This is my second time here… both times were dramatically different. I’ll need to come back a third to get a better estimate. The first time I came here was on a weekday. I grabbed their house blend and sat inside to work. It was rather quiet and felt like a good place to work on the weekdays. There was free wifi and the corner location of the shop provides a good cross breeze when they open the windows. Be aware, don’t bring your dog here expecting to have it sit next to you unless it’s a service dog. Also, the Hyde street cable car passes by on both sides. this place is located at the intersection where the cable car turns, so you’ll get the loud noise of it passing by. Some people might find that cool, others may find it annoying; just letting you know. The second time I came I had the same mindset to do work, but this was on a Saturday afternoon. Bad Idea. There is no wifi on the weekends and the place was crowded w/people there for brunch. It’s a quite small place so they use the space very efficiently getting people in and out. However, It was extremely loud. Not loud as in «Hey, i’m in a conference hall with 100 people talking»… but as in «Hey, I’m in a bar, it’s 11pm, the warriors are in the finals, and there are 100 people in a bar that can hold 90 and in order for me to talk to the person next to me I have to yell». In all seriousness, it was so loud that I had to raise my voice extremely in order to talk to the person sitting across the table from me. It was likely due to the group of 10 behind us in a corner, but there is no telling. Be prepared that if you go on a weekend during brunch time, It might be crowded, and in turn, will be extremely loud. The place is not very big and it’s quite popular. I’ll need to return to get a better idea of the food selection. I plan to return.

Cute little café, very few seats but we were able to sit right away. Nice small menu. I got the artichoke bottoms filled with goat cheese and wrapped with prosciutto which were delicious and came with a small salad. Quick service even during a busy time.

I really wanted to like this place, but it was too overpriced for what I got. I think the customer service was along the and lines of most hipster places I’ve been to. The saving grace of nook is that you always want to root for the underdog. The coffee was rich and seemed fresh. The scone did not. However my fiancé loved the steamer got. I am going back though because I want to give them a second chance.

Awesome place for food, but unfortunately there’s a lady that works here(the one with dreadlocks) will that absolutely ruins anyone’s experience. I am shocked that she is still employed here. It’s almost worth going in just to experience it. It’s laughable.

Warm and friendly place to stop in for a late afternoon espresso or cup of tea. All the tables are full and there’s a nice buzz but it’s not overly noisy. People are starting to order food and it smells delicious, but we have dinner plans so won’t try any of it today.

Sorry no laptops at all times — ideal for Sunday chill out with your crazy colleague :))). We also ordered pizza pita with red grapes and cheese. Sooo goood!

Nook is underwhelming. Their food is basic, their coffee is average at best, but what really irks me is their service. Their morning cashier is consistently unfriendly and spacey, an unfortunate combination.

Went to Nook with a friend for happy hour and it was a great experience. It’s right at the corner so you’re able to feel the experience and hustle of the cable cars and the local neighbors. We ordered a few sandwiches, pizza, and a few a glasses of wine. Spencer was a great server! Will def be back on the weekend to kick back and enjoy brunch.

I recently moved down the street and this café is nothing special. I’ve had a few things there and they’ve all been fine. Both breakfast and lunch have been solid — I’ve had a couple of bagels with various toppings, their chef salad and a sandwich. It’s probably a great spot to work. They have wifi on the weekdays. One thing I will say is that all the people who have worked their front register have had an attitude. The opposite of friendly customer service. If you ask a clarifying question — something simple like how many espresso shots are in a large? — they act as if it’s the biggest inconvenience in the world. A huge turn off. I’m only stopping by in a pinch.

Really good breakfast wrap! The salsa makes this dish pop. I recommend it with avocado, too. It’s great that they have outdoor tables. Nice neighborhood gem for casual breakfast. Will definitely be coming back!

We were on our walk to Lombard street when we spotted this cute little coffee shop. We were tired from our walk so decided to stop here and get some water. First thing I noticed was their wifi login which was right by the counter. We ordered a hot chocolate and two bottles of water. Although their water bottles are highly over-priced, I decided to get them to quench my thirst. They have a huge menu of food items for a small place. You can get anything here from a muffin to a big sandwich. Very clean place with a nice calm environment. Now onto why I took away one star. Horrible customer service! I was only here for 5 min and was put off by the two ladies working the front counter. They were both extremely rude to my Asian friend and pretended like they didn’t understand her because of her accent. They both had very ignorant and sarcastic looks on their faces and were very unfriendly. This place deserves better employees to represent it.

