This store really helped me out! The guy behind the counter saw I was buying mouse traps and suggested I use a Snickers bar as bait. Worked within the SAME day to catch the mouse.

This store sent me 2 «welcome to the neighborhood» coupons. I don’t usually use coupons but I said «why not?» Nowhere on the coupon does it say that they cannot be combined. However, when I checked out the cashier refused to honor the coupons. First time here, last time here… Bye bye Robert’s hardware!
Update: coming home, I realized that they actually did not apply ANY of the 2 coupons… furious!

I must say the staff is very patient and helpful !!! I came in here not knowing nothing I literally just told them I’m building shelves for my room and I have the pieces but don’t know what nails to use cause I kept braking my wall
everytime i hammered In nails. So the young guy showed me all types of screws nd wierd shit that I didn’t know that exsisted forgot half the names of it but any ways I got these brackets to help it stand and these plastic screws that doesn’t brake your wall !!! he also gave me tips on how I should set it up so it can be more sturdy !!! Not my best review and my conversation with the employee sounded ridiculous and alott of hand gestures nd explaining but outt of all the hardware places I went too he actually understood what the hell I was talking bout more then home depo nd lowes. Love this local hardware store. It is full of a good selection of real stuff. I’ve bought furnace vent pipe, toilet repair parts, light bulbs, lamp parts, potting soil, painting supplies, and the biggest possible Phillips screwdriver. Personal service is mixed, but if you know what you want, it’s a great place.

These guys are always about service and today I gave them an extra special opportunity. Half way down the block I dropped 2 quarts of paint I had just purchased and yes they opened upon impact and poured out on the sidewalk. They were immediately on it and graciously cleaned up after me.

This place is our neighborhood hardware store and we couldn’t be more fortunate. They have almost everything we could ask for (within reason), but the best part is the staff. We typically come in with some hair-​brained idea that we describe to them without the necessary jargon for them to fully understand. And, without laughing, they guide us into the simplest and most economical way to achieve what we are hoping to achieve. We love them and are lucky to have them as a resource.
This past weekend, they helped up move and rebuild a conduit line from where it ran in the basement to where it entered the house as well as install a motion sensor on the light switch attached to the conduit. Did it on our first time with only one trip to the hardware store!

This is a convenient spot to get what you need for your handyman /​home improvement projects. They will cut glass panes to size for your window repairs and they stock most of what you need for other kinds of projects.

Robert’s is great! Not only do they have at least one of essentially anything you could need for home projects magically crammed into that small store, the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable, and will do what they can to help you out. They are ridiculously quick at cutting keys — you can just walk in and they do it while you watch instead of telling you to come back in an hour like some places. They have a great paint selection and are also really speedy about mixing colors up for you.

Great local hardware store and my go to when I need a item quick. They’re always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I’m not a handy person, so I can’t talk about depth of knowledge, but I like ‘em. Also, they’ve offered to order parts when they don’t have items. Sure, you can’t compare prices to a Home Depot, but you’re paying for location, convenience, and neighborhood service. So, if you’re challenged with getting to a big box store, Roberts will serve you in a pinch.

I love the guys at Roberts Hardware. They’re always up for collaborating on my projects and giving me tips and ideas for how to do stuff better. That’s what I love most about this store!
Something to note is that Roberts can sometimes be overpriced. If you’re not in a rush to buy what you’re shopping for, plan a trip to Lowes or Discount Builders.

I am really lucky to have this as my neighborhood hardware store. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It has a good selection and their prices are reasonable. I will definitely shop here for anything I need!

My new hobby causes me to frequent hardware stores more than I could have ever imagined. Staff at Roberts always gives good advice, and takes the time to really help. Who knew there are interesting facts about screws, or that you could use bondo to fix furniture?! Thanks Roberts Hardware ;-)

Great little hardware store. Prices are decent and the staff are very helpful. I came in one day ready to buy materials to do a project and after talking to the staff left empty handed with the advice that I was wasting my money and it was unnecessary. Highly recommend this store as a result.

I have come here twice to have keys copied, and they actually messed up both times. They didn’t offer me a refund or even apology when I had to return to the store to have the keys recopied because they couldn’t do it correctly the first time.
Do not come here to get your keys copied!!!

