Very nice alternative to the rowdy bars and the bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly Make it your necessary stop in your Union St visit and if you live nearby there is no excuse — pull up a stool and enjoy the ambiance!

Stumbling upon this place by accident is one of my fondest memories from my trip to San Francisco last winter. After a long day exploring the city, we hopped off the bus in a promising-looking neighborhood in pursuit of dinner and decided to stop for a quick drink first. Everything about this place was awesome. The service was attendant and friendly, the space was trendy yet relaxed, and the drinks menu was expansive. Most memorably… they had an amazing happy hour when we were in. I’m pretty sure my boyfriend had his draft beer(a blue moon) for $ 3, the sheer fact of which he could not believe. My glass of prosecco was really well-priced at happy hour, too. Overall, great spot, and next time I find myself in San Francisco, I’ll definitely make a point to return.

Always been a favorite of mine in the Marina. Great wine, relaxed crowd, and never too loud to have a nice night with your favorite people.

Two stars is probably generous considering I had an unimpressive experience. The menu on their website is completely out of date, prices have gone up. I only had a glass of wine, when the bill arrived I was charged $ 11, apparently no happy hour for wines by the glass, only for bottles. Incredibly strange for a wine bar, so with tip and tax it cost me $ 14 for one glass of cava. SF is expensive but this is absurd, I live next door but I wouldn’t return, skip it in favor of the numerous options on union or chestnuts streets on either side of this place.

I love this place for a cheeky glass of wine. Good wine selection by the glass and the happy hour flights are fun to do. They do a nice cheese plate too with locally sourced cheeses. Good service with friendly bar tenders. Bar tends to go through peaks with busy spells which can affect the atmosphere though.

Horrible horrible place, worst service that I ever received. The business uses cheap and dirty tricks to sell you bottles of wine that are year or two younger than what was written on the menu. We ordered the Arenal 2012 but were given 2013(see pics), explanation was that it was an error. Then we ordered another wine and it turn out that was also an year younger. It’s Bay Area and there are hundreds of wine bars around. Don’t waist your time and money and go some other place where the business is done honestly and honorably. This actually happened on December of last year(2014), but this review had been sitting in my drafts and just noticed

Cute little slot, met a friend for a glass of wine. Not too crowded on a Friday night, but enough people that it wasn’t dead. Great last minute spot.

The cutest little wine bar! It is always crowded here, especially during happy hour. They have a fantastic selection of wines and small plates. A nice neighborhood place!

NOTGOINGBACK! Horrible customer service and bad business practice. They fraudulently list wrong year on the wine list and bring you a year or tow younger wine bottle after ordering. Most people do not notice, I think the business counts on that. Overall it’s a bad place to go for happy hour or anytime :(

This place is darling! Great vibes(calm, not crazy loud, fun), good wine, reasonable prices in an otherwise expensive neighborhood. Definitely will be back to spend more time here! It’s hard to beat a place in this location, that lets you bring your own food to eat with their wine on Sunday’s! Oh, and try the truffles as a treat with a bottle of wine :)

Our neighborhood go to. Ken is an amazing dude and always gives us a good deal on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Super friendly, nice atmosphere, great finger foods and good music!

Great place to relax & unwind with friends and enjoy some wine. If you’re lucky, you’ll be there on a Sunday night and they’ll be playing my «baby making music mix». Carolyn pours a nice glass and her smile will melt your heart… if you can draw her away from«girl talk» with the other patrons.

12.13.14 etc. | bookmarked 05.04.11 Cellar Door, previously Pe Yale, is a quiet wine bar. Great for a pre or after dinner glass for intimate conversations. Like.

Love this spot! I was first looking for a place to reserve for my birthday(they have fabulous packages for groups) then my good friend Lindsey told me she had been here and it is indeed a great wine bar. Me an her stopped in to check it out confirm my reservation for my birthday and do some tastings. The rose is wonderful along with the cheese plate. Can’t wait to hold my Birthday here in December. Will update once the party is over!

love.love.love!!! For all the Marina bar haters out there, COMEHERE. This is such a gem among the rest of frat row in my hood. The ambiance is nothing short of stellar — cozy, romantic, but with just enough edge to keep me interested. Nice selection of wines and bubbles too. I was there too late to try food but will definitely be back for a cheese plate… obviously. And Ted! Ted, our bartender, was awesome! He was the friendliest bartender I’ve come across in this city. Not only did he introduce himself like we were about to become BFF’s, he asked for our input on the music, and partook in a great little convo about his favorite spots around the city. Ted, I’ll be back soon!

I love this bar. It’s become my new ‘go-to’ when I want a quiet weeknight drink with a friend or lively atmosphere on the weekend. The bartenders are super friendly and show that not everyone in the Marina /Cow Hollow area are stuck up, or whatever the current reputation is. Cellar Door is a place for the wine connoseiur and beer-lover alike, with yummy bites to boot. Don’t hesitate stopping by, you won’t be disappointed. Also note: it’s a great spot for a private event should you be looking for a place to entertain. Or they’ll let you«save the front» part of the bar too.

This is such a cool little wine bar! My boyfriend brought me here on a Saturday, and we made it just in time for happy hour. Im sure the happy hour is inclusive of more deals, but we saw the«20% off bottles» and we were immediately sold! We were able to sit there talking and sipping on our wine for a couple hours, and the staff didn’t bother us at all. Wish I was hungrier so I could’ve tried one of their small plates– I’m sure it would’ve been a great accompaniment to our wine. We had a 2010 Contra Old Vine Field Blend from Bonny Doon Vinyard, which is apparently from the central coast. I’m a sucker for blends, so I loved it. Definitely rich and fruity as described. It has such vivid flavors, which you could even sense through smell. The ambiance at cellar door is definitely unique(as described on their website). We noticed one of their walls was decorated in old newspaper, which I thought was cool. They also had green wine bottles with lights hanging from the ceiling by ropes — something I’ve never seen before and thought it was a nice touch. Overall it was a nice experience. Perfect date night Id definitely visit again

CRAZY fun place!!! Ted is a love ball and a hoot! Down to earth, warm, talented«every ready bunny» with a «I could hang with this kid so easily»… He knows people, San Fran, fun, food with such an overwhelming friendliness that can’t be faked. The place is vibrant and intimate(seriously its tight), well stocked, affordable and fun. Downstairs they have a room for rent for intimate parties. Happy hour is crazy cheap — check it out and try it out. Perfect for a chicks nite out or starting or finishing a prelude to the ultimate date of the night… or shooting it with friends… or meeting new friends. An off the touristic beaten path find!

Situated right next door to Michelin starred Atelier Crenn, Pe Yale offers eclectic choices of beer and wine. With dark wood and red leather seating to set off a casual, sexy ambiance, you’ll feel relaxed in no time. I had the bubbly flight which includes a taste of each: Isabella prosecco, Canella Rose spumante and Roederer from Anderson Valley. If you want to get a variety of bubbly with hugely different characteristics, get the flight. As per the glass, prices aren’t too overpriced. The cheese plate includes both Idiazabal and Manchego(huge fan of Spanish quesos!) as well as two other ones which names escape me. Well worth the $ 21 price since it also includes a generous serving of sliced baguette, nuts and olives. I like a super chic space where you can have a glass of vino and actually hear yourself talk, especially in the Marina. Easily, 4 solid stars.
