Now, you’re probably here reading this because you’re thinking of eating here at Brick and Beam. Maybe you’re staying at the nearby hotels, maybe there’s a game on, maybe you don’t feel like going too far, and the other reviews haven’t done their part to scare you off yet. You might be thinking to yourself«Well, it’s right here, and there aren’t many sports bars near Pier 39, and it looks kind of fancy, how bad could it be? Surely these reviewers are overreacting.» Well let me tell you just how bad it actually could be.(There is a TL;DR at the end). This is a tale of caution, as myself and my co-workers were right in your shoes while we were here in beautiful the San Francisco Bay area. We caved, ignored the reviews, threw caution to the wind, and decided to watch Game 5 of the Warriors/Cavs finals here. Big mistake. We sit down, and were immediately greeted not with malice, but with sheer indifference, as the maître d’ ignored us completely, as we were urged by a plain sign to find our own seats, which we promptly did. Ten to fifteen minutes later, our waiter came over and was incredibly rude off the bat. Explained to us why he REALLY did not feel like splitting up our meal onto separate, even though it WAS something that they did. He so curtly put it «We’ll just do whatever it is you want at the end, what do you want to eat?» Well, after that, we ordered our food from the menu, which was ridiculously pricey, but it IS San Francisco, so we just went with it. Maybe the food would be good after all! Myself and my coworker got the Mary’s Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and«seasonal vegetables.» $ 29. My other coworker got the $ 16 Truffle and Mushroom personal flat bread pizza, about 7 inches in diameter. Another got a $ 14 moldy, stale cheese platter and a $ 10 burger(upon which they forgot to add bacon, even though we were charged for it). Our food came out a while later as we enjoyed the game. My coworker took a bite of his pizza which he then quickly pushed it away, as it tasted like they soaked it in bathwater, which we all confirmed as we tasted it. Somehow this place made a bad pizza, which I heretofore thought to be impossible. Now back to the Mary’s $ 29 Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes, and«seasonal vegetables.» The mashed potatoes were actually French fries. The«seasonal vegetables» were 4 small steamed, unseasoned, asparagus sticks. The chicken itself was more akin to children’s chicken fingers. There were two chicken fingers, about 3 inches long. It felt more like a TV dinner doused in salt than a $ 29 meal. I sacrificed one of my chicken fingers so that my coworker could actually eat food, since his pizza was simply inedible. We thought the other reviews were exaggerating, but they were not. This is quite simply the worst restaurant in San Francisco. Do not go here. Do not drink here. It is not a good time. Stay in your room and watch the game, maybe order room service or walk to In N Out around the corner. This place is ABSOLUTELY wretched. The service, the seating, the food, all some of the worst I’ve ever had to suffer through. Please reconsider. Do not give these people money. I felt disgusted that I had to tip these people, they did not deserve a cent. You could get a better meal and service by eating some leftovers off of the trays people leave on the floor outside their rooms when they’re done with the room service. Tom was the greatest and most hospitable bartender! This place is number one! I had the tomato soup and sourdough grilled cheese. Todd has the prosciutto pizza and we are in love

I had the fish tacos and garlic fries, which both were amazing, and the service was great. My server was attentive and funny, I would eat here again for sure!

Not a bad place to get a drink but somewhat pricey. I guess I should have expected that considering they’re connected to a hotel. We only had drinks. Most likely won’t be back.

Food was very good. Fresh salad ingredients and great bread. Noisy bar atmosphere with inattentive waiters.

I ordered the Crab and Shrimp Louie Salad and Crab Chowder in Sourdough bread bowl, both were very tasty! My girlfriend got the Mushroom Truffle Flatbread and Garlic Fries, which was also very good. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff made it a great experience.

Ordered a beer and the fish and chips. Food was unseasoned and mediocre. My waiter, Juan, was inattentive after delivering my food. The dish desperately needed some heat and acidity. But my waiter was absent eliminating any possible request for the much needed hot sauce. Unseasoned food gets rating of three. Service gets rating if one. Owner/Manager please ask Juan why I should come back.

Great service, nice atmosphere, ok mixed drinks. The food is not the greatest. I tried the fish tacos, they were flavorless nothing special but pricey, of course! Also the Tortilla soup and it tasted more like a tomato soup, it was heavy in tomato flavor and acidic. Maybe next time, I’ll try their garlic fries.

Loved it. Flakey and moist street taco. Loved the fish and chips. Definitely will be back to enjoy the food and a walk down to the wharf. Ambience is relaxing, perfect for couple and family.

I am a pretty big fan of this place. I like divey-type of bars, but the Buena Vista was too far to walk to. Well, it wasn’t that far, we just weren’t feeling it. The beer selection was pretty good. I always like to get a local beer when I have a chance. I wish I could remember the local brew I had, but can’t remember the name. Not that it matters. You’ll probably find something different there by the time you get there. The bartender was pretty cool, too. Had this not be the end of a long, long work week, she is the type of bartender you would love to spend some time with. We would have closed the joint down, but had to do the right thing. Which is so unlike me.

