homeless roll and kuchi roll. I love soft tofu soup. There yellowtail and salmon are always fresh. Anyway there menu is a lot. The price are remarkable with a lot of half price items all the time. They will make you feel so good.

Clearly, an off night… The service was the worst I’ve had in a very long time… In fact, I can’t remember one this bad. Our server was more concerned about splitting tips among all of the workers, including passing cash across the sushi prep station to the chefs. Needless to say, I was mortified. As far as the food, it was just okay… Certainly not worth the $ 48. we spent. We should have went with out gut and left after I had to go get her to come take our order.

Excellent sushi and the price can’t be beat. The service is great and I always feel welcome when I come here. The sushi chefs take pride in what they do and it shows.

Very disappointed in this restaurant. Very slow service, had to wait a long time for everything, even to get water. The slow service could have been made up for if the food was good, but it wasn’t. The sushi was whatever, wasn’t the worst I had nor the best. The lunch portions were very small and not very good. Won’t be coming back here.

If you want a great vibe, great people and awesome sushi for a stupid low price, come here. It’s seriously a great crew they have here. Try the Lips Special Roll, the Crispy Rice and the Star Wars roll! They have in excess of 6 people working the floor to clear and grab drinks, chill chefs at the bar that craft your rolls better than the pictures and it’s always a good time! Get here!

To earn a five star rating as a sushi place, you need to have the quality(fresh fish), portions(generous!) and price(reasonable). Sushi Kuchi has it, and I wish I’d known about it sooner. I just had the freshest fish I’ve had in weeks, in the form of a large special roll, unagi hand roll, salmon nigiri, and miso soup for $ 17! I debated knocking a star for service, although they were fast in the beginning, and very responsive. There was a bit of a lag when it came to paying the check.(The lunch crowd came flooding in right then, so I will allow for that). I definitely recommend the salmon and the unagi here. I ordered a roll called the Pink roll, which had spicy tuna inside and salmon/avo outside. It was delish, and also 50% off! In fact, all of their rolls were. I was like a kid in a sushi candy store looking at the menu when I found out. I got the unagi avocado hand roll for $ 4(amazing eel!) and the salmon nigiri for $ 3.50. Generous cuts of fresh salmon and a little spicy pickle thing on top. So Yumm! I can’t wait to bring DH. .If only I can keep him away from the Katsu and focused on the fish.

Fun little sushi place. Great rolls and fair prices. The spicy edamame were to die for. Try the tiger roll.

The sushi rolls are delicious and every item on the top section of the menu is 50% off. We like the spicy rolls a lot but the Sweet Hawaiian Roll knocked our socks off. The lips special roll and the bad boy roll are very good. We’ve tried the white boy roll and several others. We are never disappointed. The Bento Boxes are large and filled with goodness. Try the Bulgogi Bento Box. We eat here at least once every 10 days. The service is excellent!

Yes I’m a sucker for deals and that’s the only reason for a four stars. But wait there’s more, I’m also a sucker for no wait. So with those two hand in hand I’m sold. Came here three times already. My first time, the roll was a bit fishy. That’s always a no no in my book, however the roll only cost less than $ 7, so I do what most people do, I dipped it in soy sauce and used wasabi, can’t taste the fishiness at all, luckily because it was not that bad to begin with. The rolls are huge and filling. Second and third time, most things were on point except for my lack of scallop in one of my rolls. In terms of taste it definitely tasted fresher than my first experience. I’m just glad I kept coming back to make sure there is some consistency to this place. Place is small but the service seems to be just alright. I got exceptional service each time, but I have noticed tables constantly having to ask for stuff. Just be aware sometimes there’s a long wait time for the rolls. If you’re in the area and not picky I think this is the place to go to for something satisfying but not pricey.

went here for dinner on a Saturday evening, there were several tables occupied, but we were about to be seated right away. service was friendly and attentive, they checked up on us throughout our time there. the food… yakisoba– lots of noodles, a decent flavor. but I wasn’t too fond of all the bell peppers, it was a lot. which may be just a personal preference. fried gyoza– good flavor, cooked well. sesame chicken– subtle flavor, there wasn’t a whole lot of the sesame sauce. and it was actually a bit tough. veggie tempura– tasted good. the veggies were cooked just enough to not be raw and hard inside, but still with a good bite. the dipping sauce had nice flavor. hubby ordered some rolls. theyre not traditional Japanese rolls, but he enjoyed it. not really a huge fan of their ice cream macaron sandwiches. I been to several places that seem to offer this brand. the macaron itself lacks the chewy texture that makes a macaron so enjoyable. it was actually quite dry and crumbly. cool décor. clean. friendly staff. good size parking lot. the food was okay. the hubby probably enjoyed his sushi rolls more than I enjoyed the rest of the I sampled.

Nice going, guys. The hostess misheard me over the phone and my order got screwed up with one out of the two rolls I ordered. My problem is solely with what the chef did when I came back. As I was waiting for my roll to be made in exchange for the roll I didn’t want, the bag containing the order that was given to me was taken off the hostess stand. After seriously, two minutes, the server told me not to worry about the price difference or the screw up roll. My roll that I originally ordered comes up to the pass and goes into a separate container and into my original to go bag. As I’m about to leave, the chef asks for the screw up roll back. Like I said, fine, I gave them the to go order back because it wasn’t what I ordered. Here is where I see the issue: the chef pulls the incorrect roll out of the to go container, puts it on a plate ANDPUTSITINTHEPASS. Now, I know I didn’t open the container because I knew instantly that’s not what I ordered. But you as the consumer don’t know that; you DONOTEVER serve food that has left the facility and come back as a rejection. If that’s not what he meant and gave it to the employees, that’s still violating food service laws. To add insult to injury, the roll that they made for me that was what I originally ordered is a pity roll that looks like he was angry that I came back. I’ve attached a picture, even though it all went straight in the trash after what I saw. Unacceptable.

