During the summer, the main man, Le Per(pronounced Leper, as in the disease, not the fuzzy bitey animal) moves over to plaza on the side to spread anger and frustration to those unwilling to pay for buffet to get a grilled cheese. Now, plaza on the side is like… shopping at Bristol Farms for your pasta and chips, where you will pay 3−4x normal price for the same thing. Today, in desperation, I walked the 10 feet to POTS for a diet coke. My parched palate needed relief. Total bill? $ 4:79. 2 Diet cokes, a tootsie roll, and a twix bar. Prices… on the high side of normal. At least I wasn’t buying a 7 dollar Lean Cuisine, as Juliana C pointed out so deftly. I handed the crotchety Le Per a 10. He hands me back… $ 3.21. Me: This is incorrect. Le Per: That is your change. Me: Le Per, the total was under 5 dollars, meaning you owe me at least 5 dollars back in return. Le Per: Let me check…(presses buttons) oh well the lighting in here is so bad [I must have thought those 3 dollar bills were a five!]. Le Per. Please do not try to steal my money. I deal with you during the school year when you work in the shitty cafeteria and try to charge me for 2 orders of eggs when the nice servers gave me a tiny bit extra out of the kindness of your heart. I will ALWAYS stand up for what is right. Grad student over and out.

Has a GIANTTV to watch when you are bored, late at night, and you don’t have a TV in your dorm.(1 star) Has food late at night when you are hungry and you can’t cook in your dorm. The chicken wings and snack foods are decently good. But then again, you’re an undergrad, so you aren’t that picky…(1 star) Has a pool table to entertain yourself late at night when you are bored(1 star) Total: THREESTARS! And let me emphasize: only nice because it’s open late at night AND it’s so close to Revelle Commons :)

Plaza on the Side is an extra«little dining hall» next to Revelle Plaza where UCSD students can go and spend their meal points to get a variety of snacks, goodies, necessities or random things to waste your meal points on. Although it has a smaller selection than the main cafeteria located in Revelle, there is still a decent amount of selection to choose from. The big downfall of this place however is that EVERYTHING is way TOOEXPENSIVE. Seriously, who charges $ 7 for a lean cuisine when ralphs across the street has them on sale for 1.77 each… that is just jacking up the prices too much. The positive thing about this though is that if you work in a lab near Revelle, it is convenient to go and buy overcharged not that tasteful food instead of walking all the way down to PC and back(saves you a good 30 min if there isnt much of a line at Price Center). However, dont expect too much out of the food — most of the stuff at night is probably leftovers from Plaza so the food does not taste as fresh. In addition, the PBandJ sandwich costs $ 3.50 and does not have the right proportion of jelly and peanut butter. If you are looking for a quick bite and dont care too much about the price or the quality of the food, then try this place, otherwise save your money and go somewhere else.
