I brought my best friend here after our sunset cruise captain recommended it. I felt terrible«cheating» on my go to sushi joint, but Sushiya was awesome! The rolls were fresh, the service spectacular and the prices unbeatable! I’ll be back!

While on training in Point Loma, I needed a «Spot» that I could go to for lunch everyday. That«spot» was Sushiya. Believe me when I say, I have a WEAKNESS for sushi! I went to Sushiya with the recommendation of a co-worker. We went nearly every day between 24 Jan to 5 Feb. I usually had the Miso Salmon with a double salad no rice(I’m on a diet). This salmon is cooked to perfection… I even dreamt about it a few times. I also had the Ototo Roll, it’s riceless, wrapped in cucumber and has Ahi, Salmon and Yellowtail in it. So darn good. The lunch specials for $ 8.95 came in a bento box with a different entrée each day and includes miso soup, salad, rice, and tempura. Great place. I am a fan!

Sushiya is great! The spicy mayo is delicious and they don’t skimp out if you ask for some. My friend ordered the Chuck and that’s his favorite. The Crunchy Dragon is good too! Edgar is a great server! Very attentive and friendly! Sometimes there can be a bit of a wait, but definitely worth coming to try.

This Sushiya is located in a corner next to Issara Thai, it’s not too hidden but If you’re not familiar with the area it’s also behind Starbucks that’s what you will see first so you would have to drive towards the back to get to the shop and parking area. Also, the best part about this sushi spot is its less than 5min from my home! Parking is 50⁄50 depending on the time and day as usual. Weekdays are the days that have plenty of parking. I usually get the Crunchy Dragon, and garlic edemame! The dynamite scallop is also one of my favs! It’s the closest thing that tastes like the sushi I used to get in Hawai’i. My husband gets ‘Chuck’, gyoza, and their hot green tea. Their green tea is really good especially if you love wild rice green tea, this is what they serve! We also always ask for spicy mayo on the side, forget the wasabi! We love to dip our sushi in that bowl of magic! Their customer service has been really good for US, we never got dissatisfied or if the service was slow. Everything was in a timely matter too. Minus one star for me is the prices, It isnt too expensive and I would love to come here everyday if my wallet didn’t cry every time I used it here. I consider this place a high end budget for Me personally, but I usually order one roll anyway because their portion sizes are big and I eat half and then take the other half home. Depending on my hunger scale anyway. It’s worth checking out! I enjoy my time and food here.

Great sushi no questions… But really, if you’re going to offer an online order option for delivery or pickup ya’ll might want to actually look at the orders Their website directs to an app called Eat24, which I’ve used numerous times while traveling, to order pickup and I waited the 30 min as indicated. App notified me the order was ready, but when I walked in they hadn’t even started making it. Waited another 25min… Don’t order online from them… eat in if your ready to wait!

Our favorite sushi place closed down and I was in search of a replacement and I think I found a winner! From the outside it just looks like a normal sushi joint, but the food is wonderful! They have everything from classic rolls, specialty rolls, chicken entrees and ramen for non-sushi lovers– it’s got everything! The best part is the price! You can’t get this fresh of fish at this price anywhere! Tips on Food: –Pokie: a little spicy but the roasted sesame seeds on top are an amazing compliment –Ototo: by far the best and most fresh roll ever! All you can taste is the quality of fresh and delicious fish –Garlic Edamame: If you are planning on kissing anyone make sure they have some too but totally worth the garlic breathe– so much roasted garlic!!!

Never disappointed whenever I come here! The customer service is amazing, special rolls always taste fresh, nigiri has a generous slice of fish, the miso soup isn’t too salty and has a good amount of tofu and seaweed, AND they offer free green tea ice cream per every Unilocal review! Haha.

This place is cooler than the other side of the pillow. The sushi selection is straight fire. If you’re feeling like a rebel go for the spicy Ramen. Don’t even get me started on the smooth jams up in there. Grab a beer and vibe to that shit. If you’re up on good karma you’ll get Edgar serving the cuisine. He’ll take care of you, f’get about it.

So I have an intolerance to avocado which is pretty much on like every sushi roll that I like. I get really sick when I have any trace amount of it. So they give you a menu and you pencil in what you want. At the top I put in big letters NOAVOCADO. When I got my roll, you can definitely say I was disappointed when I started eating and noticed a soft green/yellow substance around the roll. Looks like they made the roll with the avocado but the scraped it off. I don’t like being THATPERSON so I just dealt with it but I did not finish the roll. I had to order something else. Overall this place was just not satisfying to me. The smoked salmon nigiri was delicious though. EDIT: I ordered gyoza which has still not come to me 20 minutes later(pretty sure they forgot) and now that I want the check, I can’t seem to find a waitress. Overall, I’ve had a pretty bad experience here. Will not be coming back. My review just went from a three star to one star.

Glad we went! First time. We had the Kamikaze Fries(great seasoning and spicy mayo dipping sauce), Kalbi Ribs(amazing flavor but a tad on the chewy fatty side), calamari, Crunchy Roll, Scallop Dynamite Roll(my favorite!), some sort of spicy tuna roll, and green tea ice cream. Everything that was supposed to be hot was hot and delicious. Service was pleasant, restaurant was clean and though only seats 67, I believe, didn’t feel cramped. There was a diverse crowd there on a Tuesday night: after-work young professionals, families, military, hipsters, older couples. Parking was no problem. Prices were reasonable. Will return for another visit!

