I thought the negative reviews were just picky people. but sadly they are true… I usually do not mind waiting 30 — 45 mins for my order if the food is good … even after waiting 30 mins just to make an order i was still hopeful… after an hour an 15 mins our order finally made it to the table we regretted every bite. After spending an hour listening to waitresses shamelessly complain about how nobody leaves tips before my food hit the table. after tasting it. now i know why nobody leaves tips cause they just waited an hour to pay 60 bucks for a stomach ache like me.

The food is not bad and the portions are generous. The prices I would say are fair considering what you are getting. The service was below par. The waitress took very long to take my order and wouldn’t check in with me to check if i needed anything. I had to get up to ask for more coffee and toppings for my pancakes. I attribute the poor service, in part to the size and set up of the restaurant. It makes sense that the servers would take long to check in with the customers. Lastly, the booths are really comfy I liked the décor.

I’ve been coming here on Saturdays for breakfast on a regular basis now. I come early enough to sit on the same booth. The coffee always tastes the same, which is good because I enjoy it while I watch the morning news. I’ve always had great service and have no complaints on the food or their customer service. Tip: Go early… The place does get full and you’ll have to wait for your food.(One time experience only)

This place doesn’t even deserve a star. The service here is horrible, the waitress with the flower on her hair is extremely rude. First this waitress doesn’t have the patience to take your order 2nd) she brings you the wrong food more than once and 3rd) brings you the wrong bill. The food is okay, except the pancakes suck. I guess if they hired new waitresses this place would be worth giving a star or all 5. I don’t recommended this place at all you might as well go eat at Denny’s.

It’s a shame that their aren’t quality family diners in San Fernando and Sylmar, I wouldn’t recommend this place to family and friends. You can honestly have a better experience at Denny’s. The food was bland, tasteless, and overpriced. I felt like a burden to my waitress, she was rude, cussing and talking about other customers. I’ll never spend money there again, but hey try it for yourself. Peace.

Very disappointed in this place. The food quality had been declining for years. I was very sad to see the staff using the microwave to heat up and serve up the majority of the food. We came for breakfast and all the food was greasy and had no seasoning. Do not order the country fried steak, no flavor and very mushy texture even before the gravy came to the table. The waitresses were very gossipy and were complaining about customers. Seem like a place that would be featured on kitchen nightmares. Definitely will never go back.

Waitresses complaining about customers and cussing in Spanish. I don’t think my 3 yr old son should be listening to that. The food and the service was really bad. This was a great place to eat a few years ago. WTF happened to this place? It went from awesome to awful. Just go to McDonald’s next door and eat something better.

Simply the worst service I have had at a restaurant in many many years. 2 waitresses and about 7 tables. They mostly spoke to each other and checked their iphones. Tried to use the restroom, of which there was just one, and it was tied up for close to 20 minutes. I reported to front desk that they might want to check if there was anything wrong, but no response. When I finally got back to my table found that they had served my meal while I was not there. That is pretty much a deal breaker of any restaurant. Had to get a new hot cup of coffee on my own. Never checked on, never offered to refill my coffee, and all in all the most disrespectful and non service I have received in a long long long time. Trust me and you would do better to go the the McDonalds next door. Jeez, just don’t get how a place like this keeps its doors opened. Won’t be going back here, EVER.

My family and I usually have breakfast at IHOP or Denny’s in the area. However on this morning I took my eight year old to James Restaurant for the first time ever and I don’t know if I will be back. Our waitress was in a complete rush throughout our meal. What I mean by this is that she would drop our food and drinks«off» and split, not giving us any time to ask a question. I had to wait for her to be in our area to ask for Cholula hot sauce(which she never ended up bring us). She got my daughters order wrong by giving her bacon instead of the sausage we ordered. We also asked for a box to take our left overs(which she never brought). On my way out of the restaurant I brought the lack of good service to the male owner who was at the register. He was indifferent to my concern about the bad service. The owner commented and he shrugged his shoulders, «We’re busy». He seemed ok with the fact that his customers were receiving mediocre service from his staff. However, the owners answer was lame. We have always received great service from IHOP and Denny’s on extremely busy days. The female owner did take the time to listen to my concern(as her husband gave me his back and waled away), even as she carried multiple cups of coffee in her hands. She heard me out and seemed genuinely concerned. She apologized for the lack of service. Her taking the time to listen to me is the only reason I may go back. I did communicate to the owners that the food was great, my daughter and I both enjoyed it. However, it was the lack of great service that left a bad taste in my mouth.

