Worst thai food i have ever had. Tried the pad see eew. It tasted nothing like it so i was extremely disappointed.

–2 stars for food. pad thai tastes nothing like pad thai. –1 for register lady being so indifferent all the time. even if i tip, she still acts rude to me. I have thanked her, smiled at her and still received stank eye. heres the thing — food isn’t so bad, they have fresh stuff, IT’S JUSTNOTHINGLIKETHAIFOOD. i have not experienced the curries, but can speak on behalf of the noodle dishes.

Okay so this is an update on a review I did previously. I have since gotten a dish with Tuk Tuk Thai every Thursday for the past 5 months. Their secret weapon is their pork, IT’S AMAZING! I get it in my pad see ew(and no it is not authentic but hey, it is made in front of you using fresh ingredients) and I loooove it, it is braised to perfection. Their food may not be truly authentic but you know what, who cares? What would you expect from something on campus? Their food is fresh, tasty and quite cheap and frankly I am just glad I can get something that is made to order in front of me(I never normally get their display items). And I am half Thai so authenticity does play a large role for me but in this case it’s not like I have come specially to Tuk-Tuk Thai to get Thai food lol. I’m on campus, hungry, and want something good that will not break the bank. Oh and the Thai tea is nice too :)

Cashier was apathetic. Saw me standing at the register and seemed to deliberately take her time stocking the forks and knives instead of taking my order. No thank you or anything. I ordered the pad thai, which was surprisingly unflavorful and severely lacking in veggies. I’m curious about the curries but after this experience won’t be giving it a second try.

I saw some people didn’t like this place… but I just had the food that was displayed and LOVED the chicken with peanut sauce. The Tofu Curry was also very good. Maybe the menu items you have to order aren’t great(I wouldn’t know) but the stuff I had was great!

I would give this place 3.5 star. Ok, so i finally got a chance to try this place out. As a matter of fact, the food here is better than other food places on campus. I ordered a chicken fried rice cost me $ 5.48. The chef added 3 pieces of chicken breast into the vege fried rice and it cost $ 1 more, not worthy so i think i will order vege fried rice next time. The rice tastes okay except too spicy. Definitely recommend to ppl who love spicy food. I will come back here an order another rice, or noodle without spicy.

Don’t get anything other than their curry items. Soup tasted like instant msg. I couldn’t eat it which is pretty rare. I’m tolerant to instant joints like this, but this was barely food. Raw vegetables in salty boiling water. No tamarind or even broth taste. It definitely didn’t come from a simmering pot, which would be most efficient? I don’t understand why they would attempt to just throw all the vegetables together like that. It was served lukewarm, which was the worst part. Pad thai is tasteless other than raw salt of course. Only reason why I’m giving more than one star is because they have options that ARE decent, such as the the food displayed. The chicken satay is also pretty good. I appreciate the fresh lime and cilantro too. They should just give up on the fast fried stuff like rice or noodles. The line gets backed up, though I don’t mind waiting. Once served, you’ll regret the wait and wish you just went with the generic curries instead.

I really don’t understand why there’s so much hate for this place. The people who work here have always been quite nice and helpful. Sometimes it’s understaffed, yeah, but whatever. You get a lot of decent-tasting food for a pretty good price. I always get the 2 item combo for $ 5.50 and choose whatever looks the best from the curries and stuff out front, and I’ve never gotten anything I couldn’t eat. I usually eat half for lunch and eat the other half for dinner on my especially long days full of classes, and it’s enough food that I’m always full. What’s not to like? Just don’t expect the most authentic and nuanced Thai food to come from a state university student center and you’ll be fine.

I don’t know why people don’t like it here. Yeah, it’s not amazing thai food, but it’s also in the student center of SF State. I didn’t expect anything at all, but I got a vegetarian curry and I was really pleasantly surprised with the flavor. If you want spicy, they’ve got sriracha and chili sauce available. This isn’t the worst of the thai foods I’ve had. It’s close, it’s cheap, and it’s a helluva lot better than getting a pastry from the cafes or even some of the shit meals you can get elsewhere on campus. Also, I think it’s better than the packaged foods in the Healthy U, warm, and cheaper. Give it a try. Seriously.

