For a place touting themselves as a Japanese«Fast Food» place, I guess you kinda know what you’re gonna get. Knowing that, you shouldn’t be disappointed. That is why I have only given it 3 stars, since for a fast food joint, the food is decent. I agree with what another reviewer said, in that you shouldn’t be blown away. I don’t consider myself a sushi expert, but when I am served my sushi, I prefer to have the hot items hot, and the cold items cold. All of the sushi I was served was warm, since they probably don’t have much space separating their cooking area from their sushi preparing area. Since they are considered fast food, they have very reasonable prices. I would rather spend $ 5 on their lunch special, than going over to McD’s and getting fat-laden processed foods. They do have fairly fast service, since I only waited a few minutes for their $ 5 lunch special, plus a shrimp tempura roll. The shrimp tempura roll was pretty decent by the way. Since I’m not a sushi connoisseur, I couldn’t really tell the difference between the different sushi rolls. The only one I could tell the difference was their Philadelphia roll. Even though, this review mostly sounds bad, for a fast food place their food is pretty decent. I would try them again, since their pricing is very reasonable. But I think my next stop for sushi in this area would be the place across the street.

It’s japanese food and some sushi. It’s only got a few stools along a bar counter, so Tokyo Express is not exactly brimming with ambiance. They have the usual suspects: teriyaki, rice bowls, egg rolls, tempura. If I’m craving japanese food at work, this place will do in a pinch. I go for a teriyaki plate with a California Roll, a combo that is around $ 7. It’s as close to fast food as japanese food gets, so don’t expect to be blown away, but hey, sometimes you just need rice.
