The UPS Store

I really hate the fact that when you need to print something, not only the prints are overpriced, but they charge you for computer use on top of that. I don’t need your computer. I need my prints. If you want to use your computer for that, it’s your problem, not mine. Wake up and get into customers shoes. Think. THINK. Or lose business.

Always great service! I have a mailbox there and they know me now.

Well, I usually like this store. But it’s a store for mailing things, no? Right. So, when I send ONE LONE package, and they get the address wrong…
Um, yeah. So I was mailing a HIGH PRICED item that I sold on eBay. And the guy working copies the typed address from my cell phone… and manages to get BOTH the apartment number AND the zip code wrong? I corrected him. He re did the typing. I checked that it was ok.
And apparently he still managed to use the previous wrong address? WTF! And that WAS the transaction? Was he SLEEPING or what?
Look, I’m not going to hover over a person while they work. I trust people to know how to do their jobs. And really, what is so hard about what he had to do? I have no idea how this went so wrong. Now the recipient of my package had to have the Distribution Center hold the item, and they have to pick it up. All because this dude wasn’t paying attention.
So much waste happened that could have easily been avoided! that’s the part that bugs me the most.
He wasted:
my time
my customer’s time
my fiancé’s time (because I had UPS questions)
UPS call center’s time (because I had to call them)
my customer’s time again, on driving to the call center, and
my customer’s gas and wear and tear on their car driving to the Distribution Center
The last thing I need is a $ 600.00 item not being received. I would get a bad review on eBay, not to mention be out $ 600.00 for the item, and another $ 30 for the UPS!
It is NOT OKAY to be spaced out at work while you are doing something that affects other people!!! Get it together!
TLDR; Check Check Check your addy, or better yet, this guy can’t handle Ad Hoc, print your addy at your house (I can’t do this because I don’t have a printer. but I’m about to just buy one so I don’t have to deal with Jackasses anymore)

I don’t understand what all the naysaying is about but I really LOVE this UPS Store. I go to this store mainly to return packages and I’ve brought many many packages in all sorts of shapes, sizes and conditions — not sealed, oversized, packaging in bad conditions, heck sometimes without printing the prepaid labels. They process them all without ever batting an eyelid and with a razor sharp Asian efficiency that is rare in non-​asian stores and a pleasant demeanor. They don’t ask me about my life and how my day is going but I can live with that.
I’ve experienced stellar customer service from pretty much everyone on the staff. Keep up the great work guys!!!

Have been getting mail here for almost a year, and it’s awesome. Never get my mail stolen from home or late deliveries again. It gives you a real address, recommended over the post office boxes

Consistently unfriendly, both in person and over the phone.
Just called to see if I had received some mail I’d been anxiously waiting on. They said «no packages» and hung up on me. But I’ve come to expect that kind of response from them.

The staff seemed to know nothing about the «media mail» option that is posted about on the UPS website… Frustrating!

Super awesome convenience and very helpful service. I made a bunch of copies and sent something off via Priority Mail. Staff even created and printed label for me. This location saved me a ton of time because i needed to send a package of important docs downtown but didnt have time because im heading out of town in an hour…

Found this UPS Store after my neighborhood shop had equipment problems. I got a 40-​page document printed out on Sunday afternoon; went back two days later and had a staff person scan the edited doc as a PDF. He also shipped the document to Berkeley for me. UPS isn’t the cheapest place for such services — but UPS offers one-​stop services, with no horsing around. No complaints from me; I will go back.

The staff there are so amazing & thanks to Gary for such fine accommodation! :)

The worst. Cannot print a single document here. False advertising. Incompetent staff and outdated equipment. They literally referred me to a competitor down the street. Amazingly bad.

The post office around the corner was closed due to a plumbing problem, so I stopped in to pick up a stamp. It initially looked like there were no employees in the store, but then a guy came from the back to help a customer who was in the store before me and I realized one of the people at the copy machine was an employee. After a few minutes the employee at the copy machine asked me what I needed. I said I just needed a stamp. They said to hang on for a minute, so I did, then:
Employee: That’ll be 87 cents.
Me (incredulously): For one stamp?
Employee: Yeah, we’re not the post office.
Me: I’m not paying you guys 87 cents for a single stamp.
[I turn on my heel and walk out as I’m saying this, and as I go, I hear «have a nice day!» shouted not impolitely after me. ]
The employees get this store 3 stars — they weren’t fantastic and could have asked me what I needed when I first walked in to spare me the unnecessary wait, but they were definitely acceptable. The business model that transparently imposes a 75% markup on a product literally sold around the corner earns 1 star. Averaged together we get a 2 star establishment.

WOW. DON“T EVER GO HERE FOR PRINTING. Or anything for that matter. They purport to offer printing services. When I asked the staff member politely if they had card stock paper, he informed me that I was «demanding». Thanks, I’ll take my business elsewhere. I gave this place a lot of business for shipping as I lived a block away. Unfortunately I will never be going back.

The sign in the window says open until 6:30, but I showed up at 6:20 and they were already closed!

First, they’re open on Sunday. Next, after I’d made a mistake in the address and need a faster shipping time, when I called first thing in the morning, the folks at this store were able to, quite painlessly, redo the shipment so it would reach its destination on time. These guys were helpful and didn’t make me feel like an idiot. Bravo.

We’ve only used this UPS Store location to drop of prepaid return packages & things usually go pretty smoothly… just be sure there’s no line
This past weekend, there was 1 guy in the back talking on the phone & 1 guy working the front — helping 1 person ahead of me getting color scans & about 3 people came in after me …& we all waited for the 1 guy working the front. The 2^nd guy came out front a couple of times while he was still on the phone but just stood there
Not sure what he was doing & maybe he was indeed helping a customer so unfair to speculate… but we surely wanted at least to be acknowledged
Kind of a pain to have to wait for 15 min, when I only need to drop off a package but I needed the tracking receipt so it wasn’t like I was going to just leave it
But this was the 1^st time this has happened — I usually get to walk right up & hand off my parcel. So A-​OK for now in the hopes this long wait was a 1-​off

They should change their name to UNRELIABLE. The place was full of disgruntled customers when I arrived. That should have been my first clue.
I called to make an appointment for a fingerprint service and was told they accept walk-​ins every day during business hours. I travel across town that same day, and am told the finger print woman left at 10am for the day. They were not sure what her hours might be next week.

They do what they should do. They package things well, are friendly and charge a premium compared to USPS. I’ve had zero issues with the 6 or so things I’ve had them package and ship.
Would give them 5 stars if parking was easier and not metered.

I have had nothing but good experiences with this UPS store. The people in the store are always super helpful and responsive with whatever I need.
In fact, this is the balancing review to my review of the worst UPS store experience I’ve ever had. (The one on Market and Castro).
Since I haven’t had experiences like other reviews for services like fax or them not answering my questions, I can’t lower their score based on it.
I highly recommend this store and will continue going here until I am given a reason not to.