This restaurant is a favorite of my nephew’s and his wife. So of course, when we visited them during our vacation, this is one of the places they wanted us to experience. We were greeted warmly by the wait staff as they seated us at a large table in the doorway to the dog friendly patio area. Huge mugs of tea were served as we studied the menu. There was a lot of options on the menu, and I found myself unsure as to what to order, since I prefer my sushi vegetarian style or the seafood cooked. We left most of the ordering up to my nephew and soon realized that they must be regulars here after they ordered quite a few dishes for all of us to share. I got the veggie roll which contained carrots, potatoes & onions cooked Tempura style. The rest of our party got a huge feast of various Japanese specialties. Our table included: Scallion & Yellow Tail tuna rolls, Mango Rolls, Spicy Tuna rolls, The Star Wars rolls, and bowls of Carpacchio. Everyone enjoyed their food immensely! Fortunately even after eating all that food, we had just enough room to have dessert! We all agreed on having Macaron ice cream sandwiches which was kept in a small freezer close to where we were eating. There were 3 flavors to choose from: Green Tea, cappuccino, and mango. That’s when we decided, what the heck! They’re small enough that we can have one of each flavor! A perfect ending to a delicious meal! This restaurant was a very nice last family dinner together on our last evening of vacation in San Diego. We all had a great time here, and I felt sad that it was time to leave, but at least we have good memories to take with us…

I can’t help but love this place if only because of the name. I might be a 12 year old boy. Sorry, not sorry. But as far as food goes, they are worth the extra trek from the office over the few more americanized sushi places in Allied Gardens. Kazumi is certainly my favorite but when you head out in a group and a «cali roll» is «too much fish» for some in your group, you’ll need more than Kazumi’s offers. And Kuchi has it. Bento boxes(sans fish) are great for breaking in people that haven’t grown up with sushi. Here have some teriyaki while I devour all the fish I can fit in my mouth. I like that in addition to a huge list of rolls they offer nicely sized sashimi and poke salads. I love rice, but rice doesn’t love my blood sugar so it’s great to get some greens along with some fairly priced fish and feel satisfied at the end. I also can’t get enough of their garlic edamame. The crispy garlic(also found a top their poke salad) makes my stomach growl. Coincidentally, I haven’t seen a vampire for weeks. kuchi. kuchi. you know you wanna.

Sushi Kuchi… kuchi kuchie koo. I couldn’t but help but say this over and over and over! This little cutsey japanese-americanized-koreanish restaurant is tucked by the COSTCO gasoline area of Mission Valley. There is plenty of parking. Big red lips poster right when you walk in smack in the back wall by the sushi bar. That gives it the American feel. Sushi on the menu is permanently marked 50% off. Ordered the Cali roll + crunch for $ 4.00 after«half off», and the fried gyoza. I liked the Cali roll a lot and the crunch was awesome. Crab was the mixed kind with mayo(not crab sticks). Fried gyoza. nothing to rave about but nothing bad either. You can tell the salmon wasn’t as fresh as it could be due to the color and lack of lines. Salmon Skin hand roll was okay, and non-traditional…it was deep fried with lots of crunchies. Service was quick and friendly. If I was in the area and hungry, I would definitely come back again, but nothing to make reservations for.

We are frequent flyers at the Carlsbad location and we were excited to check out the new location in Mission Valley. The chefs told us they’ve been open for about 4 months at location. We ordered two of our favorite rolls the Sweet Hawaiian and Bad Boy roll. I was worried the rolls wouldn’t taste the same but I think it tasted better. The flavor was amazing and they didn’t over do it with the ponzu sauce. The service was really great and the chefs were super quick. We usually sit at the bar so I’m not sure if that makes a difference when it comes to service times. Prices are decent and most of the rolls are 50% off. This location is also larger and they have an outdoor seating area. The colors and artwork work well in the space. This place always cures my sushi itch. I’ll be a repeat customer at this location.

This Sushi Kuchi use to be located in the Fashion Valley Mall where Blue Smoke is at now. I came in for lunch and ordered their Maki lunch special for $ 9.95 and an order of fried calamari for a respectable price of $ 4.95. The Maki Lunch special came with half a California roll, half of spicy tuna roll, salmon roll, and one tuna and shrimp sushi. It seemed like an impressive list, but given they were half rolls and sushi, for me at $ 9.95, it was not a filling lunch, hence the reason I ordered the fried calamari. I felt the Maki Lunch would be better priced at $ 8.95. Oh yes, the Maki Lunch special also came with miso soup. Anyways, the cut rolls were pretty good. The salmon roll was the best given it had the rich smooth salmon, avocado, and crunchy cucumbers for added texture. The California cut roll was a little on the mushy side, but tasted good, and the spicy tuna roll needed more heat. I would of rather of had all the cut rolls on this plate to have been the salmon roll. The single tuna roll was very good and the shrimp roll very light in flavor but good. The fried calamari was very good and they got the frying just right. The panko breading was crispy and a nice color. The calamari inside was tender and had a pleasant semi-sweet flavor. I was quite impressed in how tender the meat was, however, a nice sprinkling of coarse salt on the panko after frying would of been good. With my meal, I had a iced green tea, which was good, and the service was pretty good. The lunch specials range from $ 7.95 to $ 14.95. I can help think, they could do better with these deals. 3.5 Stars…
