Cheap. Hong Kong Style Café. Love their happy hour deals because it’s so cheap and worth it ! $ 3.50 for beef stew noodle soup? HECKYES! The waitresses can be rude because that’s their attitude and they don’t get paid enough. So, be prepared to deal with their stubborn attitude when you seat yourself down at this café. P.S they called their business name to «Sam Rong Café» now.

This place is Always a hit or miss. I’ve come to this restaurant here and there and this place was the spot to go to for cheap food. Recent years this place has gone down the drain completely or I just never noticed that it’s been down the drain for awhile. the best thing here that always tasted the same was their watermelon juice or iced lemon tea. However, it bothered me that one worker didn’t rinse the pitcher before making my drink. Who knows how long that pitcher was there with the remaining watermelon juice in it. The food is affordable however almost Everytime I’ve ate here, majority of the time there was an ingredient that didn’t belong. I’ve found hair, flies, glass(yes, fking glass) and tape/plastic in my food. With that being said I have not ever received an apology and all that was done to compensate was nothing. The time I found glass in my bfs food, we told the waitress and all she did was look at it, examine it, stare at it and said oh my god about 5 times and walked away. Every single time we told any waitress about something that was in our food, all they do is look at it and take it away. No one ever apologized or tried to offer something else or bothered to replace it(though we wouldn’t even want it). Since that day I don’t believe we ever came back for any food. Some of the food does taste really good but I would prefer somewhere else that at least would apologize and try to make up for gross additives in the food. Water melon juice is always delicious tho. But some waitresses don’t rinse the pitcher which is gross to me because I don’t know how long they have left it open sitting there. Iced lemon tea is good there as well but I wouldn’t recommend eating here too often unless you don’t mind a possibility of bugs, hair, plastic and«soso» service here.

Not sure where to report it, but there was a rat in the smaller women’s restroom. I told the lady who worked at the front counter. She just acknowledged by saying«o», but no apologies or any reaction. I expected her to go tell someone to try to catch it. There was no other customers, and she continued to stay in the same spot.

Five stars because of the tremendous value. I ordered a meal«I» which consisted of pork chop, chicken steak, fish steak, AND Spaghetti with meat sauce, all for under $ 10 before tax.

Formerly known as DNA Café. Cheap price, yummy food. Nothing fancy. Typical Chinese café, but with food that actually tastes good.

My partying and younger days are a distant-memory. Normally I would infrequently eat anything past 8pm. See, being old helps you become selectively wiser and canny. You will find out when you get older. «Don’t believe me, just watch… ugh!» With the change of ownership(s), the restaurant’s name and many of you have read from my «Quick Tip», the Hong Kong-style restaurant has added a Happy-hour special from 2pm-6pm and 10pm-1am(closing time). Many of the dishes from the HH’s specials are under $ 5.00, which is $ 2-$ 3.00 below the regular price. With those special zones, I needed to sacrifice myself and try the late night specials. First, I was here and had the Chicken Chow fun. The pasta dish comprised of stir-fry wide noodles, chicken pieces, onions and bean sprouts. This dish is great after a night of drinking. And surprisingly, the pasta dish isn’t too oily and tasted decent for $ 5.00. Then I came back a few weeks later, again at 10pm. This time I ordered the Singapore-style rice noodles, which had stir-fry rice noodles, pieces of barbecue pork, shrimp, bean sprouts and a touch of curry. The pork looked old, gray and did not tasted fresh. Plus, I do not like shrimp and scrape the shellfish aside. Some of the dishes can be a hit or miss. But for under $ 5.00, I get what I paid for. Most likely I would come back and try other dishes as well. «Cash only».

This place is usually open until 1am, so it’s an awesome place to come in late(hint hint after a night of dranks). The best thing about this restaurant are the prices. Many of the dishes are super cheap, and they have a deal where you can get 3 plates of family style side dishes(e.g. beef omelette) for $ 21. That deal also comes with rice! In terms of taste, it’s nothing special and you won’t get blown away with the taste, but it’s not awful either. You will likely come eat here because the food comes out fast and is cheap. Note: this place only accepts cash(boo)

This is a typical Chinese«fast food» restaurant with a small bakery. Nothing spectacular, but if you want a quick bite and cheap prices, this is the place. The staff here can come across a bit rough but given the noisy ambiance and high demands from the diners here, it’s understandable. This place is cash only.

