The popusas and Atol de elote is good too; however the service needs improvement. My father had to go downstairs to ask for a waiter. Really slow service. Only come here if you have time.

I agree their pupusas are good but the kitchen & waitresses need to have better comunication between them. My uncle oredered an extra pupsa revelta & we never got it at our table much less to go. I ordered 4 pupusas de queso to go & the other waitress took them & served them at her table & they wanted me to wait 10 minutes because of their mistake & lack of comunication. Sopa de maricos sucked, siete mares at Reinas is the bomb. chicaron needed some flavor. nuegados tasted like flour not yuca or cheese they looked like zeppoli italian donuts or beignets french donuts

I’m not happy writing this review:(so I use to order pupusas and sopa de pata here often due to my pregnancy cravings. I would call and order for pick up, on this day I requested the same thing Sopa de pata with pata only and no pansa, the lady who answered said it was impossible and she couldn’t do it with pata only. I told her I had been ordering the same soup same requests for the past 5 weekends and that’s what I was given. She replies it’s not her decision and that she doesn’t serve the soup. I told her I was a paying customer and how I enjoyed their food, however, she replied with an attitude and very rude that she just wasn’t going to do it. I told her that she was losing a loyal customer and she replied that she didn’t care and that she didn’t want my business anyways. I was shocked and couldn’t believe this woman’s attitude. I maintained my composure on the phone and said thank you. I won’t be returning!

Authentic to the bone n masa. This place doesn’t serve alcohol n is not known in the Excelsior for the service. The Food!!! Makes this place a steady go to for authentic Salvadoren cuisine.

Pupusas de arroz. A unique variation of the pupusa that they have perfected. Seating is limited, downstairs. Plenty of seating upstairs!

The Pupusas here are great!!! I’ve been to other places and their Pupusas are not as authentic as the ones in here. The cheese is actually pretty good and their salsa is bomb too. The costumer service is not the best but I can’t complain either.

These ladies need to step up their crap attitude. Poor service day in and day out, over the phone and in person. I checked the health score today, they were graded a little over a week ago. A solid 84, on a big red poster. Dirty looking and now we know they have dirty food. On a positive note, regardless of what’s in the pupusas, they are pretty delicious, so they earn themselves 2 stars in my opinion.

Let me just start off with this: I’ve eaten here for years. My family and I believed these were the best pupusas around. It was our favorite spot… Until last night. We ordered pupusas for the family and we were all extremely disappointed. We all noticed one thing, something smelled awfully wrong with the pupusas. We shrugged it off and began eating. We all notice another thing, the cheese tasted rotten. Extremely rotten and old. After that, the whole family had awful food poisoning for a week. I can’t say I’ll be returning to this place. Extremely disappointing.

Best Atol de Elote! Sweet, Creamy and the perfect amount of corn kernels! My fave pupusas(Staying away from Pork) are the Loroco, Cheese and Bean Pupusas! Their«ensalada» drink(not a salad) that they serve on the weekends is a refreshing fresh fruit drink that has Salvadorean fruit and flavors! YUM Empanadas de leche!(Dessert) Definitely worth the cheat meal! Ive been coming here since 2002! Still my favorite place in SF

This is the spot to go to when you want pupusas. I have been coming here for years whether it’s eating in their upstairs area listenibg to some cumbia or ordering ahead of time for pick up. They are made to order and are delicious. I usually get pupusas revueltas de maiz(corn flour, beans, shredded pork and cheese) i can eat 2 of those and I am stuffed! Complete this with some curtido(pickled cabbage) and salsa and you’re set! The pastel is really good too which is like a turnover filled with delicious meat inside .just typing this is making me drool… make sure you bring cash because its cash only. If you’re feeling spontaneous and want a salvadorian drink try the ensalada drink which has green apple, red apple, little bits of lettuce, marañon, mango, and mamey. Sooo good/LOTS OFFLAVOR!

The short version. GOOD: Btwn this Pupuseria & the adjacent bakery, I’ve found my Salvadorian fix! :) BAD: I see weight gain in my future O_o The long version. FOOD — Pupusa are fried thick corn tortillas with fillings quite similar to arepas. The pupusas at Los Planes De Renderos are deliciously flavorful, nice & cheesy, and the exterior is not greasy. An order of pupusa comes with a side of curtido(cabbage slaw) and homemade salsa. I tried 3 different ones and they well all quite good! — Pupusa de Chicharron y Queso(shredded pork + cheese) — my favorite! — Pupusa Revuelta(shredded pork + cheese + beans) — a bit salty — Pupusa de Queso y Loroco(cheese + loroco) — Interesting since I didn’t know what loroco was but had ordered it because it was recommended. Loroco is an edible flower. It’s good, I just prefer meat filling: P AMBIANCE — As other Unilocalers have commented, this place is a bit dive-y. When you step in there are 3 small tables and a partial view of the kitchen. There’s a stairway that leads to more seating on the 2nd floor. While the interior may not be impressive, the food will more than make up for it. It’s often these mom & pop shops that have the most authentic food so order yours to go. SERVICE — I called ahead to place an order and it was ready in 20min. The lady who took my order was friendly and gave me recommendations on their popular pupusas. PARKING — a bit difficult to find parking but the food is well worth the hassle TIPS — — CASHONLY! — Check out the Salvadorian bakery next door — good pastries especially the tres leche!

Been coming here for years. These are as close to my Abuelas(grandmother) Pupusas as it gets. Less than $ 2 for a Pupusas. I always call ahead and order for pick up. They are made to order so it is a wait. Must try they are the real deal.

This place is incredibly dive-y. The upstairs dining room is dark and there may be one other diner sitting in the corner, muttering to himself. PLEASEDONOTLETTHISDISSUADEYOU! Or do take-out(as I noticed most of the other people did.) Why? Because this is BYFARTHEBESTPUPUSA I EVERATE… the loroco pupusa especially are a REVELATION.

Well yes, it’s a pupusa. It’s not just a pupusa, but it is a thick, hot deliciousness of cheese, beans and chicharron. At least that is the one I ordered. With a cabbage slaw that was on the side with a lightness to it that fit right in. It left room to not overpower the pupusa itself. Top it with their homemade salsa and dig in. I did indeed order a pupusa and I ordered a tamale. The pupusa had done it and I had to take the tamale to go. However, as I waited for BART4 hours later, I devoured it with a sense of pure happiness. I will absolutely hit this hole in the wall again. Well done Los Planes De Renderos!

Best pupusas ever. I found that most chicharron pupusas are extremely salty, but the pork in theirs is incredibly tasty and tender. I’d recommend zucchini amazing cabbage and salsa. It did take awhile for our order to come, but it was definitely worth the wait. It must be difficult for those women to walk up and down the stairs constantly with huge orders of food so I commend them.

This hole in the wall pupusa specialist makes basic corn and rice flour pupusas to order. There aren’t many pupusa varieties, just variations of shredded pork(chicharron), cheese, refried beans and lorroco. They also have tacos, empanadas, and Salvadorean tamales. I waited about 15 minutes for my pupusas to be made. There wasn’t much décor to look at or seating downstairs, so I recommend going to the Salvadorean bakery(Pacitas Bakery) next door. * Pupusa revuelta($ 1.85 each): Flavorful but greasy corn pupusa filled with creamy beans, pork and cheese and slaw and hot sauce on the side. The cabbage slaw is slightly spicy, crunchy and tangy. Fulfills the pupusa craving but it’s basic and greasy. Cash only.
