What a sour last day… Door people had such attitude, they know why! Thanks for ruining it! I was a loyal 20 yr customer who didn’t get stamped to go outside for fresh air. Then I have attitude after showing pics with dates that I was already in there. They did not stamp me or offer a stamp. I do like the terrific bartenders! XOXO!!!

Closing for good this week! Their last day of service will be on Thursday, April 30th. While I can’t say I’ll miss this place very much, I’m glad I got dragged out here a few times by my lady friends. I feel like I just went through a TSA inspection after a visit here except the agents are lesbians groping me with their eyes instead. I’ve learned my lesson now: don’t go to the Lex without making sure everything matches. Socks too! Then I can confidently shake my tail feathers without wondering what the double takes are about. Cash only. The drinks are very strong. You’ll be glad they are.

A few years ago, this was the first place I took a fellow gay friend to. Tonight, we were refused entry and told that only lesbians could enter. My LGBT friends and I weren’t able to give him the proper bookend to SF. :-\

What would life be without The Lex. The crowd with good spirits, willing to share their lighter and fun to play pool with. The events they put on(at least that I have attended) have been well-attended with folks from all walks of life and places. MUST visit before they close — I heard there is going to be an event to recount memorable visits in the Lex«One Night at the Lex» on April 2 just goes to show how Lex isn’t ‘just a bar’ but a strong community!

Fucking love the Lex. I am the person who comes here and plays the entire Fleetwood Mac Rumor’s album on the Juke. YOUAREALLWELCOME. But seriously, such a hole in the wall gem, great crowd, cheap strong drinks, and AWESOME staff. Breaks my heart that it’s closing. The Lexington is the quintessential definition of every single thing a dive bar should be. To the people with the negative reviews? Don’t be a fucking asshole and tip your bartenders what they deserve. The Lex favors their regulars. And they have every right to. You’d be pretty salty too if yuppies came in and treated your bar staff like shit. If you’re reading the reviews and debating whether or not to check this place out, don’t. It is a SANFRANCISCOLEGEND. LONGLIVETHELEX.

Was recommended to come here, sounded like a good place but as soon as I walked in it was very grouped up and felt unwelcomed. I decided to get a drink and the bartender was very forceful for a tip and my drink was too strong ! won’t be coming back.

I sent my friend this texts as I was waiting at the bar: «Are you particular to this place because it’s the worst people watching experience I’ve ever had and the music sucks.» «Most of the people here are just standing in circles talking and then there’s an occasional 40+ lesbian swaying off beat» Towards the end of the night the same ’40+ lesbian’ I had been watching as I sent that text came over to introduce themselves as the owner of the bar. That’s not really accurate, she didn’t introduce herself. We were looking bewilderedly at some of the worst dancing I had ever seen, and she asked if we had ever been to a gay bar before because we looked confused. That’s it. It wasn’t the strict top 40 music or young girls jumping aimlessly offbeat, it was the gayness. We were late twenty-somethings who had never been to a gay bar. With that kind of condescending attitude towards the club’s flaws it’s no wonder this place is closing.

Glad this place is closing for good. Extremely rude bartenders and downright disrespectful service. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so unwelcome at an establishment. I understand that it is a dive bar, but I expect a little bit of common decency when dealing with paying customers.

I really enjoyed the music and would totally go back. The staff were nice and the ambiance was very casual — it’s really a dive bar. It’s too bad the place is closing. I really think the lack of continued success here is that the place is not in a high traffic gay area — it’s really off the beaten path. If they were to relocate the Castro or at least nearby, it would probably survive and perhaps thrive.

And so I must review the Lex, the only SF bar devoted to lesbians — queers in general for the whole Mission District — and about to close after eighteen some-odd years due to raising rents. The concept itself is sad, yes. I had fun during my short visit with my other dude. Consumed a Blueberry Smash like nobody’s business. No seats were available — packed that night. But, SF Pride continues to grow. While it may have previously been a necessity before for specific«gay only» locations awhile back, such epic figures as Harvey Milk have paved the way to make it possible to coexist nearly anywhere in the city and go unnoticed. That’s the whole point, right? To be who you already are and not have people turn their faces in disgust??? Will still search for further gay friendly spots in existence that remain. I only wish I got a shot inside Esta Noche.

