Everything was wonderful! The service was great and the food was delicious. Especially the chicken fried steak! Perfect with our children too. Will definitely be going back!

What a special place! The service is amazing, I have gotten so used to meh service, that I am wholeheartedly surprised and elated when I come across attentive, friendly rock star servers. I opted for a burger and was very happy to see a gorgeous juicy ball of meat with freakin onion rings on top! I normally shy away from fried food, but I was quite TOASTed myself so indulged in the perfectly cooked onion ring as well as the perfectly seasoned curly fries. I had not had curly fries in such a long time and instantly felt like a happy little girl. The coffee here is also TOPNOTCH. Made with love and attention. Pro Tip: Go on a week day or off hour when it is quiet and you can enjoy the experience. This seems like the type of place that gets MOBBED for weekend brunch.

Went this morning. The place is a echo chamber. Go to the Noe Valley locations ! The food, awful. I was served Bacon that was burnt beyond consumption. Pancakes that came from left over batter(mixed with frozen berries right before my eyes) My waiter repeatedly failed to bring enough cream for the coffee he repeatedly reached across my plate to fill… Growing too big too fast. Stay away from the West Portal location —

Walked in this morning to buy a $ 1.50 day old banana bread for my dog outside and the cashier is very unfriendly. Doesn’t even greet or smile. On top of that i get change in dimes, nickel and 5 pennies instead of 2 quarters. She looks pissed off because I didn’t buy the daily banana bread at $ 3.50. Yeah this place needs to get better people.

Friday morning my friends and I decided to go to Toast for breakfast. This was my very first time here, and I’m glad that I went. Parking: Meters Location: Is between a pizza place, a couple of nail shops, and coffee shops as well. The location is peaceful and nice. Waitress: She was very attentive and took care of our every need. I ordered the«2 eggs any style» off the menu. I got two scrambled egg whites, 3 pretty big pieces of turkey bacon, four pieces of whole wheat toast, and hash browns. My food was very fresh, and it tasted home made. This is the first place I have ordered turkey bacon and have been satisfied with it. As stated before, the turkey bacon pieces were fairly big. The turkey bacon pieces were cooked very well(as I like them to be), and they were seasoned well. They were quite addicting actually, and the first thing I finished eating off my plate. My egg whites tasted like typical egg whites. The whole wheat toast was great with strawberry jelly. Just a little thicker than I expected. The hash browns were definitely home made and were amazing as well. My two friends both ordered specialty sandwiches: one portobello mushroom(Grilled Portabella Mushroom w/Pesto, Sun Dried Tomato, Balsamic Vinaigrette Topped w/Grilled Onions & Fetta on Ciabatta) with seasoned curly fries and the other a chicken club(Grilled chicken and bacon) with regular seasoned french fries. Both of them stated that their food was seasoned to perfection. The fries were homemade. The grilled chicken wasn’t too crispy. One of my friends got the iced coffee as well. The waitress bought it to her in a mason jar with ice. The coffee wasn’t too bitter, and it was ice cold. Overall, toast wasn’t too loud for an 12:45 iish brunch. It was full, but people were coming and going very quickly. My food was amazing thanks to the awesome turkey bacon and toast! My friends were extremely pleased with their sandwiches as well which means we will be going back again to that place! Definitely a great place for great food that’s homemade. Next time I will be trying the pancakes. The short stack comes with two pancakes that are a pretty huge sized. They come with a little bit of powder on it and fruit. Looking forward to my next experience for sure!

Food is good. For the price, portions could be bigger. There’s always a line. But hey! You’re in SF. On a weekend there’s always a line for breakfast even if its 2 in the afternoon. Also good food is expensive in SF. No two bones about it!

Walked in today for brunch and no one greeted us. There were two ladies at the front, it looked like one was training the other. We asked for change for the meter and they were only able to change $ 1.00. I don’t understand why, you’re a restaurant surrounded by metered parking, you should have plenty of quarters for customers, and you’re right across a Wells Fargo bank. We asked if we should write our name down on the list, she asked how many people, and pointed us to a table. OK. 1 menu and 1 table setting. I guess we’ll share a fork to eat?! We ordered our food: joe’s scramble and corned beef hash. The extra knife and fork was brought out after our food came out. My food came out ROOMTEMP. We were waiting for our waitress, ORANYONE, to come by to ask for some hot sauce, but minutes went by, I grew very impatient with my food being room temp already, so my bf got up to ask for some. If my plate came out hot, it would have been AMAZING. My bf enjoyed his plate, it was still hot, but I didn’t take a bite. My corned beef hash was good, and I asked for over easy egg, and the egg was not runny at all. The hash brown was good too, although I prefer it hot. I was expecting more for the price, I’ve been to plenty of breakfast/brunch places, and this is the first time I actually finished the plate and didn’t mind a little more. I don’t think I would come back.

