Phenomenal meal! We had the clams for appetizers, which were amazing! For dinner, Mexican prawns and whole fish of the day — which was huge and quite delicious. Douglas, our server was fantastic. Very helpful and attentive. Will be back soon!

We wanted to dine at a superlative restaurant while we were in San Diego for our Anniversary /Valentine’s Day weekend. Aside from the Unilocal reviews, I also researched Chef Amy DiBiase’s resume and reviews at her previous positions at other establishment. I just wanted ensure that I picked the perfect place, that had perfect view, and excellent food. All this should ultimately converge to create the perfect atmosphere for my date with my beloved wife. And after all the research and planning, the execution and results were — Perfect! Tucked within the grounds of Paradise Point Resort, is this wonderful restaurant called Tidal. The atmosphere is quite inviting inside, but the showpiece is the patio seating that gives you a spectacular view of Mission Bay. We arrived there just in time to watch the sun set prior to our dining. Although it was a little bit on the chilly side as the evening progressed, there were a plethora of space heaters and warmers to keep the patrons warm. And in certain cases, they even had blankets to distribute for further warmth. For appetizers, we ordered the wonderful sourdough bread and a half dozen oysters on the half shell that were simply delicious. We are very particular about our oysters, and are apt to notice any substandard selection. However, such was not the case with these mollusks. They were fresh and succulent. The bread was freshly made and hot. Simply a wonderful introduction to what was to come next as far as our meal was concerned. For the main course, my wife ordered the Coriander-Apple Cider Pork Cheeks, and I ordered the 10 oz Top Sirloin. For the sides, we chose the Heirloom Carrots and the Roasted Fingerling Potatoes. The Pork Cheeks were just absolutely sublime! My wife doesn’t normally like any pork dishes, but she wanted to really try something outside of her comfort zone this time. And she was definitely quite impressed, and not the least bit disappointed. I ordered the Top Sirloin because I have a predilection for Spinach /Asparagus. And the Top Sirloin came with Spinach and Yams. This dish was magnificent. The Heirloom Carrots were quite heavenly. The only item that was slightly and partially disappointing were the Potatoes as they were a tad bit too salty for our tastes. This was simply a minor observation, and did not detract whatsoever from the experience of dining here. Speaking of experience, our server, Jan(pronounced Yan) was just absolutely cordial, professional, and superb. The rest of the wait staff that assisted him were very attentive and we had nary a moment wherein we were left wanting or waiting for anything. The manager even visited our table, and shared his affinity for the Pork Cheeks dish. I was particularly pleased that they were so alert, observant, and so helpful. And the views of the bay were astonishing, and the overall atmosphere and ambiance were simply outstanding.

2 stars off for not being accommodating with seating. The food is very good, salmon Wellington came out with a crispy pastry crust and moist fish. Food well prepared but pricey given very little on side. I tried the apple almond tart which was very good but a little too sweet. Overall good was very good. I’m stuck at resort because of conference otherwise I would try other places. That was last night when I went around 5:30 pm. I went tonight at 6 pm and lady at front wouldn’t give me table, offered bar or outside and it’s pretty chilly tonight. Bar looked pretty packed and there were plenty of open tables including one that was a single seat. Told me to try again at 7 pm. I guess they are expecting hoards of ppl to run the place any minute… There’s a reception at a conference and that doesn’t end until 7:30 pm. Anyway I was going to order a $ 50 meal and tip generously like I did last night, but I guess they are too snobby to care about business. Not going back because of snobbiness. I don’t like businesses that are unwelcoming.

Headed to Tidal last night for restaurant week. We both had the price fix but we also ordered a few things from the regular menu. We also had a very good bottle of wine. We were extremely happy, the food overall was excellent, the service was attentive and subtle and the setting/atmosphere was beautiful, quiet and perfectly lit. We had some oysters that were so fresh and creamy, they came with lemon and a red wine vinegar sauce that was crisp and refreshing. It was a huge improvement over cocktail sauce. The sourdough bread board with tangerine fennel butter was incredible. The butter was so good, just amazing. Some of the best bread I’ve ever had. My date had a steelhead tartar that was pretty much perfect, a nice size portion too. I had the onion soup and it was pretty good. It was a tad too sweet and could have used a bit more Gruyère, but really very good. For the main course we had the lamb shank and the pheasant. The shank was tender, juicy and paired perfectly with my wine. The pheasant was perfectly prepared, not a bit dry with an excellent chicken liver sauce. If you’re looking for a great place to eat from a relatively unique menu, give this place a try.

