Read and feel my pain. I work in SF Downtown and been walking by this place every now and then, yesterday my wofe went there for couple drinks with her colleagues and asked if I can join after work. I came at 5 pm and by that time they were already finishing and the bill was $ 120, they left $ 20 tip. I made a comment about how big of a table they had, it was very wide and could fit 10 – 11 people, wife colleagues said that when they got there waitress said — sit wherever you want. I ordered my supercheesburger(which comes in a submarine bun instead of regular bun) and it was ok. Also ordered 2 pitchers of beer for me and the team(3 people), guiness on tap at Irish bar — $ 22, i ordered additional fries but waitress completely forgot about me brcause the place started becoming crowded and they only have one waitress. At the time we finished it was 6pm and I wanted to pay but had to wait 20 min for her to bring my check, she never appeared so I had to go look for her. When I found her I paid at the spot with cc and left no tip for a couple of reasons(first is that I wasn’t happy with the service and second is that I usually leave tip for time the waitress spend on serving me — that was about 2 – 3 minutes total) She looked at the check and started screaming on me literally: why you did not put any tip? You can not do that, you have to put at least 20%. You have a lot of people there and its included! I said that I’m only paying for my own stuff and that the team came there early and paid already and left tips(less that 20% but she did not say anything to them). She ended up saying that I also should leave tip because we had the best table around and that because of NBA finals game is today and its for sure a tip time. BTW the game just started and we were leaving. I did not want to do that because of the attitude she had, and she went to our table making me a scroudge in front of the company of my wife and 2 colleagues of her. That was something. So I ended up leaving 11.50 as a tip to my 53 dollar single bill. All the way home I felt bad and my whole rest of the day was in the bad mood because of her. I even wanted to call that place today and ask if they can cancel my tip from that transaction, but guess what — the guy who finally picked up the phone(I was calling several times yesterday and today) started yelling on me: «Who are you? What do you want? I can’t understand a word you’re saying! « So I hanged up, I guess I will never return, despite I like Irish places and beer. It was like someone on the street was pushing me aggresively to give them money. The waitress is short thick lady in her 50’s I guess.

My server was Adel and she was AMAZING! Best customer service. She was alway checking in to see if I needed anything and always with a smile. She also had the best advice about my upcoming trip to Ireland. Such a sweet sweet woman! I had two pints and the steak which was more than enough and was content when I left.

Service was horrible, drinks weren’t good, food was average. Was here on a Tuesday evening, place was not busy at all. 3 of us arrived an hour after the rest of our group and even though we were separate from the group, waitress would not give us a separate check, and she was extremely rude about it. Food was nothing special. WAY overpriced. Through the night I ordered 3 blue moons. First one had a lemon(who puts a lemon in a blue moon?) and the other 2 had no garnish. Paid more than I should have for a basic beer that they couldn’t even serve correctly. Waitress rarely checked on us and we sat there for a solid half hour waiting for our check. Don’t go here, there are much, much better places in SF to go to for these prices.

I stopped by on my way to a movie at the Embarcadero theaters Tuesday night after work. I wish the«lunch» specials extended into the evening because they have prime rib on Tuesdays, but then it is the Financial District, so lunch is the focus. I settled on the French Dip sandwich which was fantastic! Au Jus was not salty at all and had a deep beefy flavor. The roast beef was tender and not overcooked, which happens at many other restaurants. Fries were fresh, hot and perfectly cooked. I had to eat a little fast to get to the earlier movie, but I will DEFINITELYBEBACK to take more time to enjoy my future meals here. The waitress was also great. She was very attentive, taking care of tables both inside and outside with a very pleasant and friendly manner.

Went here for happy hour last Friday with some coworkers. The drinks were great, but the service was FANTASTIC. Our server Ally was«classy as sh**». She was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent advice about the menu. I’d go back just to see her! Giving four stars instead of 5 because the french fries are only about a 5 out of 10 on the goodness scale.

