The lady working is rude and did not even acknowledge the friend I was with. I ordered my donut and coffee and my friend waited for 5 minutes waiting to get her order and then the lady went and took orders from the other guys behind us. Terrible service!

Growing up in San Jose, I was exposed to a lot of Vietnamese sandwiches that were simple, delicious, and cheap. It’s always a bang for your buck, usually costing below $ 4. However, in San Francisco, the prices for banh mi’s are a bit higher than what I am used to seeing growing up in San Jose. I decided to try this place because I wanted some banh mi for breakfast before I headed off to work and this was the only place that was opened before 9am near where I live. The inside of the café looked like a donut and coffee shop, but they also sold sandwiches and lottery tickets as well. I ordered a #3, ham and pâté, and a #4, BBQ chicken banh mi combo that came with Vietnamese coffee. First off, I had no idea that the prices for the banh mi were more than what I am used to seeing for a Vietnamese banh mi, but that didn’t stop me from trying it, because I thought, hey it might actually be really good. Turns out, my orders were very disappointing. When I watched the lady make my sandwich, everything she had was from a plastic bag, like she bought it somewhere else, and put everything together there. The ham and pâté sandwich was very stale and dry. The ham and pâté itself were very bland, and the portions were very small. For the bbq chicken sandwich, there was definitely food coloring going on in there. The bbq chicken tasted bland and dry. For the coffee, it was NOT Vietnamese coffee, there was definitely a lot of hazelnut syrup going on in there. Growing up Vietnamese in San Jose, these sandwiches were very disappointing to me. Not only were they disappointing but they were way overpriced for the quality that I was receiving. The sandwiches were not well put together, and it was really sloppy. I wouldn’t come back for the Vietnamese sandwiches, but maybe if i’m in the area and needed a lottery ticket, i’ll stop by.

Ordered a bbq chicken(viet sandwich) Got a microwaved pre made chicken Which was covered in red food coloring and pepper bitter carrots and daikon. Nothing about this sandwich was eatable Also the price on the board was $ 5 dollars but I was charged $ 8! Total waste of money!

I ordered a Vietnamese sandwich with BBQ pork. I couldn’t eat it because I knew the meat was bad by the smell. If anything only get donut from this place. Sandwiches aren’t fresh.

Only cash here. One woman show here. She takes the order and then prepares your food. Everybody else in line has to wait. This makes the service slow. The donuts here are not so great. The selection is small. The lotto ticket machine is always busted as well. Why can’t I have access to a winning lotto scratcher. That’s messed up. Make sure you give exact change because the lady at the register will make it seem like you are making her work to give back change. If you don’t mind attitude then this is your place.

Minus two stars for service– lady at the register was rude and kept slipping in lottery customers in front of the line while there were other people in line waiting to order food. She was also very snappy and seemed annoyed while taking orders. I understand it’s 7am, but a bad attitude isn’t helping anyone. Minus one star for wait time– I ordered a pastrami croissant and it took 20 minutes for it to be called out. There was only one sandwich in front of mine. If you’re ordering a sandwich or a toasted bagel, make sure you have time to wait a while for it. The sandwich itself was decent, but overpriced.

Disgusting! I was just in here for the first time about to have a Vietnamese sandwich and iced coffee. I literally ordered and before my food could arrive I RANOUT of this place. So I am sitting there with my bf waiting for our food, I was texting when I hear my bf say«Babe… Don’t move!» He blows something off my shoulder, when I turn around and look what is behind me there is a GIANT cockroach on the window carying a nest of eggs. my boyfriend says to me… «Yup! That’s a roach and it was on you’re shoulder.» I was so disgusted I walked out with out eating. DONOTCOMEHERE! This place should seriously be shut down! I am tempted to call the health inspector!

This place has gotten a little flak from past reviews, however I am not exactly sure why. I ordered a breakfast sandwich, 2 donuts, and a medium coffee. The total damage? Only $ 7… Everything was tasty, not orgasmic, but good. I have no complaints and I’m not sure what people expect from this place. It’s a donut shop, not an artisanal bakery.