2 stars for mango tapioca. We were waiting on the front long time, we were ignored by all the workers until we had to ask somebody if we can sit. After we sat we had to wait again another 20 minutes until we grabbed a waitress to take our order. She was snappy and didn’t want to explain anything. Food came out fast and was tasteless. Rice was dry felt like it was reheated. After we done with food, we went to pay in the front. Lady who was in the front was very rude and asked us to leave tips which we alreAdy left on the table. I will never come here again.

I don’t recall the last time I walked out a restaurant after ordering. I’ve heard this place got a lot of bad reviews and never thinks that this will happen to me since I’m a well seasoned Chinese restaurant goer with a low level of expectation and speak the language. I’ve to confessed; I’m so wrong! This is a lesson to be learn when the waitress doesn’t even give you a menu after you have park your ass in the chair for quit sometimes with no water or menu its time to hit the door. This is only the beginning when the place is not busy with 25% full. Everytime I’m here there is a strange vibe between the waitress as if they want to kill each other. I sense that they don’t want to help each others by having contact with the customers other then the assigned tables. No team work involve; if a customer ask for something and that’s not their table they feel like being cheated or something if they help you. My waitress is kind of new, I’ve never seen her before. After taking the order our food never arrive and we’ve observed that many people who came like 30 mins later then us got their food like less then 10min. Oh hell, we asked” Where’s our food?” She made some lame excuse saying there’s only one chef today which really doesn’t explain why there’s a whole lot of customer who came after us got served and also got a menu. I suspect the order was never put in. She never tells us to wait just a little longer or apologize. I would have still wait if she told me the truth that she forgot. I was so hungry but I just walk out angry instead. They are insulting by ignoring you. No attempt to remedy the situation. Even when I left the place it was not full. But a lot of tables were not clean, dirty dishes sitting around as if to tell the customers that they don’t give a shit.

Their food is SO good! So affordable! We were looking for this place since the first day we stepped foot onto San Francisco but didn’t find it until the last day we stayed. So unfortunate!

The prices are extremely cheap because of the quality of the food. Don’t go in there with high expectations because you will be let down. I don’t think I’ll go here again after my experience with them today. I got there and everyone is arguing for a table so being a non-Chinese speaker I had to wait a good while before a table cleared and I was the only one! I would recommend taking someone that will be able to better communicate with the employees there. The food was not the best, the menu isn’t very clear and communication being an issue I just kind of hoped for the best with my food. The beef with broccoli was probably the only edible thing. I think I got some fried beef which was too oily and far too salty for my liking. The meat in the curry didn’t even look good, more fat than actual meat. The sauce was too thick with very little flavor. The rice was okay and the seaweed soup was exceptional. The food made me extremely sick and I recommend you don’t even bother going there if you’re not used to eating sketchy meat. Service isn’t great but I’m not complaining about it. For the price, you shouldn’t expect much from there and they do prioritize Asian folks.

If my shirt sleeves did’nt stick to the table and I had got my soda before I had to beg… maybe a extra star only and I repeat only because of their prices for what you get… I suggest TAKEOUT

If you’re hungry during their happy hour, you’ll love this place! Here’s the deal, this place is not R&G lounge, in fact, far from it. Here’s why this place gets a 5 star from me(during happy hour) 1) Price: 3.50 for wonton noodle soup? Yes please! 2) Portions: For the price, you get enough food to share or take home! 3) Taste: everything is yummy! Maybe I’m biased because of the price. Ok basically this place is 5 stars because of the price. If you come here expecting clean bathrooms, fast and friendly service, valet parking, this is not your place. If you’re looking for a place to eat like a king and pay like a peasent, this is the place for you.

Great deals and although this is far from«Fine Dining,» it’s a pretty good late night outlet for Chinese comfort food. I love their Salt and Pepper Prawns and all of their other Salt and Pepper items. We always get the deep fried flounder and the variety is endless. Last night the fried squab was quite good, vegetarian options are profuse, service is quick and the Manager is quite friendly and helpful. They have late night«happy hour» pricing which extends to other times of day. You can’t really go wrong and if if you did, it didn’t cost much in the first place so as they say in Hawaii(?) — «Minor Brah.» Mynah Bird? Whatevers … a great late night trashy, tasty food option on Broadway off Chinatown.

This review is of one thing: the fresh watermelon juice. It’s possibly the best possible thing to consume on a hot day. Fresh watermelon, thrown in a blender with some ice so it’s crisp and cold, and served with boba(if you want) for $ 1.99(cash only). Sign. Me. Up. It’s seasonal, so get it while you can!

