If you aren’t a drunk that just wants to sit and drink don’t come here. They don’t appreciate enthusiasm. Pool table sucks, owner is sexist. I try and stay away.

The Mucky Duck is under the same ownership as The Green Flash, very nearby. My fiancé and went to Captiva in search of a place to have our rehearsal dinner for our wedding. We had a conversation with the owner who met us with a string of very rude comments, basically yelling at us stating our party size was too big and he did not want us to interfere with the regular crowd. He outright stated he «makes enough money as it is» and did not need our business. Even before our conversation with the owner I had called and was met with the host who stated«We are too busy, no one can talk to you now. Goodbye.» Needless to say, I cannot recommend a restaurant with such horrible service and lack of respect for its customers.

I came here with some friends to watch the Oregon Ducks game based on the name. Yes, it was dive-y. But, the game was on, the beers were cold and the bartender had character. I would return! My favorites were the Baby Daddy and the Tricerahops. They also had a pool table and jukebox if you’re into that kind of thing. Go Ducks! :)

$ 8 pints of Guinness — enough said. Head around the corner to Blackthorn for $ 5 pints.

Very well lit and very impressive beer selection. Plenty of room for groups and a decent pool table. Overall good place. But I’m hungry. So there’s that; no food.

I have always had an amazing time here. Tonight the mood was ruined by a short asian bouncer with a beard/in a red shirt and a piercing. When we arrived he was smoking a cigarette under the doorway, and performing a drunken interpretation of a ska dance about the street and bar. We saw no one there and proceeded to enter and then he sprinted up to us when we were half way in. At about 1:40 as me and my friends were in the middle of playing pool, he passively aggressively put the pool sticks away then came up to us, and asked if we were on acid. We politely responded by saying no and asked him to relax. He responded by saying we had 15 minutes to get out before he put a bruise on our faces. We realize he had a long night and the bar was closing, but there is a nicer way of saying«we are closing soon you will have to leave» than threatening your customers. Asked him his name he said Derrick and then some other customers called him Alex.

Mike, Brett, Scott, Carly, Josh and the rest of the Muckey Duck team are simply the best around town. I always enjoy a nice brew(Moose Droole is great!) and can relax in good company. Great dive and genuine service, can’t go wrong.

Convenient location and always has plenty of sports playing, but holy moly the prices here are way too high. $ 4.50 for a PBR? $ 7 for a Stella? You gotta be kidding.

Every time I come here the bartenders are so super nice. I also found out that Howard’s, the next door diner, will serve you some grubbing food and walk it to you here. I haven’t eaten at Howard’s yet, but you can bet I will try it out soon. They have a decent wine list in addition to their top shelf spirits including Concannon-a nice offshoot from Livermore with a full bodied, sweet Cabernet. Great service all around, right down to the phone charging station. You can really tell when an establishment is centered on their guests.

Hey. Just arrived in the sunset area. My life was going great, meeting people, getting to know the locals. Until it was utterly ruined by the depressing fact that i could not take a simple shot with the Monday Night bartender. This is unacceptable. It is a god given right, at least in this great country called Amurica, to take a shot with fellow Amuricans. Management. Please revise your standards. Thank you

Friendly staff, good prices, and an awesome lil’ window booth for people watching. They also know how to keep the volume level. I love it!

If you want free popcorn? Sure. If you want to watch the Warriors game in silence while the jukebox plays? Sure. Interesting mix of people!

This place is a part of our track team’s weekly post-workout routine. It’s grungy and has no food, but you can bring in any food from around 9th and Irving. The place next door actually has actually brought food in on a plate. Red is an awesome bartender and always sorts the garbage from your meal to compost/recycling/trash.

Often affectionately called The Mallard, Mucky F***, or The Dirty Bird, this establishment embodies all of the above with its rowdy crowds and free-for-all juke box. It’s not the cheapest place to get a drink in the Inner Sunset, but you pay extra for the attractive bartenders and the option of free popcorn. I tend to find myself drinking more when I frequent this bar, perhaps to make the unavoidable small talk with older men more palatable. Sundays are good during football season here since they have quite a few televisions to show multiple games simultaneously if you’re into that. You can also order food next door at Howard’s to be delivered to the Duck and eat it there, which is always nice if you don’t want to leave the bar.

I like this pub. Especially the sassy bartender who says«martinis are like tits, you have to have two.» I like that the bartenders are always friendly, and that they make a mean martini. :) (But seriously, though, if your bartender — *not* the above-mentioned sassy one — has a stinking cold, please make her stay at home. She was coughing all over the place, and, I suspect, was the reason I had to call in sick to my own job.)

How could you not like a bar called Mucky Duck? That name alone deserves a star. I’ve spent a lot of time in the Sunset, but never really noticed this place until my coworker wanted to grab a drink after work on St. Patty’s day. They had a lot of different beers on tap for around $ 4−5/pint. Pretty typical dive bar, but the bartenders and crowd were friendly and fun. I liked the layout of the place even though it’s not very big. There are a few tables on the left side against the wall and across from the bar and a pool table in the back as well. The only thing I didn’t like about this bar is the fact that it’s pretty much cash only because the limit for credit cards is $ 20. My coworker and I didn’t have cash so we ended up starting a tab and then buying chips and nuts just to spend the whole amount because we weren’t really looking to get wasted at that time of day.

Essentially the anchor of the neighborhood. Great folks on both sides of the bar, awesome beer selection, and a fun and laid back atmosphere. I live a couple of blocks away and while there are several other bars in the neighborhood, this is always my choice when I want a few drinks in the neighborhood. Also, you can order food next door at Howard’s and they’ll bring it over for you if you’d like. Oh, and a little historical trivia: This location has been a bar since at least 1945. Originally Ed & Bert’s Tavern, then The 9th Inning in 1955(which you can still see the sign from if you walk to the back of the bar, face the front, and look up), and then finally The Mucky Duck in 1996.

I came here on a Friday night with a couple of friends. Atmosphere is great for hanging out and watching the game. The Giants game was on and this was before they made it to the World Series, so the excitement was in the air! So a few things I noticed about this place: — They carded all of us when we entered. — The clock on the wall is slightly fast. — If you have a big party, the place is more rectangular than wider but there’s enough room for everyone. — Great atmosphere.
