It’s hard to comprehend when you entrust your dining experience to Unilocal reviews and then you visit a place that’s 4 ½ stars and raved about and it turns out to be not a 4 ½ star time. Tap and press I had better expectations. So I came here for a city beat beer club event and well for an event that’s notorious to bring in waves of people you should be well equipped with staff, food, and well and just be prepared. They weren’t at this visit and well if you are a new restaurant that’s understandable but they weren’t. Yes they were nice people but overall nice won’t get you five stars. The biggest bummer wasn’t the food. It was the delivery of the food. My party possibly waited 45 minutes to an hour that night as they said yours is next, but they had given our order to other people. How can that happen if we have our number on the table? So other people got free food? Luckily we had entertained ourselves waiting and enjoying beer while giving them the benefit of the doubt that hey probably making those waffles to perfection needed time. But no. Now the food — I had the hotty sandwich on waffles and it was just okay. For a pull pork sandwich you expect favor, for it to be meaty, succulent, smoky, and have barbecue sauce. But the pork was dry and bland. A bit boring actually. The waffles too were okay. Nothing spectacular that makes it stand out from boxed waffles you make at home.

Awesome waffle sandwiches here! Great mimosas and the beer selection was neat too. Something for everyone loved the cilantro slaw on the sandwich too!

Good beer selection, 3 tvs with football on Sunday, partially sunny patio, and the entire bar is dog friendly! Need to try the food next time.

Talk about right place right time. My friends and I were out celebrating PRIDE and had a wonderful time eating, drinking, and dancing. Now, we needed a few more drinks, some snacks, and to chill. Boom. We found the perfect place! We had some delicious fries, some sandwiches, and some really good beers. We also had a few of the Jell-O shots they made which were very good, reasonably priced, and very festive for the occasion! We played cards against humanity, shuffleboard, and enjoyed a nice break from the craziness. The food was yummy and the atmosphere was perfect. We will definitely go back!

Good craft beer selection, decent prices and good waffle sandwiches. I had the gobbler. The deli meat was standard but the great waffle, fresh veggies and cheese made up for it.

Waffle sandwiches are the«gimmick» The physical size of the restaurant is not that large and when it gets busy, the line to order food and beverages can get quite long. You MUST order at the bar, since there is no table service. After ordering at the bar, you usually get your beverage right away and your food is delivered to your table sometime thereafter. Their sandwich selection was adequate, but nothing to rave about. I do not consider their sandwiches to be gourmet creations. Unfortunately, I yielded to both peer pressure and marketing hype and ordered a waffle sandwich. That said, I quickly realized that I do NOT like waffle sandwiches. I regret not ordering my sandwich as a panini — I should have trusted my initial gut instinct. The waffle is comparable to ordering a sandwich with additional, extra-thick bread. In my opinion, it detracts from the taste of the sandwich contents and reminds me of the circa 1980’s Wendy’s «where’s the beef?» slogan/commercial that quickly brought to the forefront of the marketplace that many sandwiches of the day were mostly bun and no content. I found their draft beer menu to also be adequate, but nothing special. They seem to try to offer a little bit of everything to accommodate everyone. They had one porter on tap that worked for me. I found their food and beverages to be reasonably priced and their happy hour specials to be okay, but not significant enough to rush there for. It’s more important to rush and get there early in order to beat the crowd and to find parking someplace in the surrounding area, since parking is non-existent. There are large tables available to accommodate larger parties and there is a front patio area that is quite noisy, since it overlooks busy University Avenue. Despite the restaurant being self-service for all practical purposes, the staff still seemed to be friendly and personable.

Great beer list, great people. Seems like more of a north park vibe than hillcrest. Beer selection covers the whole spectrum from sours to ipas to session beers, some Belgian stuff I havent seen anywhere else. Bartenders are super friendly and eager to provide samples of you want to try something. I had a Gruyère waffle that was tasty, but I come here just for beer culture.

This place is awesome for Trivia Night every Thursday at 8pm! We’ve been going here to play all the time and the owner is friendly and totally cool, and the staff is cool. Always a drink special going on too, so that’s nice. Perfect for our group of 6 – 10 to get together and hang out. They have a great selection of local beers on tap. Bought a bottle of champagne here the other the night and the owner, Rachel, came by and hooked us up with some kickass mango juice to make mimosas, totally cool! Good people watching here too. Prices are reasonable. Ran out of the horchata beer I wanted to try but was given a chocolate stout that I sampled that was awwweeesome! The bartenders definitely know their beers.