Really great food and great prices. Only down fall? The waitress with the flower in her hair. She is always messing up orders, forgetting something, or too busy talking and talking. Plus she takes FOREVERRRRRRRR. I ask for a side of blu cheese, by the time I was done with my sandwich and fries she brought it to our table. Like really? What good is this anymore . Other then that, it’s a great place to bring the family.

Amazing staff. Really classic spot. Tons of variety from breakfast to dinner. South of the border options and American classics for whatever your little heart desires. Love this place

I had seen this restaurant listed on Hidden Los Angeles FB page. We had been wanting to give it a try. I had viewed the menu online, and wasn’t sure what I would have. The menu listed great selections for breakfast, burgers and sandwiches. Not to mention the dinner menu. The appearance inside and out was clean and well kept. We were greeted warmly and everyone else shared the same warm and friendly customer service. On the specials board was listed Menudo. Then I saw a bowl! I instantly knew what I would be having! Tina had the French Dip and Fries, Christina had the Pancho Villa(no bacon, extra sausage) and Austin had a huge bowl of oatmeal with bananas and brown sugar. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. Now, the menudo is one of the best I have ever had. One of the things that was different here, was they served it with fine chopped jalapeño’s on the side. In addition to the regular lemon, onion, cilantro and crushed red pepper, the jalapeño’s gave it an additional flavor and kick! I know we’ll be back. A bunch of times!

If I can sincerely say if I can give NEGATIVE stars I would. One the food is not that pleasent me and my huny got sick off of it. The customer service is SHIIITTTT!!! It was not full it was completely empty explains right. There’s was this waiter on her personal phone the whole time and you can hear the conversation. Also had another group of waiters gossiping amongst each other. I believe the lady that was in the personal phone was arguing with someone. And clicked and the person she was arguing with called the(RESTURANTPHONE) multiple times and kept trying to TO talk to the women. *PLUSSHEGOTMYHUBBYSORDERWRONG(TWICE) HEASKEDFOR A ½ POUNDPATTYANDCHILLICHEESEFRIES. Plus all the loud gossiping amongst each other Getting sick off the food. To top it off we waited 15min to get our damn receipt after we asked for it. We got tired of waiting and just got up. HORRIBLEHORRIBLEHORRIBLE!!! ((*I REALLYWISHED I LISTENEDTOTHESEREVIEWS*)))

I’ve been coming to James for quite some time and it always amazes me at all the variety of plates they have to offer. I normally like to get the James breakfast special because it contains everything — bacon, hash browns, egg and either pancakes or toast. Let me just say this breakfast is not your ordinary special that you get anywhere else. I def recommend to check it out.

Last night after a quick jaunt to San Fernando the family and I got hungry. We spotted this old timey sign that reminded me of the New York /New Jersey diners that I frequented when I lived there. Pulled into the parking lot and walked in. The place has that old diner feel to it. Red vinyl seats, comfortable booths, Christmas light strands blinking on and off(don’t know if this is a year round thing or specifically for the holidays) and nice big menus. After browsing the big ass menus we settled on our grub. Wifey: Ham and cheese omelet, hash browns and toast — She raved about that shit as if she had made it herself. tried a bite and she was right. tasty as fuck. Son: Chicken tenders and mashed potatoes. He inhaled that shit with a quickness, you would think I don’t feed the fucking kid. Sheesh. Me: The chicken tenders appealed to me, but I was also in the mood for some kind of breakfast, so I settled on the tenders and eggs with hash browns and toast. That shit was delicious. Our server was a lady by the name of Carmen. Now I’ve read some scathing remarks about how the service is bad and if you sit your ass in Carmen’s station you’re pretty much fucked. We didn’t experience neither of the two. The service was good, Carmen was attentive, but not overbearing. I hate it when servers ask you if everything is ok every 15 seconds to try and work the tip(unless she’s hot, then i’ll «tip» her anytime) $ 34.50 later we walked out of the joint content and wanting to come back again at some point.

50’s style, 21st century fresh. Classic American/Mexican grill. Slid in for breakfast on a Saturday morn. Fresh inside. Counters not worn out, booth cushions springy & supportive, upholstery nice. Menu vast. Check it on the web page. Someone was eating a kiddie pool of menudo two tables away. People ordered American, Mexican. When my pancakes, eggs and ham arrived I finally figured out why there are so many UFO sightings near downtown San Fernando. I ate 1⁄3 of the cakes, ½ the ham and was still filled to my eyebrows.