I like that this establishment is in this area(not really any doughnut shops in this area). I stop in once in a while, but wow, can we say overpriced? Typically, when I buy a dozen doughnut holes it costs 1. Here it cost $ 2.25. That is way too much to me. I know it’s just me being«frugal» but it’s not like these are must haves– it’s not even healthy anyway lol.

We had the banh mi combination and the bread tasted like cardboard, unfortunately. The meat tastes authentic and the prices are reasonable. San Francisco doesn’t really have good banh mi restaurants that I have found. Sj is the place for that. This place was definitely worth a try though C+ for effort

Their Ban-mis are surprisingly alright. Stay away from their boba drinks since it’s not good. They also have a sign for a fresh avocado smoothie, yet instead of having a green color, it’s brown– so much for«fresh». Their donuts and croissants are the saving grace of this establishment.

This is a typical coffee /donut shop in the neighborhood. Whenever I’m in the mood for a pastry or how the coffee I find myself stopping by to grab one. One of the better features is the fact that they sell lottery tickets. They have advertised that they have sold a lot of winning tickets and that’s what really draws me in. The service is always great the counter staff always has a smile and is always willing to help. Great local business that deserves your business.

THISSTOREDESERVESNOSTARS!!! It’s a shame that the workers here do not know how to give the right amount of change. I’m very upset. Especially the Asian lady who barely speaks English and tries to «ignore» what I ask. Learn to apologize and know that you have a couple of customers who will not be returning back to your store. They are unfair and very rude. Oh, and you have nasty hard donuts and waterdown coffee. Not trying to be rude. I just want to tell my story and opinion. Just close this store already.

The coffee made me sad, which is why this isn’t getting 5 stars. The breakfast sandwich hit the spot though, and it seems like the donut and pastry selection is pretty legit. Note that this is a local place so I’m giving it a pretty high review. Also I’d say price for quality is pretty solid. The breakfast sandwich doesn’t pretend to be more than what it says on the menu. I’m sick of expensive fancy restaurants charging so much for gourmet meals – sometimes you just want an egg sandwich from your local deli for breakfast to nurse your pounding hangover. Or whatever your breakfast needs may entail. I’m also amused by their emphasis on how many lotto winners have been made at their café. I think there have only been two, but that’s enough to ad bomb everyone upon arrival. Two for you, Glen Coco. You go, Glen Coco.

It is a good Vietnamese sandwich shop that makes a mean breakfast sandwich as well. I always grab something to go, but everything is fresh made to order. Also, the combo meals come with Vietnamese iced coffee. Yeah, I know, right?! cà phê sa á

Came here to grab some donuts for work. It was a pretty quick in and out. The lady was really nice and she even gave me some extra donut balls. Seems like they have a limited quantity of donuts and they run out. The donuts were really soft and moist. They tasted pretty good. Careful! Cash only!

2.5 Stars + Clean — Skimpy on their Meat — No pictures allowed :( My buddy Steph and I stopped by Lucky Ocean Café for a quick bite to eat. They have a Banh Mi and Vietnamese Coffee special for only $ 5 so i think that’s the only reason we stopped by. I tried the BBQ Pork(#1) while Stephanie had some kind of meat that was dyed red(#2) . The bread was hard and dry, and there were barely any meat in there. I am definitely not going to order this again. Oh yeah, photos are strongly discouraged, but feel free to bring your food outside and take all the photos you want LMAOZ.

3.5 stars. Not that good of a VNese sandwich but it will do. Lots of other snack foods and drinks — even instant noodles. Can’t really tell from the outside but inside it’s relatively spacious for a café. Bright, clean, and modern looking. There are high stool counter seating, and a couple of chairs for lower counter seating… facing Ocean Ave. Also, tables for two or four are spread around. Parking is metered but around the corner are residential parking with plenty of spaces.
