Good little bar near my house. Wish it was bigger and served food but that’s just me.

Medium sized venue with a good selection of beer and a great vibe. A little disappointed that the ticket to the show tonight said 8:30PM but the opening acts didn’t start playing until 10PM, we ended up leaving before the headliner got there because of this poorly communicated timing. Besides that it was a very enjoyable experience with great artists and a great atmosphere.

Overpriced cover fee for bands no one has heard of! $ 15/$ 20 dollar cover? C’mon, this is a bar. Not a full-blown venue.

I am not sure how the sound works here but the last couple times I have gone I was disappointed at how the bands were treated. LA Witch I was excited to see and I remember the sound was really bad. Same with Pearl Charles. I’m not sure if the other bands brought their own sound guy but their sound was way better. I was bummed and will probably skip this venue for future shows

I came here once with my friend Kevin. Kevin and I were really impressed. Kevin and I saw a touring band who were quite good. I was impressed with the sound and the feel of the space, as was Kevin. Kevin and I went out to a few other bars afterward, which was really enjoyable. I’m pretty sure that Kevin had a beer when we came here. Kevin is quite a connoisseur when it comes to good beers(and the Hideout has a wonderful selection). Really, if you need a great beer suggestion, you can’t go wrong asking Kevin. There is an ATM here, which is really convenient if Kevin wanted to withdraw cash for any reason. If I were to come to the Hideout with Kevin for his birthday, I would use the ATM. The reason that I would do is in order to facilitate paying Kevin’s cover charge(on the account of it being his birthday). I would also buy Kevin a beer. I would ask him something like, «Hey Kevin, what kind of a beer do you want for your birthday?» Kevin would respond with a fine beer from the Hideout’s selection because Kevin has excellent taste.

I went to see a band here recently, and it’s not one of my favorite places for a show. It is very tiny and narrow so the acoustics aren’t great. I had two draft beers(two different kinds) and both were flat. Very disappointing! I also don’t like the fact the bathrooms are unisex and right by the bar. It’s awkward. I was hoping this place would be more like Soda Bar, but alas it falls short.

Not always the best show venue because of capacity. I’ve been there for some shows(Honey Blood, Spirit Gun) where there was enough space to breathe and dance and others(Cold Cave, Craft Spells) that were so packed it was almost uncomfortable. That said, it’s a great bar. The crowd is usually pretty chill and the bartenders(shoutout to Chris and Priscilla) are awesome. They get to recognizing you pretty quickly if you’re a regular and no what drinks you like.

Alright so long story short. I hated this place the first time I came here. Its been a few months and ive revisited and all I can say is the staff has improved so much and now I love it here. Chris the bartender is easily one of the greatest people I’ve got to experience. He’s tentative, pours great drinks, and is hilarious. He provided the atmosphere I was looking for. On a football Sunday I was not looking for a sports bar so I came here and chris was more than accommodating. I was able to relax and listen to good music, I will definitely be back due to his customer service alone. Thanks, chris!

I much prefer the Soda Bar. The tables here are way too cramped and maybe it was the night I was here(it was last weekend/a major music event they shared venues) but the air seems way more stuffy and everyone in there smelled like BO. I dislike how everyone has to stand in line right in the center of the bar/seating area/lit area to wait for the rest room. It’s very uncomfortable. And they are trying to be very hipster– it seems…(the bars tools seem very small for people’s bodies too???) Where as at the Soda Bar down the street it has some remodeled things about it(the bathroom was nice) and it still feels like a «dive» bar. Which is what you want. I’m going to go and give them 4 – 5 stars. Not so much the Hideout.

Very cool bar. Always felt bad driving by when the city put up the most ridiculously over sized bus stop in front of this place. The bar and bartenders are great. Thought $ 7 petite Jameson on the rocks was a little of a bummer. Came here for a friend’s band. Good time for small shows.

Unique blend of contrasting characteristics — neighborhood spot yet classy with vintage atmosphere coolly paired with craft beers. As the name suggests, the space is smaller than a chain. I simply loved the nostalgic vibe. In terms of the drink list, there were several wines and beers on hand, that were very good. Since this was the final spot of the evening, I was completely fine with that. I grabbed a pint of Sculpin on tap which was also terrific. I will definitely be heading back to this casual and inviting spot!

I came with a group of friends for Cold Cave. We were all excited to be there until, we walked in. It’s a tiny place with hardly any room to breathe. I’m sure it’s a great bar but not a place for a show. I don’t know, maybe it was also the crowd. They were all so hip and new wave, with a «don’t even look at me» attitude. I couldn’t do it. We just sat by the entrance next to the merch. Literally the only place where you could freely move your arms and not smell other people’s underarms. Drink specials were great and the drinks were strong, the bartenders were nice. Although, they charged my friends card when she closed her tab, even though she told them not to charge because she was going to pay in cash, they said not to worry about it, they wouldn’t charge. They took her cash and charged her card without her signature, nice. I’ll come back soon to try it out as a bar and actually get a chance to enjoy it.

My first visit here since this place was one the Zombie Lounge. I want to love this place. The décor is rustic and reminded me much of the Sycamore Den. It’s a nice place for a dive bar. As for the drinks, I ordered $ 2.00 Shirley Temples, as this was a Sunday gig and had work early on Monday. My Shirley Temple was nice and not overly sweet, served up in a Mason Jar glass with ice and straw, cherries to garnish. My friend and I came to this bar for a gig(05-17-2015). Unfortunately, the acoustics were horrible. The band were clearly frustrated that their microphones were so low that they were barely heard, this standing up front– I could barely hear . Haven’t been to a show together in a long time and was really looking forward hearing this out of town band(Nothing). Only to have heard literally nothing on the vocal end. The sound check guy kept walking away from his area. The band kept pointing to the microphone saying CHECK. My friend and I only caught few songs where able to hear the band towards the end of their set, even then it was a total struggle. Very disappointed. Treated my friend to this gig and was embarrassed that she was not able to hear anything. Still enjoyable since I love this band, but it could had been a better experience The Hideout!

