This is a great place to grab a cup of coffee. The owner is very nice and the service is always fantastic.

Support this girl. Over 20+ years this cart has been slinging good cups of Joe. She got a new cart and is still rocking at the same location in front of Coastal Dental Arts on Columbia street. There is some chairs and a cool little bar area to have a nice cup of coffee. Again, coffee carts and cool food-carts are rare in SD. Our street food and coffee cart scene is lame, by supporting this girls cart you are supporting a scene that needs to grow.

I go to this coffee venue about twice a week. The coffee is excellent, especially the Mexican Mocha. The barista and owner is Jennifer and she is very pleasant and accommodating. Her plucky side kick and comic relief is her father Richard. The two are incredibly welcoming and make great conversation if you are looking to do so. This place is what San Diego is all about… A small business run by a quality owner who makes great coffee, plays fun music, and you can meet some of San Diego’s finest as you mill about the coffee bar. Do yourself a favor and stop by, you will not be disappointed.

This is the coolest little coffee cart in all of San Diego in my opinion. From the sweet barista Jen, to the delicious coffee(which I swear is laced with crack), Mud Bar makes my morning and heck, my afternoon too on those must get through days. I’m obsessed with the pumpkin spice latte’s and Americanos. The coffee is strong and flavorful and I enjoy the conversation with Jen and her dad. The duo is a great team and makes me smile whenever I’m visiting. They make you feel like a friend or family member, it’s that genuine. Happy customer here and a happy heart!

Finally! A great cup of brew(not a fancy latte or frappé for me)! Strong and hot. Not bitter or weak. Nice job people. Never would have believed a coffee cart could pull it off. I’ll be back all week during this business trip.

Not the best espresso or coffee, but the barista is very sweet and there’s some outdoor seating on the second floor of this building. The Mudbar accepts cards and is a good option if you are in a bad need of a caffeine fix and can’t go elsewhere.

Was staying at the W across the street and stopped in here for coffee before work, the muffin I had was great and the coffee was delicious. They are in their temporary location now that’s a rooftop terrace which is just charming. :) I’ll definitely come back when I’m in town.

I’ve been fond of this real, independent and local business for quite a few years now. The owner is simply one of the smartest, coffee savvy and focused businesswomen I’ve ever met. She has a good thing, and she’s never tried to expand it into a horrible, corporate and diluted franchise. In other reviews you’ll read about eye contact… This is a rarity in our new world of phone-fiddling, self-absorbed people who fear any level of confrontation. This proprietor makes her customers feel like clients, and everyone gets a warm welcome. So for that– Thank you. As far as the coffee goes, it’s outstanding. I judge coffee establishments not on their half-caf, single-pump steamed undertow soy latté with a freaking cherry on top of the whipped cream, but rather on their signature, standard coffee. And it’s aces. Every day, and consistent. YES, you can get your frou-frou dessert in a cup if you want, and they do it right here, but try the coffee. Really. It’s tasty and good enough to drink black. And that, my friends, is the real story. Good cup of Joe, served up by great people– Go get a cup! Recommended for extreme tastiness.

I just ordered the Iced Americano and it was delicious and affordably priced! The location now is superb but I’m sure the new, or original location will be just as nice as the delicious coffee makes any seat even better. Friendly people! Make sure to stop in!

So good. I hope they stay on the 3rd floor terrace as long as possible, because stumbling upon this place was paradise.

I have been drinking coffee since the tender age of 10. Back in those days, my friends and I would secretly pour ourselves black coffee from our church’s machine, then fill those cups up with as much cream and sugar as possible. We would then proceed to terrorize every single member of the 500 member congregation of our little church as we ran in circles screaming until our tiny little bodies were subject to a very rude caffeine/sugar crash, then sleep through after-church Korean school. I am sure your coffee experience pretty much mirrors mine. Anyways, as we grew older, we added less and less sugar and cream until I became the black coffee addict that I am today. Over the years, I have really developed a taste for coffee that tastes like coffee – that sounds stupid but all you individuals who have been forced to go on a Starbucks joyride only to end up with some terrible watery coffee know what I mean. I mean, I actually stopped drinking coffee for a while thanks to the horrible coffee offerings from the little hipster shops to the Peets and Starbucks giants of the world. But one day, I tiredly stumbled into work muttering sweet nothings in my zombie-like state which my manager correctly identified as a desperate cry for an electrifying cup of coffee. He led me outside into the light and bought me my first Mud Bar Hawaiian Hazelnut black coffee. I once was lost but now I’m found. Now I am addicted and just glad Jen doesn’t provide needles because I have seen Trainspotting and know about the terrible downward spiral of addiction via injection. I am a big fan of the black coffee but my coworkers get everything else. Jen and her awesome dad also know everyone by name and know our orders by heart. Expect to walk up and hear«Hey [Name], Mexiucan Mocha and banana nut muffic?» There’s nice tables and seats, a friendly atmosphere, a nice view, and good music. They are located on the 3rd floor patio of 1 Columbia Place which you can access through the stairs at the corner of Columbia and B St. So go.

The coffee is better than ever here — especially after the new Italiano machine was installed. This is really an espresso-lover’s paradise: smooth, strong, pure and with that signature velvety«crema» on top that makes this a real gourmet experience(all at the fairest prices in town). My favorite is the iced Americano and the Mexi Mocha although you really can’t go wrong. Even the drip coffee gives you a punch in the face you’ll enjoy. And the service … don’t even get me started. Two words: father /daughter. Can you get any cuter?! I think not.

Due to construction outside the old location on Columbia, The Mud Bar is currently situated across the street on the roof terrace of 1 Columbia Place at the corner of Columbia and B Street. In my opinion, the location is better as there is a quiet, but well appointed terrace, where you can sit, chat, read, or meet clients as you enjoy your coffee. The coffee is great and is well known in the area. The cart has a regular clientele and the owner, Jennifer, seems to know everyone by name. There is a coffee club and several ways to pay, including by smartphone. Fresh flasks of different roasts are available at the front of the counter, so unless you are ordering something fancy, you won’t be held up. It is well worth climbing the stairs to the terrace(or take the elevator inside the building) for a cup of excellent coffee and a pastry.

The Best Coffee Spot in San Diego hands down. If you don’t start your day off at the Mud Bar, you really should. Great coffee, music and Jenn is awesome. Not only does it taste good but is definitely strong for all you caffeine junkies out there. Come here every day and that won’t be changing any time soon. Great spot!

Love the coffee, baked goods and friendly service! Making eye contact when speaking to someone is like a Lost Art Form! When you walk up to order Jenn looks at you and genuinely asks«how are you today»… Some might think it Seems silly but I think it’s awesome! The coffee cart is Run by a daughter/father duo that are super friendly, fast and have a great product! Thanks for the great customer service! Tip: check in offer: $ 1.00 off any baked goods!

I’m so excited about finding this coffee place! The people who work there are so sweet and the salted caramel mocha is amazing. I had to walk 2 blocks down from work to get coffee from them but it’s more than worth it. They just found themselves a new regular. :)

OMG … the most amazing coffee in San Diego(so far)! I love supporting local businesses especially those that have amazing owners who are super friendly. Not only does The Mudbar make delicious coffee and coffee drinks, they’re incredibly sweet, friendly people, which I just love. This little coffee cart downtown is perfect to pop by when out and about during the weekday mornings — they even have a great selection of teas, too. I appreciate the details they pay attention to, and that when my husband ordered a café au lait, they asked him if he would prefer drip coffee or an Americano for the coffee part. They have a few small tables next to the cart for seating, and have every acoutrement you need to make your drink to your liking.