The Brick & Beam was conveniently attached to our hotel. If not for that, I’d give it 2 stars. The food is just ok, and way over-priced. My husband and I ordered the crab and clam chowder, which is served inside of a toasted sourdough roll. I’m not sure I tasted a single clam, and there were no substantial chunks of crab meat — just sparse, stringy bits. My kids ordered $ 15 hamburgers, which were large but bland and unremarkable. My daughter added bacon to her burger, which was gross… I’m not sure how you mess up bacon but they managed to do it. The service was good, but the food left much to be desired.

Ok, it’s a hotel bar, food is overpriced, but you know this. Happy hour 7 days a week, $ 5 draft, $ 6 house wine, not bad for San Francisco. The space is beautiful, wide open, high ceilings, brick and beams, plus tons of big screens to watch the game. If you’re staying at or near Hyatt, it’s a great place to hang out. Cool bartenders and customers.

Deserves a one star for service but I LOVE the ambiance and space of this place. They have tons of TVs tuned to sports which is nice when you’re trying to watch the evening game. There is a lovely fireplace area with cozy chairs and large family style tables in multiple places across what feels like a big lounge. The menu isn’t bad, and the burgers are filling. The wines are reasonable, although a little pricey. However, this place is consistently horrible at service. Be prepared to wait at least 10 min to order a drink, and you’ll likely be dry for a bit before getting the chance to reorder. The first time we went I had to hunt someone down to ask if we could order — they were horribly slow due to being packed on a Friday night at 10pm. We went back while they were slow — service was just as bad with 6 tables in the entire location. Not a bad hotel place if you don’t mind waiting unnecessarily.

The food here is mediocre at best, and the service my friends and I experienced was very grumpy, but the environment is lovely and spacious, it’s 100% WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE, and the drinks are tasty and well-made. This is not a hipster foodie restaurant. The food tastes highly processed, and came to our table cold. Our waiter forgot to tell the kitchen my request to leave the jalapenos off my nachos… and then tried to convince me that they weren’t very hot, so shouldn’t bother me. That took incredible crust to suggest to me, because I’d made it very clear when I gave him my order that I won’t eat jalapenos, and would send the dish back if they were on my food when it arrived. I made good on my promise, and by the time he brought out a new plate without jalapenos, everyone else in my party had already finished their meals :( Our server was Russian(he told us this) and very grumpy, especially because we had a child in our party, a well-behaved 2-year-old who made no mess, unlike his mother, who accidentally knocked over her glass of water. The server seemed to assume the toddler was responsible, even though we assured him he wasn’t, and the glass itself wasn’t broken, just on its side. Regardless, accidents happen, a good server takes these things in stride and doesn’t make his customers feel like criminals over a spilled glass of water. Would I go back here? Maybe, if I was in the neighborhood and Albona was closed(as it was that night). But generally speaking, there are thousands of other restaurants in this city with better food, more gracious service, and significantly lower prices. That said, it’s clean, spacious, and located right across from a hotel, near the Embarcadero… so for tourists who are looking for a decent place near their hotel to grab a margarita with a friend, this is a solid choice.

Was staying at the Hyatt and had just checked with a little time to kill before a conference. We decided to stop in for a bite to eat. Should have just drove around in circles to kill time. Ordered a burger medium rare and it came well done. But that wasn’t the first mistake… they originally brought us out the wrong food. As mentioned before… Food was mediocre at best. Service was meh. 2 stars because the clam chowder was great and the décor was nice. Not enough to bring us back …

Food, mediocre. Service: meh. Stopped by for late lunch during happy hour /football game time. Tables in main room occupied or dirty(and abandoned by people now taking a second seat in front of tvs) relegating us to no man’s land around corner serviced by one overworked waiter. Snooty older couple behind us sat down after us but got menus before us and their orders fifteen minutes earlier. Despite having a waiter and another server ask if we needed anything(yes we were waiting on our drinks) it was 30 minutes from sit down to the arrival of our beverages, and our food arrived first. The restaurant and the hotel would do well to remember that while older couples have money, mid 30s couples also have disposable income and a propensity to use Unilocal more. + +(extra details: I dislike leaving bad reviews, or suspecting ageism, but this was ridiculous. Also sliders were tasteless and came with onion straws baked into cheese but not mentioned on menu. Fish and chips were fair, but soggy and too soft. In a city like San Fran there are plenty of places that will serve that better.)

Really cool décor and a nice quiet place to get a beer and some food. This place has some top shelf whiskey selection and no shortage of tvs to watch the game. Classy vibe. You could definitely come here with kids if you wanted to grab a bite or a beer. Try the 21st amendment watermelon beer. One of the best from SF.

Delicious chicken wings and the shrimp quesadilla was really good too! They have really good garlic fries as well. Good draft beer selection too! Shayna the manager checked in on us twice made sure we were doing alright. Our bartender MJ is pretty awesome too! Definitely come here if you’re in the Fisherman’s Wharf area!

Food was great and atmosphere was very good. Drinks prices were very high. Had a shot of Crowne Royal and it was 12.00. Also when I called no one answered the phone and then when i called back the person answered the phone told me to hold on as they walking back to the restaurant. You think with what they charge for drinks they could afford a normal phone and someone there to answer it professionally. This place has a lot of potential but would not go back.
