Solid breakfast/brunch spot. Long lines on weekends. Food is good. Outside seating for parties of 3 or more not permitted.

They were totally helpful when we asked for vegan options. I got the acai bowl and avocado toast. Both were delicious. The blood orange juice was amazing. I would definitely come back if I’m in the city, and in the area. I’m pretty sure their non vegan options are out of this world. The pancakes look too good. Definitely recommend trying it out for yourself.

Best Brunch on 2nd and Arguello! also the only brunch on 2nd and Arguello, but that only shows you how good it is. Nothing competes with Eats!

I came here for breakfast on a Sunday by recommendation of a friend. Luckily there was no wait, but they were still doing lots of business. This is a cozy, neighborhood restaurant. For breakfast I ordered the spicy skillet. It arrived in, no surprised, a small cast iron skillet that was piping hot. Surprisingly it wasn’t very spicy. The dish had a tomato base and had kale, zucchini, a few other vegetables and scrambled eggs on the top. It was served with 2 slices of grilled buttered bread. Overall the dish was pretty good, but a bit light on flavor other than the really strong tomato base. When I added some salt and a generous helping of cholula & habanero sauce, it started to come alive. I’d probably come back, but wouldn’t order the same dish. It’s a great looking menu with lots of options depending on your preferences. Oh, and the service is fantastic.

Ate here a few times and finally decided to write a review. The atmosphere is pretty lively here with families, friends, and couples. Oh, and the occasional dogs that wait outside. Every time I go there’s always a wait list(no surprise there since we always go on a Sunday), but the wait is never long. Everyone that I’ve brought to the place has always loved it, and I’ve always enjoyed everything I ordered. My highlight of Eats would be their Berries and Cream Waffles. I order a half order every time(gotta save room to try new things to ya know) and I’ve never had a better waffle dish than theirs, so you better believe that I’ll be stopping by again!

I enjoyed the Ham and Tomato Benedict with potatoes on a typical cold morning in San Francisco. My mind was heavy during the time I was being served, but if there’s something that can somewhat cheer me up– it’s food. It sure was comforting and allowed me to enjoy the goodness of the food in the moment. Our server was sweet, and therefore lightened up the start of my day. Eats is a bit of a wait on weekends, and when we came to put our name on the board that is located outside, we had 10 names ahead of us. I walked down the street to grab some coffee and came back and we were halfway near the top of the list. Overall it was about a 45 minute wait but worth it. I would come back to try something else. Possibly pancakes since thy serve REAL maple syrup!

The food is great. My experience waiting in a large queue to be seated was unpleasant. There were a lot of people ahead of me. I selected to be seated outside to hopefully get sorted quicker. I was a part of 1. The tables outside were dry and not occupied. I waited and waited, eventually they got to me, after seating everyone ahead of me for inside. When it was my turn, I could have been seated inside, but they inside seated me outside. That is fine, I guess they don’t seat people faster if they choose outside. But then other people who put outside started getting seated faster, so be consistent with your practices, it is aggravating to me to have to wait and be seated outside anyway. It sucks to sit outside when other people are waiting and watching you eat. Sit inside if you can.

Huevos rancheros — I suspected that I love you but Eats made me certain. So nice, crispy delicious. I felt bad for not going back there once more before I left San Francisco. The place itself is rather small but nice & cozy. Service is a bit slow, but that’s probably because they were busy.

We had the eggs Benedict and pork hash and both were great. Very nice service and ambiance. Quick to order and get food after sitting down. We were 7th on the list outside and the wait was about 20 minutes, but they got people in and out pretty quickly. Worth the wait! Definitely will be coming back here for brunch.

I told myself that I am NOT going to wait in line for another crazy SF brunch… not doing it! But then, Shirley Y. told me about this place and she said that it’s really good. You don’t have to tell me twice about good food… So we stood, in the rain… watching people go by, staring at people’s food very awkwardly through the window like creepazoids. I mean that guy’s polenta looked on point! They are very strict about all people in the party being there on time. Honestly, if my party was not all there and my name was next, it sure would turn into a party of one real quick. But that’s just me. We get seated and the service is SONICE! I don’t know why I get surprised by good service. Maybe because it’s starting to get few and far in between. When we get seated, I had to choose between a glass of mimosa or a carafe of mimosa. I’d say that I went with the carafe MOSTLY because it was a more economic deal. But yes, I ordered my carafe for one and the waiter did not judge me. In fact, he encouraged it. I appreciate that! My friend ordered a bloody mary. We also asked for an extra glass so that I didn’t look like I need to enroll in AA. We then ordered our food. I got the pork hash and my friend got the polenta(see, it helps to stare at people’s food in the window). SOOOOOGOOOD! Basically, the only way you can be my friend is if you share your plates with me so that I can try everything on the menu. Shirley Y. made the cut for that reason(and she’s awesome). I’m still thinking about that pork hash. But let me tell you my favorite part. Did these beezies put green chilies in the pork hash? I mean, you have to be pretty bold to do that and be an American restaurant! It was the perfect addition. So beware if you do not like spicy food, but if you do, you will be pleasantly surprised. Next, I want to try the pancakes. But really, I want to go back and order the pork hash and I want someone else to order the pancakes so that we can share.

