Stumbled upon this tucked away spot in RPQ during a work lunch break. They hands down have the best deal on sashimi. They slice all of it very thick and it’s good quality. The rolls were good and they serve cold beer. If you like a hearty amount of sashimi, this is your place!

Being new to San Diego this was one of the first sushi places we tried among others in the area and I still love this place the most. Dine in Service: when we eat in it’s great I’ve only ever had the female server with red hair and she is fantastic. It is a small little area but still comfortable. To go service: it’s hard to understand what they say over the phone I’m not sure if it’s bad connection or what but every time I call to place an order I always have to reassure it is wonderful sushi I called because their introduction is so fast I can’t understand, other than that the to go is probably why I give this place 5 stars over any other sushi place. To go personnel is always kind wether I place an order to go inside or over phone. Food and placement: Lots of great food for a great price. I mainly order food to go and I LOVE it every time, they place the sushi in the to go box perfectly and for me, at least, they NEVER fall apart this is a serious issue I’ve had with previous surrounding sushi places. Also I ask for extra wasabi(my boyfriend is a fiend) and this is the ONLY place I see a massive difference in wasabi portions. Staff: They always seem to go the extra mile for all the guests wether busy or not so much. They always smile and never look frustrated at all. They get everything to you in a timely manner with a smile. Great attitudes and what made my first impression on this place a great one.

Not fancy, but cheap, fast and friendly. We like the lemon roll especially. We eat here once a week– takeout half the time.

This place is my neighborhood sushi spot. I love the dog-friendly patio seating and the servers are always as nice as ever. I’m in no way a sushi snob and I primarily order similar things each time but I just love the convenience and atmosphere of this place so I keep coming back. If you’re looking for somewhere comfortable with good food, this is the place to go. Also, if you get KJ as your server he’s the best so feel lucky!

The main reason I came here was because I had an Entertainment Book coupon. My boyfriend and I were pleasantly surprised to learn that this join also serves discounted rolls. Our waiter was awesome and let us split our order so we could use our coupon and get discounted rolls(although, you can’t use the coupon on the rolls that already have a discount). The sushi was very good and the environment was cozy and friendly. I would come back here anytime.

UPDATE: 12÷2÷15 New ownership for last couple of years and they deserve much better than my original two stars. Their sushi got much better as well as the service. The owner as almost always there and I know it helps tremendously in the business. My wife complained only once, out of about a dozen visits and that’s a rare occurrence for her. My only beef with them is that they print out orders for the sushi chef on the thermal paper and then said chef makes sushi after touching that paper. Not only it’s dangerous for us but to the chef as well.

I’m coming from Los Angeles so I’m a bit of a sushi snob. However, I am also obsessed with sushi and willing to take sub-par sushi to fill the void. I’ve started my search for sushi since I got to San Diego and this place was the closest to my house. Service: Not the best service. Sushi chefs are pretty slow. Waiters are friendly but also pretty slow. Sushi: Also not the best, not the mid-level, buuuuuttttt not bad. It’s as Unilocal«A-OK». Ambiance: There is a an outdoor patio to sit at that’s cool, and a few tables inside. Nothing out of the ordinary for a sushi spot. The one thing about sushi is that you don’t always go for the ambiance some of the best sushi you’ll find is at hole in the walls. Conclusion: If you don’t want to go looking to far and you are local this is a good go to spot for everyday sushi. Not terribly expensive(from a sushi standard) and pretty decent. I’m sure I’ll be back here a bunch because it’s pretty convenient.

My beau and I decided to give Wonderful Sushi another shot. The customer service was certainly on point and the rolls were delicious! There is outdoor seating, which is great if you have kids who love running around. Inside is a bit small but there is a big TV above the bar to keep you entertained. We tried the house salad this time, since we weren’t fans on the cucumber salad and it was delish!

I’ve already been here a few times with friends but last night was awesome! Was supposed to get a coffee date with my boyfriend but the Girl in the Starbucks inside Vons was sooooo ugh(anyways, that’s for a different review). So instead, we go here! And glad we did because Lauren(or Laura??) was slaying! She was so quick with service and very friendly. She is memorable not only for her awesome service but her red hair too! Haha. On top of that, the food was delicious! We got a shrimp tempura roll and Philadelphia roll. My boyfriend was surprisingly full after only two rolls(that we shared!!!). Plus sitting outside was so nice. The tables are always clean. Establishments that have tables outside always forget to bus/clean up the tables but not this place! Good job guys. My boyfriend and I are thoroughly impressed!

Food was good. As we are fast eaters we polished off the sushi pretty fast. My uncle and cousin ordered udon but the the shop missed it and told us we would have $ 5 off on the bill and we waited a extra 15 – 20 minutes for it. Best rolls to get would be the black dragon roll and crunchy spicy tuna — still my default. My uncle aunt and cousin of course still enjoy the sashimi salad. But recently it looks like it isnt as fresh as it usually does according to my aunt.

Tucked in the corner of the shopping center. Super tiny. Easily looked over. But it’s actually pretty good! I haven’t gotten their raw sushi rolls but their cooked/baked ones are pretty good. My daughter loves their udon and I liked their terriaki chicken. Tasty! Service is usually great. A hard working and friendly staff willing to accommodate. The inside dining is a little cramped and small, but they gave a good number of tables on the outside. It’s close to home and our new udon go-to when the daughter asks for it.

