Nice clean full service locksmith walk in service, not just mobile. Made 20 keys on the spot, did not have to come back or wait for commercial clients like San Mateo locks. I found my SOMA locksmith. Awesome customer service.

Fast service. I needed keys made. Unilocaled this place and found it was on my way from my friends apartment to the convention center and the Lyft driver was cool about stopping for 5 minutes. All good. Only drawback was each key was $ 3 (I get them for around $ 2 locally down in LA) but in a pinch, it was great. Yeah, there is a large key in the window!

Get your keys done here but AVOID them at all costs when it comes to contract work.
Long story short: they did work on the wrong unit in a tenant building even though they were given the right info by our landlord and blamed US, the tenant, for it. When pressed for more info so we could understand where the disconnect was, they just got more defensive and dismissive. They are also horrible about setting schedules. You mostly will get, «I don’t know. At some point…» from this group.
If you’re in for a cocktail of testosterone, Drunk Uncle, Justice Scalia, and apathy, you should give them a call. The macho bullshit in this place is so cliché, they should have a reality show or an SNL spoof.

Polite, friendly, FAST service. Got 2 heavy duty apartment keys copied in the morning. (The keys did not have the ‘do not copy’ label on there.) Total time must not have taken more than 5 – 10 minutes, just enough time to skim through email subject lines and admire the colorful 0.30 key caps – great if you’re into bedazzling :). Total cost was just about $ 10 – FYI, $ 10 credit card minimum, which is visibly displayed on the counter. They also sell bike locks and door knobs, I believe. Plus they have free pens, magnets, and little notepads!!! Woohoo

I wanted to re-​key three 75 year-​old locks at my house and they explained how to remove and replace the cylinders so I could do the work myself instead of having them come out. They prepared three replacement cylinders and a new deadbolt, matching my existing finish and my key specification.
I’m very happy with their service and recommend them highly.

The staff members I spoke to were not friendly to talk to at all and very unaccomodating to someone who just got locked out of their place. But I’m in a hurry, I can tolerate this.
I was quoted that they’d arrive in 5−10minutes, didn’t have anyone arrive until 20minutes later. Pretty annoying but still a rather minor issue.
Finally the locksmith gets here, asks a couple questions about the lock and gets to it, it’s a pretty strict business transaction at this point. The locksmith spends 20 – 30 minutes trying to get the lock open (very standard lock mechanism) and finally gives up and drills the lock open… *facepalm*
He does re-​do my old lock but it’s pretty frustrating that every step of this process was met by poor professionalism and poor workmanship.
For someone who is in an older profession such as locksmithing, you’d think customer service would be higher on the list of things to focus on instead of trying to gouge customers who have been locked out of their own place and are in a hurry (a horrible feeling).
I CANNOT recommend this place to anyone as I’ve had the chance to speak to other local locksmiths and they have been pleasant to speak to, seemingly honest about their availability, and quoted me a slightly lower price with all of the guarentees.

I came here to copy a key for an Isuzu NPR truck. I had previously went to 4 other shops, and nobody had the blank. They did!

Key Copy story.
I don’t write a ton of reviews these days but Mainline deserves every one of these stars.
All I wanted was to get two copies of my house key. I tried going to a couple of places (e.g., UPS) that will make keys but it is not their primary business. The keys made at these places did not work.
I decided to go to a real professional and Mainline made 2 copies of my key in under 5 minutes for about $ 7. UPS, for example, charged $ 5 for one key that did not work.
Both keys work exactly as the original and I am a happy camper.

Excellent and timely service, if pricey! Locked myself out of my apartment on my way to the gym. Gave them a call as soon as they opened and they told me the soonest someone could come was 20 min (he made it in 30!). Very friendly and professional, the employee took 5 min to open the door with a device that pulls the handle on the inside (no damage to lock or door and my old keys still work). I’m a bit annoyed at the price ($ 131) for the effort but having called a few similar services before choosing Mainline they seem to be within the standard range (if slightly above) — and to be honest I’m just mad I locked myself out… If you’re in a similar situation in the area, give them a call!

Great team. Have had all my keys cut here. I had a problem finding a lock for my closet sliding doors, they got a couple of guys looking in catalogs and searching for the lock I needed, excellent customer service and helpful.

I just needed a scooter key cut. Walked in, they cut the key, it was perfect. Charged me five bucks — I was very happy.

Took them 3 days to make copies of 30 keys. Then on the 3^rd day I called to see what the status was of our keys and the guy on the phone said they were ready. I asked him why I didn’t receive a call and he said they did call. I said what number, he repeated my number but I never received a call. I know he was lying because I said why didn’t you leave a message? He said they «couldn’t get through». WTF? Typically, you call again right? No, they’re just lazy and they never called. When I went in, the guy that helped me was very nice and pleasant. He was a big guy, medium to dark complexion and he was really customer service orientated. The dude on the phone both days, which was the same guy I could tell, was lazy sounding, sloppy and sounded like he was munchin’ on a donut like Homer Simpson. I won’t be patronizing this place again for my company.

Old fashioned customer service at its best. When in there twice to ask questions and they couldn’t have been more helpful. Sold me a part that I needed, cheap.

I have special set of keys that I need copied and went to about 5 places before landing at Mainline. It’s about $ 4/​key.
Fast service. The guys are nice and efficient.

This place is great — I locked myself out of a cheapie strongbox I got from Office Depot, needed to get it open in a hurry — I went there as soon as they opened in the morning (8am, before work, great!) — they popped it open as soon as I walked in the door and didn’t charge me for it! Super cool! Also the store was just impressive, very clean and well organized with great equipment displays. A plus experience.

It sounds like they’re fine for copying keys, but they’re clearly in over their heads when offering security camera installations — and instead of admitting or fixing the resulting problems, are petty, dismissive, and rude.
To confirm David S.‘s review, I’m also a volunteer officer of the condo building who hired them to install a security camera. We became frustrated right away from some delays in the installation, and their attitude. Our contract clearly stated that they would provide access software and training on all PC platforms, but the ended up handing us a CD that turned out to only work on PCs, and was not easy to use. With a lot of nagging, we finally got them to give us a link to download Mac software, which was completely unusable for a novice, and they would not schedule a training session for us (it became obvious they didn’t know how to use the software themselves, and I also later figured out they didn’t fully properly configure the DVR software).
We postponed the balance of our payment as they hadn’t fulfilled their agreement, and they were rude and uncooperative with our condo’s management company in trying to resolve this, and changed our access password and threatened to send us to collections. Giving them the benefit of the doubt that there could be miscommunications, and assuming the owners would want to hear concerns directly from the customer, I attempted to talk to them. They were rude and dismissive to me from the start, and were not interested in «wasting» any more time with us. When I pointed out that they still had not trained us on the software, an owner told me that he heard that I had figured out how to use it on my own, and didn’t care when I told him it was only the PC version (the other offices have Macs) and I could barely use it.
In the end, we decided to just pay them and move on. I had to spend a lot of my own time figuring out how to use the remote access software programs and showing the other HOA officers, and also properly configuring the DVR system.
I don’t understand how small business owners can treat their regular customers like that. I guess they realized they weren’t qualified for the job and decided to cut their losses instead of investing the time and resources to properly finish it.