Besides Friday night dinner our weekend breakfast is the second most important meal of the week. I was really disappointed with our first experience at Eats. I always order coffee first for breakfast. My coffee was served in a filthy cup. I didn’t realize it until I was halfway finished and the film on the inside started coming off, bastards. We never saw the our waitress again after she took our order. My wife’s pork hash was so spicy; I don’t see any reason why they have hot sauce on the table. It was more like pork stew than pork hash. The diced potatoes on her dish were under cooked and the leeks on my dish were also under cooked. I would suggest sautéing the leeks a little longer before the rest of the ingredients. «Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes, everyone else seems to be happy.» «Everything on the menu should be good.» If they are having a off day, Saturday morning was a bad choice. Now if this is everyday, then the cooks need to be monitored and the staff needs to be supervised.

SERVICE: I want to emphasize the service I received here. It. was. amazing. The waiter was very friendly and I was very impressed with his personality. He came to our table, and put his hand on my shoulder and asked me how I was doing today. I know that not everyone likes to be touched so this could be noted as a red flag in some cases but I personally thought it was a very warm approach and it made me feel welcomed. He would throw in jokes when he checked in on his tables and was quick on the coffee refills. I did not catch him name but he was an Asian gentleman with tattoos on on his arms and legs. 5 stars for service. FOOD: The food was very tasty. I ordered the chicken and waffles(~$ 13). The chicken was prepared sort of «country fried» style. Very tender white meat and came with a side of mushroom gravy and lemon wedge. The waffles were a little burnt on the edges but it was insignificant to the overall experience. ATMOSPHERE: Ambiance was trendy. Tables and parts of the walls were covered in dark wood and the restaurant was well lit with natural lightning, giving the interior that modern, hipster vibe. OVERALL: 4 stars based off my first impressions. I will definitely come here again to see if my initial thoughts are met with consistency!

BIGFAN! Just tried this place on the advice of my friends. WOW! Only a handful of people in the place so I got a lot of attention from Jonathan who by the way couldn’t have been more fun or full of energy. He told me his three favorite items on the menu so I decided on his first favorite. The Breakfast Sandwich!(arugula, cheddar, tomatoes, spicy aioli, over-easy egg on a ciabatta bread with potatoes. I added a side of the mushroom gravy just because I wanted to taste it. SHUTTHEFRONTDOORBECAUSEDADDYISHOME! The breakfast sandwich was outstanding and I’d have it again in a heartbeat. The potatoes were cooked perfectly and enjoyed the big hunks of garlic they grilled with them. Finally the coffee… they could’ve missed the mark and made weak coffee. they again didn’t disappoint me. Solid work Eats! I will be back and have a feeling you’ll be my go to lunch stop.

Not sure why I’ve been here a few times and had all bad to mediocre experiences and keep coming back, but it’s in my neighborhood and convenient which is about the only explanation for that. Came this past Sunday during the farmers market. First, it was so hot and sunny, you need a small awning!!! We were on fire eating, so uncomfortable. Secondly, the prices are outrageous! 9 dollars for literally less that a cup of cooked oatmeal. No maple syrup, brown sugar or milk given unless you ask. Juices? 6.50 for a small cup. Seriously? Might as well drink a mimosa at that rate. Third, my oatmeal and toast were completely cold, asked for milk and brown sugar from bus boy who delivered food. He tried to tell me they didn’t have brown sugar and gave me the packets of sugar, showed up with milk after I was already finished, and I’m a pretty slooowwww eater. Although it should be a 1 star experience, our waiter was amazing, knew I was semi upset and brought a free oatmeal and was very apologetic. Although he probably thought I was beyond annoying — he played the game. Ha! He was the thin guy with a funky mustache and tattoos. 5 stars for him.

It’s been a long-time trend for casual/classy brunching in San Francisco, and this summer’s heat wave has certainly made little places like Eats even more essential. I would not travel across town to pay a visit, but I do have friends in the area, so I end up here 1 – 2 times a year. It feels independently owned and has a lot of character — unlike the mini-Chain ‘Toast Eatery’ which are popping up around San Francisco like bland little mushrooms.(Sorry. Had to get that dig in.) So, Eats is clearly a great neighborhood place, in a great neighborhood. On the weekends, there is ALWAYS a wait. But again, it’s a great neighborhood; so get your name on the list, gauge the wait time, then go for a walk. The last time I visited, there was a farmer’s market on the same block. A perfectly fine ‘wait.‘ To me, brunch means eggs, so I have only had the egg dishes. But they’re all ways perfectly prepared(i.e., eggs not too hard), and the ingredients are always varied and interesting. My go-to is the smoked salmon omelette w/cream cheese, capers, tomatoes, pickled red onions and dill. With friends, they have had the sandwiches, hotcakes, fruits, etc. All have reviewed them well. They do have beer, bubbly, and a soju Bloody Mary. But even better, they have wonderful fresh squeezed juices and juice mixes, à la the ‘Refresher’ w/cucumber, pineapple, romaine, lime.(If only I could get some vodka in that.) It’s kid-friendly. You decide if that’s a good thing or a bad thing…