Great bartenders, killer food. If you’re looking for a chill bar to visit(as opposed to a Tapas place or a fancy restaurant) while in the financial district, this should the top of your list.

STPATRICK’S DAYSPECIAL — CORNEDBEEFANDCABBAGE There are different daily specials on the menu. On the daily special for Thursday is corned beef and cabbage, which is fitting as today is St Patrick’s Day. Last year on St. Patrick’s Day I ordered corned beef and cabbage at Irish Times. I ate at Harrington’s Bar and Grill today for lunch. Inside the restaurant was packed full of customers. I was fortunate to get a seat at the bar. There was also traditional Irish music and dancing for festivities. I wanted to have a simple meal for lunch. I ordered corned beef and cabbage and a pint of Guinness. The corned beef I had at Harrington’s was more delicious and tender than the corned beef I had at Irish Times last year. This isn’t the best corned beef I had but it was still more than satisfying especially on St. Patrick’s Day. Having a pint of Guinness to wash down the corned beef and cabbage was refreshing. Corned beef and cabbage with a pint of Guinness is an ideal lunch on St. Patrick’s Day. «Beannachtam na Feile Padraig!» That’s Gaelic for Happy St. Patrick’s Day.

Man. Harrington’s is a really good bar in the heart of the financial district. My go to spot for a liquid lunch on those shitty work days. Old school Irish bar All the bartenders here are super nice. and heavy handed. Also, the burgers here are surprisingly good. Pretty basic, straightforward burgers, but man, they’re good.

Come eat and drink here if you want a side of attitude with your order. Waitress said«It’s not pick and choose of the menu.» It better be, particularly when I am the customer. Good thing she yelled at my friend and not me.

After two lunches, I have to say the entrees are not worth the price tag. Both my lunch entrees — the cajun halibut, and the chicken & rice — clocked in at $ 15 each. The halibut was over done and on the drier side. The cajun spices did help improve the taste some, but it remained a pretty bland dish on the whole. The steamed veggies and the fries helped pick up the rear. The next lunch entrée of Chicken and Rice tasted like a decent cafeteria meal of roasted chicken with a nondescript side of fried rice. The half chicken was not all that flavourful and the splash of thai ‘mae ploy’ on it was jarring; thankfully the chicken wasn’t dried out and was reasonably moist. The egg fried rice was bland and nothing to write home about. The side of vegetables in both entrees were decent.

Waited 45 minutes and never got our food. Probably because they’re so busy, but still. Hungry and now need to find another restaurant. Plus, on a side note, when it’s so busy it’s probably not a good idea to have an employee taking a whole table to review receipts — while she’s drinking a glass of wine. Those tables are needed for customers! Get up!

I guess we should have known. We knew we were going into a 3 star zone. But, in our experience, we’d give it 2 stars. The food was delayed 30 minutes. The pitcher beer only made 3.5 pours and cost more than buying individual pints. The beer and food selection is basic. Per my wife, «the bathroom is gross,» and that’s coming from a girl who grew up in the Malaysian jungle for 18 years. BUT, judging from the crowd, this is a popular spot.

Yahtzee! There were 2 handsome elderly gentlemen sitting on the table next to us playing this old fashion dice game. They looked liked local regulars that might had grown up with this restaurant. In fact, the majority of the patrons looked like they grew up with Harrington’s. This is probably a place they can call their extended homes… Sorta like«Cheers», where everyone knows your name. My first time stepping into this establishment and it felt very warm, dark, woody, traditional and I swear I smelled Old Spice in the air. It looked like a good place to get a tall glass of frosty beer and nuts. But we came for lunch during our work day, so, no beer for us this time! After the waitress told us to sit where ever we wanted, we checked out the menu. They serve your typical sandwiches, burgers and salads. So, I picked the roast beef special that was scribbled in chalk on the wall. When it came out, my eyes were bugged out from the massive meat that was sitting on the plate. I was not expecting that. My roast was okay, I wanted horse radish but the waitress never came back to check on us. I only ate half of the meat and brought the rest home and attempted to re-heat it. It turned rubbery and decided not to eat it. But it didn’t go to waste, the meat turned into my dogs feast for dinner that night! If I ever return, it will be for their beer selections and not for roast beef. Cheers!