A spot built more for socializing in larger groups Tap and Press has an awesome beer list that pretty much shatters other places in the area. They have sours, local beer, and IPAs that will put hair on your chest. I mean… Well you know what I mean. I am a boring veggie so my waffle Sammy was a bit boring. I liked I could get some syrup action going but it didn’t really wow my taste buds much. Oh well, beer. Lots off it and the good stuff. The type of stuff you hide when you have a party should a curious guest find it, Great for groups!

Pretty honest little spot. Big beer list(Tap) and a variety of waffles(Press). Draft menu was awesome. Lots of local flavors, and a few unique things that you probably won’t find at another bar in this neighborhood. Lots of waffle choices in both sweet and savory varieties. Came in on a Friday night, and it wasn’t too busy. We were able to get a table and service easily. They don’t seem like they wait on tables. Food and drinks are ordered at the bar.

After waiting 20 minutes for waffles, we finally approached the bartenders and were told that it would be another 20 minutes for them to make the batter. How can you claim to be a waffle and beer place when there doesn’t seem to be any batter ready? One of my friends was never serviced after 15 minutes of waiting. He was told he would be next but the bartender took 3 more orders before my friend even could voice what he wanted. He ended up not ordering anything out of sheer frustration. Overall, what could have been an enjoyable night ended up in disappointment.

This place is chill! I came here last week and the both bartenders that were working were suuuuper nice and welcoming! While I don’t remember the guys name that helped us out, he was extremely helpful. He let us sample beers so I could figure out what I was«feeling» that day. The music was good, too! And I also enjoy that they offer board games to play at your table while you eat and drink! Feel good hip hop songs, good beer, waffles, and some board games?! WHYNOT?! There are two reasons why I can’t give this place the full 5 stars, though. My guy friend was really hoping for fried chicken and waffles… and I thought, if this is a waffle place… why WOULDNT they have that??! They don’t. And then my first choices were all not really available. Even though my beer and food was delicious, I wanted a specific beer on the menu but it was out, and I wanted a sweet waffle, but they didn’t have any fruit. I get the owner was sick and couldn’t make the delivery, which is cool… but maybe this will give me a reason to go back!

Alright so I love the concept of this place and the décor and set up were great. Bartender was super nice, but there are some execution issues that I had concerns with. However I really hope it works out for this place, so I’m still gonna give them 4 stars. So I guess they are in their process of changing around their menu a little bit, which I think is a good idea bc they at least need fries! But because of this, they didn’t have some of the stuff listed. Additionally, they just didn’t have a lot of the ingredients like greens which would have been a huge disappointment if I wanted a salad. Anyway I also overheard they were out of a lot of beers. On one hand, I get it, it’s a new business starting out, they maybe can’t afford to keep everything stocked. But maybe they should just start with a real simple menu then and perfect those items. They only had one bartender/cook working, and I felt super bad for him bc making waffles takes kind of a while. So anyway, our food took forever, but it wasn’t his fault, he was rushing as much as possible. Food was good, but personally I think an open faced sandwich would have been a better ratio of ingredients– that might just be me. But still was a really good combo of sweet and savory for the savory waffles(I got the Gobbler, bf got the Castro). We also split the chocolate strawberry banana thing for dessert which was good but I wish had more chocolate on it. All in all I liked the place and would definitely recommend someone to go try it. I’m curious to see how everything pans out for them.