I don’t understand the 3.5 star rating at all. Perhaps because there are no other American breakfast places in the entire area — no other choices or competition. This place is for you If you don’t cook & have nothing else to do all day. Why only 1 star? — The wait for a table on the weekend or a holiday is nearly 1 hour because of the lack of alternatives. It’s also a small space. — There is nothing special/unique on the menu. I dine out to have food that I won’t/can’t cook, there’s practically nothing on the menu that I cannot make myself. — To compound the 1 hour wait for a table. There were 9 people, count them NINE, who were seated after us, ordered their food, rec’d their food, ate their food, paid their check & left BEFORE our food arrived!!! I could only see half the room from our cramped seats so I’m positive that there were more than the 9 I witnessed!!! The same server seated us & still she took our order after taking the order from 5 people(2 parties) who were seated AFTER us. That doesn’t equal the time difference for receiving our food. I think our order was lost, it wasn’t noticed until they were leaving checks for other people & there was nothing done to expedite it. Bad management! Complete waste of $ 40 for brunch! — The seats we were given were ridiculously hot & sweaty, terrible conditions for any meal. It was practically in the kitchen & there is absolutely NO ventilation at all in the restaurant. It’s usually the area reserved for employees to eat their meals. — Despite the heat, the water had zero ice. We had to ask for ice or drink warm water, ick. — The hollandaise sauce for the benedict was absolutely gross! It looked like congealed cheese, disgusting! Luckily I was smart to ask for it on the side so it didn’t ruin all of the food. I had to eat the benedict without hollandaise, what is the point of that??! It was basically a dry egg mc muffin, except instead of Canadian bacon, they use cheap ham. The only reason I ate it was because it was 12:30pm(our name was on the list @ 11am!) & I was starving because I didn’t eat anything all morning. — The side of potatoes were sooo greasy! There was an oil slick on the plate & yet the potatoes lacked flavor. Only plus — the side of fruit is fresh with various kinds of fruit & berries. Gee, well that saved me some chopping time in the kitchen.

We haven’t been there in a few years and the food now has more of a Mexican slant. The size of the restaurant hasn’t changed but the staff seems a lot nicer. Our waiter, dressed in tattoos from torso, arms to toes was ultra nice. We did like our breakfasts but they’re definitely not like the traditional breakfasts you’d find. My bacon waffle had bacon sort of embedded into the waffle and they were quite generous with the thick slices of bacon. It came with a small salad. Hubby had an egg benedict and said it was OK. They have outside seating for warm weather days.

Eats always has a line or a crowd of people waiting during brunch time. They have tables outside for outdoor seating. There’s a whiteboard near the front door with a marker to write down your name and how many in your party. == Food == Asparagus and Ham Benedict. The muffin is a nice thick one that’s soft. The poached egg is done pretty well. The dish isn’t drenched in hollandaise sauce so that’s very good. The ham they have is very tasty and nicely grilled. There’s nothing special about the asparagus. It comes with potatoes or a salad. The side of bacon tastes good. There isn’t bad bacon. Cappuccino tasted alright. There’s a nice layer of frost on top. == Service == Like the other Unilocal reviews say… The service here sucks really badly. It may be because I had the outdoor table. It’s hard to get a waiter/waitress’ attention outside. My benedict came but, my cappuccino and side of bacon never came. I finished my benedict before the waitress showed up again. Should’ve just canceled the missing items, but I still wanted them. Also when paying, I got the check from my waitress and gave her my credit card. Then another waitress comes out to give me the check again for some reason. Then a waiter comes out with my charge slip a few seconds later. Talk about disorganized. == Overall == The food is pricey, but decent. It’s not worth the money since the service is very lousy. I would suggest getting on seat on the inside. Things may be better inside. Bad service ruins a meal.

EATS has been one of my go to spots for brunch for several years now and I’m surprised that I haven’t written a review sooner. When I first came here there was some type of dish on the menu which I LOVED, some vegetarian sandwich I think that they don’t have anymore and I’m just sad that I don’t remember what it was. I’m never disappointed whenever I come here and one of my new goals for EATS is to try to eat something new everytime I come here. So far the favorites have been: Waffle bacon(bacon is actually pressed inside the waffle) Tuna Melt Side of Potatoes with big pieces of roasted garlic(love the garlic!) Granted, there are still many other things I need to try on the menu and some things that I’ve forgotten from previous visits but I’m excited to come back again. They also serve half sized portions for some of their menu items but in my opinion, that’s not entirely worth it when the price of the half sized portion for some is only $ 1 – 3 less than the price of the regular size portion and then you only get half the size of the dish. My recommendation — get the regular sized dish and save half for later if you can’t finish