Attended a private party here. It is a very loud bar, and because the party was well attended it was impossible to hear anyone, even if they were standing right next to me. The bartenders were hopping, but I never had to wait more than three minutes to get a drink. Kudos to management for staffing the party well. The food was decent pub grub. Quesedilla. Bowls of nuts. Vegetable platters. Calamari plates. Sushi plates. Etc. Overall, a nice job by Harringtons playing host to a big, crowded party. Now, if I only know sign language…

3.5 stars — while quite a few FiDi restaurants were closed today — Harrington was opened. No expectations — only wanted a cold one and maybe a bit to eat. Guinness here is $ 8 a pint — not sure why more expensive than other drafts. French dip w/fries and bowl of clam chowder were both good and served fast and piping hot. Kudos to the guy who is fast and efficient in cleaning up tables — great help to the one waitress who is a bit slow and lost at times.

Stopped in as I wanted a different spot than I had been the previous two nights and should have gone back to another spot. Did not have Gentleman Jack, so settled for another drink and the sandwich I ordered, grilled chicken, was dry and had more bread than meat. The bar looked to be hopping but cleared out by 7:30. Do not see me coming back unless I want to try the appetizers ruin happy hour.

Decent lunch specials. I ordered the ½lb burger(medium) w/a side of fries. Burger was cooked and still medium. The bun was the typical egg bun. Nothing crazy. Try to get there early as the lunchtime crowd does pick up!

Harrington’s is CRAZY for St. Patty’s day! They have lots of security defending the patio area to make sure the place doesn’t get overrun with thirsty folks. This is a prime drinking location and the people are all very fun, even on days not on March 17th.

I was looking for a decently priced meal and drinks before I flew back home from my business trip in the city. After walking by a few overpriced and what seemed to look like trendy restaurants, I stumbled into Harringtons. I literally stumbled into the restaurant. Then the music stopped and everyone looked at me like in one of those tv shows where some guy stumbles awkwardly into a bar and the music stops and everyone looks at them. That actually didn’t happen. I don’t think that’s ever happened in the history of bars and people walking in awkwardly. I don’t know if i can trust tv anymore. Anyhoo…what drew me in was the $ 17NY steak special as well as $ 5 house wines. When I got in, I pulled up a seat at the bar and was greeted by the bartender. I noticed she had an Irish accent, which for some reason I thought was odd but then thought about it more and realized it made a lot of sense considering I was in an Irish bar. Then I heard the other waitress speak and she too had an Irish accent. Then a patron came in and he told the bartender that he was from Ireland. I’ve never been to Ireland but I think that was the closest I’ve come. Two bartenders and a customer all from Ireland hanging out and drinking Irish beer at an Irish pub. That, to me, told me that this was a pretty legit and authentic Irish pub. I ordered the steak and wine and got a side of chili. The chili was pretty good. Too many beans for my preference but that’s just me. Real hearty though. A bowl of that could probably be a meal for most. The steak was pretty decent sized. It was cooked medium rare upon my request and came with a side of steamed veggies and french fries. The steak lacked a little flavor but nothing a little A-1 couldn’t fix. It was a really big meal, which I completely devoured being the fat a$$ that I am. Even the bartender commented after I finished saying that she was wondering if I would be man enough to finish the entire meal. She didn’t say it in those exact words but I know that’s what she meant. I showed her!!! Overall I really enjoyed my visit here. Not the fanciest or trendiest place but it got the job done. Got a good meal at a pretty decent price. And to me it felt like i was in Ireland which was cool to me.

Came here on a Saturday with a group of 8 for some day drinking. The service was so slow that we decided to just have our one beer and go, even though we were planning on ordering lunch. The place was mostly empty too, and the servers were busy flirting rather than actually working. There are so many wonderful bars and restaurants in San Francisco– this one just came up short.