This was my first time here from out of town and it was delicious. Sushiya was awesome, nice ambiance right when you walk in. Trendy music playing, sports games on the television and cool wall décor. Didn’t have to wait for a table and the place was very clean. Service was great. We had a list to fill out for our order and the server still inquired if we liked anything else and we did. Mitch was very helpful with the menu and answered all our questions with delight. Very amicable guy. Always checked on us making sure we had everything we needed/wanted and was happy to get us our requested additional sauces and utensils. Other staff were helpful as well as they bussed the tables for us as soon as one of our many plates were done, all while making sure we didn’t feel rushed. Overall excellent service at Sushiya. The food was phenomenal! The definitely out did its self as I was expecting low quality sushi for the prices listed. It was quite the opposite. I had the sashimi salad which was refreshing yet filling. Not over dressed like most salads, not to mention the tangy zestful taste of it. The sashimi was very good, tasted fresh and melted in my mouth. I highly recommend the sashimi salad. I also tried one the baked scallop rolls which was pretty good as well if you like rolls with a lot of sauce. The friends I was with really enjoyed the Murica, I however was unable to try because of how full and satisfied I was with the sashimi salad.

Two of us had a wonderful, multi-course meal for under $ 100 in this small, modern restaurant near the harbor. We had the following, all of which were wonderful: miso soup(perfectly seasoned), seaweed salad, Chef’s choice sashimi platter(see photo), eel hand roll, unfiltered Nigori sake & mochi ice cream(green tea & mango). Only minor detail is that we had to ask for more wasabi as the size with the large platter was small for our taste. BRINGONTHEBURN1 Service was excellent — attentive, but not rushed or intrusive.

We stumbled on to Sushiya when we dined next door at the Thai restaurant the night before. They also have a outside patio that would allow our dog. The place is busy with customers coming and going. We ordered the following items: Salmon Skin Hand Roll Spicy Tuna Hand Roll Unagi Hand Roll Salmon Poke Nabeyaki Udon All of the fish items were good and made to my wife’s liking. The Nabeyaki Udon on the other hand was not good. Nabeyaki should be a dashi based soup but the soup base was soy sauce, very salty. The toppings consisted of grilled chicken, a couple of pieces of fish cake, seaweed, and Udon noodles. 2 pieces of tempura shrimp on the side. Service was excellent. Plenty of parking. very reasonable prices.

I typically frequent the Otay Ranch location, but occasionally go to this location. Been here three times and have had super duper service. The waiters are always on point in customer service and friendliness. Then sushi rolls aren’t half off like the otay ranch location, but their entrees are wayyy cheaper. I usually get the Kalbi ribs and instead of $ 14, it’s $ 11 at this location. Hubby got the salmon teriyaki entrée and it’s only $ 9! Pretty good prices and portions for dinner. From looking at the menu, they have awesome lunch specials on a daily. A different menu item that they feature for different days of the week. finally found a quality, delicious sushi joint close by that offers reasonable pricing & a wide variety including Ramens and other entrees. The atmosphere is comfortable, relaxing & clean. I sat at the sushi bar and was able to watch the chefs at work. Although they were quite busy, my sushi cAme out very quickly which was a pleasant surprise. I tried the crunchy dragon and chuck rolls and although they were both amazing, they were very similar which I didn’t realize I had done lol. Next time I will try to get a little more variety. The servers were very helpful never letting my water glass get to empty and they were quick in dropping my check and taking payment. I definitely want to come check out happy hour and receive my free Unilocal green tea ice cream :)

What a great experience! Best meal while on our trip and unbeknownst to us, right by our hotel(Homewood Suites-Airport/Liberty Square). Our server, Maria, was the greatest server we have had in quite some time. Friendly, attentive and just the right touch of humor. She even offered little extras we hadn’t thought of, like sides of eel and spicy mayo sauce to go with our sushi(free of charge). The cost was pretty low as well! Our food and my «Take Me Home Tonight» drink were delish, food was hot and had super fresh ingredients. My drink was a special with strawberry, mango and sake. It was great! We ordered chicken terriyaki with rice for our little man. He(and we) thought the white meat chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly with a great sauce. Our veggie tempura with special sauce was some of the best I have had, cooked and breaded perfectly with sweet potato, squash, carrot, and broccoli. The Chuck roll was great and the freshest fish(tuna) we have ever had on sushi. Great combination of flavors and textures. Same thing with the crunchy and snow crab rolls. Awesome! I didn’t take pics of the sushi because so many have already done that but it was great… albeit took quite some time to get the sushi. Perhaps they were just pacing our dishes to arrive at different times? Lastly, we ended with the tempura ice cream which was a tempura ball filled with vanilla ice cream and cut open into wedges and topped with chocolate and strawberry sauce. Perfect amount of crunch and sweetness. We will definitely be back when in the area.

Great budget sushi spot! It’s kind of like Sushi Deli quality but a bit better, with no wait. We had no wait over the weekend on a Sunday evening, and the place was packed. The rolls are on the small size but very well priced. They used to be like $ 12-$ 15 with a gimmicky 50% off deal everyday, but now they just put the actual reduced prices on the menu. The rainbow roll was $ 7.50 and well worth it. The Alaskan roll for $ 5.50 was tiny and not so much. Definitely go with the so-called specialty rolls as they are larger, heartier and priced just a dollar or two over the regular cut rolls which are super tiny. The chicken karaage, Danimal’s favorite thing here, is only like $ 4 and pretty darn good with plenty of big pieces of meat. He said it’s like only $ 2.50 during happy hour. Tip: Many people stay away from the parking spots right in front as they have a green curb, but don’t be fooled that they are short-term parking — they are marked 90 minutes!