My wife and I were looking for a new seafood spot that wasn’t too pricey and found this place. We’re glad we did! Everything about our experience was great from the location to the ambiance to the service to the food. We started out with their fun twist on sourdough bread and then tried their fish in a bag which was not only fun but good and finally finished it off with an apple tart dessert. Everything was delicious from start to finish! If it’s a warm night, definitely sit on the patio and enjoy the bay view.

Kennedy the waiter was awesome. Food was ok. YT Carpaccio was fishy/scary and the main reason I can only give two stars — simply not acceptable for a seafood restaurant at this price point!

My wife and I decided to visit whilst staying and the paradise resort, our waitress Heather was terrific, our cocktails an orchard martini and a caipirinha were spot on and for an appetizer we shared the foie gras, although fantastic we found the temperature of it slightly too cold as though it came straight from the fridge, a little closer to room temperature would I think make the texture smoother… For entrees my wife chose the duck confit and I, the wood roasted whole fish. Both dishes were fantastic, would love to know which fish I had, I couldn’t remember what I’d been told it was, maybe a speckled sea trout … With its canine front teeth. Dessert, chocolate stout cake with a peanut brittle and mousse … All in all one of the best meals I’ve had

I had the chicken confit which was very juicy and tasty. My wife had the braised short rib which were tender and rich. Both dishes were very good. We would certainly like to come back. My in-laws ordered fish in paper and the whole roasted fish. According to them, the fish in paper was slightly dry but very tasty. The whole roasted fish couldn’t have been better. I had a nice beer recommended by our server.

This place has a great view and is right on the bay. The building has beautiful décor and is very well maintained. I came here for a work holiday party and had a great time. They set up a table with flatbread pizza, salad, and some cookies. The food was typical. Nothing to go out of your way for, but the view makes up for it. Would like to come back and try something else from their menu. Worst case, barefoot is right next door which has great food and a view as well.

I love the atmosphere at this restaurant. Be sure to eat outside. The server and all staff were extremely attentive. My beverage was never empty. The waiter filled my glass constantly without asking. It was flawless! The food came out and it was hot and freshly cooked. My 5 year old had a bloody nose. They were all– EVERY server in that place checked in and asked if we needed anything. They brought and ice bag out with napkins. They even had security come and do a check on her. Despite the embarrassment, they made me feel at ease and they made me us feel at home!!! The food came out and luckily her bloody nose stopped!!! Haha! The food and service made me forget all about the stressful event that had took place before. I had spicy seafood soup and I loved it! All of the seafood was freshly cooked!!! I truly enjoyed this dining experience even though we had a stressful situation on hand, but it was all handled so VERYWELL!!! I highly recommend this place for a great dining experience!!! Thank you to all those that assisted me with my bloody nosed daughter and thank you for making me feel at ease!!!

The reason that I’m giving this place four stars instead of five is because despite the fact that the food was exceptional, the service was just meh. I’d expect a little bit more from the fact that I ordered a full course meal and alcoholic drinks. The ambiance is nice on the patio. And another bar is just a walk down the steps. There’s also a cool man made pond that houses interesting marine life on the way over.

We just order eggs and it took about half and hour just to get the eggs and the restaurant was not busy at all. The food was really oily and the portions are really small. We had much better food in the city.

Good food let down by bad service, leave the kids at home or feed them before you get there! The hostess was nice and attentive but our waitress either didn’t like us or was in a bad mood. She was polite but it was very apparent that everything from her words and smile was fake. We ordered the Salmon and it was quite good, our daughter ordered the pasta with marinara sauce and what she received could barely be called an appetizer portion that she literally finished in 60 seconds. They also charged $ 4 for her first course 8 Ritz crackers and $ 5 for her dessert, a bowl of fruit which had quartered strawberries which weren’t even trimmed. When we asked about the really small child’s portions(really only acceptable for perhaps a 4yr old) they offered to bring us more pasta for $ 5(bringing the kids meal to $ 24) and that’s what they brought out — a bowl of plain pasta, they didn’t even sauce it. It’s clear that our business was not valued here and we will not be back. Instead I suggest you walk 60 feet away to the Barefoot Bar & Grill where the service and the food was executed with much more care.