Very good, divey bar to go to with friends. We went on a Wednesday night(trivia night) and it was packed when we arrived around 10:30 and we couldn’t find a seat, but at 11PM everyone left including the trivia night DJ and we were the only ones there! Kind of awkward, I am not used to people leaving that early at a bar. We stuck around until about 12:30AM. The staff members are all super attractive looking and very friendly. I gave one of the bartenders my card to open a tab and she said that I could pay cash still if I wanted to and I said I did; however, when the time came to pay she charged my card! My bank ended up charging me $ 27 because there wasn’t enough money in my account at the time because I ended up paying for my friends. Another employee asked why I didn’t leave a tip and I had to explain. my friend ended up picking up the tip. The drinks themselves are pretty standard, I’m not what you would call a bartender, but I can honestly make a better drink and I’m not trying to brag; I like this place a lot despite what I have mentioned.

Great spot. Literally, a little«hideout» on El Cajon Blvd., hiding behind a bus stop. Cocktails in mason jars, craft beer gives you just what you’d expect from a San Diego hip bar, similar to Rabbit Hole, Polite Provisions, Sycamore Den, etc. However! The live music is awesome. They really work hard to keep a full lineup of bands playing here. It’s almost good enough to formally consider this place«venue» rather than only a bar. Good stuff.

great neighborhood bar! I think it’s a tricky spot to appeal to the locals because the area is not really a spot for pretentious hipster bars, but people weren’t exactly lining up out the door to waft piss smell outside of the Void(the former bar/venue in this location). I think this bar has the right vibe for the neighborhood; relaxed, cheap and a little quirky. Nice discount for happy hour — pretty good selection of beers on tap.

I always have a great time when I am at the hideout! Liz is an amazing bartender that knows how to make a drink! They have live bands that come, trivia, or just a chill night with some music. I love the atmosphere when its packed and when its just chill. Allways a GREAT time. its kinda hidden behind a bus stop lol but dont let that fool you, its great on the inside!

Five Stars is over the top for this place, dear Unilocalers but please allow me to explain. This is only my point of view, as a person who is middle aged and well traveled in the ways of «Bardoom»…LOL! I love The Hideout, it is a charming place with a bunny as their logo and then bunnies around the interior, it’s really, really small and charming. Not a place to bring 30 of your drunken friends for a frat or bachelor party. This place is what The Bloodhound in San Francisco on 7th and Sutter would be if they down sized. I love the wood treatment, the bar stools, the sturdy one legged tables that are clean and you don’t stick too at all, the bathrooms with state of the art Dyson hand dryers and décor is gorgeous. The down side is that it is really, really small. When we left Sunset Trivia night tonight on a Wednesday, I could hear the DJ beat from 35th Street by Polk Elementary. too loud. Parking is ridiculous in this neighborhood so please be willing to walk and wear comfortable shoes, we had to park a half mile away… I wore my fitbit. I don’t care, but some of you who stay out until 2:00 am may want to consider this and jump into a Lyft to get here and home. Nice beer selection, they had the Deschutes Black Butt Porter on draft which made my husband happy AND their Chardonnay is actually tasty, it was 6.00 a glass but at least it didn’t taste like toilet water. We were there for Trivia, they have a taco truck out back for munchies and of course Trivia with Fernando is always a good time. I am sure that we will be back, in fact this place is only 2.7 miles running/walking distance from our house, we will probably be there on the weekends during the day time. Btw, I loved our bartender, Liz. I am a little over the snotty«wow man, hey bro» with the hand slaps, fist bumps that you find at my local watering holes off of North Park and South Park where they make you feel«glad» that THEY waited on you and don’t get me started on what happens when you ask for a sports channel to go on…(with the exception of Blue Foot who doesn’t mind and always has sports on.) The Hideout had Duke vs UNC which was a great game, no one had to ask… Our bartender was super sweet, friendly and very good at getting drinks ready for you.

This place used to be bar 11 and the void and it’s such an improvement décor wise. I walked in the first thing I thought was it was possibly by the owners of Sycamore Den or 7grand the décor is quite similar. The problem I have is with their drinks. The bartenders do not know what they’re doing. I used to bartend so I count on the pours. The girls short pours sometimes, it’s not consistent. She made one drink in a shaker but then overfilled the cup with ice dumping out a good portion of my drink. I liked the rabbit hole better than the cucumber gimlet and the French dog but all were 2 sweet and watered down. The girl next to me let me try a sip of her drink called the hideout we both agreed that it was too watery as well. In the end I opted for my trusty standby of vodka and soda, where I was short poured by the gentleman this time. The burlesque girls were highly disappointed in their gin gimlets and took them back to be fixed. I was still thirsty throughout the night but I chose not to order any more cocktails because at seven dollars a pop, well it wasn’t worth it. They were all very friendly but I’m in a bar, I want a good drink and while being friendly helps, it does not make for a good drink. I came for a burlesque show and Dottie and the diamonds. The problem with their venue is that the stage is so low to the ground that if you’re not in the very front you cannot see anything which really sucks about this layout. We were standing on chairs and we still couldn’t see the burlesque show. I finally got to see it after the crowd thinned out on the second set. The décor is definitely better but I like the drinks that I got at bar 11 way better.