We had high hopes for this place after finding it on Unilocal. However, after realizing that they don’t have anything we wanted… Although quite reasonably priced, the experience was just okay. My friend and I stopped by for Happy Hour one day and it was great to find out that their HH meant it’d be $ 2 off all draft drinks. They had a wide selection and I LOVED my pear ale. I hate«poppy — whateverthatmeans» drinks and the pear ale was perfect for my non-beer drinking tastebuds. We had to order our food at the bar which was fine b/c it was super early and there were only 3 other patrons at the place. However, when we asked if the quinoa salad comes with the sandwiches, we were told that they no longer make those!(i mean, the quinoa salad was the reason we went there) That said, it was fine, we weren’t going to ruin our meal over some quinoa salad. SO we went ahead and ordered one arugula salad to share and two panini(gobble gobble, and spicy chicken sausage). *Instead of waffles, you can order them as panini. We sat ourselves on the bench/bar near the entrance and looked out at the street. I really liked this setup but could not stand the stickiness of the table. To top it off, 10 minutes after sitting there waiting for our food, we were told that they ran out of arugula. BUM-MER! The sandwiches were really good, but I just really cannot get over the stickiness of the table. sad face.

Craft beer and. waffles?! Is it just me or is that completely random? But it works. Its like an adult candy store. With sweet and savory foods washed down with alcohol. I came here on a Saturday evening to have a drink with a few friends. The place was fairly crowded. We all went to order our drinks and our jaws slowly dropped looking at all the different types of beers. Flavored beer, beers with nitro, local beers, and beers you can add ice cream to. After 5 minutes(literally it took that long) we all kind of chose one. We didn’t order any waffles this time but the smell filled the room and enticed us. We will definitely have to try next time. We sat outside on the window bar. The seats connected to the bar were uncomfortable, luckily there were metal stools. Another group was playing with the huge Janga blocks right next to us. Warning– when they fall it sounds like a car crash! Scared the crap out of me! Great place to grab drinks and dessert after a stool in Hillcrest or a great dinner.

Great quality sandwiches, beer, wine and an awesome location! Does not get much better than that! I love the feel this little spot offers. The owner and the bartender were very enthusiastic and you can tell they are excited to be in the neighborhood. My favorites so far: The Mojo pork with a cubano flare, the hot pastrami sandwich and the Eggplant sandwich which had buratta cheese and anything with buratta cheese is BOMB! I wasn’t feeling like one of the great beer options so I chose the $ 5.00 house special red wine and it was perfect! Can’t wait to go back for more, I haven’t quite made it thru the rest of the menu but I will!

You can tap a great beer and even more better, eat a great Panini pressed gourmet sandwich from this place. I stopped in for dinner and ordered the Pilsner they had on tap and the #7 sandwich at the time which reminded me of an Italian style sandwich with Mortadella, Black Forest Ham, Sopressata, Provolone Cheese, and pickled peppers, and heirloom tomatoes for $ 9. I had the Panini with a side of quinoa, arugula, and white bean salad( ). The panini was beyond excellent, from the different layers of flavors via the three layers of deli meats, and texture the pressed piping hot sourdough bread provided, to the mild pickled peppers that added a hint of sourness, this sandwich had it going on( ). The heirloom tomatoes were freshly sliced and mild sweet acidity played well with the fatty deli meats( ). I had the sandwich without mayo but with plenty of mustard. A great pressed sandwich. The quinoa, arugula, and white bean salad was very good as well and looked nice too( ). The quinoa was nicely cooked to an al dente, the arugula added a nice aromatic appeal, and the white were just perfect for this salad. In fact, they were my favorite thing in the salad, even though they were a accompaniment( ). I could of eaten a whole bowl of this salad. This is a great place to tap a couple of great beers and munch on a terrific sandwich created with a creative mind.

Who doesn’t love craft beer and sandwiches? It’s the perfect combo! This is a fairly new place, they are still making a few tweaks here and there. They have a great variety of craft beers on tap from local breweries and from other places too(ex. St. Louis Framboise Lambic, Allagash, Green Flash, Mother Earth, Pizza Port, The Lost Abbey, Mike Hess etc etc) They also carry beers on bottles. I would say it’s a very extensive variety of beer :-) The sandwich menu is supposed to change every day or every other day. It’s a concept that is still in the works. I had a couple of beers on tap and the Turkey sandwich which was delightful. My bread had figs in it which made it exquisite! The sandwiches come with a side of chips. As soon as you walk in you can smell wonderful fresh wood, from the tables and chairs that give this place character. It’s operated by the owners, who take great pride in what they do. I’m not sure about the closing time on this place but I know opening hours are at 5pm Also I’m sorry I don’t remember the exact price range on the beer, because the Husband paid. All I know for sure is that I’m excited about coming back and trying more beers and sandwiches.