Not sure why people have been giving wonderful sushi bad reviews. I have been here twice and they’ve been very accommodating. The sushi is above average though not extraordinary. They frequently have 50% off so it’s very worth the price. The atmosphere is also very quaint, and the shopping center is always a go to. After, get ice cream at ritas or frozen yogurt at golden spoon. My(BYFAR) favorite is the caterpillar roll. It’s about $ 8 with 50% off and it is perfectly made! The rainbow roll is also beautiful. The first time we came, our group of 5 ordered 6 caterpillar rolls. Yes it’s that good!

I love sushi, I eat sushi at least twice a week. Living in PQ, I have 3 options if I’m looking for something easy, quick, and a 2 minute drive from my house. The options are Wonderful, Sushi Hana, and grocery store sushi at Vons lol. For you PQ locals, I conducted a comparison, and got a rainbow roll at all 3 options. Wonderful Sushi was the winner by a long shot. Coming in second was Vons sushi, then last place was Sushi Hana. Instead of pricing their sushi at 1 price, they mark it up and offer 50% off I believe. Silly logic when it’s always on sale… but I see what they’re trying to do. Sushi Hana also does this. Overall I love the fish quality here at Wonderful Sushi. By far the best sushi in PQ. Better than Boto in Carmel Mtn too. The dining area is a bit small, but I noticed they have seating outside now that doubles the amount of people that can be seated. Overall they have great sushi, conveniently located near my house, and is relatively cheaper than most sushi places. If you’re looking for sushi in PQ, this is the place to go!

We only went here because we were super hungry and didn’t want to drive far. But still wanted a sushi fix. Like most sushi restaurants, they have a deal where certain rolls are 50% off but obviously they jack up the prices first. But it’s fairly priced. We came here during lunch time and they were super understaffed. It took about 15 minutes for someone to take our order. All our rolls came out after 35 minutes. The service was very slow. They are OKAY rolls. Not the best quality. But I guess you can say it does the job. They place needs to clean up a little though. Because everything looks dirty. I had black residue in my cup. And a plate on the table had hard rice still on it. Also I would recommend sitting outside because inside looks too crammed.

It’s too bad I have to give this place such a bad review… I have rarely been to places that actually deserve 1 star, but sadly I think this place did it for me. The food was fine, decent actually. I also think the prices are reasonable for a small little sushi shop! Our waitress was sweet and attentive. The thing that ruined the experience here for me had nothing to do with these things… My friend and I had ordered a shrimp roll and some other miscellaneous sushi. We’d actually finished most of our food and were going to order another few pieces when we suddenly hear this loud, electrocuting noise! We both turned around and saw someone behind the sushi counter(where ALL the fish and food was) hitting the wall repeatedly with this big tennis racket looking device! It lit up and electrocuted anything that was touching it when it hit the wall… He was clearly trying to kill some bugs or something he had seen on the wall. I was disgusted, but tried to ignore it. My appetite was gone and I was feeling a little uneasy about all the sushi I had already eaten. If that weren’t enough, a few minutes later when we thought all the ruckus was over he did it again! He had now propped open a door towards the front of the restaurant, and was hitting his electrocution device against the wall there! This was farther away from the actual food preparation(I think)… but still! How many bugs does this place have all over its walls?! Maybe this process is sanitary and a normal thing for restaurants to do… but I definitely don’t want to see it happening while I’m eating dinner. They could’ve at least waited until the restaurant was empty! Needless to say I definitely won’t be coming back here.

Didn’t know exactly what to expect but a pleasant surprise indeed. The restaurant is super small, kind of a hole in the wall. The interior could use an update but the service and food was up to par. Kj’s demeanor was delightful and friendly as the older lady was very gentle and sweet. Plenty of their rolls are 50% off but priced way too high if they weren’t. I ordered a pink roll and wanted to try their brown rice so ordered an avocado roll with it. I think it’s a great idea that they offer brown rice and it was tasty. The pink roll was fresh and I enjoyed every piece of it. A bit sloppy but still a great choice. My friend ordered the dynamite roll and that was also good for a dynamite item. Definitely will come here again for a quick sushi fix.

Regulars at this PQ neighborhood joint! The owners & staff are very nice and sweet here. My family comes often because the food is fresh and good at affordable prices and they have an outdoor seating area that is dog friendly. I’m a fan of their rolls, mom likes the teriyaki salmon lunch bento(they give a lot of food), and dad orders the chirashi bowl almost every time. Service is quick too. The last time we came here we had 3 small dogs with us. The server, without us even asking, comes out with a couple water bowls for them. So nice! My sister and husband come here so much that the owner takes time to chat with them every time. He knew we were celebrating my birthday, so they gave us a free birthday dessert… fried green tea ice cream. YUM!

Not that this place is gross; it’s just that I’ve had better. Even for non good places was still better than wonderful sushi. Around SD or north county SD, there aren’t many options of japanese food. I think i’ve eaten all around the japanese restaurants in Poway. just down Poway Rd, i know i’ve been to them all. Wonderful sushi is just another non-authentic japanese restaurant that’s on the other side of the 15 fwy. Came here for lunch and ordered a few rolls since they were 50% off. Everything is just average; none stood out to my liking. I was disappointed with the rolls I ordered. Even their california roll is bad and that’s not even authentic at all and how can one restaurant make california roll poorly? prices are not cheap even with 50% off it’s still not a good deal. At least not good of a deal for me to go back and give it another try. a friend had told me that I should have ordered the chirashi salad because that is supposedly good. We’ll see if I ever go back again. Every roll has too much sauce. as if they want to hide something. Even Rainbow Roll had ponzu sauce — what??? I should have known not to step foot in to this restaurant when I didn’t see anyone dining here during lunch. Should have gone to the thai place next door — now that place was happening.