Sub par Thai Food. First time I came I ordered the Curry Chicken and the chicken was way over cooked and woody/pulpy. For $ 6.50~(1 Item combo) Second time I came I ordered the Pork Pad Thai. It was acceptable. I had way better before. The noodles lacked egg and it was watery with the tamarid sauce. It probably had a table spoon for pork. For $ 6.50

Why all the hate? This place is actually kind of decent considering it’s on campus and you get a lot of food for under $ 6. The curries are pretty tasty. I’ve had some good food here – fresh cut pepper and onions with a light coconut curry sauce and big pieces of chicken breast – it’s really rather good. I think the problem is everyone is ordering the pad thai or one of the other noodle dishes that don’t look that great. Stick with the curries and meat dishes, and you won’t be disappointed. Another plus? The lines are usually very short during the lunch rush… Better for me, I guess, since I don’t have to wait in line like a sucker. So keep hating – I’m going to keep coming here.

Bad service. Lazy cashier. Food is expected for cafeteria food. Tuk-Tuk Thai: Thai Food as El Pollo Loco: Mexican Food

Ugh. New semester and I thought there might be a chance that they got better… but no. I tried to give it another chance today since it didn’t work out so well last 2 visits. I got the pad see eew and it was very bland, and didn’t taste good at all. I reluctantly try to take a few more bites hoping it might get better, but I didn’t so I ended up throwing most of the food away. :(what a waste, I really hate wasting such a big portion of food. But I really couldn’t eat it anymore, so it’s such a waste of $ 4.50 for something I would try to whip up at home, and I can’t cook. Reminder to myself, never ever coming back here. I’m telling my friends that if somehow one day I say, «huh, I haven’t had Thai in a while…» they’d have to slap me and keep me from making the same mistake.

The food is ok if you’re really hungry and the lines everywhere else is long. Usually the girls who do the cashier are nice, but the cooks who do the cash register are just plain rude. No hello, no thank you. I’d only go here IF I’m hungry and IF the lines everywhere else is long. Otherwise, If I had time, I’d go to Tokyo Express in Stonestown or that asian place downstairs.

This place sucks. Actual tuk tuk in Berkeley is way better. It just tastes like it was made 3 days ago and reheated. Blech. I wish I could give negative stars for such garbage

This is the kind of place you take people from Iowa to, to try Thai food. What I mean by that, is that it is blander than a vanilla fucktard driving their Prius to marriage counseling. It’s cheap, but its just not delicious. At all. It tastes like they got the instant Thai food Trader Joe’s sells, and then put it in the microwave. Gross. I now see why this place is so closely located to the«bar» on campus.(Which, BTW is not a REAL bar, but just a place that sells beer. I know, because when I went and asked for a vodka soda, they gave me the evil eye and pointed me away. Also, fuck your guys I know its only 3:00 in the afternoon, but I had 3 hours to kill before class, and numerous nubile young freshman males to hit on. Aholes.) Anyways, the 2 stars are just because the guys that work there hit on me, and I need all the attention I can get.

Ok people, it’s a college campus joint, their kitchen is ALMOST non existent. What i get here is always tasty. A two side combo with rice and you’re DONE for less than $ 6.50! I usually get the meat curry dishes. As long as it’s in the pan’s already soaking in the sauces, it’s pretty dang good for the price. Add some spicy chilly sauce(a tone if you love it like me) and you’re good to go! P. S. i would agree with the eval on the Pad Thai dish unfortunately. I am a pad Thai fan, but with so many other options, don’t let this one dish ruin your Thai lunch!!!

I heard this place was bomb so I decided to give it a try. I got the vegetable red curry with wide rice noodles and it was about $ 5… But it was soooo bland. If I hadn’t squeezed my lime and a bunch of sriracha over my curry it wouldn’t have tasted of anything. So sad… =(

Some Unilocal hate for this one, maybe it’s pent up energy for the soon to open Ike’s. Kids, we had nothing like Ike’s when I was in school, you’re lucky, so hang in there. Anyway, back to the restaurant at hand. Not bad people. Sweet salmon, rice and steamed veggies for $ 7? Ah yeah, that’s not bad at least. Healthy, plenty of rice to give to the less fortunate, and I was a fan of the slight kick to the sweet glaze. Always could use more salmon, but the amount is fair for the price you are paying. And back to you Young Unilocalers. Something you’ll learn as you get older. Patience. It’s a virtue. I’ll be in line with you for Ike’s. Until then, enjoy some sweet salmon.

Okay… The Pad Thai was $ 5… Yes, I KNOW it’s a campus joint… But I’d rather pay $ 3.50 for a beer at the on-campus sports bar next door, and then my remaining $ 1.50 to be gang-banged by a herd of angry rhinoceros, than eat that Pad Thai again. Thank you. LV