Do not waste your money visiting this establishment. Poor service I been there only twice, first time was okay, the second time was subpar. The service was very slow, our server didn’t bring our menu or have taken our orders until our friends(who sat near the bar) who arrived 10 –15 mins later than we did had their orders taken. I ordered a regular breakfast dish and asked for a side a gravy. The server failed to inform me that it cost extra; second — he failed to inform me for an additional 1.40 I could have it with biscuits. The food was okay. But I feel this is very poor marketing training and I left unsatisfied! Hence when I asked the server for the bill to be reevaluated the server’s response was the manager already left for the day. So sorry — but there is nothing he can do… I was a waitress for over three years, that is a load of BS if I ever heard one. Two stars because I didn’t get sick from eating their food . I am very disappointed with their service and their ability to train this waiter. I don’t foresee myself from going there anytime in the near future.

As with most things it’s a bit small, so on a Sunday at noon my friend and I had to wait 15 minutes for a table for two, but that’s not so bad. Clean and pleasant inside. My decaf coffee tasted like coffee. That was good. They menu is pretty extensive, so I’d go back to try something else. I got the Blackstone Benedict. Overall it was good. And the bacon/tomato combo really is hard to beat. The Hollandaise was fine, but it was lacking in richness or something. Didn’t make much of an impression. The hash browns were good solid crispy hash browns. Glad they didn’t mess that up. My friend go the salmon sandwich. It looked really good. She said the tapenade was too salty, so she scraped it off and that worked.

Toast is one of those places that has pretty okay good but I won’t go out of my way to come here. If I am in the area in needs of a quick breakfast or lunch, sure. The place has pretty ok lay ambience but the seating areas are pretty small. I ordered the Polk Street omelette. It’s not bad but not amazing. I can probably spend a lot less for the same thing in a diner. Depends on what you are looking for though.

Servers are SONICE. I tipped well for that. Food was solid. But I made the mistake of sitting at the counter. I hate open kitchens for the reason that lots of times line cooks forget other people can understand what they are saying if they don’t speak only English. Glad you guys get along and that you can joke around but judging customer requests and talking about the servers when they can’t hear is just not cool.

I have a secret. I’m addicted to hashbrowns! Toast Eatery has some of the best in town. Crisped perfectly on the outside and cooked soft on the inside, every bite is delicious. The corned beef hash, churro latte, the array of Benedicts, and a kind staff make this location of this San Francisco franchise a delight. The location is also pristine being next to the Muni light rail and a few of blocks away from major thoroughfares like Junipero Serra, Sloat boulevard and 19th Ave. While I haven’t tried much of their lunch offering, I have had almost every single breakfast item on their menu and, believe me, it is worth every penny. Only setback: it’s also right next to a Pure Barre. Nothing feels worse than leaving a hearty, I-don’t-care-about-diets breakfast eatery then seeing a bunch of fit, yoga clad/ballet shoe wearing people. Makes me have regrets. Then again, it wouldn’t kill me to get on a treadmill. Other than the self guilt, I’d say Toast Eatery is one of the better options if you’re trying to avoid the crowded downtown wait-outside-for-your-turn typical brunch fad. Bön appétit!

Lykke Li — «A Little Bit» «Hands down, I’m too proud for love But with eyes shut it’s you I’m thinking of» West Portal. A chilly Saturday morning. I wake up a little after 7. The sun hasn’t fully risen. I rub my eyes and lay on the couch. The others haven’t awaken yet. But my stomach has. I walk up to the bay window. Move the white linen curtains to the side. Another sleepy town… «I would do it Push a button, pull a trigger» I put my jacket and beanie on. I’ve walked these foggy roads before. Time to venture out for coffee and bacon. After all… I’m a lumberjack in training. «Climb a mountain, jump off a cliff ’Cause you know, baby» It’s surprisingly cold. My breathe makes a small misty fog. I clutch my copy of «Into the Wild» and walk at a slow pace, taking in the air… crisp. My aunt only lives ½ a mile from West Portal. Easy walk. «I think I’m a little bit, little bit A little bit in love for you» I walk next to Toast Eatery and peer in the crystal clear window. A bit empty. Perfect. The door opens easy, I walk in. An attractive blonde server greets me. «Do I sit anywhere?» — «Yes, anywhere you wish.» Cool. I find a small two top and plop down facing the entrance. I want to people watch. A brunette server takes my order. California Scrambler. Wheat toast. Side of bacon. Coffee. Black.(like my heart) «But only if you’re a little, little bit Little bit in l-l-love for me» And…it…was…beautiful. At no point, no bite was I disappointed in my meal. The California scrambler was delicious. The avocados ripe, the cheddar sharp. The eggs were perfectly moist. The toast. Rarely have I wrote about toast. Toast’s wheat toast was the most delicious toasted bread I have ever had. The seeds, the crunch… I don’t know why I loved the toast… but…toast. The bacon. A bit dry through my eye test. A bit dry through the bite test. But the flavor test… the feel test… the cuts of bacon were divine. A perfect girth to chew without being overwhelmed. People continually streamed into the restaurant and eventually I realized I had prime real estate that should be relinquished. With a warm heart and full stomach, I got up and left. You have made a fan of me Toast. Whenever I am in SF, you will have my patronage. Cheers from Texas.

