Great coffee – usually bold and full bodied. Decent assortment of pastries and reliable service. Nice seating area on Broadway in front of the store but expect to be accosted by beggars.

Another great experience at CBTL. As long as I can find a CBTL I will never drink Starbucks again. Stopped in after lunch for a vanilla latte and its deeelish. Sit outside its great for people watching.

Nice clean location. Staff is always friendly and professional. Definitely a more crowded local since its downtown, but the staff is pretty quick with your order.

Way better than the Industrialized siren’s coffee. My favorite is coffee with hazelnut and the ice blended mocha. Great customer service.

For a coffee shop, this chain has decent food. A plus is that much of it is kosher! Just something to keep in mind for your practicing Jewish friends. The frozen drinks are a little too sweet for my taste but seem to be in line with the modern American palette. I like the macha green tea because they can make it with soy only. Most places, like Starbucks, have only premade mixes, so if you’re lactose intolerant you’re out of luck. I’m not a coffee drinker, so I can’t comment much on that, but the tea leaves something to be desired. It’s all very fruity. If you’re looking for a traditional Assam or oolong, you should go to specialty’s across the street. This is also a decent place to work if you’re coming on from out of town. The outdoor seating is also a plus, but it’s often loud because you’re right on Broadway, which is a main thoroughfare downtown.

In San Diego for a few days and staying just a block away from the Coffee Bean. I am admittedly a coffee snob and a purist. I drink my coffee black and has to be a nice bold dark roast for me to be happy. The people are very nice and prices on par with Starbucks. The comparison ends there. The coffee is weak and a step up from Folgers. Not impressed. I bought a chocolate croissant that looked good. The bag said it was made from scratch and baked daily. I’m thinking it is not necessarily served the same day — mine was probably from last week. Definitely not impressed. The people were nice though…

Had a few friends posted up at The Sofia for the weekend so dipped in here for an iced coffee before meeting up with them. What can you say? It’s a corporation and it feels like one — serving the masses, serving the tourists. So, how does a corporation get a nod as being alright in my book? A great staff and a two for one special, that’s how! I only interacted with Chloe, but she was awesome! She was chipper, ready to serve and was the one to inform me about the two for one deal. Hell, I’ll take two iced coffees for under three bucks. I kept one all for myself and hooked up one of the slow-moving out of towners with a little blast of caffeine to get them through the day. Win-win!

This location has quick, good service and is very conveniently located near a bunch of courthouses and government buildings. However, they serve the same coffee as every other location, which means it tastes burnt. I honestly don’t know how they continue to pass themselves off as a premium quality coffee shop(with prices rivaling Charbucks) given how awful and bitter their roasts taste. This is coming from someone who can appreciate everything from a light Ethiopian Yirgacheffe to a dark French roast. I haven’t found one blend they offer that I like. I’ll be using the rest of my gift card for chai lattes, which are decent, but still not even as good as Starbucks. As for food, the blueberry scone I got was dry, though the everything bagel and cream cheese were a good bet.

The blueberry muffin I bought was gross I took two bites and threw it out. The iced tea was good. Wouldn’t go back. Cashier was weird also.

Would be nice to get a thank you. I sure miss the crew from last year. What a difference a year makes. I experience this phenomenon more and more. People, if you don’t like your job and don’t want to do it well. Quit. Find something you enjoy. Drink was great.

This cool little coffee and tea joint is located adjacent to the courthouse. I love that there is place that has some more personality compared to the many Starbucks’ locations I have frequented. In addition, I have found that the service has just been excellent. Prices are typical compared to other café places. One thing I noticed is that there are a lot of tourists who come here, I suppose it is because of the hotels being in close proximity to this place.

Every time I come to this location I always leave with regret. The employees never seem happy and are always rude. I won’t be back.

Love their lattes, always frothy and sweet. If I have the choice I will go to coffee bean & tea before going to Starbucks. Their espresso and coffee has a robust flavor without the burnt bean taste. Customer. Service is always great and you can easily log on to wifi from any location. Their frozen drinks can be light and sweet or decadent, depending on your mood. Only downside is that there isn’t one closer to my house.

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf coffee shop is located in the same building of the Sofia Hotel. I stayed at the Sofia Hotel from Saturday night to Tuesday afternoon. The coffee shop is closed on Sunday and Labor Day Monday. I was here on my final morning in San Diego. You got to love coffee shops conveniently close to your hotel.

This is a very busy Bean & Tea Leaf location in the heart of downtown San Diego. I came in for a quick Americano, but I could not resist the everything bagel in the display, and when the girl behind the counter mention toasted with cream cheese, I was all in on that.( ) After adding some cream to my Americano and generously spreading the cream cheese onto my bagel halves, I was ready to dig in.( ) The bagel was very good with its chewy texture and mêlée of flavors coming from everything on top, but what I best enjoyed about the bagel, was that it was popped marked with airy craters that added to the overall good quality of the bagel.( ) Yes, air can do that… Then Americano was a tad sharp but strong in a good way. The half and half helped mellow it out. The service here was keen. In fact, one of the young ladies found here way to my area and started up a nice conversation about living downtown. I’m glad they are where they are…

Fast, friendly service. Blood Orange Iced Tea, half sweetened = refreshing and delicious. It was pretty empty the whole weekend. The establishment is small, but the size will do for quick to-go drinks. –Give it a try!

Across the street from the Hall of Justice, the CB&TL was the place when I needed coffee before jury duty. But did I hit them on an off day? The service was super slow.