What a fantastic restaurant and such a surprise in a tourist resort! We started with the cheese plate and then I moved on to the salmon as my entrée. The food was fresh, flavorful and downright delicious. The décor was simple and beachy and the service was impeccable. Tidal is definitely worth a visit!

Just had a really nice evening here. We came earlier in the day and I have to say the guy behind the bar was a little attitudey and could have been more helpful with drink selections(3 stars for that experience), but our server for the evening meal made up for him big time! Kennedy was friendly, attentive and helpful. The food was delicious, especially the bread with beet hummus and blood orange butter… mmm! My father and I had the salmon wellington and the fish in a bag and both were cooked to perfection with a nice flavor. Nothing too heavy. Great dessert menu too! I will be back if I come to this part of California again. Book a table just before sunset to admire the view and if you’re lucky you’ll get to see the seaworld fireworks across the water too!

SD restaurant stop #1 was decent.($ 30) Located off Ingraham at the paradise point resort the outside was really pretty when we pulled up at night. The décor and view are really nice with a great patio right on the bay you could see lit up riverboats slowly cruising around. There was a great lounge firepit area. It was a bit chilly so we dined indoors. The bar area was cold and there were screaming babies like SCREAMING in the bar area with parents who should have taken them outside and no one asked them to leave. I almost bolted immediately there is nothing worse that screaming babies when you are trying to relax over a nice gourmet meal. If I had not just ordered well I would have left. It went on for what seemed like an eternity and I was about to cancel the order when the baby finally stopped. The drinks are pricey most wine was $ 12 – 16 dollars a glass and cocktails $ 12. I got the $ 7 beer(ouch) which was nothing exciting. I don’t mind paying $ 7 but get some pliney or racer 5 or something good. The RW menu was appealing. I had a hard time deciding on the first course. I opted for the Ricotta gnudi with Rapini pistou, mushroom, preserved lemon and walnut froth. This was beautifully plated and very decadent. The server described it as «phenomenal». It was good but not phenomenal. It was pretty rich. Second course I chose the duck confit with cranberry beans, collards, and pomegranate. This was just OK the duck was WAY overcooked. I appreciate crispy skin duck trust me but the meat itself was like jerky and hard and stringy. www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=uQbMVTaQ_UIqhrQgj4Y28A&select=v8njZqKw2zKaGVjmMZeLw For dessert I got the butterscotch pudding with marscapone crème and chocolate crunchy balls. That was Ok I am not a huge desert fan but this was good. I saw peopl got bread in the pictures, we did not. Overall food was just OK and the service was good. If you go be prepared for kids as this is a resort.

I stopped in the Tidal for brunch and as soon as I saw the Stone Crab Benedict’s on the menu, well you know, I just had to have them. In addition to ordering the Benedict’s medium I asked my server to bring me some crostini toast for a few more dollars. The Benedict’s cost $ 16.00. The Benedict’s were quite the handsome pair with their silky champagne Hollandaise with fresh crushed black pepper that I asked for sitting a top a potato cake( ). The poached eggs, although under seasoned, were perfectly cooked as I requested in that the yolk slowly cascaded out( ). The Baja Stone crab was very tender and sweet and went perfect with the silky creamy champagne Hollandaise and the egg yolk( ). The spinach was well cooked and the potato cake, the Benedict’s vessel was rather unique in a very good way. The potato segments were tender, well seasoned and had nice color( ). The ingredients just sang very well together and made for a pleasant eating experience. The meal came with a side mix green salad served with a light vinaigrette which was very nice( ). The crostini was good but it needed to be toasted a little longer, and the butter they serve along with it was to hard to spread, so they might want to get it at room temp before serving. Service was very attentive and polite. Great way to get the weekend started…