It’s the same food like at Skyline Café! I had the Chicken Steak with mushroom sauce and spaghetti. The chicken steak with mushroom sauce was so good that I didn’t want to take it home to eat for leftovers. It was like having thousand island and tomato sauce together. The Black Pepper Udon with chicken and veggies was so good that it was the meal to die for. It wasn’t spicy as you think. It was just right. I would definitely either ordering those two items again!

Time: 3:07pm/70°F partly sunny Purpose: The other day, I just miss out on HH prices of 10am-11am. Wasn’t that important, I’m sure another opportunity will come around. Ambiance: Nothing much has change from previous Man Kee Café. Flatscreen tv are kept and contour family booth seating are kept. Ceramic floor tiles are the same as before. Front end has this hot pink coat of paint while rest of place is glossy off-white with wooden plank strip mounted. Center dining area with the same round tables, but wooden cushion chairs. Gone are the neon yellow cushion chairs matching wall paint of yesterday. That basically says it all, very minimal effort use to differentiate itself. Can be loud and busy when place is at capacity. Places like this reminds me of the fabulous 80s, were you buy a box of pastries comes in a pink box with pinkish twine. Staff: Three ladies ranging from mid 20s to early 50s. Upon entering, I wasn’t ask how many to a table? Typical Chinese place, I didn’t expect them to anyways. Sat myself down while grabbing set of menu. Young one with chestnut hair tint was friendly and helpful. While the older ones seems grumpy complaining this and that. Can’t understand, but voice tone and facial expressions says otherwise. No one came around to refill my tea, but refill neighboring table. I guess I look mix so, its not as important to them. Better think again as, I speak 5 – 6 languages. Finally, I had to waive down waitress while she had pot in hand going around. Cleanliness: Grade B-, front counter disorganized, it had cases of soda and vendor bills strewn around. Personal clothing article left on top counter. Yellow pages phone book were abundance. Some dates back to 2008, I’m thinking they use it as booster chairs for kids. Vinyl menu sleeves had grease stains, I grab one and made hand greasy. The utensil were drop off angrily with force. Not clean at all, it had filthy pieces of onions stuck on fork. Eats/Drinks: Chicken wings 8pcs/$ 4.99 and Mandarin pork noodle soup $ 3.50. Wings were salt/pepper dried style as I was told. Meh, they were anything, but that. Seems like a bag of frozen wings microwave to thaw season then fried. I was afraid center would show red blood. To my surprise it wasn’t. Clap, clap you just score a star base on that. Now, if my paw paw was alive she would’ve made her version of salt/pepper wings similar to San Tung, but way better. Mandarin soup was ok, it had pleasing flavor, but msg was tasted immediately from the start. Skinny egg noodle were just the right amount cook perfectly. The pork sliver pieces seems fairly decent and meat tenderizer got the best of them. First couple of slurps soup tasted alright. Halfway into it, I let go couldn’t do more without a numb tongue feeling. Walking around feeling thirsty afterwards. Main Features: HH starting price of $ 3.50 to $ 4.99 and pick any three dishes for $ 21.99. Products/Services: Noodle, porridge, rice, rice noodle, egg noodle, stir fry, pan fry, fried rice, chow mein/fun vegetarian, chicken, beef, pork, fish, soup, frog, liver, pig stomach, skewer, salt & pepper, roasted, curry, walnut prawn. HH from daily three times: 10am-11am/3−6pm/10pm-1am. No substitution or alteration. Punch Lines: Snooty service, family booth, pleasing flavors, inexpensive, drool-worthy, plenty of seats, harried staff, easy night out, always buzzing, quirky, laid back, lackluster ambiance, kitschy décor, light bites, can’t go wrong, nothing out of the ordinary, occasional spotty service, kept its standards, satisfactory. Tradeoffs: Some dishes are up to $ 3 off during HH same dish seen for dinner. You may want to eat during HH to save a few bucks versus dinner time. Final Thoughts: I didn’t expect much from this place anyways. From the days of Broadway Café, Man Kee Café, it has always serve the same similar dishes. Only reason I swing by was the attractive HH prices that got me curious. I’ll stop by every now and then just for those deals, but thats as far as I’ll go. Satisfaction with little damage to wallet is how I like it. Just wish they would’ve more manners treating customers with dignity.