If there was one recommendation, it is to get the smoked salmon bagel! Great taste, good portion and nice atmosphere. Their cookies and pastries look tasty too! It’s has a lot of sunlight shinning in so it’s great!

Punchline: Coffee is good and is a four-star from me. Now this is a tip for people considering working/reading/writing here rather than a complaint. The place is listed in the Thrillest as one of the best coffee shops in SF to work remotely at… But Sat is a particularly bad timing since no wifi on weekends here + groups of people hanging out for brunch(a lot of taking and laughing) + the space makes really good echoing sound effect. People working at weekdays are encouraged to try out though, bright natural lighting is a plus. Also, not for people who cannot work while loud pop music playing…

Nice cozy place in Nob Hill to chat with a friend or get some work done! Staff is friendly and the food is healthy. The tables seem to get filled fast we came in around noon on a weekday and there was only one table left. Ordered one of the specials which was a chef salad($ 9). Huge serving size full of fresh tomatoes, egg, ham, turkey, and cheese. It was so tasty and light! Also got the chai tea($ 4) which I thought was just okay. I wouldn’t order that again. My boyfriend got the quiche of the day with a small side salad which was artichoke($ 9). It was very cheesy but he said it was nothing special. Overall would come here to read or get some work done with their free wifi and get some healthy food.

What a cozy, corner café shop! They serve up sandwiches, bagels, salads and beverages. Convenient and complimentary wifi, where you don’t have to ask for the password! Happy hour is between 4 – 7 and beer is unbelievably inexpensive at that time! Try $ 1.50. Nook, you got me hooked!

Cute neighborhood coffee shop! Pretty standard selection. Good place for sit down coffee if you are nearby. They also have a few outdoor seats which are great for warmer nights. If you plan to have a snack here, I recommend the smoked salmon crostini.

It’s so easy to forget Nook as a spot for weekend mimosa brunching but it’s quite a good option especially if you’re looking for a more intimate spot. It’s great for a sunny afternoon catch up with a good friend as we experienced one weekend recently post morning run. We sat outside to enjoy the sunshine and to people-watch as trolley after trolley of tourists kept going«clang clang» on by. A limited kitchen keeps the menu fairly straightforward — sandwiches, salads, small bites plus egg dishes on the weekend. I had the chicken pesto sandwich with artichokes and fontina cheese which was satisfying although I much preferred my friend’s prosciutto sandwich with added avocado. Sandwiches come with side salads so it’s not the most filling of meals if you’re hungry as we were. Ended up ordering some smoked salmon crostini to split between us. Wash all this down with bottomless mimosas, you’ve got the ingredients for a lazy Saturday set. The prices are great, the space feels relaxed, and the folks that work here are really sweet plus they also assemble a pretty great looking smoked salmon bagel. Think that’s what I’ll get the next time I’m back at Nook for some weekend mimosa bunching.

I’ve walked by this spot a few times and always assumed it to be a wine bar. Finally stopped in here one afternoon and was surprised to find the atmosphere more like a café, with a full menu of delicious eats! So many great things about Nook, starting with its outdoor seating. For some reason this is harder to find than it should be in this area. Um, also they have daily happy hour from 5−7pm with glasses of wine wine going for $ 3.50 and cocktails for $ 4. En serio. Don’t mind the constant hum of cable cars beneath your feet; it just adds to Nook’s allure.(Though if you’re easily distracted, that means you probably shouldn’t settle down here for a day to study or do work.) Will have to come back to try the pita pizza(chicken, pesto, tomatoes and fontina cheese, I’m looking at you!) and the sandwiches(which include combos like avocado, tomato, cucumber, sprouts, red onions & dijon mustard on ciabatta bread, yummm). Thanks for being in my neighborhood, Nook!

The little crook of my lover’s shoulder is where I want to be when I’m in need of comfort. Nook is like that. Whether you need tea to soothe you, a café americano to wake you up or some wine to relax, this cozy spot on Hyde and Jackson has something for everyone. Mostly neighborhood folks frequent the place and some laptoppers busily getting work done, Nook is intimate, simple and immediately can feel like home. Factor in the occasional passing by of the lovely cable car outside and you’re going to smile to yourself and say, «there is no place like San Francisco!» Heart.