I was a first timer coming to Tidal, I have been wanting to try this place out for some time now but have not been able to do so. RESTAURANTWEEK came up and I figured this would be the perfect time to try it! I made reservations for Sunday September 21, 2014 at 7:15 p.m. we arrived a few minutes early(there was more than enough parking) and we were able to walk down close to the bar(left side of Tidal) to enjoy the view and water as the sun started to set. After enjoying such a beautiful view, we walked back to the entrance of the restaurant. Might I say, the front is beautiful, the water reflecting light against the wall was so mesmerizing that I could stare at it for some time. Walking to the door we were already greeted by smiling faces before even opening the glass doors! Monique that night was the hostess and she was an absolute gem! She smiled and greeted us and right away took us to our outdoor seating. On the way there she knew it was our first time so she gave us a quick tour of the entire place and explained what everything was. The inside was just as beautiful as the outside view. Everything was so neat and clean, very elegant yet modern looking, i LOVED it! Monique walked us out and she presented us with two tables and allowed us to pick where we wanted to sit. We sat closes to the heater and they turned it on for us right away. she went over the menu and explained restaurant week to us and also gave her recommendations as well(AWESOMEPOINTSTOHER!). After she left, our waiter soon followed. i believe his name was Ramon. He was very entertaining, informative, catered to all our needs, and was extremely helpful and full of personality! ** RESTAURANTWEEKMENUISNOTFOUNDONTHEREGULARMENU** — I found this pretty odd since normally on R. W places promote their best dishes. so I found that weird, but I was still excited nonetheless to try everything! For $ 35, I ordered — Veal SweetBreads(App) — Squid Ink Pasta(Main) — Crème Fraiche Panna Cotta(dessert) Boyfriend ordered off the menu — Venus Clams(App) — Crab Alfredo pasta(main) — Sorbet trio(Dessert) = $ 43 –We also got Palomar Sparkling Water(2) for $ 10 and I believe the sourdough bread w/herb cheese and hummus was an extra $ 5, too. VEALSWEETBREADS:(Photo provided) was beautifully platted and I believe to be pretty tasty. I’ve only had veal once and this experience was much better than the first! The texture was creamy and not too overpowering so I was able to enjoy every bite. SQUIDINKPASTA:(Photo Provided). Can they please add this to the regular menu?! This pasta was absolutely DELICIOUS! The pasta was cooked perfectly, the flavors were mouthwatering, and my only complaint was that I wish I had more of it! So yummy! CREMEFRAICHEPANNACOTTA:(Photo Provided) I have never had this before but it was YUMMY! It was such a smooth texture kind of like a cross between yogurt and vanilla bean ice cream. The grape gazpacho was a beautiful reddish purple color that went greatly with the panna cotta. Also the walnut cookie was a great addition to it! VENUSCLAMS:(Photo Provided) The clams were cooked beautiful but the star of this dish was the broth that it was swimming in. The potato bits, bacon, garlic bread, and flavorful broth all together made me smile with every bite! CRABALFREDOPASTA:(Photo Provided) talk about crab in every bite! Very good. the pasta was a bit too al dente for ME but other then that, it was yummy(but my squid ink pasta was way better!!) SORBETTRIO:(Photo Provided) I cant remember what all the flavors were but I think it was lemon, apricot, and a yummy raspberry-ish flavor. I wish they gave more for the price but they were good nonetheless. —– —- — SERVICE: Was on point! Monique(Hostess) came numerous times to see how we were doing and to make sure we were enjoying our food. Our waiter, Ramon, was great with bringing our food at a timely manner and taking our plates when we were finished. Overall, it was a fantastic first visit and we will definitely be back for more! 1 – 5 Scale Appearance(place): 5 Appearance(Food): 5 Service: 6 Taste: 5 Mouth feel: 5 Overall: 5! Thank you Tidal! Super cute place. Apparently they went through a total renovation and it used to look completely different. My friend had her wedding dinner reception here and we got to hang out in the lounge area while they took pictures. As we were waiting we decided to get some beverages. It was happy hour after all. The bartender suggested the monkey see monkey do drink since I wanted something a bit sweeter. The drink was amazing! Honey, bananas, rum, etc… and I couldn’t even taste the alcohol which might have been a bad or good thing depending how you look at it. The food was decent. Not the best but definitely not the worst. I’m not sure what the price per entrée was so it hard for me to say was it worth it money wise. We had appetizers(cheese board and chicken liver mousse nom nom), either a salad or soup, entrée and dessert which was definitely enough food. The ambiance is nice. I would definitely hang out here for the view if I stayed at this hotel. Oh and service was great!

The view is fantastic but the food is over-priced. When I drop $ 180 and $ 50 for a steak the steak needs to be fantastic and the service needs to be stellar. I’m not a cheap person, far from it, but when you charge 5 star prices the food and service needs to be there. The scallops, bread, cauliflower, and mashed potatoes were great. However avoid the steak and desserts are all disappointing. Also note my server forgot to bring things several times and even forgot that I ordered a side. This all sums up a new restaurant and/or poor attention to detail.
