I stopped by the new Whole Foods in Castro and picked up a tiny five-ounce jar of Traders Point Creamery yogurt for $ 2. Of course, I forgot about it in the morning and had to figure out a way to get breakfast in my belly. Lo and behold, the FARM. A lady doling out samples of Bicycle Coffee(Oakland-roasted and bicycle-delivered) practically begged me to try some(OK, not really). When we got to talking,(what seemed like) the manager(perhaps the owner?) came out and introduced me to the concept of the store. Sushi rolls for lunch(or breakfast, if that’s your kinda thing), pre-made flavored yogurt(they use Clover), non-flavored plain, vegan, or vanilla yogurt, or Strauss Greek yogurt with fresh fruit and granola(gluten-free granola’s available, too) for 50¢. They’ve also got the coffee and various pre-made teas and juices. The concept’s pretty great. The prices are even better: $ 3 for a small yogurt( ) and $ 6 for a large. You mix and match whatever flavors you like. Of course, it hasn’t even been an month and they’re no longer serving yogurt. Just sushi rolls. Cold, refrigerated, sad sushi. Boo!

It was a super rainy day in San Francisco and I was freezing my butt off looking for food. Found a brand new spot so decided to check it out: — $ 3 nontraditional uncut sushi rolls. I will be going back for bay shrimp and crab louie. — Sushi is packed into a white stand up box. — There are plenty of different sauces for you to drizzle onto your sushi. Beware that your box will start leaking if you put too much sauce. Alternatively, grab one of the to-go container of sauces. — There isn’t any seating but around the corner is a plaza with benches and a waterfall. — Flavor: interesting and the sauces were good but really messy. The seaweed paper was really chewy. Rice is okkk. If I was near Embarcadero and I was hungry, I will come by. Not sure it is the spot for winter food but definitely during warmer days!

So sad that U-Sushi is gone! It was my go to place for a quick healthy lunch. Now it has been replaced by The FARM which is my go to place for organic Greek yogurt and mixed fruits when I am rushing into work for an early meeting! Love the yogurt! Just a strange concept to me to be selling both sushi and yogurt in the same joint as the main offerings…

As another Unilocaler has mentioned, this place used to be Usushi. I saw a few new faces today, and I’m glad they now have happier customer service. I got two rolls and a small yogurt today(total spent $ 9). Seriously, I’m not fond of pre-made rolls. The seaweed is not crunchy and the entire roll is refrigerator cold like supermarket style. Also, the rice is too thick for my taste. I really miss Usushi when you add what you want and its rice machine that made the perfect thin layer of rice! Quality seems to have gone down along with price. I won’t be back as often but I don’t mind coming back.

I love the concept of making sushi cheaper for lunch, but they should up hold some type of quality when it comes to the food. It’s very much comparable to supermarket sushi. You enter the shop, pick pre-made sushi rolls, pay and then drizzle some of their sauces on it. The rice doesn’t seem to be well made, the seaweed exterior is chewy. They are completely brand new, so hopefully they will take a few of these notes and find ways to improve the quality without upping cost. We understand at $ 3 a roll you have to compromise somewhere but in a city of foodies. Food quality is not something to simply overlook or you’ll fail.

U-Sushi is gone but The F.A.R.M. took over. Same owners, slightly different fun concept, still good quality ingredients, and BONUS! the price point is much more relate-able to my wallet. It’s like a candy shop of sushi rolls! You enter The Farm, select a eye-candy pre-made sushi roll @ $ 3 each(WIN!). They stuff it into a cute box, you pay and then drizzle your favorite sauce on top. I tried the bbq sauce and wasabi soy. Since I went there around 4pm, the selections were skimpy. But I manage to make it out with a cucumber avocado roll and Korean beef roll, both are YUM, especially with those sauces. And because I’ve been collecting stamps from U-sushi for my freebie roll, the owner gave me these rolls free. Lucky me! I mean, I was almost at my 10 stamps mark! Anyway, the rolls are still good. They are wider and plumper and taste just as good as before. But to keep me coming back for more, I must taste their crab louie roll. If the crab meat is still real, then I’ll be sold forever and ever at The F.A.R.M. Updated review to come… TIDBITS: Owners did a restaurant make-over the weekend of 11÷2−11÷3, he told me they just opened up as The FARM on Monday 11⁄04. I walked in today and was thoroughly confused on what happened because I was fancy-ING for a U-Sushi Cali-roll.