They have a lot of selection but my last trip here I was completely ignored. I went to have a key made and was directed to the desk in the back. I went and waited, with one person in front of me. The employee back there, an older man, didn’t acknowledge me or anything. After a long wait, he wandered off with the customer he was already helping. I waited another 10 minutes or so as they chatted about personal things nearby, and gave up. No thanks.

The staff here is wonderful, very very helpful. Well stocked (I was looking for a large piece of plywood, the two hardware stores that were closer to me didn’t have it and then I found Roberts Hardware online). Helped me figure out exactly what I needed. Good prices. Especially big thanks to Roger (who I am going to bring some cookies too!!) who took extra time to get my big piece of plywood strapped to the top of my car. He has some great stories too.
And something really nice about this shop, they did a Christmas party with a Santa (Roger) and collected 3 pallets of presents for disadvantaged youth. Just a very nice shop.

These guys are top notch. I went in to return a drill bit and buy two batteries yesterday and when I got there I discovered I forgot my wallet. I had no money and my return didn’t cover the cost of my purchase. They told me to just take the items and bring the money another time! Warms my heart it does. That’s what a neighborhood hardware store should be about. They’ve got my business.

I came here to get paint. You know what I got? Paint. No bullshit, no sass, no one trying to sell me what I didn’t need. Normally, you go anywhere for paint and they try to sell you brushes, stirring sticks, tarps, trays, a pony… anything to get you to buy more. Robert’s Hardware is the place to go for no pressure home shopping. Even though the staff doesn’t try to push sales, they’re very knowledgeable and willing to walk you through whatever you need help with.

One day my shower drain started to back up. I asked the building manager what I should do, and he gave me an eco-​friendly enzyme treatment that I could apply 3 days in a row, and everything should have turned out fine. If after 3 days there were still a problem, he could snake the drain.
After one treatment, the drain back-​up was 100%. Standing water in the shower pan. I went back and asked him to snake the drain that day.
Round 1: He showed up with a long-​handled snake, with about a 3-​foot pipe penetration and a nice swirly corkscrew on the end. Jamming it down the drain and twisting, he managed to grasp and pull out what looked like a full head of hair. My hair, which had been going down that drain for five years. I could have made a wig out of it, except it was ALL BLACK with crud, and touching it was beyond me. Still, there was more hair down there, because the now-​black water was still standing in the shower stall.
Round 2: The building manager showed up with a 25-​foot long cable, which he tried to jam down the drain to get at the rest of the hair, but it wouldn’t go past a bend in the pipe. So he had another idea, and off he went to the hardware store.
Round 3: This time he had a bladder, which looked like a little hand grip for a hose, but which was actually designed to expand to seal the pipe. We ran a hose through the bedroom window and across the bedroom floor, 100% wool «Haitian sand» white carpeting, and into the bathroom. With the bladder attached, he pushed the hose down the drain and had his assistant turn on the water a little to get a pressure seal. Once the seal was firm, he had his assistant turn the water pressure all the way up, and — Presto! — hydraulically blasted the hair down the pipe to the sewer main and presumably to the North Beach waste water treatment plant. Ta da!
Now the drain was flowing freely. I cleaned up the hose, the bathroom, and the bedroom, and thanked him for his experience and persistence.
Aftermath: I didn’t want to see this scene again in another five years. So I walked over to Roberts Hardware and took a look at some drain screens. A clerk asked if there were anything he could do to help, and I asked him whether a small bathtub drain screen would do the trick. I didn’t want it jamming down the pipe, after all.
No, he replied, a larger drain screen would be better, because if I put the small one under the drain cover, I might forget to clean it later. But he agreed with my building manager about the enzyme, and said that he treated all the drains in his apartment building once a year. The enzyme wouldn’t dissolve the hair, it would dissolve the calcite deposits that formed on the inside of the pipe, which were catching the hair and keeping it from flowing into the sewer main. I bought both size screens for under $ 10 just to be on the safe side, and brought them home for my own experimentation.
The small screen worked just fine. The drain screen fit right under the drain cover, and I could actually see it if I cared to look. I figured if we used the enzyme when we changed the shower head filters, and cleaned the drain screen whenever we noticed slow flow, we would never have this problem again.
I took the bigger screen back to Roberts for a full refund.

Never seeing water backed up in my shower again: priceless.