Maybe if they were nice to the lesbians who came here that had brushed their hair and taken the time to put makeup on, then just maybe I’d like to come here. Unfortunately, every time my wife and I walk in I am greeted with scowls and dirty looks the entire night. The only nice person at this bar is Chloe and that is the only reason that we will continue to go to this bar. Also because it’s like, the only lesbian bar in SF. Oh and ALSO, when we bring our gay male friends, you should be NICE to them! They are on your team and certainly not interested in dating your girlfriend.

This is a nice little lesbian bar off of Mission. I like it, but if you’re not a regular or coming in solo prepare to be ignored by the regulars. The bartender was super nice and attentive, but this is not a place to go if you’re looking to make new friends.

First lesbian bar– ok! Upon walking in, me and a straight couple was given a bit of the look, but not in a negative sort of way. We sat our self and started to people watch as we would in any other bar while we waited for our friends. We’re here clearly for our girlfriend to get some action.:) The«talent» at the bar were mostly justin beiber look alike, which was very disappointing to me(I just like pretty things, ok)… However the bartender’s niceness made up for the lack of talents.

I walked in here without realizing it was a girl bar. They were nice to me and I am grateful for that. It’s a cute bar. The bartender was friendly. The music was good. If I was a girl I would go here more often.

Nice, little bar. Bartender was super nice and the place had a good vibe. Prices were reasonable, had a water container out and a pool table along with good music. As a visitor I felt welcome. Would go back!

Call me a hipster, but I like this place. The drinks are strong and cheap, the jukebox always has good stuff playing and the crowd is usually fun. They have pool during off hours, and a dance party when you’d expect it. And, I love that this is *our* place – never had a problem with creepers coming in looking a show. Good, clean, dyky fun.

If you want to hear lesbian tourists complain, go to the Lexington Unilocal page. If you live in the Bay Area, and you want a consistent queer dive bar that will never charge a cover, go to the Lexington and grab a drink. You now have a second home. Seriously, who walks into a bar and expects the everyone to introduce themselves? Just like everywhere else, this bar has no welcoming committee– just sit at the bar and make friends naturally. There are all types of people– lesbian, gay, straight, transmen, transwomen, nonbinary folks, butches, femmes, dykes, megababes, etc. The amazing staff of bartenders are all very friendly– currently there are no a-hole bartenders, which is nice. I can definitely agree that the bar can be intimidating at first. But relax, no one is looking at you or judging you for your haircut. If you like crowds, come during one of their Saturday parties. If you like a more chill setting, come on a weekday or in the afternoon. Dog-friendly, as long as they get along with others. Free pool and $ 1PBR on Mondays. You can pretty much dominate the jukebox on the weekdays but don’t play Phil Collins or Natalie will get mad.

The Lexington Club is a dive bar catering to the lesbian and queer scene! It was briefly featured in Showtimes The Real L Word. So when we arrived for our night out in SF I felt right at home. The jukebox played some great tunes while some gals were racking it up at the pool table. There are quite a few tables which all seemed to be pretty full with a bunch of gorgeous gals. Although I don’t drink I do like a great place to hang and the Lexington Club is definitely one of them. Like Liz said the bartender is definitely eye candy and we had a great time chillin!

I’m from a place where«the only lesbian bar in the city» is a really lame place everyone tries to avoid. I initially thought the Lexington would be like that, but this place is actually really rad. The bartenders are great, the drinks are strong, and the events are always a ton of fun. It seems like the Lex is really good at being in touch with the young queer scene. Also! They are dog friendly! It is possible this is by a case by case basis(if they like you or not), but it’s really nice to be able to walk in with my dog poking out of my bag and they’re fine with it. Yesss!