SERVICE: The waitresses are awesome. They really hustle on busy days, especially the weekends. I think they do a great job of weaving through the aisles which can be difficult in such a small space. From the few times that I’ve been here, it appears you have to hail down a waitress if you need something because they’re generally too preoccupied with other tasks/tables to check on you regularly. FOOD: I think for what you get, it’s mildly overpriced. If I’m going to pay ~$ 13+ for brunch, I’d like the complexity and portions to mirror that of currently trending brunch establishments. I am not going to list examples in order to prevent bias but all I’m saying is that I want to feel like I’m getting what I paid for. Taste-wise, there is not complaint. I ordered the corned beef hash the last time I was here and it was not too bad, although the meat is more like solid pieces rather than a potato/corned beef mush, which can be a good or a bad thing depending on your preferences. The chicken and waffles are pretty nice. If I remember correctly, they serve you two pieces of chicken strips along with a waffle. Lastly I tried one of the scrambles. I forget which one but it had avocados and tomatoes, and sour cream(I think). The scramble was my favorite. Presentation is lackluster overall, but that’s not as important because ultimately it’s the taste that matters! AMBIANCE: I have mixed feelings about this. I absolutely love the barista corner at the front of the restaurant. It’s clean, and they get all their drink orders from there, including their freshly brewed coffee. The rest of the restaurant is pretty narrow and it closes in even more as you move further in. The walls, tables and chairs are all wood which makes lighting an issue especiall since the place isn’t surrounded with windows. I do, however, think that being seated so close to neighboring parties emanates a familial energy; it’s a nice feeling to have on a Sunday afternoon.

TOAST was a good breakfast place in the West Portal area of San Francisco. The waffle was fluffy. The corned beef has was fresh(not canned). The prices are okay, but being a bit older, I’m still stuck in the 80’s/90’s so get a little sticker shock paying $ 40 for breakfast for 2. But I know it’s the going rate for the most part at most higher end eateries. What earned TOAST it’s * * * * is the service. The coffee was a bit odd tasting and the waitress was patient, sincerely accommodating and gracious to switch it out to ensure customer satisfaction with 3 attempts, ‘tho the coffee still wasn’t our cup of tea, they get an A for effort here.

This is the nicest Toast I’ve visited. It’s bright inside with a lot of gorgeous marble and a super nice bathroom(with a sink outside! Yay!) Service was genuinely friendly and pretty good. I loved my hamburger and salad, but the fries I ordered on the side were limp little grease bombs and not worth the calories. Maybe if I order them again I’ll ask for crispy?

I came here on an early Sunday morning and there was already a line at the door. The crowd here is slightly older or people with families. My friend and I were seated immediately because we did not mind sitting at the bar. I ordered a nutella latte and my friend got the grasshopper one. I liked my drink a lot and the serving was really big. It was a little too sweet for my liking though. That’s a personal preference though. My friend also ordered the french toast and I ordered toast with avocado. I was disappointed to learn that did not have avocado toast and I had to create it myself with the side orders of the individual items. The food was pretty good overall. I just felt that the prices were a little high for what it was. I’m not sure I would come back again. But definitely give this place a try before passing judgment!

YUHHYUHHYUHHHH!!! I don’t understand people who don’t like this place. I order the same thing every time and it’s always perfect. Consistency is key and Toast nails it! If you don’t know what to get order the godfather omelet. The egg is delicate, light and fluffy. I LOVEIT when I walk in and the girls greet me by name! They’re always hella happy to see me. That’s A+ customer service. All the girls are sweet but Elizabeth is my favorite! Elizabeth is always in a good mood, has an upbeat attitude and completes every task with swift confidence. You can tell all the staff work well as a team and genuinely enjoy each other. That’s huge! It makes the space approachable and inviting. And they play good music, too. If the food wasn’t good I wouldn’t come here. Obviously, it’s bomb cause I’m here every weekend. If you’re not sold try the chocolate cold pressed iced coffee. It’s heavenly and you can’t get it as good anywhere else. We love you, Toast! Love, Your #1 fans Rosalyn & Charlie

This place is cute, but needs to get it together. One of my two pancakes were burnt to the point that it couldn’t be eaten. I have no idea why the kitchen plated it. Gross. I watched an employee come out of the bathroom and not wash his hands and go straight into the kitchen back to work. Gross. The table next to us had toast served to them with mold on it. Gross. I hope they can get things together because it’s a cute place. I won’t be going back.

This place has been open for 3 days now and I’ve been here twice. The first time I ordered the Irish Breakfast and except for the Irish bacon being a little over cooked it was very good. The next day I ordered the Eggs Benedict and substituted a green salad for the hash browns. Again this was very good with a nice hollandaise sauce and the eggs were cooked just right. The coffee is provided by another local business, Java Beach Coffee, and is a nice blend. The service was quick, efficient and friendly and even when I was in a hurry they were able to seat me get me my breakfast and coffee and check all while not seeming to hurry me out the door. I still need to come back for the corned beef hash as well as the biscuits and gravy.
